        Some nice views
Started the bus tour at the promenade in Bournemouth which ended in the Poole harbour area and took approx 1 hour 30 mins round trip. Noted there was space for a wheelchair/ pushchair.Tour is guided by a pre recording as driven along. Did get a few photos of the harbour along the way ( there was more than one). Had thought there would be an opportunity to see more of the cliffs but actually went through some of the more expensive residential areas that wasnt unpleasant but not expected for a coastal tour. Found out from the lady at the kiosk outside the pier bus station that there is another mini bus tour they do for more able bodied visitors who want to go to the jurassic cliffs but this is self guided.

        Fun day out
We were a group of 11 women away for a weekend catch up. David our driver and Leo the ticket seller was both good in arranging a discount for our large group and making us all laugh. The bus was spotlessly clean and the commentary clear and informative. We caught the bus in Bournemouth and got off in Poole. After spending a few hours in Poole we went to the bus stop to head back to Bournemouth only to find the street closed for St Georges day parade. Being unsure where to catch the bus from now we started to walk in the direction the bus would be coming from. When we saw the bus we were able to flag it down and explain the road was closed ahead. The driver hadn't been informed about this. After checking in with the company he came upstairs to let everyone know he was unable to go further due to the unexpected road closer and was able to turn the bus around in ba small area. We would definitely do the to again if we are in the area again. There are some beautiful sights to see along the way.

Nice informative tour and boat cruise
Booked bus tour and boat cruise, was looked after by staff on both the bus and boat. Not the best weather but really enjoyed. Good local knowledge via commentary

        A nice change
We didn't use it as it should as we only caught the bus from Canford Cliffs into Poole which took about 45 minutes and went via Sandbanks. Lovely sunny day so sat upstairs in the open. A bit pricy for doing as we did but it made a nice change to getting a taxi. Bus was running very late to the supposed timetable.

Great bus tour - try it
We did this bus tour today October 8 2020. This is excellent value for money, it takes you all over Bournemouth and Poole to places you wouldn’t think of or know how to get to in your car or on foot. A real good informative tour with a friendly helpful driver.

        Don’t waste your money
Firstly it’s a nightmare to find the bus stop...all the signs say the bus stop is out of use due to COVID but after waiting an hour the bus arrived at said bus stop... This is the worst bus trip we’ve been on and we’ve done loads of cities throughout the uk.. it’s a waste of time and money. Nothing of interest to see and we passed at least 3 churches and none even got a mention! Boring trip.

Good bus tour; Poor communication about boat combo
Nothing wrong with the tour itself. It's a good way to see the coast between Bournemouth and Poole. We bought the combination bus and boat package which includes one of two boat trip options from Poole. None of the website, the onboard brochure or the driver mentioned that you have to show your bus ticket at the City Cruises kiosk in Poole to be issued with a boat ticket, nor that you have to pre-book the boat trip. We had planned to take the ferry to Swanage. As it turned out, all sailings that day were fully booked. We instead took a harbor tour which was excellent. When I mentioned to the woman at the boat kiosk that there had been no explanation about the boat booking/ticketing process by City Sightseeing she said that many people had told her that and that many of those had yelled at her. She further said that she had called City Sightseeing that morning to tell them that most boats were fully booked but that they apparently hadn't communicated that to their passengers. The City Sightseeing website and brochure do mention that space on boats can't be guaranteed. But, without any info of what you actually have to do to get a place on a boat, that's not at all helpful.

        Poor organisation
Bought a bus and boat ticket from tourist office Bournemouth. Bus ran behind so impossible to get the boat time we wanted. Then told that you have to queue at a booth with one person serving as the email ticket given doesn’t have enough information on it in order to get on the boat. No information given about process at any stage. If hadn’t already paid would have given up with the whole idea.

A grwat way to see Bournemouth
I enjoyed a tour on the city sightseeing bus around the delights of both Poole and Bournemouth. The driver was very friendly and the commentary was excellent and you learn so much on a Tour Bus. I got some amazing pictures of some of the sights. I would highly recommend you go on the tour bus and make sure you bring a camera to capture memories for a life time.

It is a pitty that unlike city sightseeing in most countries in Europe with the same company offer commentaries in quite a few languages through ear phones. Here it was only in English, (Brexit?), so I had to wisper quick translations to my wife who speaks three Eurpean languages but not English. Nevertheless, I am giving 5 points in my evaluation and that is thanks to your driver Cindy. She was a magnificent driver. Witty, kind, and her commentaries were most interesting, humorous at times and very educational. She made of our tour something memorable. The company is lucky to have an employee of her callibre.

