      Off-Roading Adventures!
Trail Series, Part 32 When I was a kid I remember riding my bmx bike to elementary school proudly sporting a backpack with an iron on decal that read “Eat my dirt!” During our off-road buggy tour those days came flooding back to me as there were many times that we found ourselves eating the dirt of those riding with us (which didn’t subtract from our enjoyment of freely roaming the Canadian wilderness even a little bit). I couldn’t keep myself from loudly expressing my excitement just like a kid enjoying a roller coaster for the first time. I think Dana may have laughed the entirety of the ride and for the longest time I kept thinking to myself, “Wow, I am unusually funny today because she just can’t seem to stop laughing. I should probably write this material down!” (It took me longer than I’d care to admit, but I eventually realized that Dana was laughing because she was having so much fun off-roading and not because my comedic material was all that good. 😞) Joan served as our jovial tour guide and did a great job with the safety orientation before we left, provided excellent instruction about how to safely navigate each section of the course, and timed our river crossing perfectly for the end of our ride (since we happily got drenched!). 💦 The course itself was always engaging, provided some spectacular vantage points, and included a great variation of sections to test your technical skills and also give you an opportunity to open up that throttle (at times exceeding speeds of 60 kph). If this were a hiking trail I’d rate it as moderate in difficulty, so be aware you will be jostled around quite a bit and you will likely feel just a tad sore the next day as you’re describing your adventure to others with a smile that you’re unable to wipe off your face. 😀 While the course presents a worthy challenge, the buggies they provide are well suited for the task (and an excellent helmet and goggles are provided to all adventurers). In keeping with Canadian tradition, we were careful to pack an “Oh Henry!” bar as part of our emergency rations. And that’s…Henry’s Take. #eatmydirt Photo Credit 📸 @danavoros

      Fantastic Buggy Tour with Brock
We recently went on a buggy tour with Brock, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the start, Brock made sure we were well-prepared and comfortable with the equipment, emphasizing safety while still making sure we had a blast. The route we took was absolutely stunning, with breathtaking mountain views and thrilling trails that kept our adrenaline pumping. Brock’s enthusiasm and knowledge of the area really enhanced the tour. He shared interesting insights about the local landscape and made sure we got the best views. The buggies were well-maintained and easy to drive, and Brock was always there to help whenever needed. The highlight for us was stopping to take in the panoramic views from a mountaintop — it was picture-perfect! Brock’s friendly, professional attitude made the whole experience fun and memorable. We highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for adventure and great scenery. Big thanks to Brock for an amazing day!

      Dishonest and misleading company
On 8.29 I booked a 3 hour buggy tour. Girl in office told me it takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the Valley, so I figured we would be getting 2 hours and 20 minutes of riding time. The day of the tour we had it booked for 12 pm and did not start driving until 1.05pm. At 2.16pm we were done riding. At 2.53pm we were back in Whistler. I find it absolutely unacceptable and deceptive to sell a 3 hour buggy tour and get 1 hour and 9 minutes of riding time. Dishonest company.

Offroad run in the Whistler mountains
We had a fantastic time! Did this tour together with my girlfriend. It was just us and one other couple being guided by Brock, who was super fun, energetic, and attentive. We were quick to hit the trails which are kept natural and give lots of opportunities to enjoy everything you’d want out of a buggy or ATV. We were taking turns driving but both had a full experience. We stopped at two really cool photo spots at which Brock made sure to get good shots of us and then went for the dip through the water, which he even video taped. So the pictures and videos are great although the tour never felt like a photo shoot but really focused on the nature and driving experience. That’s what we especially enjoyed here!

      Awesome Alfie!-best adventure tour ever!
My husband and I did the Call of the Wild ATV Tour. It was one of the highlights of our Whistler trip. Our guide Alfie was amazing! He was so much fun and very attentive to us. He treated us like VIP's. The dinner and view was beautiful. And as a bonus, when we arrived to the Salmon dinner, we were greeted by live music. The singer made it very fun and memorable as well. We would definitely do it again...Maybe snowmobiles next time!!! Thanks again to Awesome Alfie and Crew!

I attended the Wilderness Run Snowmobile Tour with Canadian Wilderness Adventures the other day and from start to finish it was overall a great and unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to others that want to try out the sport and/or explore through the mountains surrounding Whistler.

