      Highly recommended trip
Such a lovely experience with Raffi, Sophia and Kassan (sorry if the names are spelt incorrectly). A really lovely time spent travelling on the River Ouse with a very informative commentary along the river and delicious fish and chips. Lovely staff so friendly both on the boat and the admin team. Would thoroughly recommend.

Ok for someone with slight mobility issues.
This is a good ,especially when the weather is warm. I would say the commentary could have been better. It was boring & felt it was being read word for word , from a script. It would be nice to have had some interaction with guests. For someone with slight mobility issues, I found it relatively easy to board the boat. We got our tickets online and it was really easy . If you order a drink, you collect it from the bar.

      Ouse River Cruise
We did a privately chartered boat ride. The event was for work colleagues and was a massive success. We had a great time. The process of booking was very easy. We were sorted out by Kirsty who was really efficient and provided excellent customer service. On the night we were looked after by Skipper Fraser and Tom and Heather - all three were incredibly friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend booking an event like this for a party or work event. It was a lot of fun. We will book be again in the future.

      Poor - waste of time
Pretty boring, no sights to see, just one end of the river to the other. Save your money & walk round York instead. All you see are houses alongside of the river and a few pubs.

A Great Trip and Excellent Food.
We thoroughly enjoyed our fish and chips river cruise. The food was absolutely top notch chippy food. The boat was clean and the on board bar was sensibly priced. I'd recommend this to anyone visiting this great city.

      A boat-ally great time.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff (Andy, Finn and Isabelle) were absolutely superb. Attentive, engaging and warm to all passengers on the cruise. The experience itself was wonderful. The river was still and calm and cruise practically glided up and down before returning to dock. We'd bundled this in as.part of my wife's birthday celebrations, and they were wonderful in giving her a birthday shout-out. Finn and Isabelle on the bar were fantastic. Great customer service from both. Andy the skipper was wonderful as well, particularly when giving his anecdotes and stories as we came into dock. A truly lovely experience, and one we cannot wait to come back and do again in the future.

Enjoy the tranquility of the River Ouse
My wife and I joined the last York Floodlit Evening Cruise of the season, which despite the cold weather, we had a very enjoyable relaxing cruise, watching the river go by. We saw York in a different light, if you pardon the pun, as we sipped our Prosecco to the chorus of birds singing. The cruise encouraged us to walk and explore the riverside the following day. The Captain and crew member made us very welcome. After a day walking this is what we needed. Thank you City Cruises

      Fantastic family outing
Wonderful family outing, the river was in Flood so we stayed tired up, but it didn't matter. We took 3 grandsons they really enjoyed themselves. The Santa was amazing so good with all the children 😁. And the Christmas presents were fantastic unique for each child. I would have no problem booking with them again.

      Lovely santa experience.
We had yet again another magical santa experience with York City cruises. Our boat was unable to sail due to the river levels been high but it didn't spoil it at all. Their was plenty to keep our 7 year old daughter entertained on board. Activity bag, a sing song and music. Glass of wine / hot drink and mince pie for the adults and juice and biscuits for the children. The staff and the elves on board really went out of the way to be helpful and cheerful. Santa claus, as always was just the best, the real deal. No other santa we have seen ever compares. Every child got plenty of time to chat with him individually and my daughter recieved a lovely good quality gift. She came away so excited and happy. We will be booking again for next year.

The most unfestive experience ever DO NOT BOOK
Booked for an afternoon river cruise. We arrived full of spirits and excited for a festive start to the day. The decorations were pittyful,if non existent. Toilet was filthy Staff were not engaging, not festive and certainly not entertaining. The Christmas music was sad slow songs. The worst experience in York, an hour of our lives we're never getting back

I wish I could get my £23 back. Staff let people move the social distancing barriers so they could sit anywhere. The voice over was too quiet to hear anything. The passengers were so careless and loud and inconsiderate, and the staff didn’t care to ask them to respect other passengers who are there for the information. If you want to spend £20 to chat loudly and get drunk with friends on a boat for an hour then this is great for you but if you want actual information and actual experience then don’t bother.

