Some Better Information on Bus-Stops is Required to Make This Worthwhile
Once we found where we had to be to board the bus and were actually on the tour, it wasn't too bad, but we did struggle initially and even a stop in at the local information tour desk could not help us as to where we needed to be/how to pay, etc. The commentary was good and the buses are old London double-deckers which is a bit cute, but not very comfortable, particularly for the elderly I would imagine. All in all, for the expense, I'd give it a miss and find your way about the city some other way. I wasn't up to walking on the day we went but we ended up walking around so much to find the buses that it affected our enjoyment of the day as a whole.

    Great introduction to the city
Montreal is a big city so we started our visit by doing the full ride on the bus before staying on again and getting off near the river. It's a great way to work out where things are and the distances between them. The ticket is valid for 48hrs so the next day, we used it to get to the places we'd decided we wanted to investigate a bit more.

    Disappointing
The tour was disappointing. We did get to see many parts of the city, but the guide (Robert) was French and spoke only very briefly in English, and much more extensively in French, so we English speakers didn't really get much of the history or importance of each area. That should be more balanced, as the guide is all important in this type of tour. It was raining and he recommended not getting off at the stops, which was the whole reason we took this tour, as an easy way to manage our touring and get break times at sites that our 7 year old would enjoy. The bus was full and no one got off, so anyone waiting at a stop was out of luck and had long waits, which would have been terribly frustrating. The tour company can't predict the weather, but should either make it clear at booking that a tour would be in mostly in French or English, or have guides who be sure to speak to each equally; and also should manage the group size better so there will be adequate service for those who do get on and off as intended. For us, it turned into a long morning of relatively little value.

    Good Tour Covering Montreal Highlights
My elderly aunt wanted to see the Montreal sights and this was a good way to do it. I chose the 3.5 hour to ensure she saw "it all" however it ended up feeling rather long. Our guide was knowledgable and friendly and catered well to the mix of French and English-speaking guests. Unfortunately upon boarding the bus, the guests were told to only use the restroom in case of emergency, which wasn't ideal given most of the attendees were older. We still saw the city's highlights and the tour stopped in several spots with public restrooms for those who needed it.

Make this tour your first activity in Montreal
This tour was great! We took the tour our first day to see the various sights & parts of Montreal. This helped us to then decide where we wanted to go to spend more time. The driver/tour guide was bilingual & did a fantastic job of narrating the sights as well as interesting facts about history, etc. In addition, he was quite entertaining. I highly recommend this tour, especially as the first thing on your trip to do/to see list. It's a great introduction to all that Montreal has to offer.

    NOT WORTH THE MONEY
This bus hop on and off is too expensive. I went to pay and was told the price was in American dollars. Why is that in Canada? I asked for some information on each stop as we did not know anything about them, only to be told there is no information on any stop. When we got on the bus we did not know where and when to get off. It turned out that most of the stops you could actually walk too. The worst organised hop off and on, in any city that I was ever on

Tour - Too long - too little to see
Most of the time is spent driving through neighborhoods that are run-down and/or under construction. I am not sure if the city has little to offer, but it took 1 hour to drive to an old stadium for a photo op that was definitely a waste of time. The tour guide was great - not his fault as he was trying to be entertaining and informative. I learned more about what used to be in Montreal than what actually is here now. Again, perhaps that is all there is. 3 hours is way too long for what we saw, and I believe the length is only to justify the cost.

Where the heck are the bus stops? No info provided
The tour was decent but the problem is that none of the stops are marked at the location. Buying tickets online provided zero information on where to catch the bus. We were told on the phone to wait for the bus at Notre Dame Basilica, which turns out to not even be on the tour. The bus stop is over a block away. When getting off the bus we asked the tour guide how to know where the bus stops are and were told "you have to remember where you got off so you can come back and get on." How exactly does that enable one to hop-on at a new spot or hop-on for the first time?

    Totally worth it!
The Secret Food Tour with Avril was so much fun and so interesting. She is a fabulous tour guide with so much knowledge about the area and Montreals history. She also was very personable and accommodating with our group. I would definitely take another tour with her! She was fun, energetic and had a great sense of humor. The food choices were fun and Montreal authentic. If you take this tour ask for Avril!

Don’t waste your time and money
Has to be the most disappointing hop on hop off bus I have ever taken. Loads to see and do in Montreal, this bus chose to show us “a disused grain store”, “the city’s social hosusing”, “the cities homeless community” and the cemetery! Other than the cathedral near the mountain nothing at all of any interest. Complete waste of money and 2 hours of my life I will never get back.

