      Court Garden deserve their awards.
We had a great day out. The tours were informative and fun. Court Garden had some beautiful sparkling wines, they were my favourite by far. High Weald Dairy had their famous Brighton blue for you to try, lovely. Roger was a brilliant host. Would recommend the tour to others.

A great trip for wine and cheese lovers.
A great tour of two English vineyards. Lovely range of wines at the tastings. Both presentations were engaging. Lunch at High Weald dairy was very well presented with another entertaining talk. The tour guide was also very friendly. My only issue was that the lunches had been laid out with meat despite a request for vegetarian.

      Well put together bespoke tour
Danny devised a great bespoke wine tour for us. We are a group of 10 friends, all fairly knowledgeable about wine and its production. Having enjoyed wine tours in France, Spain and Portugal, we felt the time was right to try Sussex. We were not disappointed. Danny was helpful, friendly and insightful throughout. Just a couple of days before our arrival and due to a bout of sunny weather, one of the wineries cancelled because they needed to harvest. A natural hazard. Danny was excellent in finding a more than suitable alternative and we all enjoyed an excellent and very informative day.

Changes to the tour last minute and did not reply to my emails - 0 customer service
I booked an tour for my partner's birthday which was cancelled and ended up choosing another tour, which was the Golf Buggy Safari with African BBQ. On the day of the excursion, an hour before we were informed that we would not be transported in a vintage bus but in a normal van, which I can understand, but they also cancelled the African BBQ for a normal lunch at the excursion site. The food was fine but it took them over an hour to serve it, by then we were already late to the second winery and the guide did nothing to speed up the process, we even waited 20 minutes more at the entrance of the first winery because the driver was nowhere to be seen. When we got to the van they speed up to get to the second winery which ended up with people falling out of their seats and bumping their heads. The following days I contacted them to explain my disappointment with some aspects of the tour and they did not reply to any of my emails. Unfortunately, their poor customer service makes me not recommend them any further. I did another tour with them a few years ago and the experience was great, but they have let us down in many ways.

Great Day Enjoying & Appreciating British Wines 🥂
Went on the tour yesterday. From start to finish we had a great day, the Routemaster was a quirky fun edition to the day, our driver managed to get us there and back safely avoiding all those branches 🙄😁, lovely conductor with his retro ticket machine and our bus tickets and Alan, what a font of experience with a lovely warm friendly temperament who managed to spend quality time chatting to us all and sharing his knowledge. The vineyards firstly Court Garden .. fantastic, a warm welcome from Howard and his team/family, beautiful place, the passion for this family business and their expertise in their products oozed from Chris and Hugo, they were so informative and knowledgeable and the wine was fabulous, the lunch was delicious, catered brilliantly for my husband who is coeliac. Onwards to Bluebell Vineyards.. what a stunning location, to think it used to be home to 10,000 pigs. Again great knowledge from Craig along with “our” Alan. Beautiful wines, we will now appreciate much more how much hard labour goes into wine making, especially the sparkling variety. Thank you to Danny & Great British Wine Tours for a fantastic day, will definitely be recommending you.

      Fabulous day out
Fantastic day out with Danny who took us to two different vineyards where we learnt about the wine making process and were talked through tastings of still and sparkling wines. Lunch was at High Weald dairy, a delicious cheese and charcuterie board followed by a tour and explanation of the cheese making process. Everyone we met was informative and passionate about their craft, Can thoroughly recommend this day out but it would also make a fabulous gift for friends or family.

      Fabulous day out.
We had a really great day visiting first Court Garden vineyard, where we were given a talk about growing and making wine. Then enjoyed wine tasting and a lovely lunch before setting off on the vintage bus for Bluebell vineyard. Where we enjoyed more wine tastings. Everyone that joined me to celebrate my birthday said how much they had enjoyed the day.

Sussex vineyard and cheese maker tour - excellent day
We spent a fantastic day in the company of around 12 other people, drinking English sparkling wine and eating locally produced cheese. Our hosts at each venue were wonderful, knowledgable and welcoming. We learned lots, enjoyed excellent food and drink and good conversation. All in all, a great way to spend the day.

      Fantastic Day Out
A great way to see 2 vineyards in Sussex. First vineyard was Awesome and tended to spoil us for the second visit. I would strongly recommend this tour if you want something to do on a Saturday.

