      Solving Clues
I’d recommend it if you want to explore a bit more about the city and solve clues, kept us occupied for a good 3 hours… Absolutely beautiful city to see and we had fun trying to figure out the answers.

Visiting Chester with friends. What a fabulous way to see the city. We had a fab time seeing the main historical sites with a few pub stops on the way. Can take your time, great extra information along the way. Loved the clues, a little challenging at times- gets you looking around even more but you can get hints on the way if you get really stuck. Great way to see the city. Would highly recommend.

Brilliant idea! A great way to see the city and find hidden gems. Loved the architecture and the history. Clues are challenging and we needed a few hints (especially after stopping at a couple of pubs on the way) Really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone who is looking for something a bit different to do in the city - wear comfortable shoes! You will walk miles!!

I loved it , seeing things in the city that I would never have noticed , solving clues and getting exercise, what’s not to love. The price is good for the amount of entertainment you get , it’s a lot cheaper than an escape rooms and loads more fun . Can’t wait to do the next one . Liverpool here I come .

My family and I loved treasure hunt Chester and had a fun day out playing it. The route was pretty and showed us the best of Chester. There were lots of interesting buildings and alleys that the hunt showed us which I had not noticed before despite having lived in Chester a few years ago.

Solving the clues was really satisfying and it was lovely to do it with the family and feel like a team. Chester is a great city to do it in because it has such wonderfully ornate details there is loads of quirky stuff to spot.

I liked that we could go at our own pace and stop for coffee or lunch whether we saw a nice spot. We took a buggy with our baby daughter and we appreciated that the route was accessible for us with dropped kerbs and no steps.

All in all we had a great day out and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Chester or see it in a new way.

As others have said, its a great way to get a slightly different tour of the city, it will take you out and around certain streets and areas that otherwise you'd never see or would pass by without a second thought. The info given in the areas is a nice addition too and gives you a better understanding of some of the history than you would get if just wandering about on your own. Possibly not quite as informative as a "full" guided tour though, but that's just speculation.
The fact that you have to buy a minimum of two tickets at nearly £10 each even if you're only using one phone is a little steep. However, it lasted a lot longer than we expected it to so we still feel like it was good value for money. Ensure your phone is fully charged and/or you have a power bank with you, taking photos as well drained my phone pretty low by the end.

Thanks for such a helpful 5-star review. I'm really pleased you enjoyed some of the extra information you learn along the way and you thought it was good value. Great tip about the power-bank, too! Thanks again and hope to see you on another hunt in the future. Ian

The treasure hunt was fun and we got to see a few things we didn't know were there. Unfortunately some building work stopped us being able to find one of the clue answers and another clue wasn't accessible due to other people being sat where we needed to look. The hints were helpful most of the time but we did have issues with Internet network on bridge St so never found the hints. The chat-style narration was fun, as were the pirate themed maps. Not a bad afternoons entertainment at £10.

Hi Paula - glad you had fun and thanks for the feedback. The building work: as soon as we heard about that we temporarily removed that clue. We located the person responsible at the Council to find out when it would be complete. Unfortunately you got there before we did, so I'm sorry that it impacted your experience. Paul ⚔️ (co-founder)

This is a fun way to explore the city and see things that one otherwise wouldn't. I can't give 5 stars because of the stealth price. It says £9.95 but when 'booking' it's a minimum of 2 people. The thing is, the number of people is irrelevant. You are simply paying to access the website.

I'm sorry you didn't find it good value. We charge per person, like all tours and most activities. We certainly didn't intend it to feel like a "stealth price" so I'm sorry that it came across that way. It takes an enormous amount of work to design, create, maintain, support and update the games. We're a two-person independent business and we strive to make high quality games. That doesn't come for nothing. Paul ⚔️ (co-founder)

The Chester treasure hunt was a really fun activity to do. We loved puzzling out the clues and each one of us was able to contribute something to solve the puzzles.

This activity was a great way to explore the city and we spent four hours on the treasure hunt, with leisurely stops for lunch, coffee and ice cream but equally , if you wanted to challenge yourself against the clock, you could skip the food breaks!
One of the best aspects of the treasure hunt was the fact that it took us to parts of the city we did not know about and would have missed if we were just exploring by ourselves and it also provided interesting facts and anecdotes about these areas. On a previous visit to Chester, we just ambled rather aimlessly but the treasure hunt provided a focus and also enabled us to find eateries and coffee shops just off the main streets which we would not have stumbled upon by ourselves.
The clues were varied and provided just the right element of challenge. I liked the ‘ hints’ option which you could press if you were stuck which gave just enough information to help you solve the next clue.
This is a great activity to do when COVID restrictions are eased as it is all outside.

First visit to Chester. This was a fun and great way to see a beautiful city. We had a baby and buggy with us so the accessible route options were really helpful. Relys on a good Internet connection, ours was OK for the most part only it wasn't great at the start by the town hall so recommend loading the game in advance of arriving there.

It's lovely to hear you had fun and managed with the buggy. We've worked hard to design all our 14 games to be wheelchair (and buggy) accessible, lovely when it pays off! Thank you for writing this! Paul ⚔️ (co-founder)

We had a fantastic time exploring some lesser known parts of Chester, probably walked further than we needed to, due to my failure in following what are actually excellent maps 😀, but regardless of that we all loved it.

I think I messed up the registration by sharing the link to the rest of our party in a WhatsApp group, so we all ended up on the same log with no means of separating individual scores, so I'd recommend you don't do that if you're looking for a competition.

It didn't spoil our enjoyment one bit though, thanks for the fun and education.

This is the second one of these we have done (Birmingham and now Chester too) and we absolutely love them. Some clues are tricky (there are hints if you need them), some are easier and they take you to places you'd never see if you were just walking around. SUCH fun, would highly recommend to anyone visiting a city, with or without kids. Mine are 12 and 14 and loved it...
