About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- _cplamont1210 contributionsExcellent day outWas bought as part of a gift experience, but can be purchased as a stand alone cruise. Hop on hop off at various points along the Thames, I think 5 in total. Staff were excellent and offered a free and impromptu tour guide to add to the history and stories of what you can see along the route. The ticket last 24 hours, so ideal for using as we went down river on Saturday afternoon and back up river on Sunday morning. Be warned though, the prices at the bar are shockingly high, and I mean high. I’m sure you can go without a snack or a drink for a short time.Written 9 September 2024
- I8856IAliamc0 contributionsNice tour and different way to see LondonLovely views of the Thames river and the city of London the sites that we saw along the way were well explained and interesting stories told by the guide. Are one issue was nobody informed us of the correct return time back from Greenwich so we missed the boat? We had asked two different individuals that was the big downside of the tour.Written 9 September 2024
- SophieVa-PaulRe0 contributionsUnfortunately does not meet expectations of such a high price range. My wife and I got lost in the pricing schemes for our reservation on this cruise, and we admit that our initial complaint to the onboard personnel was not founded. On the other hand, the pricing schemes can be somewhat confusing, ending that you think you are going to get one thing, and you get another. Regardless of the previous, overall, the meal was “OK”, but certainly not in line with the high price range we paid. Champagne was excellent. All this said however, the DEAL BREAKER for us was the fogging up of all the dining room windows (SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOS). Within minutes of our departure there was condensation buildup on the panes inside the dining room and literally we could not see nothing outside… which is the first “raison d’être” of this cruise… especially during the meal. This was NOT an external or weather issue, but simply bad ventilation. The personnel did their best to wipe up windows a few times, but everything would fog back up again. So based on the high price of this event, a confusing pricing scheme, and the impossibility of seeing through the windows while dining, we can NOT recommend.Written 9 September 2024
- arturbbb0 contributionsDylan is worth listening to :DHighly recommended! Nice and very friendly staff. Plus the Afternoon Tea set - not to be outdone. After eating and drinking be sure to go to the upper deck where Dylan and his knowledge of history to go with his comments will crack you up! :D :D :DWritten 8 September 2024
- Martin L0 contributionsNice tour. Do not buy individual tickets for the terms of Cruz and the bus because it combined one is cheaper. The nicest part of the boat tour was the human commentary by the captains. The bus to has a recorded commentary that worked about 80% of the time. The other 20% the bus had been rerouted because of construction or traffic. Overall set to factory, but not stunning valueWritten 7 September 2024
- rosemaryl8440 contributionsA lovely day on the river, even our 4-year old was totally engaged from Westminster to Greenwich and back.A great way to experience London and have the various landmarks pointed out with relevant information. We enjoyed the waterman's humor as he gave us his commentary. Grandparents, parents and grandchildren all had a great day out.Written 5 September 2024
- mikedY8893VH0 contributionsSight seeing from the River ThamesI took some clients on the Thames cruise from Tower to Westminster. I'm a London tour guide and love to take my tour guests on a City Cruise as part of their visit to London. They can see fantastic sights from the river they would otherwise miss, and the crew commentary is always entertaining.Written 5 September 2024

- Janet05050 contributionsFind a River Cruise only-insteadThe bread was dry, the filling lacked flavor, the sweets were too sweet and the scone wasn't warm. The tea was mid, at best and when my husband got a refill, they just poured some mildly hot water over the same tea bag. Service wasn’t very warm or engaging but wanted tips at the end. If you want a proper tea experience , I would not recommend this. It’s a tourist trap with a high price to match. Just do a basic river cruise for a lower price and have a fancy high tea on land, instead. As for the cruise itself, it was nice to see the popular landmarks from that vantage point, so that was fun, and Dylan’s commentary toward the end was cheeky and fun.Written 2 September 2024