      Time to reminisce.
A lovely evening trip on a steam train on a return trip from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead . This included a fish and chip supper. The operation was very slick and the food piping hot delivered to our carriage compartment. The meal was tasty and followed by dessert with tea or coffee. A very enjoyable time to reminisce as you delight in the sounds of the steam loco making its way through the scenic countryside.

Ridge view wine estate was fantastic, the tour was comprehensive and professionally delivered, great care and attention was paid to customer service, would highly recommend going there independently. The coach trip and the visit to Albourne estate was disappointing, due to weather concerns the hamper was changed to a buffet at a local pub. It was laughable and after being ushered through we we left hungry and more than a little cross. A half glass of wine was all that was offered and as much water as you could drink? At nearly £100 per head we expected more. We were then taken to Albourne house where our bombastic host with limited knowledge proceeded to publicly berate me for taking 2 taster drinks instead of 1. I explained that I only drank sparkling wine and that I would not be having the other 2 taster tipples on offer, bearing in mind when they say taster tour they mean a couple of mouthfuls of maximum 3 wines. Red faced I replaced the second drink. When I spoke to the tour guide to ask why the customer service was so below par he apologised and said he didn’t see it that way. I was genuinely taken aback as were my party. So unfortunately we won’t be recommending this tour company. Save your money and go to ridge view estate independently, They are a professional outfit and you will be look after well.

Dear Collette, at Great British Wine Tours we pride ourselves on excellent customer service so we are sorry to hear that you felt your experience on the Sussex Vineyard and Winery Tour was disappointing. Whilst we endeavour to offer the hamper as described, on this occasion we decided to offer a buffet at our local pub as the weather was forecast particularly bad on that day. As this tour was very soon after COVID restrictions had been lifted, we had to usher groups in one at a time to the buffet so guests would feel comfortable. At no point would we want anyone to feel that they had been publicly berated and we will ensure that in future all hosts make it clear what is available to guests at each tasting. We are delighted to hear that Ridgeview was a success.

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this trip, the bus, our guide Danny and the beautiful locations but I'm afraid my friend and I were disappointed about the actual wine tasting itself and the food.
Court Garden was excellent, very interesting and whilst we were not huge fans of the style of wine we did enjoy it. We were slightly disappointed in the amount provided, it felt a little parsimonious given the cost.
Unfortunately this did not improve at Albourne. The wine was even smaller in quantity and we only received 2 "glasses" of actual wine in the traditional sense and then there was a splash of Vermouth, an acquired taste and then a cocktail, containing this Vermouth, that was quite frankly unpleasant.
As to the picnic lunch, the meat was lovely, but not overly generous between 2 and the cheese was a bit odd, it was 3 types "welded" together in one large wedge. the bread was lovely and fresh and warm and the chutney was interesting but not a great accompaniment for the meats. In short a tad underwhelming.
Did we enjoy the day, yes, did we think it was good value for money, no I'm afraid not.

They don’t deserve 1 star but can’t give zero. I booked this tour for a friend’s birthday in August and a few days before the tour I was informed that the tour was cancelled. I was asked if I wanted a refund or alternative date. I asked for a refund. Since my request I have received no refund and despite emailing and leaving a message on the answerphone I have not heard anything. The company owes me £218 which I paid over 2 months ago. I have been ignored and ripped off - and to make it worse they cancelled it not me and ruined my birthday present for my friend.

Dear Ruth, I believe you are a customer we have been in contact with previously. We have not received replies from you despite several attempts to do so. We did attempt to book you onto several different dates which were unsuitable for you and therefore refunded your tickets as per your request. We haven't had a reply from you since then. Please get in touch and we can send confirmation of your refund to you. Kind regards, Calum

Really disappointed in this. Date of booking had to be changed with no explanation. The itinerary stated Pub Lunch (we had bit of meat and cheese in a basket). It stated visit to 2 vineyards - Court Gardens Farm and Bluebell Vineyard Estates. Court Gardens was very good and the guide was very knowledgeable. The second stop was actually at Albourne Estate and was terrible - we had to use the same plastic cup for all the tastings and when I say all we only tasted 2 wines (1 sparkling and 1 still) - we were then given Vermouth and Negroni instead of wine. I got the impression the guide on the bus was obviously friends with the team at this estate. Spent a lot of time hanging around and was quite boring.