Great service to see Bournemouth and Poole
This was a great way to travel around Bournemouth, Sandbanks, the Chines and Poole. A really interesting tour of the area with lots of detail and some great local knowledge. It runs once an hour and the last bus from Poole was 6pm but certainly a reasonable price for a day out.

Hop on hop off bus trip that takes around one and three quarter hours if you do a round trip. A great away of seeing Poole and Bournemouth. Commentary very informative. We had a female driver who was very entertaining.

Always the best bet when you don't know what you don't know!
We boarded in Poole and got off in Bournemouth for a walk up the pier and some lunch in the gardens which were a delight. The commentary on the bus was very good and informative and the drivers we had on the day were all very friendly. Despite some really really bad coach parking at Bournemouth Pier our driver was pleasant and friendly even though he was clearly very frustrated with all the traffic backing up behind him. We hopped off again and walked around the beach at Sandbanks and had to run to catch the bus back to Poole Quay. It was a great way to see the local area and definitely the trip to do.

We have used your bus tours around the world, and have been very satisfied, until yesterday.
We boarded the 2pm tour starting at Bournemouth Pier, and exited the bus in Poole, to catch a later bus back. The driver of this tour was exceptional, and couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful.

HOWEVER, the driver on our return was the exact opposite. At 5:50, we boarded the last tour leaving Poole, 10 minutes before departure at 6pm. He was immediately rude with us: glaring and confrontationally asking what we had been doing to be catching the last bus? Not sure what business that was of his, but we laughed it off.

He then asked how far we were going, and we said back to Bournemouth. Where in Bournemouth he asked, and we said right back to the pier, as we were staying at the Royal Bath Hotel. He said ‘fine’, which we thought was weird, as that’s where the tour ends!

We noticed there were 2 other passengers seated at the back of the lower deck, and we went upstairs with our disabled daughter, and sat at the front. She was very excited about finishing the bus tour!

Then the bus departed, but there was no commentary; so at the first stoplight I went over and pushed the button, and when he stopped I went downstairs to inquire about this. The driver apologised and said he’d put it on.

The commentary started, but was stilted, i.e. it kept coming on and then going silent, without the corney ‘Bournemouth’ song playing in between.

We then realised we were not following the return route, and in Bournemouth he didn’t take us through to Hinton Rd and back to the pier, but came down Exeter Rd off Poole Rd, and dropped us off outside the Hermitage Hotel.

It was announced this was the final stop, and all passengers needed to depart. However, when we came down the stairs with our disabled daughter (so it took a while), the other 2 passengers were still seated in the back, and making no move to leave.

I politely asked the driver what his name was, and he asked me why? I said I was going to write to the company, and he replied he didn’t have to give me his name. I said “That’s fine, I’m sure they can figure out who was driving the final shift.”

We walked off and he closed the bus doors, driving off with the couple still onboard.

I am astounded that a reputable multinational company like yourselves employ someone who is so rude, and obviously not interested in doing his job. However, he was definitely interested in the other couple on the bus, perhaps running some kind of business on the side?

If you want a round trip fine but be careful.

My first driver drove so fast I felt unwell at the end.
If you sit upstairs on the open deck you could hardly hear the commentary.
I went on the lower deck and could hear some interesting facts.
My biggest disappointment we sailed past the stop for Compton Acres without allowing guests to explore this attraction.
Other hop on off trips do give you the opportunity to press the button to stop the bus.
I sincerely hope these comments are constructive and helpful for both guests and management.

The buses are really old! and quite uncomfortable. (The Golden Tours buses looked amazing and very modern, wish we had used them instead) We also expected the commentary to be more informative and detailed, eg it was very basic info around Sandbanks. Not enough speakers so sometimes hard to hear it as well. The leaflet said you can hail the bus at any bus stop on the route, when trying to get of at a different bus stop to those on the route map the driver told us we could not. The bus and boat price is good. The boat was the best part of this trip, it was excellent and highly recommended.

Really enjoyed the tour but no social distancing in place and couldn’t see any evidence of cleaning in between journeys. The tour itself was informative and funny and the driver was very friendly.
App info needs updating as it says you need to collect tickets at a redemption point near the pier, but this is not the case as they can be collected on the bus.

Hi, Thanks for your review, glad you enjoyed the tour and your driver! Grateful also for the feedback. As a public transport provider we can only advise people to socially distance when on our bus but we, like other bus operators now, do not close off any seats. OUr brochure and website do ask people to sit in their groups, maintain social distancing where possible and not to move around. The buses are cleaned every night and high touch points are wiped with antiviral spray during the day. I will look into the redemption information, can you tell me where you purchased your ticket. You can always simply buy you ticket from the driver, they take cash and cards. Hope to see you again. Thanks

We have been on the Sightseeing tour bus rides in several other cities around the world & in the UK and always found them to be really good and informative. We booked our tickets online and waited to board the tour bus at stop No3 West Cliff. The bus which includes and audio tour takes you to Westbourne, Branksome, Sandbanks, Lilliput Village, Whitecliff Poole Quay before returning back to Bournemouth. We really enjoyed the journey and our visits to Poole and Sandbanks.

