Stop your research now and book this tour. Going with a small group is hands down the way to do this trip. A larger bus like Evan Evans cannot go to the same places, and you waste so much less time waiting for people or waiting for everyone to board/disembark the bus. We were in a very comfortable van with huge windows. Our tour guide Johnny was AMAZING--he absolutely helped make the trip what is was.

A word to the wise: do not book with Evan Evans tours. They do not guarantee their trips will run, and in fact, they canceled on us. On the other hand, The English Bus guarantees that if you book, the tour will go. Obviously, this makes a huge difference when you're in a foreign country, often without good internet to make alternative plans. And it happened to us. The English Bus trip was perfect. The itinerary was smart in that not too much was included, so we actually had time to see the places we went extensively. The secret place was incredible! Trust me, this was not some gimmick or a roadside attraction. It was a full stop that was perhaps the highlight of the tour. And honestly, after planning our 12 day trip in great detail, it was nice to be surprised for a small piece of it. Other trips that have 4 or more stops do not give you enough time to see everything. This trip is perfectly structured. If you are only budgeting one day to get outside of London on your trip, this is absolutely the tour to do it with. And you will be supporting a great small business that was hard hit during the pandemic. So book this tour, feel great about it, and be ready for an experience that will exceed your expectations.

Hi Daniel, A very belated thanks for your wonderful review - we are delighted you enjoyed the tour with Johny so much - and I'm sorry you had a negative experience with a different company. As a small business we really value each and every customer - we know your time is extremely important. Thanks again for travelling with us - we'd love to welcome you back one day on one of our other tours. All the best, Chris The English Bus

Our guide, Andy, did a wonderful job of both driving and giving us a guided tour from London to Stonehenge and on to Bath. He was cheerful and knowledgable about both the English culture and history. The timing of our arrival at Stonehenge allowed us to see it before the larger motor coaches arrived which was nice. Our 16-passenger mini-coach was comfortable and the smaller group size made it a more personal journey. We stopped at the Secret Destination later in the day and it was definitely worth the stop. I would highly recommend everything about this tour and our driver.

Hi Gregg, Thanks for your review - wonderful to hear that you had such a great time on tour with us with our own walking encyclopaedia Andy. Thank you very much for choosing to travel with us - after almost 2 years of covid enforced closure we are absolutely delighted to be meeting so many guests again. All the best, Chris The English Bus

Had the pleasure of taking the Stonehenge, Bath, and Secret Place Tour with Johny Davies. Would highly recommend a small group tour like this over one of the larger companies (made the regrettable decision of booking a tour with one of them as well). First, the bus itself is very comfortable. Since they do not pack as many stops as the tours that also stop at Windsor Castle, you get a more thorough visit that is longer and you don’t feel rushed. Although going to all these places is amazing in its own right - the history, architecture, beautiful countryside, etc., Johny really brought the whole experience together. He’s an incredibly funny (your was like a comedy show) and knowledgeable guide who really went out of his way to ensure that we all had an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend the English Bus company and would definitely suggest booking a tour with Johny, you won’t regret it!

Hello Stutee, Thank you very much for your review. Wonderful to hear you enjoyed your time on tour with Johny so much, and great to hear you appreciated the small size of the group - as you discovered it makes a huge amount of difference. Despite many requests, as you mention we don't try and cram Windsor into this tour - it would make each stop so rushed it would ruin the tour and your enjoyment of the sights. Thanks again for joining us - we'd love to welcome you back one day. All the best, Chris The English Bus

Our guided trip to Stonehenge, Bath, and a secret place was fantastic. On a previous trip to the UK, we booked a tour of London with a different small company. We thought they were pretty good, but the English Bus are simply playing in a different league altogether.

The first thing that jumps out at you is how nice and comfortable the bus is itself. This isn't a repurposed public transit bus or school bus. The seats are fully adjustable and even after being on the bus for several hours I never had any aches and pains. There is individual climate control for each seat and the bus has great panoramic windows. The sound system on the bus also ensures that you can actually hear what the guide was saying.

The star of the day was our tour guide Andy. I was impressed immediately when he gave us facts about and descriptions of the different roads, buildings, and boroughs that we passed on our way out of the city. He was very personable and funny and engaged with all of us guests on a personal level.

