A walk around the sights of Winchester including a whistle stop walk through the Christmas Market.
Really glad that we did this Christmas Walk. The group size was small and perfect. Our guide was really informative and fun! The mulled wine/ hot chocolate, a lovely touch on a chilly evening. We learnt a lot about the history of Winchester. Throughly recommend this evening walk. 👍

Fun and fascinating! A must for any history buff
Very fun and informative! Bryan is a wonderful tour guide full of knowledge and banter. Did this tour with my fiancée while we had a day in Southampton and it was a great way to see the city and learn fascinating history not just about the Titanic, but also of the port and area. Time and distance were nice - not too long to eat up most of your day but still fulfilling and worthwhile. Grabbed a pint at a pub at the end that had a neat story tied to the Titanic. We really enjoyed the experience.

Excellent tour of the Secrets of Titanic
Bryan was an excellent guide on this great walking tour. The tour is 2 hours and weaves through the historic area of South Hampton. At each secret site, Bryan provided interesting stories and information. It was a wonderful way to spend a few hours prior to our transatlantic cruise. The pace was good and the terrain was walker friendly for those with mobility issues.

Great tour, light hearted and fun browsing some of Southampton's history. We will be back!
An amazing tour of the history of the titanic in Southampton. Good fun, light hearted, comedy and puns. It even kept the kids engaged. Would definitely book again and look at the other local area tours too.

    History brought to life
A fabulous morning, finding the secrets of the titanic, also the rich history of the port of Southampton, Bryan really brought the history, to life, telling us about the lives of some of those on board the 'unsinkable' vessel. We all enjoyed it, made international friends and very happy dog 🐕 who enjoyed his walk.

Quick overview of the history of the Titanic and very reasonably priced!
Interesting tidbits of the story of the titanic. A little difficult to get to the meeting place from the cruise port. Guide was great. Quite an actor and comedian. Good paced but really wish we had a paper map of South Hampton as we had no idea where to meet the shuttle to return to the ship and had to end up taking a taxi which was 10 pounds Map given to us on the ship app was for London only

Absolutely loved our walking tour with Brian. And he should really have cancelled as only myself and my wife were booked in but were so grateful that Brian showed us around despite this.
The city is very beautiful and Brian added greatly to this with his very engaging and informative narrative.
We absolutely 100% recommend this walk with Brian…..

The tour was extremely interesting and entertaining. We learnt a great deal about the history of Winchester and Bryan was very knowledgeable and amusing ( although beware of his rendition of "Winchester Cathedral"!).
I would definitely recommend this tour if you are in Winchester for a short time as you quickly become orientated to the city and understand where you might like to return to.

Myself and my Girlfriend enjoyed a 2 hour Winchester walking tour with Bryan. For a city with such a plethora of history and influence from All sorts of historic figures Bryan kept it interesting, fact filled and light hearted. His deep knowledge and passion of all things History, historical politics and literature is very obvious and Bryan brings that very much to life. Would highly recommend any of his Tours and pub recommendations.

In my opinion, Bryan is a very poor guide. I offered him to chat to hear my feedback, and he was not interested. I am a teacher of adult education, so do know what I am talking about.
We paid for a two hour tour, and it finished after an hour and a half with no explanation. It was very rushed. He spoke too quickly, without allowing for his foreign accent, nor that one of us did not have English as a first language. He walked quickly, despite us all being senior citizens, one with a physical disability, and on occasion he started talking before some of us had caught up, so could not hear. He peppered his talks with jokes at very high speed. (He wants to be a stand up comedian, but this was not the place to practice. There was no eye contact, and not once did he ask if we had any questions. I felt he was talking from a script, keen to finish and go, and not really interested in whether we had absorbed and understood his comments.
We have been on many guided walks and this was by far the least effective guide.

Thanks for the detailed review. It is disappointing this was your experience. Firstly, with regards to the duration, as described, it is approximate; this is to ensure the Tour always finishes on schedule. In some instances with smaller groups or in severe adverse weather (as was the case on this occasion) it may be slightly less than two hours. As for your other comments, feedback is encouraged during the walk, and greatly appreciated afterwards. It is unfortunate that was not the impression. If you wish to discuss further please email info@walshtours.com Wishing you a most wonderful Easter Bank Holiday.

I took several Walking Tours while in England - this was by far the best! Bryan was extremely knowledgable concerning the history of Winchester and just fun. He filled the entire two hours and suggested we see the Great Hall and Winchester Cathedral (he even sang for us, haha!).

I would suggest bringing a water bottle and a raincoat; I needed both!

This was an exceptional tour! Bryan was a great guide and so well informed on the history of the town and the people who played such an important role, going back centuries. He picked the right sites. His skill in presenting along with good natured humor kept us engaged throughout. We highly recommend this tour.

My mom and I went on the tour with Bryan on September 16. This was our first time in Winchester, and to be honest, our first historical look at any place in the UK as we're new to the country. It was AMAZING! Bryan is incredibly knowledgeable, charming, and hilarious. We were on tour with three others from different countries, and Bryan skillfully fostered group cohesion, so throughout the tour, it felt like we were in our little bubble on a quest to uncover historical gems (which we did). Without launching into prose, before this tour, I had no clue how important the city of Winchester was in English history. I learned through this tour that Winchester was pretty much second to London. Sign up, and Bryan will explain how and why this is true. The tour was well-paced and packed with information without being overwhelming.
We look forward to doing the Southampton one with him in the near future. We 100% recommend signing up for a historical tour with Bryan. :)

This tour was a most engaging, informative, and thoroughly entertaining experience. Bryan wears his deep subject knowledge lightly, and manages to make every moment zing along. Unlike some considerably more irksome parallel experiences (in other cities, which will remain nameless), the time whizzed by and left us both wanting more. Bryan really brings his subjects alive, reciting Keats from the bank of a rapidly-flowing river, and occasionally bursting in to song. His hilarious repartee and wit are well-balanced with the subject matter of the tour, so one never feels that he is entertaining us at the expense of the history. Rather, he brings the history to life, and subtly points out parallels to our own times...I can highly recommend this tour of Winchester, and it really adds new depth and meaning to this very attractive part of England.

We had a great couple of hours with our guide Brian. There were only three of us on the tour so it felt very personal, but I am sure that the tour would be just as good with more. Brian had a script of course, to make sure that he covered all that he had to say, but the whole thing was delivered in a very personable and personalised way. I feel sure that his depth of knowledge was far greater than our questions, and that his interest in his subject was genuine and personal. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to orientate themselves to the wonderful city of Winchester.
