- Nomad7301170 contributionsThanks for the memoriesMy husband and I thoroughly enjoyed two tours with the amazing Lucy and Nohl . Fantastic guides with great knowledge and humour made the long days fun and enjoyable despite the terrible weather . Our first days in London could not have been better ! Highly recommend The English Bus Company for a great day trip!Written 26 February 2025
- gihansas0 contributionsCotswolds, Stratford and Oxford tourWe had Cara as a tour guide and she was absolutely lovely. She knew so much about the history of the places that we went to and personalised the experience for all of us. Doing a tour in a small group was so lovely as we were able to get to know the other tour guests and we were able to take our time and enjoy the tour. Cara took great care of all of us and her bubbly personality was a big reason why we all enjoyed this tour so much. We would definitely book with this tour company again in the future.Written 27 January 2025
- Parker E0 contributionsBook with the English Bus!We booked this tour looking for something more than we would find on a standard tour bus… and we got it! Taking a smaller van allowed us to see so much more than we would have in a larger tour bus. By far the highlight of our vacation. Andy was a terrific guide who was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. All of the stops were enjoyable and we had plenty of time at each one to see/do everything we wanted. We will be sure to book with the English Bus again on our next trip!Written 20 January 2025
- mylawyer20180 contributionsGreat trip, best guide everThis was a good tour of several beautiful and historic locations that we have always wanted to see. Candidly though, Cara, our tour guide, was the star of this show. Her genuine and deep love of both her job and history made this one of our most enjoyable day trips. Her walking tour of Oxford was really fun. I realize you can’t control who guides your tour, but I would still ask for Cara. Thanks girl, you were a blast!Written 15 January 2025
- shadowinthedarkness0 contributionsThe Winter Solstice at StonehengeI took the English Bus Tour from London to Stonehenge for the Winter Solstice. Because it was about a two-hour drive, pickup times were early. About halfway through the trip, we made a short stop along the highway for refreshments. Cara and Jon, our guides, were enthusiastic and good-natured and enjoyed their jobs. They had background knowledge of various places along the way, including much of the architectural history in London, and they fielded some off-beat questions. We arrived in plenty of time to “get to the stones’ before sunrise, with some history of the area provided along the way. Flashlights were provided when we arrived. Snacks and bottled water, and another coffee stop on the return trip were provided. Well worth the experience.Written 3 January 2025
- Jaxlady10 contributionsWonderfully fun and informativeLilly was our tour guide for a family trip of 10 to the Cotswalds and Bath. She was absolutely wonderful! Her sing song voice and quick wit made the trip even more enjoyable! She was full of fun and lots of knowledge about London and of course the Cotswolds and Bath! I highly recommend her and the English Bus company for a wonderfully fun and informative time! Also, the bus, Winston, was very spacious and well equipped.Written 2 January 2025
- N8896EJlouisr0 contributionsHappy English Bus TourFUN, Fantastic, and an all-around great small group tour. When I initially booked this tour, there was a mix-up with the dates, but after contacting this agency, they were wicked nice and accommodating adjusting the tour to the correct date. Not a lot of other tour agencies would adapt. I am glad they did because our tour guide (Cara Withers) made everyone feel like family when we met up with them. She was very knowledgeable, and cheerful, and never made us feel rushed. We did the Canterbury, Dover Castle, White Cliffs, and Villages tours. With each stop, we had multiple options, the tour guide ensured all questions/concerns were addressed before getting off the bus. The bus was nice, cozy, and not claustrophobic like a big tour bus. I love the fact that the "tiny bus" could go places that a tour bus would not be able to go. I believe you will not go wrong booking with this group. I am SOOOO HAPPY I found them. Thank you The English Bus tour group :)Written 3 November 2024
- pdaacac0 contributionsGreat tour of Stonehenge, Bath and Castle Combe. My wife, son and I traveled with Jon (guide) to Stonehenge, Bath and Castle Combe in the Cotswolds. We had a great day. The bus tour was a perfect size, comfortable and clean. Jon gave interesting and humorous commentary along the drive to each location. We had time to explore on our own, have a snack at Stonehenge and lunch in Bath. Jon provided bottled water on the bus. The English Bus customer service folks were great. They responded to emails very quickly and accommodated a change to our booking to include our son who was visiting us from Amsterdam. We highly recommend this tour company, small yet efficient, engaging commentary without being overly chatty. A great value.Written 31 October 2024