If you have been to wine tastings before, as we have, I would avoid this trip.

This was an excellent day out in spite of the inclement weather. Danny and the team made things work so we only got as damp when it was unavoidable. The tour at Hidden Spring and Beacon Down were fascinating. Though not as well equipped for tourists as the big champagne houses, the end product of these English wine makers is comparable if not better than the best of the champenois. Lunch was unfussy and hit the spot. Highly recommended.

A group of 10 of us did the Sussex wine tour yesterday for our friend's 30th birthday. We all had a great time and enjoyed everything from the more educational side of the tour to the wine tasting itself. Lunch at the Royal Oak was both a delicious and very welcome stop-off to enjoy some pints. Even though our group of 10 guys might've resembled more of a stag do, everyone involved in the tour was very accommodating and happy to have us.

Our guide Alan was fantastic from start to finish, providing great and amusing company, as well as being generally helpful, knowledgeable and patient. The same goes for tour guide at Court Garden Vineyard.

Big thanks from Hughie and the gang!

I was super disappointed to hear that my parents weren’t able to go on the vintage red bus tour that I had booked for their anniversary. They arrived and found themselves faced with a mini bus with no warning that they won’t be experiencing the full red bus experience. However, although the weather wasn’t amazing, they had a lovely time and would recommend the tour. In future if I was to book this tour again I would appreciate some warning about any part of the tour that isn’t happening so I could maybe rebook for another time when the full experience is going ahead.

We really appreciate you taking the time to write a review and delighted to hear that you parents enjoyed their day with us. We are really sorry that the Routemaster bus wasn't available on this occasion but due to staffing issues we were unable to use it. (the Routemaster requires a driver and conductor!). We only found out the day before that our Routemaster was unavailable so had to quickly make other arrangements. We take on board your comments about pre-warning guests if the bus becomes unavailable and will look to notify guests of any changes on the tour. We are always looking at ways to improve our tours and customer experience so really appreciate your constructive comments . - we look forward to hopefully seeing you or / and your parents on another tour soon :)

We went on this trip on the 29th May and found it to be very proffessionally run, very informative, very interesting and quite simply a great day out. The team that looked after us were very welcoming and friendly from the moment that we arrived until the moment we left. The two vineyard tours were very interesting and very informative and were conducted by people that were very passionate about their wine and wine making. The bus added a bit of fun to the day and bought back memories for us!!!
All in all a great day out and well worth the money. We would recommend to anyone interested in wine or anyone that would just like a great day out.

Had a wonderful day on the bus tour of two local wineries all helped by the beautiful sunny weather. Court Garden, a lovely family run estate, where we walked into the vineyard & received a very informative explanation of the growing & harvesting as well as the different varietals they produce. We then headed back to the winery for another informative overview of the production process by the very humorous Hugo! Next was the tastings which included 4 different sparkling wines & then a picnic lunch & more wine. The second winery was the Albourne Estate where we had another informative talk by the lovely Monica before viewing the winery & then tasting their sparkling wine & vermouth. We then had time to visit the tasting room, perfectly positioned overlooking the Sussex Downs, with the chance to purchase wines to drink there & takeaway. A great day was had by all & we would highly recommend it.

This trip is brilliant. Danny is a excellent host and easy to chat to. We visited 2 vineyards that were off the beaten track. Both tours were interesting, had lots of detail and provided an overview of wine making in an interactive way. I really liked how we learnt about the process in a scientific way at Covent Garden and then saw the machines in the process at Hidden Springs. The host at Hidden Springs also has a fascinating view of the history of Champagne. As with anything, the characters you meet so make this experience.

I also enjoyed the charcuterie lunch. Everything was sourced within a few miles and I would seek out the chutney and biscuits again. It all turned up in a lovely wooden crate with picnic rugs an option. The rose wine with it was delicious. The best touch was the bread was still warm as it had only been delivered by the bakery an hour before we ate.

Lastly, the bus provides a special vantage point to view the beautiful countryside as you travel between vineyards. How the bus driver navigated some of thd twists and turns...I do not know!

We are now looking to organise a customised trip with Danny. Nothing seems to be too much trouble!
