About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- gustgd0 contributionsGood use of time and money. It was a solid good trip. Our guide Martin is a Montreal native and his family has been in the province for 12 generations I believe? I like a little more history of important people rather than buildings, but I’m sure others are different. All in all a good tour and would recommend. Martin had said we must do the light tour of Notre Dame and at first I hesitated, as I’ve seen plenty of churches. And in the words of the saintly Shania Twain “ They don’t impress me much” but at Martin’s insistence, I gave the Catholics some money to attend the 9:00 show. True story is that it’s amazing. Glad I did it.Written 1 December 2024

His knowledge of the city, the great stories and his enthusiasm kept us engaged the entire tour. He had a great mix of humor and knowledge. I learned a lot about the history of Montreal. I highly recommend this tour! Very much worth it and very, very informative!Written 19 November 2024

- iluvcookies0 contributionsBienvenue a Vieux MontrealPierre is a great source of information on Old Montreal. He gave our group tons of historical and cultural facts. We hit all the key landmarks and he gave suggestions on where to eat and shop. He was inclusive and made sure everyone was comfortable. The combo tour is long, but worth the experience. Merci beaucoup Pierre!Written 10 November 2024
- jegow0 contributionsMontreal - West or East Old Town -- you decide which is favorite!Walking tours of Ouest & Est (West & East) Old Montreal were very enjoyable. I was traveling solo, an older woman, finishing a cruise at Montreal. I wanted to see what Old Montreal was all about. The (2) 1.5 hour walking tours were perfect. Our guide, "Thomas", was very knowledgeable, humorous, timely, dependable and professional. The combination tour provided one hour break in-between morning walk and afternoon walk. At the conclusion of the morning tour, Thomas ended at a public building that provided restrooms and places nearby to quickly eat or shop. The start location for each tour was very easy to find, nearby the hotel I stayed at; Hotel Place D'Armes, which I'd also recommend. The tour helped me to feel safe and able to walk about later in the day/evening, to revisit restaurants and shops on my own. I would recommend the combination tour to learn about and appreciate Montreal's culture, history and embracable charm.Written 1 November 2024

- patriciapP6244EN0 contributionsWonderful Morning Exploring the Old CityMy husband and I had a Guidatour of Montreal with Sebastien. It was a beautiful day and he took us and our semi-private group around the Old City. He was wonderful. Very informative but also responsive to any and all questions. He also indulged us with a few treats along the way! It was the perfect introduction to the history and architecture of Montreal and I couldn't recommend it more, and Sebastien in particular.Written 14 October 2024

- lakerfn0 contributionsA fun, informative walk to learn about MontrealWe went on a walking tour with Thomas K. who is one of the funniest, informative, and knowledgeable guides I have run into. He kept the whole group on our toes by asking questions on both Canada and U.S. history. He was fully open to answering all types of questions we threw at him, while imparting all you need to know about Montreal old and new places plus influential people that shaped the city. Overall, a very fun experience to get to know the city.Written 12 October 2024

He had a thorough knowledge of the historical details and answered all our questions with great enthusiasm. He was funny and gave us good recommendations for shopping and eating. I would highly recommend this tour.Written 10 October 2024
- michaelhE9457VD0 contributionsA genuine apology offered and accepted.I have previously left a poor review regarding my experience on this tour. On my return home I was contacted by telephone by the company who were most concerned and wished to apologise. This was genuinely expressed and demonstrated their efforts to provide good service. On this basis I am satisfied that my experience was most likely an isolated occurrence and a momentary lapse of judgement on the part of the tour guide. I am happy to say that the matter has been addressed and on this basis would recommend Guideatour.Written 7 October 2024

If you really want to see and understand the history and culture of Old Montreal then I strongly suggest this walking tour. My wife & I took this tour in August and loved it. Without a guide you miss too much of the social history that drove the original settlement of Montreal. Our guide (Frederic) was very well informed, he knew the history and culture behind all the monumental statues and buildings on our tour. He brought it all to life, he knew the historical issues and could explain it al in great detail. Highly recommended.

Claudine was super friendly, knowledgeable, and a wonderful tour guide. We toured with a 12 year old and 6 year old and she made it interesting and accessible for all of us. It was great to see spots we would have walked right by, building an understanding of the geography, history, architecture, and culture of this very cool place. She took us into hidden nooks, a special garden, and up to a rooftop terrace to view the city. My kids absolutely loved this tour and thought it was the highlight of our trip.