We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Stonehenge and Bath with the English Bus. Our guide, Jon, was entertaining and informative. He struck a good balance between telling us about our destinations and England generally and allowing for quiet time during the drive. There was adequate time to explore Stonehenge and the museum cafe is actually quite good, which made for an easy lunch. It would take a couple days to explore Bath fully, but Jon did a good job of giving us as much time as possible within the limitations of a day trip. The final stop at the secret place was a great way to end the trip. If you're in London for a few days and want to see something outside the city, we would highly recommend this tour.

For me as a single traveler without a car, the tour in a minibus with a small manageable tour group was the ideal way to visit Stonehenge and Bath. Of course, you have to accept time restrictions because the journey from London is quite long and therefore the length of stay in Stonehenge and Bath must be limited. Had I been free in the time division, I would have liked to have had longer time for the sights there in both places. However, I am also someone who likes to stay very long in museums and listen to all the stations of an audio guide. For the normal interested party, the viewing time should be sufficient. The “secret place” is pretty and nice to round off the tour. Our tour was accompanied by Val and Tom as temporary riders, who are both very sympathetic. Val likes to talk - and I mean that as a compliment! It was not a minute boring and I can highly recommend the English Bus Tour especially for single travelers. On my next trip to London I will definitely do one of the tours again.

We booked a small group tour with The English Bus because I had read so many reviews of big tours running behind and not leaving enough time to enjoy the sights. Our guide was Cara and she was great. She got us going right on time, got us right to the front of the line at Stonehenge, and got us to Bath with about 2 and 1/2 hours to enjoy the town. We had time to tour the Roman Baths and plenty of time to get a pasty and cider. She also provided us with some great recommendations of where to go for local food and drinks. Before we left town, she drove us past the Royal Crescent because she wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to see it. The secret place was a mixed bag. I loved the place she chose and it was perfect for me personally, but when we got there, it was past five and all the shops had closed. It was only ever meant to be a quick stop anyway, but I would have liked to grab a quick treat or souvenir. Cara got us back to town right on time and even took the time to get us all to the individual tube stops that would get us the closest to our accommodation. The small group tours are a little more expensive than the big bus, but for us, it was completely worth it.

I highly recommend this company and tour option which is very reasonably priced. After researching different options we chose this one due to the smaller group size and bus in the hopes of not feeling rushed and be able to spend time in each place. It delivered!!
We were a family of four with an 11 yr old and 15 yr old and were made to feel welcomed by Tom from the very start. From his cheerful safety introduction, wonderful and amusing facts on the sites along the way and organising us at each of the sites he was an absolute gem of a guide.
Whilst it was a big day it didn’t feel like it and we had ample time at each stop to enjoy the sites. We were also able to access bottles of water complimentary throughout the trip. Seats were comfortable and the panoramic glass roof and windows meant no matter where you sat the view was fantastic!

