    Unexpected and Delightful
It really is worth the long drive from Cairns and the entrance fee. The history of the Paronella family was related admirably by guides, Bill and Shelley as we walked around the gardens. Jose’s entrepreneurship, his and Margurite’s industry in creating beautiful pleasure gardens, with entertainment and hospitality are mind-boggling. Equally admirable is the re-awakening of the site by the present owners, preserving the history, telling the stories and showcasing the structures that remain, in an environment that is a joy to explore. There are snacks, good lunch offerings, tea and coffee to be enjoyed on the veranda overlooking the gardens. Loan umbrellas are available for visitors when the weather is showery. There are 40plus stone steps down to the lower garden but guests with mobility issues will be driven down and up again on request.

    DISAPPOINTED AS TOO EXPENSIVE
I was so looking forward to visiting this place as had heard about it some years ago Finally got there but for tourists and pensioners the admission fee was over the top $57 or $52 for pensioners Apparently this covers 24 months but how many tourists would re visit There were three of us that was over $150 If the entrance fee had been $20-25 each we would have visited so unfortunately our business was lost I believe it is a beautiful place if I win lotto will go back

Paronella Park two night caravan stop
From the time we arrived and were met personally by Mark the owner with umbrellas and directions to our campsite we were impressed with the enthusiasm of all the staff here. The campsite and facilities were clean and had everything we needed, and the spot is peaceful and tropical. Because we stayed onsite we could have sundowners by the waterfall and hear the falls at night while we slept. Bill did our day tour and he was informative and entertaining- everyone was so helpful. We also enjoyed the night tour with music and lights and be sure to have the scones at the cafe! Such a good way to immerse yourself in the history of this national trust property which is being lovingly preserved for future generations.

This one is not to miss
Really enjoyed the park. Looking at how the buildings were built and how the falls were named. Really enjoyed this great place. If taking small children be prepared to carry them quite a bit. Fantastic for everyone. Don't miss it as it's worth the drive

    Sydney to Cairns 2023
We drove up from Townsville to Mena Creek where The Peronnella Park is located. A lovely drive through sugar cane and banana plantations. We booked in for one night at their camp ground which was included with the Admission tickets for both the Day and Night tour. There are limited parks for campervans and caravans and a few cabins available. The cabins done have toilet or showers. The facilities were clean and tidy and the grounds we'll kept. The park is well worth the tour both day and night tours were great. The park has been through several floods as it's nestled below a warefall. The park was created by one man and it was for his fiance back in Europe but when he went back for her after a number of years, she'd moved on and married another so he married her sister and they had their family here. An interesting fact about the park us that it had one of the first hydro electric plants in the country and it still powers the park though it has been refurbished. There is a nice cafe on site. Bring plenty of insect spray if you do the night tour. Guides are very good.

Wonderful day at a park with so much history
We went with Simon from Tropic Tours. Visits included Babinda Boulders, Etty Bay, Paronella Park with Tea at the Mena Creek Hotel. A wonderful experience in a truly lovely forest area with amazing water flows and an inspiring history of perseverance and dedication. A hugely knowledgeable guide, Simon has a family link to the park and instilled his personable touch to the story. The night light show was a highlight. Highly recommend this trip.

A wonderful tour of the ancient Paranella Park, highly recommended to everyone. We have been twice and both tours were amazing, the guides are full of knowledge.

Mesmerizing attraction in the rainforest fantastic attraction
This was a fantastic way to spend the afternoon/evening. We did the afternoon tour at about 3:30pm. Then walked across the suspension bridge to the mena ck pub and had dinner. Then went back to the park for night tour. Megan was our tour guide and the passion and dedication of her and all the staff was like nothing I’ve ever seen. Well done guys. Very highly recommend

    Quite quirky and interesting.
I’ve been wanting to visit Paronella Park ever since I first saw it on a travel show many years ago My expectations were that it was like visiting ruins of one man’s vision from a century ago that was now under construction to, not bring it back to it’s former glory, but to slow down the deterioration process avoiding the whole Park turning completely into rumble over the next few decades. So with that thought in mind, I wasn’t disappointed in what I saw but personally I don’t feel as though I need to revisit there again but would still recommend travellers going past to drop in as it’s history is quite quirky and interesting especially with all the information we received from our guided tour,

    Do a Tour With Trudy
My sister her friend and myself did the 3pm tour with Trudy, It was amazing, Trudy had so much knowledge which she shared with us. I would go back just to do another tour with Trudy. Nothing was to much trouble and she make us all feel welcome.

    Passionate owners
I'm not sure I've ever been to a business where you can say the owners are as passionate and dedicated as Mark & Judy. When Mark speaks you can hear how much they respect what the Paronella family have created and their story. Tour guide Younes was well educated in the grounds and all its history. He had a comical side and embraced the crazy kids we had. Our day tour was great, we walked and listened to our tour guide and then set off to explore. Kids under 5 managed the walk with no real issues. Pram/wheel chair friendly as they offer you a lift down the hill if required. The night tour was spectacular, very tranquil and a little surreal something like this is still around. Over all a great experience. One small whine - more signage/larger signals of where things were/used to be/what they are, maybe even a photo or two in some places, but as I said small things. Thanks for a great day/night out.