There's an audio guide in multiple languages but if you understand English the live tour guide who gives commentary as you pass landmarks was fantastic every time. - chryssem20220 contributionsThe narration and views are the highlights of this cruise, but the poor service was disappointing.**Review for the Tea on the Thames River Cruise: 3-Star** The best aspects of this cruise are undoubtedly the commentary provided during the last 10 minutes of the journey, which is engaging and informative, as well as the fantastic photo opportunities. REGARDLESS of where you sat. I opted for the “VIP fast track option and Premier seating,” but truthfully, with the zoom feature on my iPhone 15, I could have captured the same-quality photos from any seat on board. *****Unfortunately, the service did not meet my expectations. After taking our champagne order, our server disappeared for the entire 90-minute cruise, only reappearing at the end to present us with a bill for £18 for two glasses of champagne. Ten minutes into the cruise, I accidentally spilled my glass of champagne, which knocked over the other glass; if we had not managed to wrangle a passing server, we would have had to manage the spill, wet table, and wet seat on our own! While that server provided additional napkins, I recognized a missed opportunity for better customer service when another passenger pointed out that the server should have replaced the champagne, too! The sandwich selection was entirely forgettable, but the real star of the afternoon tea was the scones, served with strawberry jam and clotted cream. ***** Service in the "VIP area" was lacking during the cruise. You will receive the same level of service in the main cabin as you would by paying extra for the VIP Premier seating area. In summary, the narration and views are the highlights of this cruise, but the poor service was disappointing.Written 30 August 2024
- stevehU5772QN0 contributionsExcellent experience can recommend it.Got to say this was a great experience from start to finish. The booking was very easy and communication was good. Upon turning up at the pier we were quickly boarded the boat from very friendly staff. The first course of the meal was quickly served, and all courses were very well cooked and tasty with sufficient size portions too. We were surprised by the excellent value of the on board drinks (only downside was they stopped serving too early when the was still around 4t minutes to go). All the staff were friendly and attentive. The singer was particularly good (sorry I did not get catch her name) and the boat was warm and good ambience. All three of us had a really good evening and can recommend the dinner cruise.Written 26 August 2024

I was very disappointed by this river cruise. The boat itself was fine. However, the entire purpose of the outing for us was to see the major sites of London from a different vantage point, just like the event description promised. Instead, the tour started late and headed along the river away from Parliament, Big Ben, etc., etc., to cruise past utterly nondescript neighborhoods on both river banks. I assumed that we would turn around and hit the highlights on the return when the novelty of being on the boat and having an initial drink had worn off and people were ready to enjoy the sites. That was not the case. On top of the poor itinerary, the food ("canapes" in the description) were paltry and of low quality and the free drink was a watered down Aperol Spritz. Prices at the bar were high, and the food available for purchase was of the snack bar variety. The "jazz" was a lone singer singing to a pre-recorded track, but to her credit, she performed very well. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. The highlight of the evening was the high school student group celebrating the end of term and getting up to dance en masse creating a festive mood. Perhaps our particular cruise had a truncated route for some reason, but if your goal is to see the sights and have a curated evening out, this cruise is not the way to do it.

Hello mdh98368,
Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that it didn't meet your expectations. Our normal route on the evening cruise is to depart from Tower Pier and make way up river towards Westminster. Sometimes due to tide we are unable to reach Westminster.
We appreciate your feedback and we will look into ways to improve our experience and let our guests know reasons why we can't fulfil our standard routes.
Kind regards

We took a trip up the Thames with City Cruises on Sunday 2nd Feb.
It was a cold night and only a handful of us on the boat but nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed it.
There was a singer on board, which to be honest I rather dreaded as if they're bad it can ruin the trip. But the guy, (Dan I think) was brilliant.
Although a cold night It was the most chilled out I've felt in a while sailing up the Thames listening to this talented guy singing.
We didn't eat the canapes as we'd eaten shortly before boarding.
The only negative is I thought we'd have sailed past the Houses of Parliament and we didn't, I'd have like to have seen them from the boat at night time and we expected we would be going that far so was a little disappointed when the boat turned round.
But It was a good trip and I enjoyed it more than I expected to.
And big up for Dan the singer, should have tried for xfactor!

Would rate 0 if I could as we never actually got to experience the evening cruise because the company wouldn’t accept a voucher purchased through Wowcher. Despite their being availability on their website for full price tickets, they told us the dates we had selected were sold out for voucher holders. Poor customer service, very unwilling to help. Would be cautious of purchasing a ticket via Wowcher as there is no way to check ‘voucher availability’ before purchasing and company are unwilling to accommodate.

