      Brilliant day out
Take your time, enjoy the history and back stories. Great day out. We did the Leeds one first and the pub at the end was still part of the adventure. We were a little disappointed with the pub in Manchester as it did not have the same part in the story but still a great day.

      Fantastic ‘walking’ escape room
Had this bought for me as a birthday gift as I LOVE an escape room, and did this with my mum and 1yr old. It was a fantastic extra add on to a day out in Nottingham, with fun clues that were a bit challenging but not impossible, a good balance for a family group. The route was thankfully pram/pushchair friendly with the exception of the last stop perhaps, but overall suitable for the whole family. We even ran into another couple doing the same thing on our route around! Will definitely be buying another for another city. Please add Lincoln and Durham to your repertoire!

A challenge to begin with but 'got there'
Did the tour together with my husband, daughter and ten year old grandson. We spread it over two days and stayed overnight at the Travelodge and used the park and ride on the second day as it we found it cheaper than using car parks and drop off points were more convenient. We found the first clue the hardest and were grateful for the 'brain' of my daughter to get us started but after that we were ok.

      Great Fun in Winchester!
Really good fun. Nice mix of true history and made up story.. The clues were quite easy to find....have done other harder ones but all in all it was a very enjoyable and informative meander around a beautiful city.

      Fantastic!
We had previously done the York guide which was fab so we bought Manchester. We found it a bit harder than York but really good fun. We enjoy them so much that we have ordered both the London guides and are going to do those this weekend! We absolutely love doing these, thank you!

      Fascinating read fun for all
A great way to kill a couple of hours whilst staying in Oxford Note to the wise we did it at night and some of the clues were hard to see, and one clue was closed to the public(fortunately we had visited earlier in the day) Wish we had known about these books before

Great fun with friends and to learn more about a place
We did the Winchester Mystery Guide at the weekend for a friend's birthday. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend. The clues are fun and just the right level of challenge. We'd met in Winchester many times before and there were so many new things we discovered about the city that we've never known about before. I'd definitely see if there is a Mystery Guide available for another city I am visiting in the future - a fun way to explore a place! While we were there we bumped into a couple who were doing the same hunt as us, which was a funny coincidence!

      Sheffield, the golden flamingo club
Enjoyed seeing bits of our city we had never noticed before. Shame the old church was closed but went to the old shoe instead.

A great mystery, lots of fun
back on the walks again...mystery number six in Southsea. It was very easy to find the start, as always the clues were easy to follow, although one or two seemed well hidden, ( either look up or down!!!). we enjoyed solving all of it and ended up at the Phoenix Pub. we were by now quite tired and worked out it would take us another 35 minutes to get back to Portsmouth Harbour station. So we walked back along Duncan Road, turned left and got the number 2 bus (Gunwharf Keys) to take us back to the station. on the way back to the station we realised we were passing Southsea Station so we got off there and caught the train home from there. We think keep all the clues , but maybe re gig the route so you are not so far away from the beginning if this place is unfamiliar to you? but otherwise, still a very good experience and lots of new things learned!! Chester, next , soon.........!!!! :)

Another great adventure. Really enjoyed it yet again. This is our 3rd one now and got 3 more to complete over the next few months. A really great way to spend a few hours finding out about different places

      Liverpool’s lost lyrics
We had a great time admiring the delights of Liverpool while finding the solutions to the clues. A great day out despite the rain. We were also treated to an impromptu lecture on the history of Mathew Street by a local!

      Chester, the mystery
Fabulous day out. We saw parts of Chester we haven’t seen before so it took us a lot longer to complete than had been anticipated. The clues were challenging and we were impressed by the mind that devised them! A thoroughly enjoyable day.

Although my hubby and I live in Portsmouth we learnt such a lot from this adventure. Easy to follow directions, some clues certainly got you thinking and loved all the factual information. This guide was given to us as a gift and we would highly recommend it. We already have the Bath guide to do at a later date.

Such a fun, interesting and unique experience to get to know Portsmouth history and main figures at your own pace! Very well combined with pub stops, we were a group of 4 and started at 11 am and finished at 1.30 for lunch. Jack from Mystery Guides was really helpful with booking and info - he recommended that we book a place for lunch beforehand. I really don’t think we would have appreciated the beauty of Old Portsmouth if we had chosen to just walk around. And everything is near enough to walk! Would definitely recommend!

My husband and I loved following and solving the clues on a wintery walk around a city we thought we knew! Doing the hunt during Covid just meant that the pubs were closed but this did not lessen the enjoyment of our walk with a difference. Looking forward to the Southsea one due out later this year hopefully, definitely another stocking filler. Highly recommended :)

A colleague gifted me the Mystery Guide Portsmouth for Christmas in 2021. My partner Justin and I decided to complete it between Christmas and New Year and we’ve never had so much fun. The tour takes you around all the little gems of hidden Portsmouth. It was a windy wet day but that didn’t stop us having the best time. Several drinks and a little bite to eat on route definitely helped. Certain clues wowed me, I won’t give anything away as I wouldn’t want to spoil it for anyone but I highly recommend this for a day out, couples or kids, there is definitely something for everyone and it doesn’t have to involve copious amounts of alcohol like we consumed and enjoyed. You won’t regret buying this guide and we intend to do many more of them. As I write this review 6 months after the event, we actually completed the Winchester one yesterday which I will review separately. 5* FUN ♥️ Cheryl and Justin

This is the second Mystery Guide we’ve done (first was Edinburgh) and it was another fun and interesting way to explore a city. We took our time and visited various sites and pubs along the route, spending more than 5 hours wandering Old Portsmouth and learning about its fascinating history. These guides take you to hidden gems you would probably never find otherwise, which is what we really enjoy about them. The only negative feedback is that we found many of the clues too easy - the Edinburgh clues were more challenging - and some could have been solved without having to visit the location in the guide. We still thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we’re planning to do a third guide soon. Definitely recommend.

this was such great fun for a family group of mixed ages (and abilities!). Plenty of interesting facts to absorb and interesting pubs to visit. Have now done three of these walks in different cities and would thoroughly recommend and you learn so much about the history and culture of an area.

We enjoyed the journey around the Old part of the city, we had one clue we had to revisit, we knew we hadn't got it quite right! But as usual the history was interesting and the puzzle gave us a focus for a city explore. For the first time ever we bumped into two other parties that were also doing this puzzle, Mondays in Portsmouth are buzzing! We spent a happy 3 hours soaking up the atmosphere while completing the challenges.

My husband and I spent a fun day with my daughter and her boyfriend discovering old Portsmouth. Even the dreary weather and a soaking by the sea waves didn't dampen our spirits. We visited three of the pubs and took advantage of the discount. Our day ended with a beautiful sunset. An amazing and affordable way to spend 7 hours. We are hooked.

My wife and I have lived in and around Portsmouth for 50+ years and thought we knew a lot of the history. This little book has opened up so much more in an area of the city that we know and love. Looking forward to doing more Mystery Guides if they are anything like this one. Brilliant job, gave us a very enjoyable few hours.

What a truly fabulous few hours we have just spent getting to know Portsmouth and all the places you wouldn’t normally find. This little book makes you look up, down and sideways, always ensuring there’s a pleasant pit stop for refreshments along the way with a very nice taste of history thrown in. Would fully recommend this for a fun few hours!
