- WAX N0 contributionsPoor experience. We have been before and did the original game and it was great experience. We visited to do the new game and the experience was no where near as good. First of all service in the bar was terrible. 20mins for a drink in an empty bar with half of the menu not available because they didn’t have stock. Our group split into two and both had poor experiences. The first room. Mid way through, our team walked in on the host resetting the room ahead of us. This completely broke the experience. For the second group, we somehow managed to skip most of puzzles in the first room because the door just opened randomly. This really threw us off and again broke the experience. It’s a shame because the first original room was one of the best we have ever done. The games hosts were good.Written 13 November 2024
- 460jennieg0 contributionsGreat funI booked the Sherlock themed boozy afternoon tea for my husband’s birthday, as part of a trip to London. We had a really good time, they give you a puzzle to solve while you’re eating, which was fun, and the food and Prosecco were pretty good. Our host was great, attentive and friendly, but not in your face, and the theming was cool. Would definitely book again, and do an escape room next time.Written 11 October 2024
- Louis H0 contributionsFun with friendsThoroughly enjoyed our escape room experience. Our host was engaging and funny. The puzzles were a good level of challenge and the themeing of the first two rooms in particular were fabulous. We returned after playing the main Sherlock game.Written 6 October 2024
- 298glendam0 contributionsWorst ExperienceWe had a reservation booked for The Mind Palace October 3, 2024. We have travelled from Canada to London and we usually book a Secret/Speakeasy bar each time we come. Yours was the worst ever. First of all we arrived right at 4:30 for our booking and there was no answer when we pushed the buzzer. Some other employee was entering a side door and said he would find someone. Strike one. Finally someone showed up and led us back to the lounge area. There were two people working or doing something behind the bar and didn't even acknowledge us Strike two. We then decided to just sit at a table which we had to do by ourselves. Strike three. We sat there for over 25 minutes and no one even came over to us to say hi, take our order for cocktails or anything. Strike four. Total waste of our time since we made the effort of getting there on time from our hotel which was a ways a way! We left and were totally annoyedWritten 5 October 2024

- indiesinger0 contributionsUnmatched immersion - best escape room we've ever doneThis is the best escape room we've ever done - by a considerably margin - and we've done a lot. The whole thing is an incredibly genuine immersive experience, from arriving at the secret location to informal debriefing in the hidden speak easy. It was engaging, exciting and professional throughout, and you can tell that it was written by the actual Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. All the expected characters make an (on-screen) appearance, too. The puzzles were a fantastic mixture, and, for us at least, just the right level of difficulty; it was achievable, but still made us think. The game itself lasted around 80 minutes, but we chose to spend a lot longer there (around 2 and a half hours) making use of the lovely speak easy - which itself contains more puzzles and adventures. We made the journey down to London from Sheffield, and we're really glad we did. In fact, we're already thinking about when we can make the journey again to do the first Sherlock room!Written 26 August 2024
- hitenpatel130 contributionsDisappointing second roomAfter having completed the first installment of Sherlock's escape room, we decided to visit again (albeit many years later!) to complete the new Mind of Moriarty experience. With the levels of expectations raised from the first visit, unfortunately this version fell short of the standards previously set. What made Sherlock fun was the fact that we felt as if we were in Sherlock's shoes, trying to solve a case and stop the fiend that is Moriarty. However, this time we felt as if we were simply just dropped into the scenario of needing to go through Moriarty's mind for AI purposes. It didn't seem very much like an episode of the TV series. What was disappointing were the puzzles themselves, which lacked creativity and seemed a little bit like anyone could do it without needing to think. While the first 2 rooms did require mental strategy, the need to be physical with the lasers was a tad boring. The third room was not so much a puzzle, more a bunch of buttons and switches being the only way to 'stop' Moriarty. It suddenly went from needing to be clever to solve problems to just stand near a button and hit it repeatedly. I think overall, the game was good but due to us having played before, this didn't seem as fun or mentally challenging. Sure, we didn't find it easy in the slightest but it wasn't so much our brains that needed to work, especially at the end. If the story was more captivating and the scene was set a little better from the beginning, it may be an overall better experience.Written 15 July 2024
- zsofiai20240 contributionsDisappointedOur family of four was excited to revisit the thrill of an escape room adventure, having fond memories from our previous visit five years ago. However, our recent experience with the new Mind of Moriarty left us feeling quite disappointed. While the first room held some promise, the subsequent rooms failed to live up to expectations. We felt like we were being hurried along, especially as one of the last groups of the day with the bar already closed. Instead of offering helpful hints when we struggled with a puzzle, the staff simply rushed us through to the next room. Despite managing to escape in time, it didn't feel like a true victory since we left behind unsolved puzzles. When we asked for feedback, the response we received was unhelpful, leaving us feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. Considering the hefty price tag of £47.25 per person, including fees and taxes, we expected a more engaging and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the Moriarty Experience fell short of delivering the excitement and challenge we had hoped for, leaving us questioning whether it was worth the cost for our family outing.Written 17 March 2024
- 122mariefrancej0 contributionsBest 11 birthday experienceWe celebrated my 11 years old daughter’s birthday with 10 of her friends at Sherlock. They had the best time, the experience was fun, the staff was warm, kind, fun and well prepared to welcome a very excited group of girls. We took the option of the pizza buffet after the game which was really handy and the girls loved hang out in the restaurant. Thank you for the great and easy no fuss birthday Sherlock team!Written 13 March 2024
- anita r0 contributionsA brilliant and fun activity and great value for moneyI booked this with my daughter. We were allocated to a team with another couple who were lovely. We loved the build up and the fact that the real tv characters do the videos. The puzzles were quite tough but we were given hints when we needed them. We loved it and would definitely do it again.Written 6 November 2023

