Excellent experience! So glad we did it!
Jul 2020 • Couples
We came from Amalfi to Capri with a ferry. At the pier you will see the booth where you can buy your tickets. It’s only for the boat tour around Capri and Anacapri. For the blue grotto experience you have to pay right at the spot if it’s open on that day. Our tour was amazing. All commentary was in Italian but my husband translated for me the main points. You can take breathtaking photos and videos. They will take you to see the white, red and green grotto, Faraglioni (the rock formations with the arch- you will go through it with the boat) and other sites (art statue on the rock, villa, lighthouse and caves from far away). When you finally arrive to Blue Grotto, you may choose if you want to pay extra and go in or not (if you are not claustrophobic, don’t even hesitate! It’s magical!). Time-wise it was exactly 2 hours as promised. We left at 12 and came back at 2 PM. My advice is to take sunglasses and a hat and apply sunscreen because you are going to be exposed to sun at all times. And have comfortable clothing and shoes because if you do the Blue Grotto, you gonna have to climb out of the boat you are in to the smaller one and lay on the bottom of it. Also, you may get a little bit wet from the waves.

Capri Island Tour Minus Blue Grotto stop - 2.15pm tour [last of the day]
Oct 2019
End October 2019

When I booked this tour for E19 I was told we would only go past the Blue Grotto due to high tide but would see the others. Didn't matter to me.

I was expecting a small ferry but we got a water taxi type boat similar to those in Venice. No safety vests, wooden seating around the boat and the captain steering in the middle. Was sitting very low in the water. We were 15 people plus the skipper.

It was an adventure to say the least! Super choppy at times, but I don't mind that but it was clear some were scared and held on for dear life. There was plenty to see and photograph. We even saw how they get the diving instructor and their dingy back by pulling it along behind us.

Commentary was in English and Italian only.

It is advertised for 1.5hrs, but went for almost 2, so make sure you have enough time to make your ferry home.

Most of the better photo opportunities were for those sitting on the right side of the skipper. *Keep an eye out for - the tiny Jesus, little mermaid waving and the lighthouse.

Clothing: I highly recommend a hat, wind jacket, scarf and sun screen.
Camera: definitely, I kept my phone well away as I was too worried that it would fall in the ocean.
Tips: some gave and some didn't

I would highly recommend the end of day tour as we got our moneys worth despite not seeing the Blue Grotto.

Lies
Oct 2019 • Couples
We chose this more expensive tour because we were told it would be on the small boats which we preferred. But we were loaded onto a large boat. They told some people they would stop at the blue grotto so they could do that but told others it was just a tour around the island. It can't be both since the grotto takes 2+ hours, so they lied. The boat left 25 minutes late so they made 60 people stand on the dock wasting their precious vacation time as they were on Italian time.

The commentary was good and the captain circled the boat so everyone could get pictures.

Yellow Line + Blue Grotto - Not Many Other Options Can beat the Price - But you get what you pay for
May 2019
We knew from the reviews that the Blue Grotto was a hit/miss or could be a long wait. Just like with the weather, you can't control the tides. So stop complaining. It is all over their website and advertisements that they cannot guarantee a trip into the blue grotto. What they don't tell you is that when you sign up for an English tour the guide barely speaks English. And speaks in Italian first when you are at different landmarks and as you are driving away mumbles what he said in English. Also that the Captain is allowed to smoke so everyone in the back of the boat has to deal with that. We enjoyed our tour around Capri very much but that's because it is incredibly beautiful. Not due to this tour company. However, the low cost compared to others was a great option for traveling on a budget.

Do NOT do this tour!!!
I wish I could give a ZERO. I am incredibly angry that I wasted my morning and 18 euros with this company! Upon arriving on Capri, I immediately booked a boat to the Blue Grotto. The blue line went straight to the grotto and the yellow did a short tour around the island first and then stopped at the grotto. I decided to do yellow. MISTAKE! The ride around the island is nice but the guide sounded bored. And the when we arrived at the Blue Grotto, he told us the wait at this point was over 2 hours, "which would be crazy to wait" so we were not stopping and heading back to port. When everyone got angry because stopping at the grotto was the whole reason we were on this boat, he proceeded to tell us that the tour price with and without the blue grotto stop was the same because sometimes the grotto is closed or the wait is too long. When selling you this ticket, they NEVER ONCE said they won't stop if the wait is long! He then tells us if we want to see the Blue Grotto, our best bet would be to take the bus and then wait on the stairs. If I wanted to do that, I wouldn't have bought the f*$%ing ticket for the boat! It is well known there would be a wait for the entrance. I paid for the boat because I'd rather wait sitting and reading on a boat then standing on stairs. It took longer than 2 hours to wait for the bus and then wait on the stairs. Wasted half my day on Capri and really put a damper on my whole day.

Don’t do this tour.
We bought a ticket for an island tour. Little did we know that this actually included an hours wait at the blue grotto. There were people on our boat with a yellow and pink ticket so they had clearly combined two tours on one boat. We were told the tour would last 2 hours and 15 minutes when in actual fact it was much longer than that. The crew were unprofessional and were shouting at each other. There was no water or toilet on board which is obviously not ideal for people staying on a boat for a long time. Just don’t do this tour.

