Fascinating tour by a wonderful guide
Feb 2020
Declan was a true delight and a wonderful find. We were essentially on a private tour as the other persons did not show up, Lucky us! Although he doesn't take us to the Globe Theater on the other side of the Thames; Declan takes us on a fascinating walking tour of unknown gems that are hidden in plain sight in today's London Black Friar area. I can't wait to read his book on Shakespeare in London as his tour was informative , interesting and fun! Highly recommend it!

Brilliant Shakespeare walk
Oct 2019 • Couples
Declan, our guide, was excellent. We had a terrific time following him around little alleys and small corners of the City as he showed us monuments and places connected to Shakespeare while answering to all the questions we had. It was a highly informative tour and we found out so many hidden gems about Shakespeare that you wouldn't find anywhere else! Definitely recommended!

Fascinating tour, great guide
Sep 2019
Declan was a knowledgable and entertaining guide. His tour visited a number of historical sites, and each stop was accompanied by little-known facts and great stories. If you have any interest in Shakespeare and the world he lived in, I highly recommend his tour.

A great 2 hours!
Today was a great day! I saw so many hidden-away pockets within the Blackfriars area where I now know Shakespeare spent much of his time living and writing (near the Globe Theatre). These little treasures I would have never discovered on my own. Declan, literally an expert on all things related to Shakespeare, provided heaps of historical information relevant to everything we viewed. My only regret during this tour is that I didn’t secretly record the 2 hours. Needless to say, I definitely recommend this tour.

Thanks Sydney! So glad it was good enough for you to want to secretly record (although in reality I don't allow recording of the Tour, in the same way that people aren't allowed to record plays or films). Don't forget, and this is for other people reading this too, that once you have done my 'Shakespeare in the City Walk' just come to me direct (in other words don't book it online) and you can come on my OTHER tour, 'The Blood and Tears walk' for £5 cash only. I reward loyalty....

Although I have worked in this part of the city, I was unaware of the nearby associations with Shakespeare.

I am revisiting Shakespeare as a retirement "project". Declan's tour was very informative and interesting. He has certainly done his research and I am looking forward to his book (he had better hurry though!).

His tour does not cover the Southbank (Globe)which I have visited separately. If you've only got time for one tour though, Declan's is the one.

A must-do for fans of Shakespeare or Elizabethan London
Jun 2019 • Couples
We were in the British Isles for 18 days and took lots of tours. This was one of our two favorites. Declan really knows his stuff (he mentioned some things my husband, an English professor, didn't know). He took us to a number of places we've never been and would have never found ourselves. He's so entertaining and interesting; we were sad we took this on our last day in London so that we didn't have time to take Declan's other tour.

A really fascinating and informative walk!
May 2019 • Couples
My husband Alan and I purchased this walk through Virgin Experience Days. We met Declan at Blackfriars station this morning (10th May) and commenced the walk in the company of a lovely couple, Ruth and her father Stef.
Declan took us to some hidden places, north of the River Thames. He was so interesting and passionate about Shakespeare. We were very fortunate to have had him as our guide and being only the four of us, made it more special. Declan was made for the job! We got along very well with Ruth and Stef and it made it such an enjoyable walk. Thank you. Margaret Thurlow

A wonderful opportunity to not only brush up on the life of William Shakespeare, but to visit hidden parts of London too. Declan took us to places we had no idea existed! We will be revisiting several sites on our next trips to London. Many thanks to Declan for a brilliant morning stroll - we will look out for your evening walk for another visit.