- lassehaun0 contributionsGreatest in LondonThis is one of the greatest escaperooms I have tried out of about 20+ rooms. (And I work in one) Amazing scenography, in-game hints, And puzzles that fit with the story most of the time. The pacing from GM's was on point and we made it within the last 20 seconds. And also the waiting room behind the waiting room is beautiful and has great drinks (try Moriartys IOU) Give yourself a treat and if you can only find time for one escaperoom while you are in London, this is the one to try.Written 25 August 2023

This is a must do for anyone who loves escape rooms and even more so for any fans of Sherlock. Everything little detail has been thought out - the Sherlock tie ins were authentic, the puzzles challenging but not solveable, the Stamford’s (if you know, you know) slightly salty, always in character and super fun!! Everything here is to give you the best experience possible - from the start when you have to find the game giving the password in a (not telling what kind) shop, to the briefing and the game itself. We looooooved it!!!! So much fun that the hour goes so quickly. I would also recommend you stick around for cream tea at the hidden speakeasy afterwards - well worth the money. Could not recommend enough!

We played on a vacation to London and it was great fun. The live actors are a unique touch. They Made the game more interesting. The gameplay was exciting and thoughtful . We all enjoyed the Mind Palace afterwards, also a unique touch. We highly recommend the experience, it’s special and different than regular tourist site seeing, but feels very British.

I led a group through this escape room who enjoyed it much more than I did, so it's possible that escape rooms are just not my cup of tea. I will try to give a balanced review of the positives and the negatives.
Positives:
* The escape room features the actors from Sherlock reprising their respective roles. That was very cool and probably the best thing about it.
* The set up at the beginning was very atmospheric and thematic. Quite enjoyed the Stamfords - nice touch.
Negatives:
* The worst thing about this escape room was its end. The member of staff waiting for us after we completed the escape room actually told my group that they had failed, rubbed it in, and did her utmost to make them feel bad about it. Mind you, the group solved all the puzzles, but we did not manage to do so in the allocated time of one hour. I was rather shocked by this. This escape room is not an exam. Its purpose is to have fun. Congratulating us on completing the escape room would have been far more appropriate and certainly kinder and more in the spirit of the game. Instead, the member of staff seemed intent on ruining the experience for us. Then, after trying her best to make us feel bad, she tried to push some over-priced photographs. I don't know who thought this would be an appropriate ending to an otherwise enjoyable experience, but whoever it was clearly needs to reconsider their assumptions.
* Two of the puzzles did not work properly. In two puzzles, numbers need to be inputed. In both cases, we inputed the right numbers but they failed to register. We wasted a lot of time as a result because we thought we had got it wrong. We only discovered that the puzzles were malfunctioning when we tried to input those same numbers again and they worked the second time around.
All that being said, my group had a great time so clearly those issues bothered them far less than they bothered me.

Hi Dassi,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. It's great to hear that your group enjoyed our experience, but we're disappointed to hear that it wasn't to your taste.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your interaction with Stamford. We think there may be a genuine misunderstanding in terms of this conversation, as whilst our hosts stay in the character of Stamford throughout the experience, they would never set out to make our customers feel bad about their performance in the game. Our Stamfords are here to enhance the experience and world-building of Sherlock. Whilst they would certainly not intentionally set out to ruin this for anyone, we're sorry to hear this is how you felt after your visit.
Thank you for flagging the issues you had with a couple of our puzzles. We've investigated this internally, and our Operations Team have confirmed that the puzzles were working as they should and are not broken. Sometimes numbers need to be inputted in a certain way to unlock a puzzle, which may be why they appeared to work second time round.
We appreciate the experience wasn't to your taste, and any feedback which we can then use to continually improve our customer's experience.
Thank you!

Most expensive in London - We were lied to and given false advertising “the longest escape room in London” 100 minutes… well it was 40 minutes of waiting, pushed in a bar full of trash from parties, with no brief, no debrief and push to buy BBC overpriced merchandise as our own game host told us. Games inside of about 50 mins. Some were broken, we had no timer, clues provided without asking for them and… we don’t even know if we won.
And guess what! We complaint in writing and we have been ignored until after three emails and we posted the review … and surprise surprise they today lie all over again saying the 40 mins extra included even the reviewing the team score card etc. TOTAL SCAM, ignoring the customer feedback experience which was for my 40th birthday a present, and worst of all to see the very rude lack of attention or compensation for all the mistakes.

