          Excellent tour of the Lakes!
Highly recommend this tour! I mistakenly booked us on this thinking it was a boat tour...ha...but the most pleasant surprise of our trip! Tim was our driver and guide (I was glad to not have to drive for a change) and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. He was well versed in the history and sights. The best part was seeing a small stone circle up close and the views were spectacular at almost every turn. Must do!

          A day with Wordsworth
Gillian and Tim were fantastic! They were both incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. Gillian made sure that we saw everything possible. We ended the tour at Rydal Mount- my absolute favorite!! We will cherish the time spent exploring Wordsworth’s world.❤️

The art of Brontës doth come to life on this tour
‘Twas a day steeped in the legacy of the most illustrious literary family of England. We didst traverse the oppressive realms of industrial society, fraught with class divisions—the squalor, the inequity, and the harsh realities for women artistes. Yet, this hardship hath found a counterbalance in the elemental expanse of the moors, where the muse of art may unfurl her wings in unbounded liberty. The fervent affection the Brontë sisters hath shared doth their narratives illuminate, and their indomitable spirit shall a testament be to the triumph of art over the adversities that doth beset their existence. Our guides, the amiable Sandra and the erudite Gillian, hath given us a truly memorable experience, their captivating tales leaving an indelible mark upon our imaginations. We shall eagerly anticipate a return to display our dancing prowess in a Kate Bush dance upon the moors; we doth express our sincere gratitude for this day!

          Wonderful Winderemere
We had a wonderful experience with Tim. We were a family of 4 joined by an American couple. It was a nice enjoyable trip getting to know the lake district of England and experience the difference in landscape from Scotland. Tim was very knowledgeable and provided very detailed descriptions.

Best Way to See the Lake District!
This was the perfect way to see the Lakes District! We loved being picked up and returned to our hotel on Lake Windermere. Gillian and Sandra were our talented, engaging guide and driver (respectively). Gillian was knowledgeable, entertaining and shared amazing information and stories about the area and local legends. Sandra was an incredible driver, especially on narrow roads on a rainy day. They gave us plenty of time for taking pictures and rest stops. We would do this tour again in a heartbeat. We highly recommend it!

Magic in the Lake District with Beatrix Pitter.
A truly magical tour which brings Beatrix Pottet to life. Tim is an excellent guide. He is incredibly knowledgeable. His showing us Potter's watercolors in her books was a stunning addition. He showed us the inspiration of each painting with the real life scene. The half day went by way too fast. I could have spent a whole day on this tour.

          Perfect Day!
What a tremendous day! We love ACGAS and dreamed of seeing the places it’s been filmed. We saw Pumphrey Manor; the crossroads where James first arrived and meets Helen; the church where Helen calls it off with Hugh; the bridge where James and Hugh struggle to decide who will back up and let the other through; the main town used for Darrowby (including the front Skeldale house, the Drovers Arms, the green grocers); the village green where James meets the bus when his parents arrive for the wedding;the Falcon Inn, where his parents stay; the back of Skeldale house; the exterior and interior of the churches used for James and Helen’s wedding; and the Alderson’s farm; and had a delightful lunch at the pub used for one of the interiors of the Drovers Arms. It was truly a delightful way to see the Yorkshire Dales come alive through and outside of the lens of the show! Our guide, Tim, was excellent! He has really taken the time to study up on the show and the real-life James Herriot (Alf White), enjoys the show as much as his guests, and was just a delight to spend the day with asking about the Dales then and now. The pace was leisurely and he let us take as many pictures was we wanted and explore as long as we wanted (obviously keeping us to the schedule). At each stop, he also shows us scene where the location was used, indicating directions and things to notice about the scene and the reality. He also spent time tell on us about the history or other unique characteristics of the places we visited. It was just the best day! We loved it and would recommend the tour to anyone who is a fan of the show or just wants to see the Dales in a unique way.

Magical tour not to be missed!
My wife and I along with a friend joined another couple on this tour with guide Tim. Absolutely superb. Tim is beyond knowkedese---witty, clever, full of stories and anecdotes. Visited every possible filming site from All Creatures Great and Small. Lunch was excellent at Craven Arms ("Darrowby"). From Alderson farm to the church where James and Helen married to Skeldale House. The entire day was magical. The Yorkshire Dales are magnificent. Tim was the perfect guide. Out of five stars, I give Tim and this tour EIGHT!