Our tour began near the London Eye under a drizzling sky. Our guide, Chris met us with a warm smile and a handshake and very efficiently got everyone arranged on the small but very comfortable minibus. Chris provided a running commentary for all the sights as we left London, Battersea power staton, MI5, MI6, Fuller's Brewery, etc. We stopped near Heathrow at a service area for a bathroom break and warm drinks. We arrived at Stonehenge simultaneously with a rainstorm. It is England after all. With rain pouring and wind whipping us we bravely circumnavigated the Stonehenge site. Back at the visitor center we had plenty of time to shop, have a warm snack, and use the toilet again before leaving. Then we were off to Bath. Along the way Chris dispelled my assumption that the Bath Museum had something to do with the baths of the Roman Period; it does not. Thereby, we were afforded more time to wander in Bath and enjoy its environs (and a pub). Slowly making our way back to London across the English countryside on narrow lanes we were taken through Avebury Henge which is relatively unknown but actually much bigger than Stonehenge; it was truly impressive. Later, we stopped at the "secret place" that all of us in the group took and oath not to disclose.
I can't say enough good things about Chris and English bus. It was a truly wonderful experience. Chris was very engaging, informative, and thoughtful of everyone's needs (toilet breaks). As an avowed introvert I marvel at Chris's ability to TALK ALL DAY. But seriously, if you have the opportunity, take a tour in a small group, specifically ENGLSH BUS. You won't regret it.

Hello!
Wow, what more can I add. Thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review.
Chris will be delighted to read that you had such a great experience. He founded The English Bus himself over 15 years ago and has poured his heart and soul into making sure all our guests, whether he is guiding them or one of our other members of our small team is guiding them, the very best experience we can. We know your time is so important to you, so even when it is raining all day which I know it was last Thursday, we do all we can to make the most of it.
Thanks again for travelling with us. As a small family business we value each and every guest. Hopefully see you again one day on one of our other tours!
Many thanks,
Jen

Andy was the toffee to our pudding!
Best made decision was booking this intimate tour with max 16 pax. Andy's energy, his humor and interesting stories about Stonehenge, London and Bath kept the tour well paced and relaxing. For someone (re:me) who has a lower mobility due to a recent knee surgery, I was relieved as Andy gave us a choice for free and easy or a talking tour with him and we chose the former as I was conscious about slowing the rest of the group. It felt safe walking exploring with my companion.
The secret venue was the reason why i booked the tour and when Andy took us there, the other reviews were absolutely spot on. It was the best part of the tour and just magical. Andy's playlist otw back is just perfect.
It was the last activity before we fly off the next day and I can't wait to recommend to anybody who says "there's nothing to do in London".
50 stars like the ones we saw on a lucky clear sky in "somewhere only we know".

No tour company in the UK has received more 5 star ratings than The English Bus and for good reason. Having taken countless (thousands) tours and excursions in five decades of world travel, including 11 on our recent tour of London, I value a hassle-free, fun, informative, engaging, and memorable experience. The English Bus--and specifically our guide Cara--delivered all that and much more! Cara is among the best of the best when it comes to maintaining a high level of enthusiasm, delivering a depth and range of subject knowledge, and showing genuine care for the experience of every individual in her group.
We enjoyed enough time at Stonehenge, Bath, and at a "secret place", with Cara sharing interesting info about what we were seeing along the way. She gave clear directions of when/where to meet at the end of each stop, walked us around Bath and our "secret place" a bit, enlightening us about things we otherwise would have missed, navigated the traffic with patience and concern for safety, and ensured we were headed in the right direction at our drop-off point. Our 13-hour adventure will be a lifelong memory thanks to Cara and The English Bus. For a discerning traveler, no detail was missed, and if I could give more than 5 stars I would.

The tour was fantastic as was our guide Andy. Andy was funny and knowledgeable and we learned a lot on our way to Stonehenge and Bath. We felt like we had enough time at both locations - I definitely recommend doing the Roman Bath Museum – otherwise you don’t get to see the actual baths (and they were really cool). The secret stop was super fun (and because it is secret – there weren’t really any crowds there which made it even better). We enjoyed the smaller tour bus – it was very comfortable. The tour is a little pricey compared to others, but we definitely think it was worth it!