We had originally booked an afternoon tea cruise but due to the water levels of the Ouse being too high it was cancelled and we were provided with a voucher to re-book and a complimentary ticket for myself and my fiance on the 1 hour sight seeing cruise. Although we were disappointed to not be doing the afternoon tea, The sight seeing cruise was just as enjoyable and Laurie our skipper was brilliant. He was very funny and attentive and made a 60 minute boat ride fly by with his humor and informative commentary. Social distancing was enforced and we felt very safe and as if we had our own little section of the cruise. Staff were also great, permitting people on and off the cruise in household groups and cleaning down as soon as we disembarked. Great fun and the views are fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed a relaxing and enjoyable evening cruise along the Ouse. Captain Laurie provided an engaging narration and we were able to savor the early evening from the upper deck. Good fun, beautiful sights.

This is one of those things that you feel you need to do when in the lovely city of York due to the queues waiting to board and the fact you feel there's so much more to see from the river you might have missed from the land. Truth is their isn't. The boat trip is nice but a little dull not much to actually see. The on boat commentary talks about things you cant actually see without binoculars and can drone on way passed anyone caring. They do sell drinks on board which as they have a captive market are still priced within reason, They are doing their best to promote the 1 meter rule during this difficult time but care must be taken on your own part to keep it that way once boarded and when debarking at the end of the boat trip.
If I was doing it again i would get a self drive boat which are available just along from the cruise boats it seems a lot more fun. booking in advance recommended but you can just turn up and see if your lucky.

my husband and myself were in York for a short break and decided to take a river cruise. The team of Lawrie the captain for our trip and Josh who served us drinks and snacks and looked after everyone on board. Lawrie was a great captain giving us plenty of history intermingled with his funny jokes. we enjoyed every minute of our trip with them and would recommend to everyone young or old.

It was easy to book, but they didn't allow prebooked priority access. We had to queue up behind people buying tickets, which meant we didn't get priority seats, despite paying in advance.
The river is lovely, it was fun sitting on top of the boat so we could see everything clearly, and the tour was a good amount of time, however we could barely understand the tour guide, so we were really just looking at everything. He also seemed to be talking about things that he could see ahead, so by the time we could see them, he was talking about something else.
There is an ice cream boat with a cow on the roof docked next to the cruise, selling delicious ice cream.

We had booked tickets and got in the queue early so as to be able to get seats inside as it was a chilly day. The people with tickets were queuing on one side of the road, people without on the other. We were the second group in the queue behind some girls who had been advised to be there early to get good seats. When we were allowed to board we were told that we were not allowed inside and made to go up onto the open deck. My husband and I are 73 and he has walking difficulties, needing to use a stick. We were not bst pleased and I did make a comment, but we were still told to go on the top deck. It was very cold as the trip went on and another member of the party went to get get us hot drinks from the saloon. Guess who the people were downstairs in the warm? The ones who hadn’t bothered to book tickets! I realise that not everyone can be accommodated in the saloon, but surely people who booked and paid in advance and bothered to get there early to be able to choose a seat should have priority over those who did not. Appalling service and no consideration given. I shan’t be rushing to book again. We spent most of the trip trying to hold onto a red and white umbrella in the wind and rain and seeing very little. Dreadful.

Booked onto the cruise during a recent trip to York.

It was a rainy day, which meant we stayed inside rather than brave the weather on the open deck.

The staff were friendly and the boat clean.

The captain did his best to make the journey interesting, however truth be told there weren’t that many sights to actually see from the river, so it was a little boring.

Having also done the bus sight seeing your the following day, it appears that most of the interesting buildings are out of view from the river.

This was a very educational, and sometimes funny, river cruise!

The captain of the boat is great and comes out with some funny jokes as you sail along the river.

The only issue I experienced was that the speakers on the boat were not that loud, so it was quite difficult to hear what the captain was saying. Especially when there were young screaming children on and the family sat behind us decided to have the loudest face time call ever!

Other than this, I would recommend going on one of these cruises if you have the time to do so.

Booked our trip at least 1 week prior to travel aware COVID is still impacting the leisure industry. Arrive to a long queue and operator taking on pay as you go travellers with no consideration to those who had booked. The result was we couldn’t get a seat on deck and we’re the only ones who had to sit inside, with masks on the entire trip due to no seating left for us. For us a very poor trip spoilt by the operators.
