About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Nunkiemark0 contributionsStunning views on the boat ride.We recently went on a grizzly bear excursion with Eagle Eye Adventures. Andreas was our captain, he was very friendly and had an excellent knowledge of the area. Unfortunately we didn’t see any bears. According to the local guide on the Toba river this could be a result of them fattening up on berries this year and the salmon numbers drying up. He also said it was probably a little too late in the year, I wish we’d have known this before. I’m not sure if Eagle Eye Adventures were aware of this, I’m sure they would’ve been. Our captain said he was a little surprised to be doing a trip that day as well. Maybe they were just trying to get a few more customers out of the season. To be fair the owner gave everyone a rain ticket on our return for a free trip anytime in the future. This is ok if you live nearby or holiday there regularly. When you live nearly 5,000 miles away it’s a little different. I’ve given it a 5 star review for the boat journey and stunning scenery. I know it’s nature and accept that they can’t guarantee sightings. The packed lunch was just the job and plenty of nice warm drinks. I would like to thank the lovely young lady in the office. She could see how disappointed everyone was on our return and recommended us to go tho the local salmon hatchery. Well we went the next day and saw 4 black bears, not grizzly bears I know but a wonderful alternative. I’m sure at the right time of year this trip would be a wonderful experience. Hopefully we’ll be able to come back sometime for another chance.Written 18 October 2024
- johnmQ5601SW0 contributionsAbsolutely amazing, would do it again. We had a great day, our skipper, Andreas, was very engaging and knowledgable. Upon arrival at the Klahoose Nation site, we were warmly greeted and taking to the viewing locations. We managed to see a bear cub and mother almost immediately and we were able to get some amazing photos. Altogether a great day out and some great scenes of British Columbia.Written 8 October 2024
- cl_trotter0 contributionsAwesome day with the grizzly bears! We had a wonderful and intimate experience observing grizzly bears on this tour. We were well looked after by our tour guide Nova, and the team of Klahoose First Nations guides. We learnt about their indigenous culture and they shared stories of the area and their experiences with the grizzly bears in the area. We had a fantastic time!Written 5 October 2024
- R6396QZjanef0 contributionsFantastic bear sightingWe had a fantastic day with Eagle eye adventures. The trip was very well organised from start to finish. We were very lucky to see a huge male grizzly fishing in the river,it was a real privilege to see this amazing bear and it’s an experience we will never forget.Thank you to Jos and the First Nation guys for making this such a special trip!!Written 4 October 2024
- debbiec2030 contributionsamazingAmazing time. Despite only a brief glimpse of a grizzly it was a wonderful trip. The bonus seeing orcas and a humpback whale on the way back Would thoroughly recommend Eagle Eye Adventures their knowledge alongside their humour make it a great experienceWritten 30 September 2024
- GeertjanHeidekamp0 contributionsAn excellently organized tour but you may be unlucky. An excellently organized tour. A very comfortable boat, small group (max 12), excellent lunch and enthusiastic, knowledgeable guide. The welcome by the local guides was professional and the surroundings are impressive. However, it remains a wildlife excursion so there is no guarantee. So we spent 5 times in a viewing hut for 30 minutes and only saw 1 eagle. The organization also found this very annoying (you get a 25% discount voucher for next time, but that is not of much use during a tour). On the way back we saw sea lions and a glimpse of Orcas. I can certainly recommend the excursion, but you may be unlucky.Written 27 September 2024
- Excursion6757150 contributionsWe will come back again!First: safety, for everyone a lifevest and explanation. Second: lunch and drinks were good and enough Third: guidance: Jos told about the whales, the surrounding, the Klahoose people and the bears during the trip. Perfect. And more: Explanation about the trip was clear. We saw 5 bears in total and had a wonderfull day. Not only bears but there was time for other animalls to. The extra attention for our autistic daughter was nice. If you wanna have the best day of your holiday, book a tour with Eagle Eye Adventure. Tip: Jos makes the most beautifull photo's. Make a little screen in front of the boat whit a slideshow of your most Lively pictures.Written 25 September 2024
- andrewwY1521AS0 contributionsA rain check. Our first adventure was a wonderful day full of scenery, whales and wonderful scenery. But no bears. Eagle eye gaves us a rain check voucher and we were able to book again. Our second adventure started out grey and misty with lots of rain. Our host this time was Joss, a larger than life man with a great sense of humour. This time we saw humpbacked whales on the way out but did not stop due to the poor weather. We got to Toba again and got on the bus with the guides. The first two stops came up empty. Our hopes started to fall. The third stop was the one. We found a bear in the river and then it's two friends appeared. We spent a long time with these bears who got on eating without taking any notice of us. The fourth and last stop there was a lone bear who was crusing the bank looking for fish. He walked right past and then walked off into the bush. We all left Toba excillerated. On the return we bumped into a pod of orca. A great day out and our stories of the day will be with us for years. Many thanks all.Written 23 September 2024
- earuiter0 contributionsA fantastic experienceSaturday the 14th we went for a whale-tour in the morning. We were friendly welcomed. We were dressed in floating suits, that also kept us warm. It rained when we parted but out on sea the sun was there and didn’t disappear. Our guide, Justine, told us several things about whales and orca’s We were lucky to see several whales. One of them , by surprise, came very close to the boat. You could also see and hear them taking a breath. We also spotted a few Orca’s. After the snack-break we went to a spot were several watercurrents came together, the ideal huntingspot for Orca’s. We saw a lot of them. Due to regulations we were not allowed to come close to them, not easy to take pictures, but the sight of them was fantastic. The last few minutes, close to the harbor it started raining again. We had a great day!Written 16 September 2024
- Jimbob6710 contributionsGreat Trip but terrible booking experience.Absolutely amazing trip with Eagle Eye Adventures. The staff was top notch and went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience! We witnessed a young mother Grizzly teaching her cub to fish and a huge male bear. The only really disappointment, was booking through Trip Advisor. I spent a lot of time and money on long distance to fix the booking because of glitches with their booking system. I ended up contacting the tour operator directly to solve the problem.Written 14 September 2024
- 478rjb0 contributionsA unique and a once in a lifetime experience! We had an amazing experience from start to finish. We started with a 2 hour comfortable smooth boat ride. Jos was very professional, knowledgeable and professional about all kinds of species not only bears but also of the surrounding areas. When arriving in Toba Inlet we were greeted by the Klahoose First Nation before getting in a bus for a short ride to the towers. A magical area and lots of bears and salmon in the river. The sense of being present while in the world of these very large and incredible animals in their natural habitat was what I hoped to be able to experience. On our way back to Campbell River they handed out the lunch. It was a picknick lunch, well packed and a variety of snacks. We had lots of humpback whales on our way back. It was just perfect......Written 13 September 2024