    Simply Magical
Oh wow thank you Jose Paronella for turning your dream and vision into reality for people like me to enjoy. What an incredible and serene location. Learning of your journey and tragedies along the way make this place even more beautiful. Congratulations and what a wonderful experience you created for us. A must see in FNQ. Entry ticket gets you 2 x to enter including night show and one night complimentary at caravan park.

    Overnight cabins
These small but adequate cabins are great for an overnight sleep over. The do not have ensuites but the toilet block is close by. If you are driving up to the park this is a great alternative to driving back in the dark

    An absolute must see.
This place is extraordinary. Its creation at all tells of one man's determination to make his dreams come true, and the legacy is maintained by family and now the new owners. The staff could not be friendlier, and our guide Angie was full of knowledge and extremely personable. All physical abilities are well catered for, and everything is accessible. The grounds are magnificent by day and night - I strongly recommend both a day and night tour. The accommodation and facilities were great too. Throw in the Skywalk and a meal at the Mena Hotel and you have the perfect day.

    Disappointed in cost
I'd heard so many amazing stories about this place and I'm sure if the cost wasn't so high, we could have experienced that for ourselves. We walked up the stairs and were greeted by a person who explained what the cost of the visit included, when I asked. I felt it was excessive! All we wanted to do was to explore the beautiful gardens. The $55.00 included a guided tour, a stay for one night on the property somewhere and a complimentary pass for 2 years. I mentioned that we already had a booking at another caravan park and that because we lived so far away, we would not get the use out of a 2 year pass, complimentary or not. We're from Bundaberg, so not local.. how on earth could we make use of that!? Very nice for local people, I'm sure. The trip we did north was a once in a lifetime thing for us.... super disappointed that it was expected for us to pay for services that we were not going to use.

Me and my partner bought a day ticket, which gave us a full day to explore the park, do the evening tour and a free night at the campsite!
A truly magical place and a great piece of history you can really feel Jose’s dream come to life. Our tour guide in the day was Bill, he was absolutely amazing and helped make the park come alive with his informative tour and definitely made us want to come back with his enthusiasm! Les and Diane were a great help and provided a very interesting night tour of the park. The park is a whole different experience at night and the light and music show was fantastic.
I would recommend anyone to come here and visit in the day and night and if you’re travelling 100% use the free night at the campsite with your ticket admission. Thanks to all the staff at Paronella Park!
Also we saw lots of wild snapping turtles at the park which was a true wonder to see!

Julian the tour guide was phenomenal, shout out to him- his enthusiasm and effortless storytelling was exemplary. It was a great tour and about 2h exploring, but very steep price. At 57pp it seems too steep. For those who might return in 2years or those that are camping there, it presents good value but there should be a different price for short term 1-of entry. I would rate 5 stars if the price was 35 or 40 dollars

We were not sure what to expect after having visited Paronella Park over 45 years ago BC (before children) when there were no tours and we guided ourselves around the park. Our impressions then were of an attraction with an interesting history but we weren’t sure that it was something we needed to re-visit. What a surprise we had then when we visited this tourist attraction today, arriving in pouring rain to be greeted by the owner ( with umbrellas for us) in the carpark to help us check in with our caravan, giving good advice as to where would be best to get a site. Where else do you get this service from the owner of any Australian tourist attraction??? We opted for the Paddock caravan park, which is brand new, has big powered sites, absolutely fabulous & clean amenities – some of the best we have seen. Did I mention that our caravan stay (1 night) is included, no extra charge, in the cost of an entry ticket to the park (no hidden costs) ?? We had a great guided day tour of the park, courtesy of Ken, which finally gave us a comprehensive picture of the history of the place, and decided to return for the evening show at 6.45pm which was well worth the return to the park. The story of Jose Paronella and the building of Paronella Park is an inspiring and stunning testament to the fulfilment of one man’s dream, one which is part of our history. It was obvious that Mark & Judy Evans, current owners, have done an amazing job with maintenance, restoration, and stabilisation of the original structures and maintained the historic integrity of the property in doing so. The property has survived and flourished against the odds, following several floods, cyclones and fire. The history of the property alone is interesting, the visual impact and beauty of the tropical rainforest and flora is a credit to the passion of the current owners to restore this property as a significant piece of the area’s history and a tribute to the dream and innovation of Jose Paronella. I could use many superlatives to describe this but by far it is better to highly recommend a visit to this beautiful and interesting place. Don’t miss it!!

My husband and I spent a happy few hours at Paronella Park. First we joined the super interesting 35 minute guided tour, and then we spent a couple of hours wandering around the gardens and ruins by ourselves. We had our lunch in the cafe - very good and reasonably priced meat and salad sandwiches - and fed the turtles and fish their lunch! The entry fee was a little steep, but we can see that the gounds and ruins need money for ongoing maintenance!

We popped in on Tues 28 May 2024.
This is an absolutely fantastic attraction and experience.
Please add this to your itinerary - you will not be disappointed.
We visited in the daytime - there are guided tours every 30 minutes. This is the story of a hard-working Italian who built the whole Park by himself, in the early 1900’s.
There is also a café and shop there. Plenty parking.
Highly recommended.

