Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Charlie is EXCELLENT. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the West End and its theatre history and he conveyed it authoritatively. He also was genuinely interested in our own knowledge and interests. He supplements his verbal narratives with interesting and possibly rare printed materials relating to the individual theatres; plays and musicals; actors and actresses; and city history. This tour is a MUST if you are a fan of London's rich theatre history. By the way, the weather was not good: signficant wind; cloudy skies with intermittent rain; chilly temperatures. Yet his tour was so good the weather didn't bother us until towards the very end of the tour. We enjoyed it so much!

My husband and I spent 12 days in London for our honeymoon and this was by far our favorite part of the entire trip! We both work in theatre professionally and know a lot about the art form -- however, we were blown away by the knowledge and passion that emanated from our tour guide Charlie. We live in the states, and have gone out of our way to tell our friends about how fantastic this tour is! 10 stars out of 10! We cannot recommend this enough!

Charlie is so personable and well-informed that his tour is a total delight. Even though we shared a theater background, I learned so much and I heartily recommend spending your time learning and laughing on this great tour. And honestly, the time flew by. While I am considerably older than Charlie, the walking was not an issue. Thanks Charlie!

Really enjoyed the tour with Charlie, packed full of interesting and quirky facts about the fantastic tradition of theatre in London. Even though I’ve lived here and enjoyed many plays, this tour gave me a new perspective on how theatre has evolved, and how some acting stars got their big break. Charlie is very knowledgeable and passionate about this aspect of our culture. Highly recommend!

I had a great tour and learned many thing about the theatres at West End and the South Bank, including the famous Globe theatre. It's a lot of walking, but Charlie ensured that I wasn't hungry or needed some food. He also made sure that I understood everything (I'm not a native speaker), which was great.
During the tour he has shown me old programs of the theatres, which made his explanations even better. It was a great trip through the history of Londons theatres and you will learn a lot. We visted many theatres and Charlie could say so much about each of them, his knowledge is fantastic.
If you like to go to the theatre I highly recommand doing a walk with Charlie, he even offers you tips to get cheap tickets, in case you are unsure how to get hold of them.

Charlie did a wonderful job on this tour, and by the end of the 3+ hours, I felt as though I had gained a good understanding of the West End, its history, and the many famous names that have acted there. In regards to said famous names, as a New Yorker who signed up for this tour as a fan of Broadway musicals, I was pleasantly surprised by how familiar I was with the actors and actresses discussed: of course, there were new names as well, and by no means were the stories Charlie told old hat (to the contrary, they were extremely interesting and often quite fun), but given how many famous names cropped up along the tour, I’m certain even non-theater fans could enjoy this experience. Great tour!

Charlie is very passionate about theater and actors . No wonder , as after the tour I have learned he has a degree in Drama theater . He is an actor and lead tours …
I would suggest this tour to people who are knowledgeable in theater, as all tour is about the actors and history of theater and without knowing the subject you can get lost .
We walked around part of Covent Garden , stopped in front of some theaters and were presented with some interesting facts , shown some old programs , photos .

A great tour by someone who loves theatre and wants to share that enthusiasm.
Lots of information but never overwhelming. Really liked looking at theatre programmes and photos from back in the day - a terrific touch. Would happily book again. Recommended for locals and tourists alike.
