What to expect
Discover the beautiful river landscapes and fascinating history of Montreal during this cruise along the St. Lawrence River. Anyone with a love for geography, historic explorers or that simply enjoys great views will relish this scenic boat ride along the shores of French Canada’s biggest city. Start your trip from the city’s Alexandra Pier in either the morning or afternoon. Then cast off for your river ride, journeying 22 miles (35 kilometers) of the river near Montreal. During your cruise you’ll pass famous city sights including the islands of Boucherville, Jacques-Cartier Bridge and the city’s picturesque shoreline.  Make sure to also take advantage of all that your ship, the AML Cavalier Maxim, has to offer during your voyage. Enjoy some sunbathing on the ship’s al fresco terraces, or step inside if you need to warm up in the glass-enclosed dining area. An array of food and drinks, including muffins, salads, cookies, sandwiches, juice, and cocktails, is available for purchase at the on-board café. At the end of your ride, return back to Alexandra Pier, having gained a new perspective on the city of Montreal and its rich history.

AML cruise along the Montreal Port
Jul 2019
We took the AML cruise along the Montreal Port. The scenery was beautiful. They had difficulty with the microphones which made listening to the guide very difficult. However we met many charming Montreal residents and had a great time. The drinks were reasonable.

Enjoyable relaxing way to spend a couple hours
Sep 2019
We enjoyed our cruise in the river along Montreal. The seating areas were nice with ample views of the coastline. Refreshments were available for purchase and the service was good. We sat in the protected area of the upper deck which protected us from the cool breezes but still allowed ample views. The city of Montreal is not particularly scenic when viewed from the River, which explains the absence of a 5th star.

Not in top 10 things to do..
A very pleasant cruise as long as you were looking south.

The return was trip along the port... very good views of containers.

Staff were very polite and service was good. But the best views are of Montreal which are great.

Lovely 1 1/2 drinking a beer in the sun.

OK, not Great
Aug 2019
We had free time in Montreal and thought this would be a fun experience. The cruise goes up the St.Lawrence River for about a 30-40 minutes and turns around and heads back to the dock. The sound system could be better; we could not hear much of the commentary from the guide. As others have noted, you see a LOT of shipping containers in the port.

Nice ride on the St. Lawrence
Aug 2019 • Family
After a hot day of touring taking this boat cruise was really refreshing. Difficult to hear the commentary about the surroundings especially speaking in French and English but if you need a break from walking it’s comfortable smooth and pleasant. Nice skyline views from the water.

Sightseeing boat ride on St Lawrence River in Montreal
Jul 2019 • Friends
We took the 90 minute sightseeing boat ride in Montreal. It was mediocre. We had difficulty hearing the tour guide. One issue was he was speaking French and English and that made it difficult. They did serve both drink and food. Also the actual boat ride was somewhat boring as we didn't find the river front in Montreal very interesting.

Expensive view of shipping containers.
I decided at the last minute to do this on my final day in Montreal, and so didn’t get to read any of the reviews first. And that is my loss.

The 90 minute boat trip (which was only 75 minutes) down the St Lawrence Seaway gives you a great view of the start of the 25km of shipping container wharves, and not much else. And it’s not a cheap excursion!

I did learn that it would take me 2 days to get to the Atlantic Ocean and another 6 days to get to Liverpool! And I did get to go on the St Lawrence Seaway, but I could have caught a $2.50 ferry across to the Parc to do that.

I’m kicking myself that I wasted money on this excursion!

Interesting trip if you like marine terminal operations; not much else to look at.

Interesting trip if you like marine terminal operations; not much else to look at. Some of the1967 EXPO can also be seen. But commentary is underwhelming.