We did the day tour and night tour as well as stayed in one of the cabins.

Day and night tour were very good, Les explained things amazingly and in a very interesting way! Mark (the owner) made an appearance for the night tour and you could see how truly passionate he is about the park!

The cabin was cosy, it had AC, TV, potable water and all the basic necessities. It also included private outdoor parking. Bathrooms were separate to the cabin. Overall the cabin was very well equipped and very comfortable! However it is quite small and the shared male toilets were a touch mouldy.

Would definately recommend coming and getting the full experience (day and night tour, stay) otherwise the price might be a bit steep for just the one tour, and you won’t get the full picture! It is also quite lovely that you can come back for free within 2 years and combine your ticket with that of the Mamu skywalk to make it cheaper!

We made a return visit to Cairns so we could mark this place off our bucket list and we were not disappointed. Julie rang early in the morning to arrange our dinner bookings as they looked like they were going to be busy, which was a nice touch. Trudi couldn't have been more helpful. Margarite took our day tour, she was able to throw her voice even to the back of the group so no one missed out on hearing this amazing story. We had a short talk from Mark the owner at the start of the tour which was again a nice personal touch

Only good things can be written about this park. Should you be a travelling camper, your entrance to Paronella Park includes one night stay in their second-to-none camp area on site. From being greeted on arrival to day and evening tours then farewell on leaving, this is a must do experience. You are free to wander around the park, over the falls on suspension bridge, have coffee in their cafe or just veg out at your camp site. It's all there. A long way from my home but I certainly would welcome a second visit should an opportunity present itself.

I don’t remember how I learned about Paronella Park, but I’m glad that I did. I felt a bit disappointed when I saw it from the outside, and I said to myself that this was one of those things where the website photos swoon you and everything falls flat in real life. All a myth! Paronella Park was enchanting, and made more charming by the story of love and hard work behind it.

What we loved about the experience: friendly and knowledgeable staff. A shout out to Daniel and Sarah at reception, Macca and Brie for being such enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides (day and night, respectively), and Mark — he just happens to own the park! But really, he was not just knowledgeable and humble, but you could feel his deep love for both the park and his staff!

Things to know: the admission ticket of AUD$52 per adult entitles you to unlimited entry for 2 years, which includes a day and night entry and one night accommodation at their cabin within a year of your last visit. Doing both day and night visits are highly recommended. The day tour gives you a feel of the entire park, while the night tour focuses on a mesmerizing light and sound show. The day tour runs every 30 minutes; while the night and light show that runs for 45 minutes has three “show times” that start at 6.30pm (note: be there 15 minutes prior). Interestingly, you can ask the reception staff to organise your dinner reservation at the nearby Mena Creek Hotel.

A visit to Paronella Park is a highly recommended must-do!

To be honest I am a little confused reading many of these reviews. We really didn't find this a five star experience. The scenic flight we took over the Barrier Reef was five star, the dive tour we took was five star, Josephine Falls is five star ... Paronella Park is not a five star experience - especially at the prices they charge for entry.

We did both the day and night tours and while I enjoyed them both I would be hesitant to recommend them without reservations.

The pros: It's honestly a really beautiful part of the world and the staff are all incredibly enthusiastic about showing it to you. We had Mandy as our tour guide and she worked overtime to try to share her enthusiasm of the history of the park with us. The history is actually quite fascinating and we really enjoyed listening to her commentary. The night tour is lovely and we had a truly magical moment when the park came alive with fireflies while the music was playing.

The cons: There is really only one big downside. The price. The ticket cost includes the day tour, the night tour, camping costs and a 24 month return ticket. Fabulous for the numerous grey nomads who were travelling through with campers. Equally fabulous for locals who can enjoy the return ticket (or campers returning down the coast later in the year). What it really discriminates against is the day tripper. We were a family of four, staying in a hotel in Port Douglas. We reside in SEQ and have no plans to return to FNQ in the next 5+ years. We were keen to see the park so travelled down for the day but at $142 for the family pass it was incredibly over priced. There isn't a lot you can compare it to but we did say that it had a bit of a Port Arthur vibe at times. Now considering that places like Port Arthur are a portion of the entry cost and include considerably more value. Think family entry with a harbour cruise, 2 year return entry, full day experience vs. a few hours and many times bigger. It's really hard to justify paying this much for a lovely garden with a few ruins and a waterfall.

I'm disappointed that there wasn't a cheaper entry option for day visitors. We were really excited to see Paronella but ultimately it was one of the more disappointing ventures in our 10 day stay in the region. I would highly recommend that day trippers give it a miss. You really just won't get value for your money and there are so many fabulous places to visit that won't leave a sour taste in your mouth and are better bang for your buck. If you are going to use the accommodation it's probably worth considering as it's a lovely venue if the price was a little more reasonable.

At $142 it was vastly over priced for a family ticket. For a day visit appropriate pricing would probably have been in the vicinity of $80-$90. That would have been fair for the inclusions when compared to other offerings locally and nationally.
