About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- D9795NRannier0 contributionsBest Tour I’ve ever taken!!This past August, I had the pleasure of visiting London with a group of nine friends, and went on an exceptional walking tour led by Stephen. His captivating presence and remarkable ability to engage each of us with a wealth of knowledge—from history and architecture to fascinating insights into James Bond and Harry Potter—made the experience unforgettable. It was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip. I look forward to doing it again on my next visit to London—if only we could have Stephen accompany us everywhere! I cannot recommend this experience highly enough—10/10!Written 12 September 2024
- 980allisont0 contributionsCan't recommend enough - do this tour!Fabulous tour! A must-do if you have a free afternoon in London and are interested in some unique tid-bits and great storytelling! Stephen was an incredible guide who immediately fit in our group and felt like a friend; plus he always had a lively story to share with us over a pint! Would highly recommend this tour (or any of the Ye Olde England themed tours) and will be doing it again on my next trip to London!Written 8 September 2024
- 980allisont0 contributionsAwesome Tour - Stephen is the Best!Stephen and the tour were incredible!! One of my favorite things in our whole London visit was this tour! Stephen, our tour guide, was very warm, personable, knowledgeable, lively, and entertaining - would have spent all day following him around and listening to his fun facts about even the most inconspicuous buildings and landmarks; he made everything remarkable! The tour was engaging and very personalizable - we did some standard walking tour mixed with 2 pub stops and I thought it was the perfect mix of educational and super fun 🤩 Any themed tour by Ye Olde England Tours is certified to be good - don't miss out!Written 8 September 2024
- Tour218975603770 contributionsHighlight of our London tripStephen was easily one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had! He was extremely knowledgeable and seemed to know everything about everything in London while also keeping it fun for our group. His tour was the highlight of our trip in London!Written 4 September 2024

- hazelvphillips0 contributionsMaking connections with Roman LondonKnowing a bit about Roman London we were curious to learn about Verulamium and the connections with London. We learnt a lot from Lin who was very knowledgeable, friendly and coped well with our lively group! We had the added bonus of a glorious warm day.Written 16 August 2024
- Danielle E0 contributionsAmazingWell! After years of planning a visit as it's a 3 or so hour drive from Leicester. to much to see in 1 day (we came sunday and Monday from 10 am until 4 pm). Return free for the year, so now we have no choice but to return! staying at the premier inn in Washington was perfect! We found that Monday was much easier to get into the sweet shop/bakers, etc. Worth the money beyond words, the mine was brilliant, just us 3 and the guide, and he was great with our son who is naturally very quiet. Trams, etc, are easier to get on weekdays and from the more remote areas. Get to the chippy for about half 11 or go to the one in the pit village as the ques are smaller and you won't be disappointed, limited benches but on a nice day, pop your bum on the grass! plenty of places to perch. 10yo loved explaining what was happening in the viewing area at the sweetshop (you tube fan, lol). Staff were lovely, great to see them so in character! Fish and chips, sausage roll, chocolate cake, cherry cake, and were all delicious! When you consider the cost of today's fish and chips, it's actually quite cheap, haha. Love that you can get up to date cider (being regulars at the Black Country means we are used to time period drinks that aren't carbonated). We saw everything in 2 days but feel we need 3rd just for a general wander! If we lived close by, this would be our go-to place for sure! gutted, we have to go home! Beamish! thank you! I haven't laughed, smiled, and relaxed like that in a while!Written 12 August 2024
- mes08530 contributionsYou do not have to pay to get in.What an amazing cathedral. The history is fascinating. Loved the carved pillars. What was also amazing was the fact you did not have to pay to go in. Well done Durham.Written 11 August 2024

- Q9749AIevans0 contributionsCity and Pub TourThis is a must for anyone coming to London. Steven is a fun and energetic character who knows everything about the city and beyond, answering any question I had to throw at him. Tours and history aren’t the most boring things in the world for me but it isn’t something I typically look forward to. However, looking back on the trip this was a highlight. Being able to see/tour the city and different pubs with a local was great. A lot of pubs we went to we would’ve never found on our own. Thanks Steven!Written 27 July 2024
- T9189WRnatalied0 contributionsBest tour I’ve ever been on!Our Robin Hood guided tour was excellent, Stephen was friendly , knowledgeable and we had such a laugh while learning lots of history. We saw places that even locals wouldn’t have known existed and I cannot wait for the next tour. I love that the tours are private ( not 70 of you on a packed out tour bus ), so you get to ask all your questions and it feels so personal. We explored a canal , caves , a castle and the oldest pub in the UK ( to name but a few stops ). I would recommend Stephen for any of the personal tours he offers and cannot wait to book the next one. Thank you again Stephen for a wonderful day!Written 27 July 2024

- Graeme-Lennai0 contributionsAirpower Development in World War IJames took my wife and I on a facinating tour of the WWI aircraft in Hanger 2. He was able to explain how aircraft developed throughout the Great War in an easy to understand way. I particularly liked how he tied the loose ends together and answered all our questions. We enjoyed our tour with James immensely and would unreservedly recommend his tour.Written 12 June 2024
- Roam154484342840 contributionsThoroughly enjoyableThoroughly enjoyable, a great 1/2 day out being informative and entertaining. The courtroom, the gaol, the cells and convicts stories all very good, however the court case is definitely the star attractionWritten 25 May 2024
- lyndat8050 contributionsAmazing house shown by friendly and knowledgeable guideWe were lucky enough to have a private tour of Hatfield this week. The house is filled with incredible original paintings and treasures, all shown to us by Dermot, a charming and knowledgeable tour guide who took us through the spectacular rooms pointing out the features. The gardens are beautiful and the house, although splendid, has a family feel.Written 16 May 2024
