Highlights
  • Experience the pomp and pageantry of the Changing of the Guard ceremony on a walking tour
  • Watch the ceremony from a specially-selected vantage point
  • Hear your guide clearly with a personal headset
  • Navigate the crowds outside the palace with ease alongside a guide
What to expect
  • Your regal tour begins at a central location, where you greet your guide, don a personal headset, and receive a historical overview of the Changing of the Guard ceremony. Many tourists make the mistake of viewing the ceremony outside of Buckingham Palace. However, on this tour, handpicked vantage points ensure you get the best views of the royal tradition while listening to commentary that explains each part of the performance. Marvel at the shimmering coats of the household cavalry as their riders control the horses with expert precision; capture photographs of the iconic red and black attire of the Queen’s foot soldiers; and, move quickly between vantage points in a small group of only 15 people. Your tour concludes outside of Buckingham Palace. Please note: The Changing of the Guard ceremony is subject to changes in date, time, and cancellation at the discretion of British authorities. Cancellation due to bad weather is not announced before 11am. Even when canceled, customers still see a ‘wet change’ during which the guards march but without the usual music and parade.

Great Time at the Changing of the Guard Tour
Jan 2020
This changing of the guard tour was really awesome! Our tour guide was very nice and they provided a radio and earphones so we wouldn’t have any issues hearing our tour guide during the walk and presentation. We did this tour during the winter so I imagine the crowds were smaller vs the summer, but regardless I thought our tour guide was 5 minutes ahead of the other tour guides which allowed us to have the best standing spots to enjoy the view/presentations. I would definitely recommend taking this tour.

Informative, fun, and amazing tour! A must do in London!

We could not have been happier with the tour and especially our tour guide, Frances. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Great Britain, the history of the Royal Family, and all of the statues and buildings along the way. He showed us the best spots to see the Changing of the Guard and explained every part of what was going on. He was very friendly, helpful, and made the tour our favorite experience in London. We highly recommend this tour and would love to do another tour with Frances again in the future!

Fantastic, Comprehensive tour
Jan 2020
Not sure what I expected going in, but I basically assumed we would be standing at the gates of the palace and watch the guard. Instead, we moved to 5+ locations around the palace and got to see the hour long process happen from different venues. At each location we learned more about the history than I expected.

Our guide was friendly and knowledgable and even gave us some good tips of where to go after the tour.

Amazing tour
Aug 2019
Decided to do this tour before venturing inside Buckingham Palace as we wanted to see the changing the the guards. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic, informative & was always trying to get us the best vantage points. The small group size was great & made the tour more personal. Part of the tour takes you through St James' Park (which is a little emotional considering you get to walk the same path as Princess Diana). The Changing of the Guards was amazing to watch & we had great views. As part of the tour you get free entry into Buckingham Palace, which is great value.

ENTHUSIASTIC GUIDE! GREAT TOUR!
We've been on a prior bus tour with the Changing of the Guard advertised as part of the tour, and were disappointed in the little we saw. This tour was a walking one and our guide was Michael. Michael was 5 star! He was knowledgeable about all English history and knew the best spots for us to view the various ceremonies. We are from the US and don't get to visit the UK often. So we value those tours and guides that make the visit special. We can't recommend this tour or this guide, enough! We highly recommend the tour and we hope you are lucky and get assigned Michael as your guide.
