What to expect
Meet your guide at Whitechapel Gallery and set out to explore the streets of Whitechapel, the stomping ground of Jack the Ripper. Listen as your guide sets the scene, describing life in Victorian-era London, and revealing the gritty history of London’s East End. Follow in the footsteps of Jack the Ripper and his tragic victims, as you discover the facts of the 1888 murders and learn how the identity of the notorious serial killer has never been confirmed – despite many theories. Stroll down Dorset Street, once renowned as the ‘worst street in London’, peek into the alleyways where Jack the Ripper stalked his victims, see the pubs that they frequented, and visit the spot where he left his only two clues. Along the way, get a feel for modern-day Whitechapel, with its lively markets, bold street art, and eclectic nightlife. After two hours exploring the historic district, bid your guide farewell and end your tour back at Whitechapel Gallery/

We have earmarked this tour as especially safe during the Coronavirus outbreak due to generally quiet places that we visit where social distancing is generally not a problem. All of our tours are private so it is just you/your family and your guide.  To make it easier and safer for all concerned we would suggest starting this tour a little later than the usual time, perhaps around 10.30-11am which allows us all to miss rush-hour. We are happy to still come to your hotel to meet you but for the moment we would suggest meeting us at the tour starting point.  This allows you to arrive by a taxi or uber rather than public transport. Please feel free to wear masks throughout or at times during the tour.  Your guide will also have a mask with them.

It was great to me you a few months back. Thank you for leaving a review, I really appreciate it. I'm glad that you enjoyed the tour, I really enjoy taking people around Whitechapel to the important sites and showing a bit of the contemporary city life too.

Enlightening (if not gory) tour around London
Oct 2019
Great tour! Stephen was very informative and engaging, and despite the awful English weather kept our group interested and chatty. I had multiple colleagues from abroad who found the tour extremely interesting and were left with a keen interest in learning more! Would highly recommend this tour!

I remember that day so well. We had about the worst weather of the whole year but it was nice to meet you all. It was a pleasure to show everyone from around the world the sights of Jack The Ripper's Whitechapel, Spitalfields and Aldgate. Thank-you for your review, I really appreciate it.

Expert guide and good time
Mar 2019 • Solo
Did a couple of tours with Stephen in early March. He was extremely knowledgeable and just generally a really nice bloke. I was a bit strapped for time so did two tours in one day, Jack the ripper and the Churchill tour. I was a bit unsure about spending the whole day on a 1 on 1 tour. With Stephen it wasn't an issue, he was really interesting, provided thorough and lively explanations of every site and even answered all my stupid questions without complaint. Especially enjoyable was our trip on the train when he explained in detail the history behind the underground and each stop along the way. The highlight was when a foreign TV crew was so impressed by his knowledge of Churchill - they decided to interview us!

Thanks so much for your great review. I'm really glad that you enjoyed your day with me, especially with two such contrasting tour themes and very different areas of London. I'm still a bit impressed with myself that we got to the war rooms to the second at the right time after all that. The TV crew was a highlight for me too but it was really nice to meet you and I will always remember our two tours.
