- Journey126898100880 contributionsGreat day - worth every penceWe went on this tour Wednesday, October 30. Our driver was Mark, and he was very informative and patient and kind and made sure we had fun! Because we were a smaller van, Mark took us to a few places off the beaten track. He really did go above and beyond! The views were stunning and we all learned quite a bit about life in this national park. All stops were just enough time and the Wensleydale creamery is a must do - complimentary cheese tasting and a great lunch spot.Written 31 October 2024

- Janice B0 contributionsA day in the DalesWe were looking for an easy way to see the Yorkshire Dales after ten days of constant busyness. The views were incredible and received a lot of information abt the area, the history, the sheep, and birds. Poor weather would impact it, we luckily had a great day. If you are looking for a lot of walking, or a fast pace, this tour does not provide that.Written 14 October 2024
- Jay9b0 contributionsWonderful! Awe inspiring! InformativeChris was very knowledgeable, took us to several "off the beaten track" places for v breathtaking views and photo ops - also unique sights not even mentioned in the your description! Best tour ever!Written 12 October 2024

Another amazing and memorable trip finely managed by tour guide Mark. Mark from BOBHolidays started the day at 9 am and greeted all of us - the seven tourists who were joining the tour from USA, Canada, Singapore, and India. Travelling through the highlands while listening to Mark's wealth of knowledge, the first stop was at Byland Abbey. In the middle of no where the Byland Abbe is an absolutely stunning architecture which stands tall and reminds us of its extravagance where it was in full totality. Built in 1154 there is so much to absorb from this place. Wish Henry VIII has kept the Abbey intact for us to still enjoy the architectural brilliance. We also stopped at the beautiful town of Hemsley where we enjoyed the award winning Sausage roll from Hunters of Hemsley. Do not forget to stare at William Baron Feversham whose statue stands tall in the heart of Hemsley. We also enjoyed a cup of coffee at the Vinehouse Cafe which is a short walk by the church. You can also see their horses grazing or lazing in the stables. After Hemsley we took a few stops to enjoy the vast landscapes and learnt about the sheep flocks of the villagers. The contrasting stop of dried Heather plants, the vast highland landscapes, flowing into the mountains was breathtaking. I will come back to see the purple and lavendar views of the Heather plants. Our long stop was at Whitby - what an awesome introduction of Whitby and James Cook by Mark. He stopped in front of James Cook's statue which I was staring at in awe and thinking about so much he had achieved in his voyages in his short life of 50. From the James Cook statue we could also see the vast Whitby Abbe and the spiralling staircases in the horizon and the surrounding sea. Breathtaking views. Mark took us around the town and parked the BOB Holidays van and gave us nearly 2 hours to explore the city. We immersed into an awesome lunch at QUAYSIDE. Definitely try their Cod fish and chips and Griddled Sea Bass. We tried both and they were amazing. There are some other great restaurants around like Magpie Cafe and many other choices. Also good ice cream shops and tea rooms to sit back and enjoy. We took 99 steps to the Whitby Abbey. Also walked by the beach and into the pier to take some great photos. The sea gulls added to the beauty of the place. After spending an amazing 2 hours at Whitby we stopped at Goathland station and remembered Harry Potter. Also took some photos for memory. Mark drove back to York and shared more interesting stories on the way and ended the trip with some strong dinner recommendations. If you are in York, please book this trip with BOB Holidays and definitely recommend Mark.

Despite wet and blustery weather, our guide Mark ensured we had a thoroughly enjoyable day. He kept us well informed about the history and geology of the places we visited and gave us great recommendations for eateries and photo spots. The weather is changeable in Yorkshire, but as long as you bring a showerproof jacket and good footwear, you're bound to enjoy this tour.

It was brilliant from start to finish. The driver/tour guide was so friendly, happy and knowledgeable, he really did make the trip. Showed us everything he possibly could and told us all about it. Stopped off for photo opportunities and took us through scenic routes instead of staying on the main roads. I would advise anyone to go on it!

The description of the meet point was clear, easy to find. The driver, Mark, showed up early and welcomed us into a clean, warm van. He was knowledgeable and personable, sharing interesting details as we drove and on site, and he learned all our names and pointed out things that fit our personal interests throughout. The scenery was stunning. There was plenty of time to wander around and explore at our leisure. Mark gave us all the information we needed--where to find sites, restaurants, toilets. The cost was shockingly reasonable, not much (if at all) more than it would have cost us to use public transportation, but without the headache of figuring out schedules and wasted time. Really, it was a perfect day.

Fabulous day out. Mark kept us entertained throughout the trip with his incredible knowledge of the area. Nothing was too much trouble as he gave us plenty of photo opportunities across the North York Moors & in Whitby itself. We took in some incredible views & scenery & learned lots about the key characters & places on our itinerary.

What a great trip from start to finish! The driver and guide for the day (Andrew) was professional and very welcoming. Andrew was very knowledgeable of the area and its history and delivered the information with additional interesting facts and with humour. Both the Vale of York and the Moors offer their own natural beauty and we were lucky to have the weather on our side that day too! Whitby did not disappoint as always. We had plenty of time for fish n chips as recommended by our guide and enjoyed people watching. Many wearing amazing outfits as it was The Goth weekend!

What a great day with Mark as our driver and guide. Informative and well paced with a morning and afternoon stop to enjoy local villages (& their baked goods). A longer stop in Whitby which was enough to stroll past the Abbey and through the main shopping laneways plus lunch at the Magpie. Unfortunately we had a pea-soup fog so missed the views. I took the optional extra of a Steam Train trip which was really enough to enjoy the ride while being value for money (compared to similar but pricier tours that seem to price the whole train trip in). Mark was so kind and solicitous of our well being. Thoroughly enjoyed.

I was the only guest on this tour on a rainy Saturday in early March. Any other tour company would've cancelled, and I wouldn't have blamed them. Instead, my guide arrived on time, with a great attitude, and showed flexibility. He was informative, genuine and kind, and never made me feel odd for being the only traveler. The itinerary was perfect, I learned so much about the beautiful towns and villages and the moors. 10/10 would go again!

Me and my son took this trip with Mountain Goat Tours on August 30th. Our driver was John and I think we got so lucky. John made the trip with his humour and facts that he delivered throughout the day. I wish I had recorded all the history he relayed, so knowledgeable. We had the best weather too with sunshine and blue skies. The Mercedes passenger van was v comfortable even when going over the more bumpy trails. Highlights included the Moors and Whitby Bay and thanks to the recommendation from John we ate our fish and chips at the Magpie Cafe, award winning. Lovely! Highly recommended trio and hope you get John as your guide!