My friend & I attended this cruise on Sunday evening. We actually weren't sure what to expect, but were so impressed and absolutely adored the experience. We initially thought it would be open top, so we were worried about not having the appropriate outerwear and being cold, however the boat was completely covered and heated, it was so cosy. The cruise was comfortable, festive & the vibes were great. There is also plenty of window seats for all guests, meaning nobody is sat in a bad spot. We were greeted with a free prosecco and there was also food being passed around. The only thing I would say is that people started helping themselves to the platters of food on display, which I found a little bit unhygienic, and noticed someone's hair floating about on top of the food. I know it might mean more effort for the staff, but I think the food should be passed around instead of a free for all, to avoid eating food that others have touched. There is a bar on board and the bar staff were a delight. Bottle of prosecco £28 but I will let that go due to the setting you drink it in! The live music was amazing, Ashling (I believe that was her name) was a beautiful singer & sang a range of old classics, to Christmas music & made the trip. Honestly, I would totally recommend this, for £33 you really get your moneys worth. I have lived in London before & have family here, so I visit regularly, however this is something completely different and I would recommend this to anyone & everyone! Thank you :)

This would have been a great evening if not for the large group of drunk American college kids screaming and hollering and dancing about. Also didn’t help that one local felt like he was at Woodstock and had to dance about like a fool.
Maybe less alcohol or maybe employees should ask guests to be respectful of others.
Also - note that this is a cruise intended to relax and see the sites. There isn’t any information provided about your surroundings.
Lastly - it stops and turns around before you reach parliament.

Hello SS1971,
Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback about your Evening Cruise and sorry we didn't meet your expectations this time.
Firstly we apologise on behalf of the guests who may have been too loud and we will look into this as we want all our guests to have fun and enjoy their cruise. In regards to the commentary, we state on our website the Evening Cruise doesn't have live or recorded commentary, and the cruise is more a chilled trip with live music and more to set the scene for the rest of your evening.
The reason we don't go further up the Thames is because of high tides our boats cannot go underneath some of the bridges, but we feel the section of the cruise we do travel has the most iconic sights that London has on offer!
Many thanks

Me and my partner did this evening cruise for my early birthday trip to London. It was absolutely amazing. The views are great, you get a drink of Prosecco on arrival and lots of nibbles as you go along. There was a live singer and the trip was around 2 hours long in total. I would highly recommend this river cruise to anyone who is debating booking. You will not regret it.

I book this for my anniversary with my partner. ( his fluent free) When booking I make sure was gluten free option and they confirm to me. When arrived I make sure was some gluten free option and this was not they also say to me they not doing gluten free option from more then 5 years. Not sure why they ask the allergy as food was not provided. They say music all the time and this was not just 2 song at the start and 2 song at the end. Prosecco was no a real prosecco but was more a cava and a chip one.
During the night when already home I been sick 4 time this was 100% food been provide. Super bad experience will never never come back

The signage was poor before embarking. The crew were very good. The singer was excellent, unfortunately there was a very boisterous group and they disrupted her set. We went up to the top deck to escape them. The views from the boat were fantastic though.. the canapés were OK but the drinks they served were not to my taste at all.

I said above so I could see everything more clearly. I think everybody enjoyed all the different tea sandwiches that we had on this cruise. Downstairs. They had a DJ singing in a lot of people liked him but what I heard I didn't really care for. There was not much history to see on this cruise, but I'm still glad I did it

This was a good cruise. We sat on the top floor because it was a clear warm evening. It was fun seeing everything lit up. We were very impressed with the champagne to start, followed up by some tasty and fancy snacks/h'ordeurves. Staff was very friendly. The only thing we did not like was that there was no commentary and we had expected commentary to tell us what we were seeing.

I have this cruise booked for the 19th of September. There is conflict as to where to board this cruise. Part of the information states that it begins at Westminster Pier. The itinerary states it begins at London Tower Pier. Which is correct?

Merci

Can I and my daughter be put on a Wait List for The Thames Evening River Cruise on the evening of June 7, leaving at 6:30 PM.

I'm not sure you could make a provisional booking or be put on a waiting list without paying up front in full. Having done a quick check on the citycruises web-site, spaces are available on the evening cruise on 7th June and you could firm up your booking now. Alternatively, there's a contact section on the web-site. I'm sure you'll find them helpful. Enjoy the trip.