Starting off with the equipment, we were advised to bring our own snow gear if possible but if anything was missing from their suggested equipment list then they had plenty of extra high quality gear available for use. Full face helmets were automatically provided which were very comfortable and I’m sure would well protect you in the event of having to use it. The sled’s that were provided to us were full out snowmobiles that were well maintained and ready to go for the time of the tour, they could be equipped to hold 1 or 2 passengers and had more than enough available power than you would ever need, or probably even ever want to fully experience.

Although at the time of our tour we were going through a bit of a snow drought making the snow less than ideal, the beautiful trails we were taken on and sights alongside them more than made up for that. They included everything from climbs, descents, banked turns and frozen lake beds to drive around on to get an enjoyable and well rounded snowmobile experience.

Our guide Anna was awesome, at the start she explained how the sled’s work and how to properly operate them in great detail. She kept the tour going at a good pace all while still watching the group to make sure everyone was safe, and good to continue going. She was very well experienced and I’m sure could handle any situation that could come up. The opportunity came up for me to ride on the back of our guide’s sled for part of the tour and she went out of her way to point out various landmarks and explain the rules and etiquette of the snowmobile trails. If you try out riding and are unsure about continuing to operate the sled yourself and have concerns about being on the back of your friend or partner's sled then I would highly recommend checking with the guide to see if you can finish off the tour on theirs.

Overall myself and the group I was with had a wonderful, and truly unforgettable time. If you want a break from the slopes without sacrificing a day full of excitement and views then this is the activity for you!

Our group of 5 went on the wilderness tour. The check-in was easy, our drive up to the cabin where the tour begins from was fun as the french Canadian girl that drove us was a great driver and very funny and informative. Our guide was Sam who was really great he made sure we were comfortable with the speed and that we had a fun time. Would definitely recommend this tour even to people who have not been snowmobiling before

We had such a great time on the wilderness snowmobile run! It ended up being a beautiful sunny day and the views you get on this run are unbeatable. This was a great intermediate experience because we got a quick intro about how to ride the snowmobiles and our guide, Mitch, took us around some areas where we were just slowly cruising and other areas where we got to throttle it up a notch and get some speed. The handlebars and foot pockets are both heated so its a comfortable ride the whole time. Major kudos to Mitch who kept us feeling safe while having so much fun! This is a super well run operation and completely worth it. We'll definitely be back for more.

We booked the Yukon breakfast 8am tour, and the entire experience from start to finish was seamless! My boyfriend who is an advanced rider, and myself who is a beginner both had a great time. Our guide, Nate, was really likeable, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone was comfortable and felt safe. He also made sure to take pictures for everyone who wanted them at key points on the tour. Breakfast was hearty and delicious in a cute little wood cabin. A great chance to rest, use the washroom if needed, and enjoy a warm cup of coffee.

All necessary equipment was available for all riders, including snow pants if needed.

Would highly recommend this tour to anyone and everyone, whether you are brand new to the activity or have been sledding for years.

We’ve been on a couple of ATV tours with this company before and, since we’ve always wanted to go snowmobiling, we decided to book with them when we were there in winter. As we were returning customers, they knocked 10% off the price, so keep that in mind if you’re returning too.

The tour was excellent as well as our guide, Michelle. As we’d been ATV’ing before, they recommended we go into the intermediate snowmobiling since a lot of the techniques are the same and I’m really glad we did! My wife and I were the only people on our tour who hadn’t been snowmobiling before, but Michelle gave everyone a run through of the controls and made sure we were all confident in braking and turning techniques before we set off up the mountain. She made it detailed enough it was easy to pick up but quick enough we still felt like we got a decent amount of time on the sleds.

I felt like we got a decent chance to ride, got up to some decent speeds and also did a couple of little steeps through the trees which were fun!

I’m 100% up for booking again and maybe even attempting something a bit more advanced!

My pal and I went on this snowmobile tour having not ridden snowmobiles before. We’d ridden ATVs and other similar vehicles before so our guide, Tyler, made sure that the trip was at the perfect speed and difficulty to keep us entertained.
Cracking day out, would definitely go again. Cheers Tyler!