As the day went on Andy continued to impress us with his knowledge of the history of England and how that related to what we were visiting. I feel like I actually learned something today, which I honestly wasn't expecting.

At the end of the night Andy made sure that all the guests were dropped off at places convenient to getting home. I can't imaging any other company ever taking that kind of care and attention to its customers. It was truly exceptional.

Beyond the tour itself, I want to say that the English Bus has been a joy to work with. Our trip with them was originally scheduled for May of 2020. Obviously, the pandemic interfered with that, but Chris and Jen at the English Bus worked with me to reschedule with no problem. Not just once but several times. Our trip went from May 2020 to October 2020 to May 2021 and finally to October 2021. Every single time I dealt with rescheduling they were understanding and worked with me. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate that. It certainly wasn't true of other companies that I dealt with during the pandemic.

This is a great company that offers a great service. Small, personable guided tours of the English countryside that you just couldn't get with anyone else. I highly recommend booking with them.

Hi Matt, Thank you so much for your wonderful review - after the last 18 months the travel and tourism industry has been through it makes a huge difference to us reading, again, how much our guests have been enjoying our small group tours. Andy is a fantastic guide who we have had the pleasure of working with for many years now and he certainly delivers an amazing unforgettable tour experience. To hear that you consider us to be playing in a "different league altogether" is superb, and makes us very proud of the job we do and the hard work we put in to get there. Delighted that you liked our tour vehicle - we have them specially built from new for us and we specify all the interior ourselves to maximise guest comfort. It was heart-breaking to see them sat there during the covid lockdowns but it is very exciting to be back on the road now - we love what we do and I think that shows in the services that we deliver. Also very happy to have been flexible with your arrangements. We understand that the pandemic has ruined so many people's travel plans so we are only too happy to help guests rearrange however many times they need. Thanks again for your kind words - we hope that you enjoy the rest of your time in London and we hope to see you again one day on one of our other tours. All the best, Chris & all of us at The English Bus

Dear Andy and the English Bus crew,

this is not a review for other guests but a big, heartfelt thank you note to you. We loved our week in London but our day with you, visiting Stonehenge and Bath was our favourite day of all. Your bus is clean and super comfy, the sights are of course beautiful but it is you Andy who made the long trip worthwhile. You are knowledgeable, charming, really funny,  tireless with your storytelling and never boring. You guys are top notch and you can be really proud of the work you do. We don't know how many people understand how difficult the past two years have been for our industry (yes, we are in the same boat) so to see someone continue to work with such enthusiasm is inspiring and just fantastic. We wish you guys a great year ahead and to keep doing what you are doing so well.

Thank you and best regards from Croatia!

Ivana, Mladen, David and Toni

p.s. to all the fellow travellers...yes the tour is long but it is never boring. And yes, it is more expensive than the big bus tours but it is a whole different thing and absolutely worth it. If you are thinking about it this would not be part of the London trip where I would try to save some pounds.

Hello Ivana, Mladen, David and Toni Thank you so much indeed for your "thank you note". It is amazing to hear how much you enjoyed your tour to Stonehenge and Bath with Andy - who I have spoken to and is very very pleased you feel it was your favourite day in London! He said you were wonderful guests and he loved spending the day with you. Andy is a superb guide who we have worked very closely with over the last 6 years. That you appreciate the issues we have had over the last few years means a lot. It has been a torrid time for all in the tourism industry but we love what we do and are so thrilled to be doing it again - guided tours are our calling and I think we all feel that this is the best professional fit for all of us - we don't want to do anything else if we don't have to! Andy took up driving ambulances during the covid lockdowns - but I know he is so happy to be back guiding tours again. To hear you are fellow tourism professionals is great - we wish you all the best in the post covid recovery period. It is extremely challenging dealing with the "new normal." We wish all of you the very best and would love to meet you again one day! All the best, Chris & all of us at The English Bus P.s. thanks again! And to all other travellers if you only do it once, do it properly with people who care and treat you as individuals rather than numbers. We are only as good as our last tour and we can never forget that.

