Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Kristin F0 contributionsA perfect combo of new & old on 1 tour!We absolutely loved this tour of the East End, with the perfect mixture of historical information (from the Huguenots to the Jewish community to the current Bangladeshi community), while taking in the incredible modern street art! Becky was so knowledgeable, and really knew her history & art - pointing out the smallest art (which we’d walked right by multiple times) to some amazing large murals. She made Spitalfields and Shoreditch really come alive for us! Highly recommend this tour, and especially Becky as your guide!Written 2 November 2024
- David R0 contributionsGuided tour of Natural History MuseumGreat tour with Becky. She was very knowledgable, polite and kind with the kids. Obviously you cannot see the whole museum in two hours so she structured it so we got the right highlights.Written 31 October 2024
- ammerry0 contributionsGoodThere are so many rooms. Our students enjoyed it so much. They learned about prehistoric animals and insects. It was so much fun. The interior is beautifully decorated. We haven't seen all the rooms yet. We plan to come back again.Written 31 October 2024
- Explorer7525840 contributionsPerfect TourOur tour of the National Gallery was amazing. Steph was knowledgeable and full of personality. She answered all of our questions expertly, and pointed out details of the art, the artists, and the history of the times that we were unaware of. I would highly recommend this tour and Stephanie as a guide.Written 27 October 2024

- Dream7385150 contributionsBest tour in London! Our museum guide, Ivo, was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to get along with. We learned so much in a short period of time and got to experience the British museum without being overwhelmed with all the different exhibits. He took his time to highlight the key points of each country and you can tell he is very passionate as he talks about history. This has been our favorite tour thus far and we are so glad that we got Ivo as our tour guide. I would highly recommend booking and will be recommending to my friends and family!Written 23 October 2024
- bolkin0 contributionsOutstanding experienceWe went on the tour of the British Museum with Andy, and it was an amazing experience! He got in touch with us the day before the tour, as well as the day off, confirming the meeting place and time. He was so knowledgeable and shared both the history of the museum, as well as how the various exhibits were acquired by England, and other fascinating information. Our group ranging in ages from 9 to 40-something really enjoyed the tour. Thank you Babylon tours!Written 23 October 2024
- kmc4500 contributionsGreatOur guide (Matilda) was terrific. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She gave me a much better view and understanding of the collection as she focused on particular items and gave us the background. I got much more out of the visit going with her than I would have by going by myself.Written 23 October 2024

- Johann Y0 contributionsGreat guided tour that took us to the most important things to see in the time we had to spend. We took a guided tour and would highly recommend doing so. Had we not had Ivo’s guidance during the tour, we would have only gotten fraction of the exposure and benefit from the time spent at the British Museum.Written 19 October 2024

- 807utkarshg0 contributionsA bit expensive, but worth itMatilda was a very nice guide. She was very knowledgeable & clearly passionate about science & history. The tour is a bit expensive, but you are in a small group & the guide will tell you interesting things which are not always written. You can also ask them questions, which can be very informative, especially for children.Written 17 October 2024
- Gonzo19520 contributionsIvo at British Museum OUTSTANDINGThe British Museum is an outstanding site to visit. But with Ivo and Babylon, the British Museum becomes mesmerizing and memorable. Ivo is amazing. Ivo started by asking our group what we wanted to see. When one of us responded with a picture, Ivo apologized because that section was closed. Ivo knew the Museum. Then, based on our request, Ivo took us on a trip through time with excellent explanations and timely questions to us and answering our questions. Ivo has extensive knowledge -of humanity and -history and -artifacts and -the site. Ivo gives his lecture and tour with attention to detail, Ivo has excellent diction. We were extremely lucky to get Ivo.Written 15 October 2024

Our Babylon Tours guide, Becky, was an excellent guide with a great knowledge of History. She was very important in showing and explaining the highlights of the Museum's huge collection of artifacts.
I also appreciated their concern when the Museum closed its doors earlier than expected, without any previous notice, and our tour was cut short - I got a partial refund for that.