While we wanted the majority of our trip to focus on touring London, I was interested in seeing the English countryside/getting out of the city. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and it was one of our favorite days of our trip. I highly recommend The English Bus and thank Andy, our driver and tour guide, for such a wonderful day.
Andy is polite, kind, well-spoken, and highly knowledgeable about English history and culture. Although the tour is a long 9 hour day, we were never bored because Andy spoke the entire time (except for on the ride home, when it was nighttime and dark outside).
The tour allows for the perfect amount of time at Stonehenge, enough time to leisurely enjoy the stones, visit the small museum and gift shop, and have a quick snack. I recommend having a scone or snack at the Stonehenge cafe, because we did not eat in Bath until about 2pm.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ride from Stonehenge to Bath. The English countryside was idyllic and beautiful and we were able to have a great view from the bus windows. The tour bus is a Mercedes bus with a glass ceiling and huge, surrounding windows, so your view is not obstructed at all. The bus is also very comfortable and has storage space for jackets/bags. The ride through the countryside was my favorite part of the tour. We had perfect weather (cool and sunny) which probably contributed to my enjoyment of this part of the tour.
We did not feel rushed in Bath and enjoyed our time there. The tour allows for just enough time to walk around part of the city, view the most important architecture, have a meal, and visit local shops. The secret place afterwards was also a fun way to end the day.
We highly recommend this tour! It was very refreshing and relaxing to get out of the city and off of your feet for a day. Because of Andy's tour, we certainly learned a lot about modern English culture, history, architecture, etc.

This was hands down one of the best tours I’ve taken! The sights and timing were great and the tour guide Lilly was phenomenal- shared so much nuance about history, culture all with a side of witty humour thrown in! Thankfully, It was unlike the huge buses that just take you and plonk you at each location- Lilly had personalised recommendations and pointed out the sights along the way! What’s also great is since it’s a mini bus, we were able to take scenic routes with panoramic city views in Bath which during sunset was breathtaking!
There’s no doubt in my mind that The English Bus company would be the tour I pick for my next trip to London as the journey was as good as the destinations!

This is a fabulous tour especially with Colin. It's long but very informative and enjoyable . The secret place is as cool as the main places to visit. There is enough time in each spot but not too much. Stonehenge was amazing . It has audio headphones . There is lots to see in Bath as well. The trip is beautiful to get to each area and Colin does a brilliant job of keeping you entertained and informed. I would highly recommend using The English Bus. Wonderful small company that really cares about their clients . It's a small bus ..16 people so you're able to hear well and are not waiting for people to get to the bus to leave .

SEEMS Ike we had two hours at Bath. No, you must pay additional for Baths entry, The English Bus is a well organized small group touring bus.. Mercedes bus..very nice. They’re well received when they pull up... you can tell they have a good reputation. And I’ll say it again, tour guide Johny is terrifically bright, disseminates the info clearly, is very entertaining, and cares about his group. I’m sure all of their tour guides are extremely competent. Look no further than THE ENGLISH BUS when looking for a good day trip company.

It doesn’t look like this tour includes the entry fees into the Roman Baths and Pump House. Is this correct? Do you cover the fee for going into the Stonehenge enclosure?
Written 26 September 2019
Entrance into the "old" Roman Baths is not included. If you don't want to wait in line to see them, or spend your time doing that, you can go into the tea house next door (restrooms can be used), get a taste of the natural water that bubble out of a fountain, and as you exit out the opposite door you can see one of the Roman Baths. This checked the box for me. There are Baths that are available for public use, but that line was also long and I'm not sure you would have enough time. We were also there on a holiday, so more local tourists than usual. Tickets for Stonehenge were included.

I am planning a trip to London some time in late April or early May 2020. When do you open the 2020 dates for booking? I tried them now on the website (Sept. 2019) and they are all blocked.

I had no trouble booking on line 4 months ahead of time. Maybe you can contact them on their website. They may only accept 6 mths in advance

How much time do people have to explore Bath?
Written 7 September 2019
2.5 hours. It was enough time to leisurely explore, eat, go to the baths. They take you to the royal crescent before dropping off in town, so you don’t have to factor that in.

Hi Perrine,
The departure time depends on which departure point you select - we depart at 8.45am from the London Eye and 9.10am from Victoria. We return to London at 8-8.30pm depending on traffic. There is more itinerary information on our website - just find the tour page and click the "itinerary" tab.
