- chriscZ9078BP00Great Tour - RecommendStephen was great. His knowledge of London is 11 out of 10 and he is very friendly. We’re big Dickens fans, but this tour is for fans of all interest levels. Also, he was very generous with his time, making several diversions from the route to see things we asked about and even taking us to a few new locations he had discovered a day or two earlier. That kind of attention makes the higher price of this tour worth it. We definitely plan on checking back in with Stephen when we’re back in London for one of his other tours.
- baltasar201700Ye Olde England Tours Delivers! This was a great tour and Stephen was a supremely knowledgeable and erudite guide! I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to ramble about London with Stephen as he pointed out the many historical features of the areas we saw. I had inquired about a tour focused on Charles Dickens and A Christmas Carol and got a whole lot more than that! The ultimate highlight was our ending place - the George & Vulture Chop House (Pub). What a thrill that was!! The current owners were very friendly and it was a thrill to relax at the end of the tour and share a pint of ale. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it!!
- Lilly B00Great Tour!We loved our Garden Tour with Stephen…he was so informative and helpful! We would recommend him 100%..we are looking forward to returning to London and we will definitely be doing one of his other tours he offers. Thank you so much Steven!!!
- 237daciak00Better than Bath - Excellent Tour! The Roman London Walking Tour is a must do! It is better than Bath and more than just a Roman tour - it is a London history tour. Kevin was an outstanding tour guide...knowledgeable, patient, and a true London historian. Unfortunately we did this tour late in our visit rather than early in our visit because we would have gone on more tours he was leading. If Kevin is the guide, it is sure to be an excellent tour!
- nautinittany00Places only seen on this tour.Kevin was our tour guide. He did a fantastic job. His knowledge and enthusiasm were infectious. I learned things I wasn’t aware of before this tour. I would highly recommend this tour and especially Kevin. We had access to places and areas that you can’t get on bigger tours. We went in to the cigar shop that Churchill went and had a chair where he smoked his cigars and drank some scotch. Where his suits were made.
- vicwatson1900Kevin was the best! Our tour guide, Kevin, was wonderful at answering questions and keeping things interesting for two history buffs in our group, as well as making things fun and light with pop culture references for the third (non-history buff) person in our group. He clearly had experience showing people around and was able to get us into some small shops to see some very unique things up close and personal (for example, the exact spot in which he stood for being measured for custom clothing). We saw some iconic shopping areas that were frequented and his favorite cigar bar and smoking chair. Kevin even met us at our hotel and gave us tips on how to use the tube. This tour was eye catching and memorable, and Kevin was the cherry on top. Admittedly, the non-history buff in the group is who is writing this review. I wasn't sure it'd be may favorite of our two-week trip around Europe, but it sure was the winner. Book this tour! Our group decided we'd like to do the underground city tour next time around.
- rista202200A great experience!Kevin was a fabulous tour guide! Not only did he show us Charles Dickens sites, he shared so much London/British history! He was so kind and enjoyable for my husband and I to spend a morning with!
- Baby B00LovelyLovely place to visit with young uns and good price.Lots of nice goodies to buy in shop and what not.
- 20jeffreyg00Great Tour!Kevin was a great tour guide. We lived in London for several years but learned many new things about the city during our tpur and saw several places we had not seen before!
- O3525WClaurab00Fantastic Tour of Roman LondonThis tour was honestly the highlight of our entire trip to London. Kevin was a wonderful guide -- amusing, knowledgeable, and friendly. We saw Roman London as few tourists ever do -- hidden away in basements, garages, parks. For us, it was so much better than the crowded tours of palaces and churches -- and took us far back in time to the founding of this amazing city.
- stephola1800Best Thing in London!Book this tour! Or any tour from this company! Stephen is one of the kindest, most genuine, and knowledgeable person you will ever meet. If you are looking for tour to see more of a London than just the big touristy highlights, this tour is for you. See things like alley ways where gravestones were built into the building! The oldest church in London and its Roman ruins crypt! Lovely gardens! And so much more. I guarantee this will be the highlight of your time in London.
- deanot201700nice dayvery nice place to visit, much better than the one in raf Cosford. Shame some of the interactions was not working that why a 4 star but the aircraft on show was amazing, the best part for me was viewing the ww1 planes and seeing the sacrifice of the pilots, flying the planes of that age and seeing the jump from wood biplanes to the reapers
- tamchr00The best ambassador England ever hadWhat more can we say but WOW!!! Kevin is the best. He knows everything about everything. He knows more than your teacher and can present it better. He knows things even Londoners don't know like where Lawrence of Arabia lived. Highly recommend this man in tweed!
- Melinda B00Incredible knowledge and wealth of information that only comes from a deep love of history and connection with the area.I had the honour of Stephen being my tour guide for the City of London Tour today. With the City of London being only approximately one square mile I was astounded at the absolute wealth of knowledge and in depth information Stephen had about the area. Stephen had multiple facts and interesting information for every single street we walked down. Not only did Stephen impart factual information based on the history, geography and political situation of the area, he also was a wealth of information on quirky social and cultural history. Stephen is extremely personable and intuitive so he was quick to pick up my individual interests and likes and was able to adapt the tour to add on specific items of interest to me. I wouldn’t even bother contacting other tour operators and would absolutely 100% recommend Ye Olde England Tours as Stephen’s tours are extremely sincere, knowledgeable and individualised.
- kathleencA4619UU00Best tour I have ever taken!!We absolutely loved our tour! Kevin was a fantastic tour guide who not only walked us through the life of Princess Di, he customized the tour to match our interests. We learned a great deal and really enjoyed our time with Kevin. He has a passion for history and that passion came through during our tour. The next time I do a personal tour in London, I will be reaching out to Kevin. My husband and I had a great time.

Our guide, Kevin, was well informed and entertaining so it was a pleasure to spend the day with him . We live near St Albans, VT so this tour was a must in our travel plans. We were in awe to be standing in Roman ruins, evidence of the forward thinking of Roman engineers (for example, we don't have radiant flooring though some of our neighbors do). Kevin brought to life the wonder of a farmer plowing his field and finding a Roman ampitheater. That doesn't happen here! There is a wonderful medieval church (we couldn't get enough of the churches),and other high points of the local history he didn't want us to miss.He also recommended lunch in an amazing waffle restaurant. Sadly we did not have enough time to tour the Roman museum - that would have required an overnight , or second trip. well worth the expense of the private tour.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed your trip to St. Albans with Ye Olde England Tours. It is such an incredible place and yet comparatively few people visit it as the big coach companies don't go there. There is so much to see with the Roman sights, the churches and magnificent Abbey and just the general vibe of the old streets, markets and pubs. You're always welcome to return one day and I'm sure Kevin would be delighted to pick-up right where you left off. Thanks for such a nice review.
