Awesome Trip with BOB Holiday and Mark. Worth it!
Mark is excellent as he remembered the names of all of us! He has a deep knowledge and explained everything in details. Whitby is a nice place to visit and the steam train is worth to try. Don’t forget to have fish and chips here in Whitby. Love to see the heather bushes bloom on the way to Whitby, at Farndale to be exact. On the way back to York, we saw goats crossing the road so we had to stop for a while. A moment to remember. If you plan to visit York, I recommend this tour!

      Awesome trip! Worth it!
This was a fantastic tour. Great group of people on a smaller bus, enough time to see all of the sights, and the tour leader was excellent. We learned so much about the various locations, were given clear instructions about where to go and where to meet during our open time in Whitby., and had a fabulous time. We highly commend the tour guide, Mark, who was knowledgeable, friendly, informative, and funny. Fantastic trip that we would highly recommend.

Interesting tour with a beautiful stay in Whitby
Although the weather was not the best, I enjoyed the trip extremely. We were only 4 at this tour and our driver Mark explained and told us so much about the country, about Yorkshire and Whitby. Thanks so much Mark! Whitby is a very busy beautiful little town at the seaside. All the little shops and restaurants and bars are made to have a good time there. Also the Abbey is worth a visit.

Outstanding holiday in Whitby and North York with Mark and BOBH Day tours
Another amazing and memorable trip finely managed by tour guide Mark. Mark from BOBHolidays started the day at 9 am and greeted all of us - the seven tourists who were joining the tour from USA, Canada, Singapore, and India. Travelling through the highlands while listening to Mark's wealth of knowledge, the first stop was at Byland Abbey. In the middle of no where the Byland Abbe is an absolutely stunning architecture which stands tall and reminds us of its extravagance where it was in full totality. Built in 1154 there is so much to absorb from this place. Wish Henry VIII has kept the Abbey intact for us to still enjoy the architectural brilliance. We also stopped at the beautiful town of Hemsley where we enjoyed the award winning Sausage roll from Hunters of Hemsley. Do not forget to stare at William Baron Feversham whose statue stands tall in the heart of Hemsley. We also enjoyed a cup of coffee at the Vinehouse Cafe which is a short walk by the church. You can also see their horses grazing or lazing in the stables. After Hemsley we took a few stops to enjoy the vast landscapes and learnt about the sheep flocks of the villagers. The contrasting stop of dried Heather plants, the vast highland landscapes, flowing into the mountains was breathtaking. I will come back to see the purple and lavendar views of the Heather plants. Our long stop was at Whitby - what an awesome introduction of Whitby and James Cook by Mark. He stopped in front of James Cook's statue which I was staring at in awe and thinking about so much he had achieved in his voyages in his short life of 50. From the James Cook statue we could also see the vast Whitby Abbe and the spiralling staircases in the horizon and the surrounding sea. Breathtaking views. Mark took us around the town and parked the BOB Holidays van and gave us nearly 2 hours to explore the city. We immersed into an awesome lunch at QUAYSIDE. Definitely try their Cod fish and chips and Griddled Sea Bass. We tried both and they were amazing. There are some other great restaurants around like Magpie Cafe and many other choices. Also good ice cream shops and tea rooms to sit back and enjoy. We took 99 steps to the Whitby Abbey. Also walked by the beach and into the pier to take some great photos. The sea gulls added to the beauty of the place. After spending an amazing 2 hours at Whitby we stopped at Goathland station and remembered Harry Potter. Also took some photos for memory. Mark drove back to York and shared more interesting stories on the way and ended the trip with some strong dinner recommendations. If you are in York, please book this trip with BOB Holidays and definitely recommend Mark.