- ST19980 contributionsBeautiful scenery but might not be the best tour for you if claustrophobic or want to see a lot of whales. We did the wildlife tour because my husband wanted a covered boat and that time worked out best for us. I’ve done many whale watch tours before (New England and Alaska) so I was expecting something similar. I was used to being out of deck while the boat was in motion. Unfortunately with this tour, that was not the case. While the boat is in motion, you are enclosed in the small cabin. There are big windows, but from where I was sitting in the back (and being short), I really could not see much. The toughest part for me was that I am claustrophobic, so I found that part of the trip to be tough. By the end of the trip, I asked the guide if we could leave the back door open which allowed me to have fresh air and a view out the back of the boat. The whale watch trips I’ve been on before allowed you to see the whales somewhat close. We did see some whales on this trip but they were fairly far away. The guide mentioned the need to stay a mandatory distance away by law. Not sure if you would get to see them closer on the 6hr whale trip or not, but I found it disappointing on this trip. The guide we had was quite nice and very cheerful. When the boat did stop, we got to go out on the back deck. This was the best part of the tour: fresh air and beautiful scenery. We saw a few whales in the distance, bald eagles and their nests, porpoises, and many shorebirds.Written 25 August 2024

We took the 6 hour whale watching tour in the covered boat and WOW, it far exceeded our expectations. Our guide Brian honestly made the day the most interesting, exciting and enjoyable experience of our 3 week holiday in Canada. He knew how to find all sorts of marine life. We saw orcas, a huge pod of dolphins who surfed in our wake, sea lions basking on rocks and, best of all, two different pairs of humpback whales. We were super impressed with Brian's knowledge and his respectful approach to observation from a safe distance and his care and concern for the marine life. He found a lovely spot on Read Island to moor up for our lunch, for which we were supplied with enjoyable vegan lunch as we had requested. The boat was comfortable, fast and highly manouverable. All in all a brilliant tour for which we would give even more than 5 stars if we could!

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Great tour, great guide and excellent lunch. I went on the 6 hour Whale tour, and it was exactly what was promised. The guide for my tour not only found a pod of Orca's but shortly after, they were joined by two other pods. It was an unbelievable experience and even though our guide made sure that we were the regulated distance away from the whales, she made sure that we had a spectacular viewing.
And on the way back, we spotted a Grey Whale and tried to get a better view.

This Whale watching tour was a wonderful adventure! In addition to actually seeing a lot of marine life, we have learned a lot from and about the environment. Our captain and guide Benji told us all about the whales, killer whales, bears (which unfortunately we didn't see on this tour), dolphins, eagles, but also about the special currents between the islands, the aquatic plants that live there and the ecosystems of the environment.
It is truly a tour you must do if you are looking for just those steps more than a 'standard' Whale watching tour.
Compliments!

The company, run by Dutch people, is, in a word, great. It is well organized, reliable and safe. They have nice and good stuff such as the boat and your wind/sea suit. We saw an orca family consisting of 6 individuals. Although it can be different every day, there is a 99% chance that you will see sea lions, seals and sea eagles. Well worth the money! We opted for 6 hours of whale watching on a zodiac. Because of the suit you don't get cold on the boat. The time flew! The lunch they provide is super good; healthy sandwich, bag of chips, chocolate cake, coffee/tea/gravy, bottle of water and a mini candy such as snicker, kit kat. We recommend it to everyone 1000%.

It was a very good tour. The guidance was great from the reception to the end. We had a very good Guide, Nova. She showed us the best places for wildlife. And we saw almost all of them. Highlight was a close call: 5 Biggs orcas.

Very impressed with Eagle Eye Adventures. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The covered boat was very comfortable and much nicer than i thought it might be. We saw humpback whale and baby, sea lions and lots of birds. Unfortunately, no orcas so we'll have to come back again. Area was vast and beautiful. Lunch was homemade sandwich and very tasty. Overall i would recommend this tour.