We had a terrific day out with Tim as our guide. We already admired Beatrix Potter, but our understanding and appreciation of her deepened with Tim’s help. Our travel route seemed designed to reveal awe-inspiring landscapes around every bend. Tim was an extremely congenial companion. The breadth and depth of his knowledge meant we ended the day not only with a better understanding of Beatrix Potter, but of Cumbria and England. The tour is definitely a highlight of our time in the Lakes.

Such a packed and full day tour with amazing views and places to visit. Sandra our driver and Gillian our guide were so knowledgeable of the area and with a wealth of information. Gillian's passion for Beatrix Potter showed in her excellent delivery and enthusiasm of her knowledge.
Timings were perfect and we had enough time for toilet breaks, photo opportunities , gifts and lunch.
A definite must and I would use this company again,

It sounds like you had a great morning on our Beatrix Potter Tour with Sandra and Gill, they are both really fun and passionate about what they do. Beatrix Potter was an amazing woman and it is always a pleasure to show people where she lived and bring her tales to life at the locations which inspired them. Thank you for spending the day with us and we are delighted that you enjoyed the tour.

What a fantastic tour. We love Beatrix Potter and it was so lovely to see so many great places. Tim, our guide, was brilliant. So fun and lovely to chat to. He was incredibly knowledgeable and loved the enthusiasm. He taught us so much and we now know all the other things that made Beatrix so great apart from the books . Lots of stops and plenty of time at each. Never felt rushed. The views we saw and photo opportunities we had too were great. Also so nice that Tim refers to books and knows where pictures are..makes it more real. Loved we learnt about Wordsworth a bit too. Never done a tour before but definitely going to do another next time we are here in the Lakes. A big mention also has to go to Tim's excellent driving. No idea how he managed it all! A brilliant day and lovely having a small group- only us and one other couple. Thank you Tim,,you were fab and English Lake Tours. You will see us again!

On the Beatrix Potter we were the only two who signed up for today. This was like having our personal tour because we could add small changes to the regular tour route.
Tim was a great driver/guide. His knowledge of the history of the area made the tour come alive.
I was talked into the tour by my wife but I am grateful..it was a great experience.

We were met at the Windermere train station precisely on time. Appropriate well-maintained van. Our driver/guide was Tim who did an exceptional job -- most knowledgeable, fun to be with. Good driver. Tour sequenced well and was run at a relaxed pace. Obviously, he enjoyed the subject and we had a running commentary that was informative and answered our many questions. The two of us plus two others made for a good group. We all ended the day not only enjoying the area but had a much greater understanding of Beatrix Potter and her many contributions to children's literature as well as the Lake District.

We love to show our guests that there is so much more to Beatrix Potter than simply her "little books". Our guides spend a lot of time researching the people and places that we visit and this enables them to have answers to the many, varied questions that they get asked!

This review is long over due because I went on Tim and Gillian's tour back in April at the beginning of the season. And because it was so early, I was the only one who had booked the tour for that day, but they were so generous and took just me! Bright and early they picked me up at my hotel and the three of us started chatting right away. (By the end of the day they were like ole friends). If you love Beatrix Potter and the Lake region please book Tim and Jillian's tour. They have a wealth of knowledge of the region and Miss Potter. Jillian took me to the very spots where Beatrix had painted so many of the illustrations for her Peter Rabbit books. Jillian had all of the little books with her so when we walked to different spots she'd pull the right book out and show me the picture of what we were looking at in real life. The three of us had a lovely lunch together in one of the little villages, had plenty of time to shop, go to Miss Potter's house and garden and to her museum where her original art is kept. Then Tim drove us all through the lake region, and they were so patient when I wanted to stop to take photo's. I will always remember the perfect day I spent in Lake Windermere and how fun and knowledgeable they are.

It always amazes visitors when they see the pictures in the "little books" are actually painted from life and these places really exist. We always love to visit the locations and show our visitors Beatrix's paintings in her books to compare them with. Beatrix's life story is a fascinating one and surprises people when they discover that she is so much more than an author of children's books.