    Not user friendly.
I bought the 2 day bus pass before a trip with my 92 year old Mom. I thought it would be an easy way to get around Montreal. I could not locate your office downtown. The map I had was hard to read. My mom was tired as my had walked from our hotel. I finally got a cab and went to Old Montreal. Then I could not find your office down there to turn in our voucher for the bus pass. I finally found a cab to go back yo our hotel. The following day we walked to the Museum of Fine Arts. We did the museum then I could not find your office there either. So it was a total waste of our money. I thought that it would be easier to use the bus but it wasn’t tourist friendly at all to try yo find an office to turn in our voucher for the bus pass. I feel like it was misrepresented online. A total waste of $120 for us!

    Great tour
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Wr were thankful we did not do the double decker in and off as the weather was cold and drizzle. Would have liked a atop at Notre Dame, but we did that on our own. For us seniors the clean washroom stop at the Olympic Stadium was helpful and practical. Thank you for a nice time.

We really enjoyed this tour. It’s the best way to see a city. No worries about parking or driving in unfamiliar areas. It’s a great first day activity.

Wouldn't recommend this trip, we paid $135 Canadian dollars each for this trip, appx £77 british pounds.
Looked good, a luxury coach, a guided tour of old Quebec, the falls and some free time.
The woman working at the desk in the Gray line bus station was less than helpful and just not friendly. The bus was very old, very loud engine, poor suspension and in fact broke down on the way back.
The Quebec guide said that she wasn't being paid to do the guiding so she made it explicit that the tips would be funding her services!!! I thought but what have we already paid quite a lot of money for???Surely the guide should be paid?? She was nice enough but certainly no expert guide. We had a rather cursory tour of old Quebec, went to the falls which were impressive and then dropped off in Quebec for around 3 hours. being supplied with city maps would have been helpful at this point. Again on the way back, after the breakdown, we were still being pursued for tips by the driver. Fair enough it wasn't his fault that the bus broke down but...the trip felt cheap. If we'd paid anything up to 50 pounds, maybe ok but half as much again and it felt very poor value for money.
To improve : get a decent guide and pay them properly. Extend the quebec walking tour. Get a much more comfortable bus and please don't aggressively pursue the customers for tips when they have already paid a lot of money for the trip!!

We were blessed with an operation that left on time and returned the same way. Our coach driver Norman was outstanding, not only driving the bus expertly around some very small roads, he also acted as a a guide when the official guide wasn’t onboard. He was clearly knowledgeable about the history and geography and without being intrusive regularly kept a patter up as we drove the 3 hours or so to Quebec City. Our guide Pierre was clearly very knowledgeable and provided a great explanation of what we were seeing and how to see more on our own time. The dual language of French and English was a nice touch.
The trip allowed us 3 hours of free time to wander around the city and see the parts that interested us the most after our orientation tour, which turned out to be just about perfect as an amount of time to eat, explore and return.

On the journey back we were dropped off near a fountain in the city, in my rush to get off the bus I left a phone in the seat pocket. After some panic and messages we were able to track the phone. The next day we went for an early morning run we were relived to hear that the message we left on the answer phone had been listened to before we arrived @7.30 am. The driver returned the phone untouched and with the credit card and drivers license still in the case. Top marks.

This was a great option for us, since we’d already had a wedding and lots of traveling. Easy meetup stop the tourist bus station, roomy and comfortable coach bus, and great tour. Started with a great introduction by our bus driver, who was kind enough to load our umbrella stroller under the bus, heading out from Montreal towards Quebec City. Bathroom stop halfway, grabbed coffee and food so we didn’t go hungry during the tour, and then a nap on the last half to Quebec City.

First stop, old Quebec City tour, around 40-45 min walking around the cobblestones streets and getting history. Bumpy for strollers but with the hills, it was definitely needed for our little one. Gave us recommendations to see after we came back for our afternoon free time. Peter/Pierre was out tour guide, spoke in French and English, and was lovely!

Second stop was Montmorency Falls, which was beautiful. 20 minute stop, nothing but a quick view and appreciation, and that was fine for us. If you want to climb the stairs or take a ride to the top, you’ll have to come back. This tour doesn’t have the time with the drive to Quebec City and the packed tours. It was plenty of time for us.

Last was free time in Quebec City, 3 hours. There is a ferry you can take around Quebec City and Levi, lasts about an hour, but we decided to stretch our legs and have a delicious lunch at Soprista outdoors. Complete with photos, lots of walking around, some shopping and then gelato before getting back on the bus.

Headed back to Montreal, and our bus driver was nice enough to wait for 3 people (2 separate parties) who were 10 minutes late to getting back (please don’t do that to everyone… be on time…). Same stop halfway back for a restroom and snack stop. Dropped people along at specific areas near hotels, we only had a 10 minute walk back to our hotel (took us 30 to get there in the am so we were very grateful).

Tipped $5 CAD to the guide as suggested, $7 CAD to the driver as requested. They explain the tips on the ride a couple of times, which was extremely helpful to know what was appropriate. They all were lovely and I highly recommend-so happy we did this instead of driving it ourselves! Nice tour day and break day in the shuffle of planning, driving, etc.