My wife and I have only the highest ratings for our trip March 2, 2020, with the English Bus small group tour. Our guide Johny was a literal encyclopedia of information on everything from English history to the origins of Stonehenge to recent cultural events of the area. On top of the tremendous width and depth of his knowledge, his delivery was entertaining-indeed humorous. The English bus is a very comfortable Sprinter Van with all the comforts one could want while enjoying a small group relaxed atmosphere—as opposed to moving around in a large herd. Unlike many tours, the English Bus company allows food and beverages onboard so guests can snack while seeing the sights. There were several opportunities to get out and walk if we liked and also to spend time away from the group if we wanted to do something a bit different than others in the group. If we are ever here again, we will definitely book another tour with the English Bus. Steven and Virginia Amstrup

Our driver Colin picked us up at 8:45am, and then the following 12.5hours he looked after us extremely well. I personally appreciate his cheerful manners and his sense of humour, and his jokes made the long road trip much less boring. I like the way he put a small list next to him to check on the names of each customer and he tried his best to engage with each of us. He even played music in the bus which were all related to the site that we visited, the effort was greatly appreciated by all of us.
The drive was very comfortable, the timing was managed really well, we had enough time to spend at each stop. Highly recommended.

Hello! Thank you so much for your review - we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your tour with Colin so much, and I'll make sure to pass this onto him - he works tirelessly to make his tours and his guests as happy as they could possibly be, as a small family run business it is very important to us that all our guests have the best experience possible. We want to provide the most personable experience we can, and only catering for small groups allows this. Thank you so much for joining us on a tour - we'd love to meet you again one day. Andy was a fantastic guide and the tour was the perfect mix of information, sightseeing, conversation, and being left on our own to explore. At a full 12 hour day with 3 stops and such a great guide it was well worth the price of admission. Andy almost never stopped telling us about England from the main attractions, to POIs we’re passing, to just explaining weird traffic signs. I don’t know how he keeps it up and keeps it interesting for a full day. The highest recommendation.

Hello! Thank you very much for your glowing review - wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your tour with the dashing and charming Andy so much. There is so much to talk about, we like to joke that we could do the 200+ mile tour route at walking speed and still have things to talk about that we can't squeeze in! Thank you very much for choosing to travel with us - we appreciate each and every guest. Best wishes, Jen & all of us at The English Bus

Andrew was an excellent driver and tour guide and he made us feel included when he did ice-breakers on the bus. He was knowledgeable and funny and helped us appreciate the different aspects of the tour to Stonehenge, Bath and the Secret Place. We loved that he shared stories, even personal ones, that made the time spent meaningful. It wasn't "just a tour" with a recording to listen to. The next time we make a trip to England, I'm going to check out other tours by The English Bus.
I hope despite the present global situation with the pandemic, you guys will stay strong, healthy and be able to ride the rough waves until better times. Thank you and God bless!

Hello! Thank you very much for your kind review - we are delighted that you enjoyed your tour with Andrew so much. As our groups are all small, we prioritise making everyone feel included - our tours are very much interactive and involving and we want to create an atmosphere that makes people feel like they are on a day out with old friends - rather than new friends and acquaintances! The global situation has got significantly worse since you wrote this sadly - but to those reading we will ride this our, however long it takes, and we will be back to deliver amazing and memorable tours again as soon as we can. Thanks again and best wishes to you and your family, Jen

We just got back from our tour with guide Colin to Stonehenge, Bath, and a Secret Place. We picked The English Bus because we wanted a smaller, more intimate tour and we’d read so many rave reviews. I am so glad we made this decision. We had an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! Colin was nice, shared great info throughout the trip, and really made it twice the fun. The bus (Arthur) was very comfortable for the long day we had. Colin was happy to help snap a photo at each stop for us, and took everyone on a little walking tour in Bath with extra info and recommendations of what to see. The sights themselves are great of course, and you have plenty of time to explore each stop before moving on. Plenty of bathroom and snack stop opportunities as well. Won’t spoil the secret place, but for me it was absolutely wonderful and such fun to cap off the day with. This full day tour was the highlight of our trip to London so far. Would absolutely do another tour with them and would encourage others to book with them! 10 stars all around!!
