- Shelley S0 contributionsBreathtaking experienceOur guide, Tim, was very informative and engaging in conversation. We saw breathtaking locations. We would recommend this tour and our guide, Tim!Written 11 March 2025
- M3197ANleep0 contributionsFascinating Beatrix Potter tourSuperb tour. Amazing number of Beatrix Potter related sites, locations, buildings. Tim was a wonderful source of information. One of the best tours in our long and varied international travel experiencesWritten 2 March 2025
- Chrissie9720020 contributionsAbsolutely perfectWe went on the Beatrix Potter half day morning tour. When we arrived at the pick up location, we found that we were the only people on the tour - probably because it was out of season and just after half term. Tim was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. At no point did we feel rushed and we were very happy with the tour. We also had great help from Phil prior to booking the tour as we had a couple of queries. When we're next in the area we will definitely be looking at some of the other tours they offer as we had a great experience with this tourWritten 26 February 2025
- madodanan0 contributions8 lakes half day TourVery beautiful views and the amazing history behind each scene as per our tour guide Tim. Made our day very special. I would highly recommend!!Written 25 February 2025
- V1371FPfrancesm0 contributionsWet Lakes TourWe were so lucky to be the only people on the trip. The weather was awful - rain and wind. However this did not stop us having a great tour. The driver Tim was fantastic, so knowledgeable, friendly and such a safe driver. I would recommend this trip to everyoneWritten 22 February 2025
- citygirl202020190 contributionsGreat activity for a rainy day to see hidden gemsWonderfully knowledgeable and friendly guide. Courteous and relaxed. Lovely group size to explore on a rainy day. Got to see hidden gems and beautiful views of the lakes.Written 22 February 2025
- Jason2688340 contributionsAbsolutely fantasticAbsolutely fantastic. We really couldn't have enjoyed it more. Tim, our brilliant guide, was constantly entertaining. His local knowledge of everything — history, geology, mythology, food, architecture, farming, politics, culture (including Wordsworth, Coleridge, Robert Southey, All Creatures Great And Small, Donald Campbell and Bluebird, Hardwicke Rawnsley, The Manchester Corporation and, of course, Beatrix Potter, who is *so much more* than we thought she was) — plus sheep (there's a lot to learn) — was AMAZING. There wasn't a single question he couldn't answer. We saw the eight lakes, plus towns, villages, viewpoints, waterfalls, corpse roads, Wordsworth’s grave, Castlerigg Stone Circle, the smallest house in the Lake District and the best smelling shop IN THE WORLD. 10/10. Would recommend to everyone, all day long. Wonderful.Written 21 February 2025
- johnmN2426LL0 contributionsFantastic Lakes TourA really good trip despite poor weather. Our driver Tim was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and also gave us a lot of history of the region.Written 21 February 2025

Tim our guide was so knowledgeable and more importantly, passionate about his job/tours. We learnt so much from him and can’t wait to do it again in the near future. Don’t hesitate.. just book it you won’t regret.Written 18 February 2025
- Tezzybear0 contributionsWinter WonderlandWhile the Lakes are wonderful to visit in summer, the crisp winter air and falling snow gave the region additional beauty and majesty. Tim was a fantastic guide, adapting the tour based on the weather, and providing fascinating insights on any and all topics. This is a must do activity when in the region. Can't wait to go back and explore the rest soon.Written 13 January 2025

- CarmenH5120 contributionsExcellent tour of the Lakes!Highly recommend this tour! I mistakenly booked us on this thinking it was a boat tour...ha...but the most pleasant surprise of our trip! Tim was our driver and guide (I was glad to not have to drive for a change) and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. He was well versed in the history and sights. The best part was seeing a small stone circle up close and the views were spectacular at almost every turn. Must do!Written 11 November 2024
- ljmelin0 contributionsA day with WordsworthGillian and Tim were fantastic! They were both incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. Gillian made sure that we saw everything possible. We ended the tour at Rydal Mount- my absolute favorite!! We will cherish the time spent exploring Wordsworth’s world.❤️Written 2 November 2024

What a tremendous day! We love ACGAS and dreamed of seeing the places it’s been filmed. We saw Pumphrey Manor; the crossroads where James first arrived and meets Helen; the church where Helen calls it off with Hugh; the bridge where James and Hugh struggle to decide who will back up and let the other through; the main town used for Darrowby (including the front Skeldale house, the Drovers Arms, the green grocers); the village green where James meets the bus when his parents arrive for the wedding;the Falcon Inn, where his parents stay; the back of Skeldale house; the exterior and interior of the churches used for James and Helen’s wedding; and the Alderson’s farm; and had a delightful lunch at the pub used for one of the interiors of the Drovers Arms.
It was truly a delightful way to see the Yorkshire Dales come alive through and outside of the lens of the show!
Our guide, Tim, was excellent! He has really taken the time to study up on the show and the real-life James Herriot (Alf White), enjoys the show as much as his guests, and was just a delight to spend the day with asking about the Dales then and now. The pace was leisurely and he let us take as many pictures was we wanted and explore as long as we wanted (obviously keeping us to the schedule). At each stop, he also shows us scene where the location was used, indicating directions and things to notice about the scene and the reality. He also spent time tell on us about the history or other unique characteristics of the places we visited.
It was just the best day! We loved it and would recommend the tour to anyone who is a fan of the show or just wants to see the Dales in a unique way.

In early May 2024, through English Lakes Tours my wife and I had a full day tour of the Yorkshire Dales with Gill our guide and Tim the guide/driver. The focus was, of course, the backdrops for the TV series “All creatures Great and Small.” It was an amazing day. Each stop Tim would bring up a video clip from the show to refresh our memory and give us context to the place we stopped. This format enhanced the experience when “walking the ground”. Both guides were highly knowledgeable on the history and geography of the Dales in general, and about all things ACGAS. We highly recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful day on the tour with our very knowledgeable and informative guide, John. The weather couldn't have been better and while we didn't get time to explore Bolton Castle while there we did get to enjoy a wild bird (owls/falcon) experience all with the beautiful Yorkshire Dales countryside as a backdrop. Would have loved more time in Grassington but did enjoy a pint at the Drovers' Pub (ummm Devonshire) and enjoy walking around the centre of town. Would highly recommend.

Our daytrip into the Yorkshire Dales was beyond all expectations. Our driver/guide John S was not only knowledgeable, but also a save driver. We heard and saw a lot about the tv series. Not only that, also about other films. He couldn’t have done me a greater pleasure by taking us to Bolton- and Middleham castle where we could soak up some of the UK’s interesting history. I highly recommend this tour.

What a gorgeous place Yorkshire is! We spent a fabulous day touring parts of the Yorkshire Dales which we recognised from the tv series. Tim and gill were wonderful hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed the conversation and information on the van. Darrowby was amazing and the bookshop was a gem. Sadly we missed filming by a couple of days but there were still some props about. This is a must for anyone who enjoyed the tv show and want to see where it was filmed as well as stunning scenery. We loved it.

Just beautiful scenery in the Yorkshire Dales. Visited all the important sites featured in the television series. Our driver had a laptop and played scenes from the TV series before we visited the sites where they were filmed. Our guide asked us if we could identify the sites before our arrival and this proved to be a very friendly competition.
Pub scenes were filmed in part at the Craven Arms where we had lunch.