Thank you Mark for an awesome trip around Yorkshire Dales
All credit to Mark our knowledgeable, tour guide from BOB Holidays that we had lovely trip and a memorable day spent in Yorkshire Dales National Park. The tour took us around Pateley Bridge, Kettlewell, Hawes, Askrigg and Bedale. We spent some amazing time in Pateley Bridge which was quiet and full of pure nature. Also enjoyed some fudges from the World's Oldest Sweet Shop in Pateley Bridge. Pateley Bridge also has some fine bakery where we ate a fresh fruit scone. Kettlewell was also outstanding with pure nature and its untouched beauty. Mark's expert guidance and stories made sure that we learnt more about these places, the farmers' lives, the famous stories like filming of Calendar Girls in Kettlewell. Our lunch stop was in Hawes where we also did the cheese tasting in Wensleydale Cheese factory. Their restaurant is highly recommended. Please do not forget to try the Cheese Toasties and also pick up some cheese for relishing back at home (my favourite was Apricot Cheese, Cranberry Cheese, and the Spicy Cheese).

      Highly Recommend!
The description of the meet point was clear, easy to find. The driver, Mark, showed up early and welcomed us into a clean, warm van. He was knowledgeable and personable, sharing interesting details as we drove and on site, and he learned all our names and pointed out things that fit our personal interests throughout. The scenery was stunning. There was plenty of time to wander around and explore at our leisure. Mark gave us all the information we needed--where to find sites, restaurants, toilets. The cost was shockingly reasonable, not much (if at all) more than it would have cost us to use public transportation, but without the headache of figuring out schedules and wasted time. Really, it was a perfect day.

Great Day Trip & Recommend it to Everyone 😊
We had such an amazing time, it was the first time we got to go and the day trip to the Yorkshire Dale’s and Whitby and other sights in between. Mark was an excellent guide and driver for the day and he was very knowledgeable too. We’ll definitely book again when we are back in the UK. We recommend this to everyone also.

North Yorkshire Moors and Steam Train trip
This trip is a full day (9.00am - 5.30pm) which was booked via Viator at £53 per person. This was a small group of 16 from across the globe. Driving through the Yorkshire moors stopping at a couple of lovely towns on route to Whitby and Mark our guide providing a fantastic commentary throughout the day with his knowledge of the AREA. At Whitby a must is Fish and Chips we headed to Trenchers were there can be a queue so would recommend lunch before sight seeing. In the afternoon we headed to the train station for our Steam train trip down the old Victoria line stopping at the station used in the first Harry Potter movie. Please note the train may not always be a steam and this can change at the last minute but does not take away from the trip itself. Final leg is a 80 min journey back to York

      Stunning!
Fantastic day trip! It was everything we hoped for. The scenery was stunning. Mark our tour guide was the kindest man ever and had fantastic knowledge. He kept us safe during a terrible storm and was able to reroute so we could see other sites that were safer at the time. Don’t hesitate to choose this tour

      Best Day Trip in Yorkshire!
Fabulous tour from start to finish. Pick up and drop off is right in front of the Cathedral, minibus is comfortable and provides great views. Mark was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who somehow memorizes everyone’s name with just one introduction. The scenery is the superb. We loved Whitby and the fish and chips at the Quayside Restaurant were a lovely treat. It was so good that we stayed an extra day in York to take the James Herriot Dales tour the following day with the same company and guide. Pro tip: sit on the right hand side of the bus on these trips, even though it’s single seats as this side has the best views.

Soak up the gorgeous Yorkshire scenery
This tour provides a comfortable and interesting way to see the beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales. The guide was very knowledgeable and there were a good number of stops with plenty of time allowed to explore. Highly recommended!

Brilliant day in the Yorkshire dale national park.
The tour guide was very well prepared and told us a lot of exiting stories and facts about Yorkshire Dale. There were a fair amount of stops on the way, and thus all participants had a good chance to get out and take some photos, walk around the small towns, and even had time to do some cheese tasting. The bus was clean, tidy and seats were comfortable, and everything worked well with the sound system (chauffeur used a microphone headset). Also he spoke very clearly and understandably English, which was a nice treat for foreigners like us. All put together this made a brilliant trip for the day.

      10+
Mark, our tour guide, has been taking trips from York for several years. I took my third trip with him, and was not disappointed as I wasn’t before. He is very knowledgeable and very clear in his directions and his expectations of his tourists, and he tries to make a personal connection with each one of us. I think he has a photographic memory in his recollection of the names of each one of us. I would rate him at 10+

This tour was well organized, comfortable, and enjoyable and the guide was informative, funny, personable, and thoughtful. We saw the advertised places as well as a few extra stops, not to mention the beautiful sights along the way. Without being over-talkative, the guide pointed out interesting things as we went that made the time go by faster. We had plenty of time for wandering at each stop and there were appropriate toilet breaks. For an 8 1/2 hour journey it didn’t seem long at all.