Hello,
Thanks so much for leaving a review. We will be sure to let Claudine know she was appreciated. It's not always easy to cater to adults AND 6-year-olds AND 12-year-olds, but we are happy to hear everyone found it to be a fun activity!
All the best and see you in Montréal again soon,

We really loved Nicholas' candor and conversation. It was really nice since it just us (me, wife, 2 sons). He showed us some beautiful buildings, statues and art that we definitely would have missed! He was also filled with knowledge of Montreal's history as well as the creation of Quebec and Canada. He told it like it was his first time...not with mistakes but with passion and interest! He has done this tour a thousand times (we asked him) but made us feel his passion and love for his city, its founders and its history. He made us love the city too! Definitely worth the time and money!!!

This tour is falsely presented. It is advertised as a "private" tour of up to 15 people. We booked the tour with 4 people, but when we arrived for the tour we were told it wasn't a private tour, but a group tour of 15 people. It was not that interesting and a complete waste of money.

Bonjour,
We sincerely apologize for any confusion and disappointment you experienced during your recent visit to our tour. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our services.
Firstly, we offer three types of tours: public, VIP (semi-private), and private. We understand that there may have been some confusion regarding the tour type you booked, and we want to clarify the distinctions to rectify the situation.
Public Tour: This tour is open to a larger group of participants, often up to 15 people, and is designed to provide an economical option for our guests. It is not private.
VIP (Semi-Private) Tour: This tour offers a more intimate experience with a smaller group of participants, typically limited to a maximum of 6 people, providing a better chance for interaction and a more personalized experience. It is not private but offers a more exclusive atmosphere than the public tour.
Private Tour: This tour is exclusively for your group, ensuring privacy and a personalized experience with no additional participants.
We are truly sorry if there was any confusion regarding the tour type you expected. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered during your visit and hope to make it up to you promptly.

The tour was indeed a great way to start the trip. Informative and gave us the history on how Montreal came to be and took us literally all over Old Montreal. Unfortunately it was swelteringly hot, but our guide Felicite did her best to shade hop for us and really gave us a sense of her love for Montreal. I am taking off a star because she didn't ask the ages of our kids and later they said they felt a bit ignored and talked down to. My bad for not telling Felicite their ages, but as older teens bordering on adulthood (19 and 17 year old twins), I felt it was fairly obvious that they were not little kids and wanted to be on the tour. She apologized for boring them several times and made assumptions that they were not interested in what she was showing them. So overall, the tour itself was really good and I would recommend. Maybe let the guide know ages of kids.

It was the perfect way to start our family experience in Montreal. Martin, our guide, showed us around Old Montreal and all its sights, answering questions about history, architecture, culture, and the best food! It was the first time we tried a tour where the kids (17, 14, 9) were not only there but involved, and for the rest of our visit to Montreal, they related to what we had heard from our guide about the city. Perfect, even if English is not your first language!

Our tour guide Robert was very knowledgeable about the history of Montreal. He was thorough and passionate about his city. It was an extremely windy morning for the tour, but Robert kept us moving and got us inside as much as he could to give everyone a break from the wind. Robert answered all of our questions and provided good dining recommendations. We went to one of the restaurants he recommended that night, The Keg Steakhouse, for a delicious dinner. Thank you!

We had a wonderful time walking through old town Montréal. Our tour guide, Thomas was entertaining, informative and funny. He even kept the 5 and 7 year olds interested, as well as the 3 teenaagers. THAT is a talent. He knew the answers to all our questions and led us to all sorts of hidden gems that we would have never even known were there. Definitely recommend.

Mathieu Demers provided an extremely entertaining, educational and individualized walking tour of Old Montreal (in English). We asked Mathieu many questions about the area ( both Montreal and Canada), dining locations ( for example, Au Pied de Cochon was a wonderful choice for poutine with four gras), politics, economy plus which he answered to his best. Very interesting and concise facts were provided, such as the piece of the Berlin Wall in the underground city. Old Montreal is a very colorful, fun city steeped in a lot of history. The tour was invaluable to one who visited Montreal for the first time.

Approximately how much walking does this tour entail? We are seniors and don't want to slow the group down. Also, what is the cost to add a tour of the inside of Notre Dame? Thank you.

The walking was at a relaxed pace with lots of stops along the way. Our guide was well into his 60's. The cost for going inside the cathedral was nominal and well worth it - its breath taking.

We plan to be in Montreal for only 1day. What is the best private 4hour morning tour to get the best overview of the City? We like to mix walking and driving.

We really liked our private tour of Old Montreal. That being said, I’m not sure it’s what you’re looking for. Our tour was two hours long, and covered Old Montreal. If you are looking for a tour that covers more of the city, then our tour probably isn’t for you. Maybe consider a hop-on/hop-off tour? (Definitely check out their route, though.) Enjoy your visit. We really liked Montreal.
