      Perfect day trip from York!
This is an absolutely lovely tour, carefully planned to showcase the charming villages, incredible landscape of the Dales, and the setting for All Creatures Great and Small fans. My family and I had a wonderful time, and our tour guide, Mark, was indefatigably kind and informative throughout the whole day. I highly recommend!

      Great Day in the Dales
Wonderful tour. You get a great overview of the Dales. Our guide/driver, Mark, was knowledgeable, witty, and took great interest in each guest. He knew where to get the best pictures. The bus was comfortable. He also gave a great recommendation for dinner in York that we followed up on.

A Magnificent Trip Through the Dales
Chris was welcoming and friendly. He provided any necessary information as well as interesting stories and facts. He stopped frequently for photographs. The stops were well planned and generous in time allotted. The tour is one that I would recommend to any adult or senior. The walking required was not onerous.

      Fantastic Experience
Mark, our guide was informative and his commentary quite interesting. He included history, facts, personal stories, and amusing anecdotes. The stops were generous in length. He even personally guided those who wanted to go on a walking tour at one of the stops. He made sure-fire recommendations for places to eat. I would highly recommend this tour!

Enjoyable and beautiful Yorkshire Dales tour
Yesterday I went on the Herriot and Yorkshire Dales tour. Mark was our guide and there were a total of four of us. Mark was an excellent guide and driver, giving us useful commentary when driving along and also when we stopped to see particular sights or areas. The weather wasn't great but it didn't rain and we did see some blue sky at one point. The views driving through the Dales were wonderful, and I really enjoyed our lunchtime stop in Grassington, the fictional 'Darrowby'. An excellent day all around!

Interesting tour with a beautiful stay in Whitby
Although the weather was not the best, I enjoyed the trip extremely. We were only 4 at this tour and our driver Mark explained and told us so much about the country, about Yorkshire and Whitby. Thanks so much Mark! Whitby is a very busy beautiful little town at the seaside. All the little shops and restaurants and bars are made to have a good time there. Also the Abbey is worth a visit.

      Highlight of our York Trip
WOW! What a fabulous day out my daughter and I had when we went on the Herriot and Yorkshire Dales Day Trip from York. It was so much fun, informative, great to see all the little villages, the countryside and the wildlife. Mark was fabulous. He was so friendly, made our day really. Many photo stops and recommendations and Mark was always there to take a photo. He knew so much and it was really great to listen to his commentary as we drove along the country roads. We learned a lot! There were only two of us that turned up but he still went along with the trip - so we were lucky that we got a private tour!! What an interesting part of the country. Made out trip to York very memorable. Thanks BOBH Holidays and Mark - I will be recommending you to many people.

Outstanding holiday in Whitby and North York with Mark and BOBH Day tours
Another amazing and memorable trip finely managed by tour guide Mark. Mark from BOBHolidays started the day at 9 am and greeted all of us - the seven tourists who were joining the tour from USA, Canada, Singapore, and India. Travelling through the highlands while listening to Mark's wealth of knowledge, the first stop was at Byland Abbey. In the middle of no where the Byland Abbe is an absolutely stunning architecture which stands tall and reminds us of its extravagance where it was in full totality. Built in 1154 there is so much to absorb from this place. Wish Henry VIII has kept the Abbey intact for us to still enjoy the architectural brilliance. We also stopped at the beautiful town of Hemsley where we enjoyed the award winning Sausage roll from Hunters of Hemsley. Do not forget to stare at William Baron Feversham whose statue stands tall in the heart of Hemsley. We also enjoyed a cup of coffee at the Vinehouse Cafe which is a short walk by the church. You can also see their horses grazing or lazing in the stables. After Hemsley we took a few stops to enjoy the vast landscapes and learnt about the sheep flocks of the villagers. The contrasting stop of dried Heather plants, the vast highland landscapes, flowing into the mountains was breathtaking. I will come back to see the purple and lavendar views of the Heather plants. Our long stop was at Whitby - what an awesome introduction of Whitby and James Cook by Mark. He stopped in front of James Cook's statue which I was staring at in awe and thinking about so much he had achieved in his voyages in his short life of 50. From the James Cook statue we could also see the vast Whitby Abbe and the spiralling staircases in the horizon and the surrounding sea. Breathtaking views. Mark took us around the town and parked the BOB Holidays van and gave us nearly 2 hours to explore the city. We immersed into an awesome lunch at QUAYSIDE. Definitely try their Cod fish and chips and Griddled Sea Bass. We tried both and they were amazing. There are some other great restaurants around like Magpie Cafe and many other choices. Also good ice cream shops and tea rooms to sit back and enjoy. We took 99 steps to the Whitby Abbey. Also walked by the beach and into the pier to take some great photos. The sea gulls added to the beauty of the place. After spending an amazing 2 hours at Whitby we stopped at Goathland station and remembered Harry Potter. Also took some photos for memory. Mark drove back to York and shared more interesting stories on the way and ended the trip with some strong dinner recommendations. If you are in York, please book this trip with BOB Holidays and definitely recommend Mark.