The tour in Quebec City was informative, and we had several hours to explore on our own beyond the tour. But there were several drawbacks that tainted the experience. The coach was fairly comfortable (not luxurious), and our driver/guide was bi-lingual, but he struggled with his English. He attempted to be a comedian, but his jokes were a bit condescending and fell flat. The information he attempted to provide about the agenda of the trip was confusing, and we were especially appalled that he was compelled to give us a lesson in “tipping” the servers. Seriously?!? Thank goodness the actual tour in Quebec City was done by one of the locals. The final drawback was that we toured the old city, then got back on the bus to see Montmorency Falls, then returned to the city to explore on our own. There wasn’t enough time to experience the falls up close, to “feel the spray” as explained in the description of the tour. The flow of the experience could have been better managed if we had gone directly to the Falls, then into the city for the tour and free time. All that being said, it was an ok intro to the area, and we saw the highlights as we had hoped. If you can manage your expectations then this excursion was fine.

If you are in Montreal and can get to Quebec city, YOU ABSOLUTELY SHOULD- I'm just not sure I would recommend going on this bus trip. My husband & I didn't want to drive to Quebec city after a busy work/social week in Montreal (zzzzzzz) . The day started out frustrating as we waited 30 minutes for 1 family to join us (have respect for others- be on time. why did we wait?) . Travel to Quebec city was seamless and we picked up our guide for his 2 1/2 hours of sharing his love of the city. The day is not logically sequenced as we got off the bus for an hour of slow walking/stopping/listening but you only walk about 400 m total. The information was great but very slow as it alternates between french and english and movement is minimal. We were then back on the bus where we drove to montmorency falls. If you have been to any other waterfall in Canada, I would skip this. Incredibly underwhelming and time consuming portion of the trip. You are then back on the bus to drive past plains of Abraham but at no point did we get off the bus to look around or enjoy the plains. Then we were back to the original spot to get less than 2 hours of free time. This is really just enough time to eat lunch (it is now 2:30 pm and we got on the bus at 7:45) and do a few minutes in the shops. We quickly hiked back up to the plains of Abraham to actually explore it and felt very rushed to do any dining or shopping/sightseeing. Ultimately, if you are mobile and enjoy reading the history on your own, you should just get to Quebec City for the day and avoid an organized tour like this as it was more bus/time killing than adventure. If you are older or travelling with someone who is not mobile it is a good option?

This tour was great for my husband and I. The bus driver was very funny and gave us some info and jokes along the way. Each stop seemed like just enough time at each place. We got about 2.5 hours of free time in Quebec City, which seemed like just enough time to get a meal and explore the shops since it's a very small city (the historic/touristy part at least). We also got the see the waterfall with just enough time to appreciate it and take some photos. A local your guide was picked up in Quebec city and gave us some history of the entire city while driving around the slightly "newer" parts of the city. Overall, it was a great tour and day. Highly recommend this tour!

This was a really nice day trip. Our bus driver was funny and knowledgeable and made great time to and from Quebec City, which is absolutely beautiful. There we met up with tour guide Roger Clavel who is highly experienced and knowledgeable. He showed us around the lower city for about 45 minutes, then we rode out to Montmorency Falls, then back to QC for about 3 hours of free time before we were back on the bus at about 5pm. Such a beautiful place.

The experience was great, driving was seamless and the fact that you can leave all your things in the bus when exploring the city is very convenient. I would have liked more history/architecture information, but having a live guide instead of a recording is great. The time given to explore Quebec is about 3 hrs, which is exactly what you want to explore both upper and lower city sites and get a bite! Falls were magnificent and you get to approach them from two paths, while also having exactly enough time for the falls and nature around it.

I had a great experience. Some highlights: the bus driver/guide was so funny and kind (this really made the tour feel very comfortable for me), the historical tour in Quebec City was really educational and informative and, while the focus was mostly Old Quebec, the tour included a little drive around the city to see certain viewpoints and monuments which I really appreciated. There was a decent amount of free time to explore the areas that were briefly visited during the tour!

This trip is definitely worth the price. Highly recommend it! Our bus driver, Andre, was very informative and extremely personable and entertaining. He pointed out many interesting sites during our trip to Quebec City, making the long ride feel shorter. The Quebec City tour guide, Katya was very knowledgeable and extremely interesting. She personalized the tour to tie an interesting fact from Quebec City to the home states/countries of the tour attendees, which was a great touch. Plenty of time to enjoy the Montmorency Falls and the shops and restaurants in Old Town Quebec. The hotel shuttle pick up and bus drop off to our hotel was greatly appreciated.

Quebec City and Montmorency Falls Day Trip from Montreal provided by Gray Line
