Overview

Experience the rugged beauty of England’s Lake District on 6.5-hour day trip from Windermere. Aboard a comfortable coach, you’ll wind through the picturesque hills, visit charming English villages and take in the majesty of 10 idyllic lakes including Lake Windermere, Rydal Water, Grasmere, Thirlmere and Derwent Water. Spend a day surrounded by unspoiled nature!

What to Expect

Meet your coach for morning pickup at Windermere Tourist Information Center. Once aboard, sit back and relax as you journey through Lake District National Park. Marvel at the majestic landscape, home of England’s tallest peak and deepest lake. The area’s preserved natural beauty makes it a favorite location for peace-seeking city dwellers and outdoors enthusiasts!

Cruise along the shores of Lake Windermere and stop into the lovely town of Ambleside, where you’ll have time to explore the town’s charming bookshops, gift shops, cafes and pubs. Then continue north to Rydal Water for some magnificent vista shots, and Grasmere Village, where charming limestone cottages tuck into verdant hills.

Next, visit the region’s northern lakes including Thirlmere – Cumbria’s main reservoir – Bassenthwaite Lake and Crummock Water. Wind through the rocky Honister Pass to the quaint Buttermere Village and then on to the Cumbrian capital of Keswick. Here, you’ll have some time to independently explore the bustling town and enjoy a relaxing lunch (own expense).

The final leg of your trip stops at Castlerigg Stone Circle, one of the region’s great prehistoric monuments. Walk through the mysterious site and enjoy stunning views of Skiddaw, Blencathra and Lonscale Fell, then relax as you head back into Windermere, passing Ullswater and Brothers Water en route.

You’ll arrive back at the departure point in the afternoon.