This was the first time I had ever been snowmobiling and it was just amazing. For me, it was all made possible thanks to our amazing guide, Alessandro. We took this snowmobile tour as part of a team bonding evening and coming from England where we don't snowmobile, I was really apprehensive about doing it, and at night. When we were getting kitted out I panicked when putting on a helmet that was a little too small and Alessandro immediately suggested I come outside and try a bigger helmet in the fresh air. This calmed me down a lot and he told me it was normal to feel anxious.
After he took us through the snowmobiling instructions, I again felt nervous about doing it and wondered if I h should back out; he then told me that I would ride with him and he would make sure I was ok. And he did just this - I felt totally safe and confident when we set off and his experience and friendliness honestly made it possible for me to not only participate but also love it!
The experience is amazing - you ascend the mountain climb in a unique way as the sun is setting and glances at the views were unforgettable, We climbed up until we reached a summit where a restaurant and live music and fondue awaited!
On the way down when it was dark, Alessandro constantly monitored our group and that we were all staying together and really put our safety first.
This is a first class company to go snowmobiling with and for any apprehensive participant, I truly hope you have the chance to ride with Alessandro, or his team. You'll be in safe hands and have a super experience you won't ever forget.

We were a group of 8 who rented 4 snowmobiles for couples. The price includes whatever gear you don’t have like an extra goggle or snow boots or snow pants or waterproof coat and of course a helmet. That’s a big positive in my opinion. The total trip is 3 hours BUT includes a 30 minute round trip shuttle ride about 10-15 minutes to get ready and then about 15 minutes of instruction which takes it down to just about 2 hours. Connor was our Irish guide and he’s great no doubt. We were a little disappointed in that it was basically just a trail ride up the mountain to a spot on the trail where we turned around and went back. The trail was a bit bumpy but not ridiculous. Would have been nice if it was smoothed out a little bit and if we could have really opened the sleds up on an open field or safe straightaway. Overall it was good with scenic tree views mainly on this cloudy day.

James was an excellent host / guide, he was very friendly, informative and attentive ensuring that all participants on the tour got the best out of it.
The scenery and the views during the tour were absolutely amazing and James ensured that all participants were confident following the training provided before the tour set off.
The short session on the frozen lake where you could let rip a little on the snowmobile was fantastic fun!
I cannot recommend this snowmobiling tour highly enough

4 of us signed up for the Wilderness Snowmobile tour. We met in the Whistler Village and hopped on a shuttle bus which took us to their operations.

Unfortunately the snow has been challenging this season, so we were notified ahead of time that we'd be transported to a higher altitude after our arrival where there would be more snow. They also said additional time would be added to the tour to account for the extra transportation

Upon arrival we were fitted with helmets and offered every piece of outdoor apparel under the sun - I thought this was really impressive, they even offered suspender style snow pants if you didn't have sufficient ones to stay warm/dry. Then we were assigned to a guide and loaded up into some vehicles to drive further up to meet the machines.

We all signed up for our own snowmobiles (no doubles) and were fortunate to have our own guide, Sascha. He was great, very diligent but also fun and kept it real. We appreciate this because we're a pretty lively bunch. We started off following him up a trail to get the hand of things and then we went to an area to practice and demonstrate that we could safely and responsibly handle the snowmobiles going around different types of terrain #safetyfirst.

It's very important that guests sign up for a program that meets their ability and comfort. This is so that everyone in the group is able to have the experience they signed up for. In this case, we were extra fortunate to be in our own group because we found out after the tour that the other 2 groups didn't demonstrate the same aptitude so they went to a very different area. Granted, we think they were all doubles, which is a lot more weight to maneuver. Had we been mixed with them, we would have run the chance of missing out on the opportunity we had. We got to go "up the stairs" which is a series of switchback turns. This brought us up and over a hill and over to a frozen lake. We got to do a bunch of laps around the lake and try some other hills. On the way back we stopped by the log cabin they use for the breakfast and dinner tours and had a little photo op of the view.

My only piece of feedback is that I wish we had a bit more time to take some pictures/action shots. I have only done snowmobiling once before in Colorado and the guide took pictures throughout the tour -- solo shots, group shots, etc. We were able to view them after the tour was completed with the option to purchase them for one flat rate for the whole group. Maybe something for Canadian Wilderness to consider.