The size of the British Museum’s collection is overwhelming, and so we chose a small group tour that would focus on the highlights. It turned out that we were the only ones on the tour and so we and our guide Matilda had each other’s undivided attention. Despite her youth, Matilda has may years’ experience guiding tourists through museums and she is extremely knowledgeable about the British Museum. She gave us in-depth information about the museum’s most interesting and greatest treasures, including the Rosetta Stone and the Elgin Marbles. She is very conscious of colonial biases and the debated provenance of items in the collections. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Benin Bronzes and the immense Moai - a statue from Easter Island - and learning about how they were acquired and at what cost to the original owners.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and highly recommend Babylon Tours and our guide Matilda.

Matilda, our guide, was excellent! She made the British Museum—an incomprehensibly complex institution—accessible and bite-sized. She balanced modern perspectives with historical concerns, and challenged our intellects just enough that we felt a little bit smarter after the tour (but not exhausted). Would recommend to anyone—even those who know nothing about human history or art!

What a fantastic experience!!!! Out tour started at 10am, everything was perfectly organized, meeting point set in front of the museum, we jumped a long long queue of people trying to get to the museum and were the first group to get int. Our tour guide, Luis, was wonderful, full of knowledge, enthusiastic about history, explained everything, open to discussions. We had the best time with the best guide. The tour was priceless, we would never notice some of the details without our guide. We remained in the museum for another 3 hours after that. Highly recommended!!!

Would strongly recommend the small group tour. Guide Ivo gave us a 'world tour' in about three hours. He was knowledgeable and professional, we never felt rushed.
If you have the time would recommend allowing a day.. take the tour in the morning and then break for lunch at one of the cafes within the museum or pause by the restaurant in the course of the guided tour and book a table for lunch.. There is little to no chance of getting in if you just roll up.
Watch out for plastic damage at the museum book stores (the Bri is a major publisher) or the up market store just before you exit. Fancy a model of Bast for £4000?
The silk scarves are covetable with many fewer zeroes on the price tag.

Our tour with Becky at the British Museum was truly enjoyable. Booking a tour like this with an expert guide is essential when you are trying to make the most of a brief visit. As someone who had visited the museum before, I found the entire experience great as well as my teen son was fully engaged the entire time and even said, 'I wish we had more time.' That says a lot! Book the tour, you won't regret it.

We enjoyed an informative yet lively tour with Larry, who greeted us with enthusiasm and kept us engaged throughout the tour. He mixed historical information with more current events, many not well known to visiting tourists. This was a great value for the price and would recommend to anyone who wants to visit the museum.

I don't tend to write reviews. Yet our experience was so positive that I felt compelled to take the time to write this review. First I must praise Babylon tours' staff. We had a semi private tour scheduled for April 6th at the British Museum. A couple of days before the tour I received a text that the British Museum staff was going on strike starting April 6th. I requested our tour be moved to the 5th and they were able to accomodate us last minute. We were worried we would end up with a tour guide that was unfamiliar with the British Museum. Nothing could be further from the truth, Becky was a knowledgable and engaging tour guide. It ended up being just my family of three. She individualized our tour based on our interests and we hit all the major highlights. This museum could be overwhelming, but Becky wove the history of artifacts and art pieces together. We moved through human civilizations and history in a cohesive way. My hsuband commented on how he wished he had learned history from someone as passionate and knowledgable as Becky-that he might have actually cared about history more and paid attention in class. I love history and felt Becky shared facts and knowledge that I had never learned before. Now that I experienced Babylon tours at both the Louvre and British Museum I understand the value of having a knowledgable and passionate tour guide. You get so much more out of museums and I plan to always visit museums this way. I will definitely look for Babylon Tours the next time I travel.

This semi private tour offers an excellent overview of the British Museum, and our guide Luis was instrumental in highlighting the featured exhibits. His extensive knowledge and personable nature made the experience extremely enjoyable and educational at the same time. We had two avid teenage historians in our group and he included their input and really engaged them in the process. I highly recommend this tour for an introduction. Add extra time to see the rest of the museum on your own. We spent another hour in the place and could have stayed even longer!

Having a great guide had made our tour experience to the British Museum memorable and rewarding. We made a right decision in joining a small group semi-privare guided tour on last minute and we are glad we did as one won't know where to start and what to see, given the British Museum is huge and we only have half a day to explore. Our guide, Luis was very engaging and knowledgeable in conducting the tour with detailed explanation of the historical context and background. History becomes so interesting with Luis, even with my teenager.
Highly recommended!!