This day excursion may end up being the best trip I go on during my UK holiday. Our driver, Mark, was superb and kept us fully informed on everything as we drove through stunning scenery. The views were incredible. Makes me want to move to the Dales for the rest of my life.
Stops were tailored to show interesting towns, good “ local” shopping, and toilet breaks.
I’d urge you to go. A wonderful day out.

This is the first time we have been to Herriot Country and it didn't fail to deliver. Our first stop was the beautiful town of Masham followed by three stops for photo's on the way to Grassington. Unfortunately, just after we arrived at Grassington the heavens opened which spoiled things for a while and then she sun came out again. We then made our way to Linton Falls which were spectacular and you could easily spend hours there enjoying the peace and tranquility. Our final stop was Bolton Abbey and again just as we got there the heavens opened but we made the best out of a bad situation and thoroughly enjoyed our day. Would definitely recommend this trip, especially for lovers of the modern day "All Creatures Great and Small".

We have been on day trips with BOBH a number of times over the years and have been very lucky that our driver and guide has always been Mark. As ever, he is polite, friendly and very knowledgeable and is a credit to the company. Thank you Mark for always making us feel welcome and a bit part of the BOBH family.

We really enjoyed our tour of the Yorkshire Dales with Mark yesterday. We’ve taken a few tours on our trip to the UK and Mark was the best driver/guide. He clearly pointed out all the sites we wanted to see, gave us lots of time to take photos, and his commentary as we drove through the Dales kept us entertained and informed.

My daughter and I were really looking forward to this trip and it didn’t disappoint! We love Haworth but it was great to lean some really interesting historical facts from Mark, our driver and tour guide - he was was very knowledgeable, polite, friendly and nothing was too much trouble ! The trip is so well organised and a great way to see so many beautiful places in a relatively short space of time. We have done this trip before the Pandemic, were really impressed then so we knew it was a fabulous outing - but this time in addition to that, we were impressed by all the Covid safety measures in place. We are definitely going to book another trip in the near future - there are many to choose from!

I highly recommend this tour. I found this tour really incredibly good, it was totally fun. We not only visited the locations listed, but also saw a lot of Yorkshire itself. Our tour guide Chris was super friendly and helpful. He answered each of our questions and really told a lot of interesting things. He also stopped with us at various points while driving through the Yorkshire Dales to explain us a little more and so that we could also take pictures of the Yorkshire Dale's. I really felt very comfortable and I'm really glad I did this tour. Even though I traveled alone, I didn't feel alone during the tour. All other tour participants were also very nice and our tour guide was so friendly that you really felt comfortable. I would always like to repeat this tour. Thank you for my great day.

My husband and I stayed and extra day in York and signed up for this tour after taking the BOBH Whitby Tour - it was that good.

Mark was again our tour guide - he is fantastic, and we were thrilled that he was leading this trip. Once again, the mini bus was clean and comfortable, the facts were informative and interesting, and the scenery was spectacular.

Mark recommended the Corner House Cafe for food, especially highlighting the made from scratch soups. This was a great recommendation. I really don’t think you can go wrong with a tour from this company; we were wowed. Even with a little rain and wind, the tour was great.

We booked this trip because the 10 year old is very into James Herriot. Though not heavy on the actual Herriot apart from some biographical details, the route was beautiful, the stops were well chosen, and Mark the coach driver pointed out the most interesting sights and shared lots of information about the Yorkshire Dales. A very worthwhile day trip and good value for money.

A very enjoyable day with a small group of 5 to the Yorkshire Dales, Helmsley, Grassington and Masham.
The sun was shining which was such a bonus, as, at this time of the year it can be hit and miss. Always stops for a cuppa or snack and shopping and the right places to get the perfect photos and lunches.
Thankyou Mark for a wonderful day with your local knowledge and your passion explaining what York and further afield have to offer in the tour.
This shows through with your love of travel.