Thank you Mark for an awesome trip around Yorkshire Dales
All credit to Mark our knowledgeable, tour guide from BOB Holidays that we had lovely trip and a memorable day spent in Yorkshire Dales National Park. The tour took us around Pateley Bridge, Kettlewell, Hawes, Askrigg and Bedale. We spent some amazing time in Pateley Bridge which was quiet and full of pure nature. Also enjoyed some fudges from the World's Oldest Sweet Shop in Pateley Bridge. Pateley Bridge also has some fine bakery where we ate a fresh fruit scone. Kettlewell was also outstanding with pure nature and its untouched beauty. Mark's expert guidance and stories made sure that we learnt more about these places, the farmers' lives, the famous stories like filming of Calendar Girls in Kettlewell. Our lunch stop was in Hawes where we also did the cheese tasting in Wensleydale Cheese factory. Their restaurant is highly recommended. Please do not forget to try the Cheese Toasties and also pick up some cheese for relishing back at home (my favourite was Apricot Cheese, Cranberry Cheese, and the Spicy Cheese).

What a wonderful day tour with an incredibly competent guide! We departed from York precisely on time, allowing us to stay on schedule and hit all the stops at precisely the right time so that we could have enough time each time when we made a photo stop and when we stopped for lunch in Whitby. We got beautiful views of the Yorkshire Moors. The route was scenic and the photo stops were optimal. When we arrived in Whitby, the guide offered advice on a wide variety of things we might do, including estimates on how much time each activity might take. The railway trip was of the least interest to me. I enjoyed it well enough but I think it's better suited to a group or a family rather than a solo traveler like me. And the guide. Not only was he a wealth of knowledge offering both history and amusing stories along the way, he knew the route very well and when a particularly good view was coming up on the route - like Castle Howard - his timing when alerting us to the view was perfect so that we didn't miss a thing. Very satisfied with this tour and highly recommend for groups and solo travelers.

This full-day tour includes some amazing views of the moors (loved the huge fields of heather) plus an interesting variety of additional stops (historic train station, seaside town of Whitby, etc.). Our guide, Matt, was well versed in the history that contextualized everything we saw and made it so much more interesting, plus he has a great sense of humor and had us laughing. We would have been reluctant to try to drive on these little roads ourselves, so we were very glad to let someone else do the driving.

This was such a good trip. Very well thought out route ensuring we stopped at all the best places for the right amount of time. The guide and driver of the tour was very friendly, knowledgable and clear in his instructions of when and where to meet. He was also a very good driver. The train from Whitby to Goathland station was optional but we would highly recommend, the scenery is breathtaking.

I've been going to the North Yorkshire Railway before it actually opened. My husband and I were volunteers. After being in the office all the week it was a great escape and a busy weekend. I helped run the buffet carriage and served the food out to the visitors and also painted some of the carriages. My late husband worked very hard on the railway and enjoyed painting many of the carriages. My husband's brother still goes up many weeks in the year still mending and painting etc. All voluntary work. The Railway is fantastic and now we take our Grandchildren on the trains. We usually go from Pickering to Grosmont and sometimes all the way to Whitby. It is a wonderful day out and gives the children an idea of what past like was like. I am unable to put the correct date we went as it was before the Pandemic.

Our day trip from York over the beautiful North York Moors to lovely Whitby was our best day out. Mark our driver and tour guide was excellent; very knowledgeable of everywhere we visited throughout the tour and clear and concise with drop off/ meet up points and timings. Was a really enjoyable, interesting and relaxing day, felt the company offered an excellent personal service since we were a small group of 11 and would happily recommend BOBH tours.

This was a great tour despite the dreary weather.
Mark was a fantastic driver and tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and flexible, making allows for inclement conditions.
We enjoyed good food in the small villages, dramatic sights of whitby - Mark drove us up to the Abbey and then we walked back down from old to new parts of Whitby, great views of town and harbour.
Fish and chips at Quayside was quick and delicious.
Then onto the steam train. Again Marks local knowledge helped to get best shots of the steam train.
    A great day out.
Travelled with older relatives and they managed everything except the walk down from the Abbey.
Although we travelled in July the weather was intermittent showers throughout the day with low lying cloud cover, which Mark allows for.

I have great pleasure in recommending BOBH minicoach tours. I did two full day trips from York: firstly the North Yorkshire Moors, Whitby and the steam railway, and secondly the Yorkshire Dales. Mark was the driver/guide both times. Mark was excellent - polite, punctual, engaging, helpful, informative, knowledgable, humorous. He took a personal interest in each of his customers, his commentaries were clear and interesting and his driving was very professional. The minicoach was very comfortable. The itineraries were well chosen and I came back feeling I really knew the areas we visited. I thoroughly enjoyed the two days.

Fabulous tour from start to finish. Pick up and drop off is right in front of the Cathedral, minibus is comfortable and provides great views. Mark was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who somehow memorizes everyone’s name with just one introduction. The scenery is the superb. We loved Whitby and the fish and chips at the Quayside Restaurant were a lovely treat. It was so good that we stayed an extra day in York to take the James Herriot Dales tour the following day with the same company and guide. Pro tip: sit on the right hand side of the bus on these trips, even though it’s single seats as this side has the best views.

This trip was incredible! There is just enough time in Whitby to grab a takeaway fish & chips. Our driver/guide was AMAZING! We would definitely recommend! I would take the train, as you see everything you could want in the bus and then you go to the station (platform 9 3/4 from Harrry Potter) to wait for the train anyways. I would just stick with the bus, as he will take you up to the abbey so you save time walking UP the stairs. Then you have plenty of time to look around, walk down the steps, have some food, and look around. Taking the train rushes you, you can’t go to the abbey, and it seemed like a waste of time.