Thanks for your review, glad you enjoyed it. Our tour starts and finishes at Bournemouth Pier, but as you highlighted you can join the tour at any of the 23 bus stops along the way. As well as picking up on the West Cliff we also pick up on the East Cliff on the first two runs of the day. Thanks for your review.

We were picked up at the first stop on the tour, opposite the Suncliffe Hotel where we were staying and enjoyed the tour. However we were not told that the bus would NOT return to the bus stop where we had departed from. We were a group of 4 ladies aged 80 and close to 80 and all with health problems and had to walk back to our hotel. This was a considerable distance and all uphill. In addition it was raining torrential and we were all in pain and soaking wet when we arrived. We have all said we would not go back to Bournemouth due to this bad experience.

While on holiday In Bournemouth we were looking forward to learning more about area we were staying in so decided to book the hop on bus
Unfortunately the experience was spoilt by the bad attitude of Dave the driver. He was asked by passengers on several occasions to increase volume of commentary however, his response on each occasion was rude and sarcastic, resulting in us having to strain to hear above traffic noice. The elderly resigned themselves to not hearing
Dave’s bad attitude extended to other road users, pushing the bus through, not giving way. On one occasion necessitating five cars to reverse, who were not happy displaying their opinions with visual responses
We loved Bournemouth and would highly recommend however the attitude of one person spoilt what could have been an enjoyable tour

Very disappointed with this. My husband and I bought a 2 day ticket so we could see everywhere we wanted to. Day 1 was fine, save confusion over where to pick the bus up for return trip. As for day 2, which was today. We were on the top deck and my husband pushed the stop button for us to get off but the driver continued on past the stop. We ended up back at Bournemouth pier and when my husband asked the driver why he didn't stop he said that the bell wasn't working and he should've shouted! This is completely unacceptable. We are told to press the bell to stop and not move about whilst the bus is moving. If the bell was not working we should have been told in advance. As it was our last day we our leaving having not seen everything we wanted. Not happy.

Dear Customer, I am sorry for the inconvenience caused by the faulty button. Due to the buses main feature "open top", however water tight seals are on the buses, water will get in where it wants to, therefore small electrical problems like that do happen from time to time. As these can pop up any moment, the drivers might not be aware of the problem at all during the day. I am sad to hear this one faulty button has ruined your whole two day tour experience so much you had to rate the whole service 1*. I would love to offer you a complimentary bus ticket for your next visit when you are in the area so you can experience any of the stops you wish to or missed out on. You can email us to claim this here: info@citysightseeing-bournemouth.co.uk Thank you, Kind Regards City Sightseeing Bournemouth

First of all. It was very easy to find their stop. But that's about it. No other positive review on this bus. The bus wasn't stong especially on cliffs where driver has to really push the gears so was absolutely uncomfortable noise from the bus and we could barely hear the history of each place we visited. We were only seeing houses and houses of rich people which I have no interest on. I was hoping to see some historical places and churches. To be fair the rain didn't help and to top it all up, there were too many people with babies which means too many push chairs to manage on a very limited space on the bus, it was chaotic 😀 then the water came from nowhere into the bus almost flooded it 😀 I found it amusing because there were disaster after another and people were eating and shouting and the smell of hot food and baby cries spoiled the entire journey. Thank you but no thank you. Never ever again

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to write a review! I would like to say that City Sighseeing Bournemouth is a family attraction and we welcome any ages from all over the world. It is indeed the summer now and Bournemouth is probably the most popular summer spot in the UK due to our miles long golden beach! So yes, if you come on our tour, you will share our double decker bus with families with children. Bournemouth's terrain varies a lot and has a lot of hills but I can assure you, the buses are strong, as they are double decker buses, their engine might roar on the hill going up. I can't say Bournemouth and Poole is as rich in churches and historical places as London or Oxford but we certainly have the views! It sounds like Bourneouth wasn't for you after all.

We got the 48 hour bus and boat ticket which was worth it. We got the 10am bus from Bournemouth with driver George who was very informative about which rich and famous people lived in which houses, the recorded information was also very informative. However on the way back with a different driver the bus had a fault with the doors, the driver didn’t let people stood waiting or those still on the bus know what’s was happening. When the bus did get going he drove quite fast and didn’t speak at all. The atmosphere was lightened by the awful ‘Bournemouth by the sea’ song playing 2 or three times in a row causing laughter among the passengers.