Don't Do It!

This is a review of Motoscafisti Island Tour + stop by Blue Grotto - Yellow Line.

This experience was a scam and I don’t recommend it to anyone. We were told that we would have the opportunity to see both the island and to then stop at the blue grotto where we would switch to a smaller boat run by a different company and enter the blue grotto for an additional fee.

What happened was unfortunately a well run scam on unsuspecting tourist who booked this yellow line tour with a stop at the blue grotto.
When the tour around the island was done and we headed over to the blue grotto, the driver of the boat tried to find other boats that would be willing to take his passengers so that he would not have to wait for our turn to get into the blue grotto. As is usual, that wait can be up to several hours. This tour group is well aware of those expectations during this time of year, so this was not a surprise to them. There are trip advisor reviews showing that others have experienced the same. No other tour boat could handle additional passengers, so he unilaterally decided to leave the blue grotto area and head back to port. I along with most of the other passengers who paid for a stop at the blue grotto protested loudly so he decided to lie to us and promised to drop off those who did not want to enter the grotto and return immediately with those who did. That decision was not well received by most on the boat because it would add at least a 45 minute to one hour delay but he nonetheless proceeded to port. The moment the boat was docked, we were told to disembark. Of course, all of the passengers who wanted to go to the blue grotto asked what boat was going to take us back. Neither the driver of the boat or any of his co-workers on shore would answer us. They insisted we get off the boat and then, when everyone was off, told us that the blue grotto was closed. That was another lie. We were there earlier and had a spot in line to enter the grotto. However, due to their dishonest practices we lost our spot in line. The other boats at the blue grotto were not returning to port. They remained out by the grotto and those lucky passengers were able to go into the blue grotto.

Due to their dishonest practices, we were denied a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the blue grotto.

From our experience during our wait for them to offload us at the blue grotto, this tour group did not try to aggressively find small boats for its passengers like the other tour boats in front of the grotto. If actually getting into the blue grotto is important to you, do not use Motoscafisti Yellow Line Tour of the Island and Blue Grotto.

The entire experience was stressful and all involved with Motoscafisti were uniformly rude from the moment we arrived on the dock.

I do not want to see this happen to other travelers. I would suggest booking with another tour group. We were unfortunately tied into this group since we prebooked. We do not suggest you do this since it was unnecessary. There were many options at the dock to book on sight.

Don't be fooled the Blue Grotto is extra
Jul 2019 • Family
This was a great way to see the sights of Capri and I would recommend it for 18 euros, but no matter what promises are made at the dock you Will and I mean Will pay more to get inside the blue grotto. That is if the grotto is open to enter, any wind the night before causes the waves to rise and close the opening. Remember the opening is only over a metre wide and high and if you get in you only spend a couple of minutes in there. How do you get into the grotto when you pull up n the large tour boat, easy you transfer to a small whaler. Is this included in the price NO, they can charge you up to 40 euros for the experience. So you paid the extra for your bucket list activity and que with every other boat to get into the grotto, if it takes more than 45 minutes to get into the grotto the tour boat reserves the right to leave you there and return to port. Think about it, the rest of the tourists want to get on and continue with their day.
Don't get me wrong, this is a great activity and recommended just go in with your eyes open.
Capri lives on tourists and the prices are set for tourists and the rich. A Italian friend of mine said that if they can work out away to charge you for the air you breath they will.

Didn't stop at blue grotto
Jul 2019 • Couples
I had high hopes for this, but when we showed up at the dock after the 50 minute Ferry ride it was chaos. There was no way to tell which boats were "yellow line" and which were "blue line". Eventually the "yellow line" people were loaded onto a motorboat that easily held at least 50 if not 75 people - very crowded. The "Tour" was not worth it - half the people on the boat couldn't get good views because it goes only in one direction around the island, so if you were on the other side you only really saw the Med. Stops included waiting in a line of boats to creep into a tiny inlet so people could peer over the side of the boat and try to spot orange coral under the water? Then we got to the Blue Grotto and the driver announced the wait was too long and we wouldn't be stopping. He said our tickets were good for getting on another boat back at the dock and going directly there - in other words, taking the "blue line" boat instead, which we should have just done in the first place apparently. There was another 20 minute wait for the Blue Line boats to just show up, and then you have to wait at the blue grotto to get in (we were told it would be 2 hours, but I think they greatly exaggerated that). We found out on the island that you can just rent a boat yourself for $60 euro. That would have been a MUCH better way to go, as the grotto is very close to the marina (maybe 5-10 minutes by boat).

Booked the boat ride online and have to collect paper tickets at dock n.0 once getting to Capri. Boat ride was nice with english and italian speaker explaining different points. Boat didnt stop at blue grotto though as they said the wait was too long so we got back to the start and off the boat and they said a different boat would take us there if we wanted