Hi Alicia,
Following on from our conversation over email, we would like to reiterate that we’re sorry you felt let down by our experience.
We did miss your initial email, which we’re very sorry to have done. However, as soon as we received your follow up email, our General Manager was sure to get in touch immediately, both over email and attempting to call, but we unfortunately couldn’t get through.
As stated on our website, the immersive experience as a whole is approximately 100 minutes, with 60 of these spent in the escape room itself, depending on how quickly the team can solve the puzzles. The 40 additional minutes are comprised of a pre-game briefing, a visit to our replica of 221b which features cast content and a post-game debriefing, all of which we believe your team were given.
We try to keep the content of our experience under wraps as to not ruin any of the surprises for our customers but have made this distinction between time spent in the escape room versus the time of the experience clear on our website and haven’t mentioned in any of our marketing that we’re the ‘longest escape room in London’.
We have reached out to discuss your feedback and do apologise that our experience did not meet your expectations. Wishing you well.
Many thanks,
The Sherlock Team

Overall: 3.5*
Theming: 4*
Game Master: 5*
Puzzle Variety: 3*
Quality (how well things worked): 5*
Escape Time: 54:41
We came for an escape game with a Sherlock theme but found ourselves in a BBC licensed Sherlock experience that happened to include a few escape games! The 100 minute experience is really a 60 minute game with 40 minutes of fluff.
The challenges incorporate different elements of convergent thinking and are relatively focused on numerical and logical problem solving. We played as a group of four and escaped at 54:41 although at every point in the game there was one person on the sidelines so a group of three may do better. That said, it is a rarity to find a game that claims to accommodate six players and six players can actually fit in the room!
All the equipment functioned as expected and there was a facility for communicating with the Game Master (although we never asked for any assistance). Some of the activities were quite standard, whereas others were quite innovative and the theme was maintained throughout. The storyline, however, made little sense. It didn’t impede game play but could have been better thought out.
Overall: an enjoyable experience but sparse in terms of activities. A nice touch is the bar at the end where you can get a thematic drink! We would happily return for The Mind of Moriarty but there are other escape rooms of superior quality around London.

Hi RGordon1123. Thanks for taking time to leave a review, and we're glad to hear you enjoyed the experience.
Sherlock: The Official Live Game is an immersive escape experience, with additional elements as well as an escape room. The briefing and debriefing sections are designed to immerse our customers in the unique world of Sherlock, before giving you the opportunity to step into the shoes of the great detective as you try to crack the case in our puzzle rooms.
We're glad you also enjoyed your time in our speakeasy, The Mind Palace, and hope to see you again for The Mind of Moriarty.

The theming was great, from the fake exterior to the interior of Sherlock's rooms. This was definitely appealing to our group as we were massive fans of the show. There were also nice surprise 'appearances' from the cast members throughout.
Not 5 stars for me because of the wasted time. You have to get there on time (fair enough) only to sit down in one room, then be told to wait in the bar for 10 minutes, then sit down back in the first room again before you can finally start the introductory video. Without all this wasted time, we would have been able to have a couple of minutes over the hour to actually complete the room, which was disappointing.
Having done 25 or so escape rooms before, this lacked the personal touch as you were grouped with other parties and so even though your rooms were separate, you didn't have a host of your own who could come and meet you at the end, talk about your experiences etc. Instead, we were met with an impersonal request to buy the photo for £10! This is the first time we've ever been asked to pay for a photo. Really they are missing a trick, as the extra publicity they would get through people sharing the photo if it was given to all participants would surely be worth so much more money!

Great puzzles to solve. Narrated by actors from the Sherlock Holmes series made it feel authentic. Interesting themed pub to experience. You don’t have to be a Sherlock fan to enjoy it but if you are I would definitely recommend.

Absolutely brilliant! I don’t want to give away any spoilers but everything has been so well thought out, you will not be disappointed! We had so much fun, it was really worth every penny!!
Had great fun choosing our ‘mocktails’ and hanging out in the bar… and all the staff were really friendly and gave the whole place a great atmosphere.
Last thing I have to say is spend the extra £10 and get the photo… the guy that is doing it is a true pro and the pictures were fantastic… not just an awkward snapshot, but something really worth framing.

It was really good fun. We got out 30 seconds before the time limit, although we did get a few tips :D. We were a group of 4 Germans and had no problems with the possible language barrier. However, you should at least be able to understand written and spoken English fairly well.

Is the no teens rule strict? it seems more like an escape room and our teens have done over 90? or is it more like a comedy club where it's up to adults if they want to bring children.
Written 23 February 2020
It is an escape room. My 10 year old came with us and had a great time helping to solve the clues.
After you leave the escape room there is a bar but they serve soft drinks so it is fine for children and teens.
