About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- GrandTour470731344940 contributionsFun sailing tripWe were met by Ian at the pontoon, the boat was prepared and ready to go. We set off and Ian explained the workings of the sailing boat. He then dropped sail and let us take the wheel, it was great fun. My girlfriend and I took it in turn to steer. Until it started raining, my girlfriend took cover in the cabin whilst Ian and I sailed around the lake. Sadly the rain became torrential so we had to head back to shore. Even with the weather not so good we would high recommend using Ian and take a trip on the lake again with him. It was an unforgettable experience.Written 14 October 2024
- 877eugenea0 contributionsGreat tour, great day. We'll definitely do similar again.Ian, our guide for this fantastic tour of the Lake District by Lake Windermere. Our family had a great day visiting the Stock Ghyll waterfall and then saw the highest points of the area. We went to the slate mine and entered the huge cave with a fantastic view. We had a drink and cake at Chesters Bakery & Shop. We visited the site of the highest pub, being renovated yet. We drove through the river after the slate mine. A fantastic tour. Ian is a very nice man and a superb guide.Written 24 September 2024
- bbmf40 contributionsOutstanding guide! Informative, flexible and a great driverI spent a full day with Ian visiting multiple locations in the Lake District. Ian tailored the tour to my particular wishes. In my case, I was interested in walking at every stop we made and Ian was pleased to accommodate this request. The trip included walks that were a bit off the beaten track. Ian is very friendly with a wonderful personality and knows the Lake District exceptionally well. He is also a cautious driver. Time flew by. This was truly an exceptional way to see a big chunk of the Lake District both by car and by foot.Written 22 September 2024

- michaelhC5369ND0 contributionsSSSHHHH the best kept secrete on Lake Windermere.Have you every been sailing before? No, never, was our reply. Were we in for a treat! Ian our skipper was the gent helping both of us into our PFDs and aboard the boat. With the brief of " I would like to sit back and watch the world go by" ( Sylvia ) and " I would like to do as much as i can" ( Michael) we set off. Ian showed us how the sails were set and explained how to steer, what more do you need to know, ( well loads more but that's a different experience). Through Ian's patient guidance and encouragement, we sailed north up to Ambleside and around an island and back to where we started. The peace and tranquility of sailing has to be experienced to be believed. If you are looking for the bare bones, no frills, you and nature working together, sailing experience this is the trip for you. We both totally enjoyed our sailing experience, sylvia because it was a relaxing pleasurable trip and me because it gave me the thrill of feeling the boat come alive under my hands. We were that wrapped up in our day that we both forgot to use the camera even when we were "Buzzed " by several low level passes of Typhoons and Lightings from the Royal Air Force. Before we knew it our time was up. Many thanks to Ian for a wonderful day and an even greater insight into the world of sailingWritten 15 September 2024
- genjens0 contributionsA memorable few hours spent on Lake Windermere! What a lovely, different few hours spent on Lake Windermere! We received great instructions before our time slot and both of us thoroughly enjoyed learning a few sailing basics. We were lucky enough to have some good wind so it made the memory even more special. Thank you Ian for a fab few hours. Highly recommend!Written 14 September 2024

Ian was a great person to spend time with - good fun, friendly, flexible, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. - soulf1080 contributionsWindermere Sailing ExperienceThis was a such a great experience. We’d never been sailing before but both of us are keen to learn. Ian met us on the Jetty and helped us on board. Once we got out on the Lake he gave us some directions on how to manoeuvre the tiller and how to spot wind direction and angle the sail. I was amazed at how thrilling and fast it felt even with gentle winds. I would recommend this to anyone who’s spending time in the lakes. We are looking forward to going again.Written 10 July 2024
