    Interesting knowledge
An exceptional travel experience! Kevin is not your typical tour guide; he's an enthusiast of English and Celtic cultures with an extensive knowledge base. He answered all our questions effortlessly and even provided additional insights. We had the half-day tour, which was divided into two parts. The first part was near the quarry and Barracks 42, where the Hadrian's Wall is relatively well-preserved. The second part was at the Vindolanda site, including visits to both the ruins and the museum. Kevin was familiar with nearly every exhibit in the museum, offering deep background knowledge. I highly recommend this private tour for families with elderly or children. The pace is just right—not too tiring, yet full of surprises."

    Hadrian's Wall comes alive!
Fabulous walking tour with Kevin. It was so much more than we were expecting. It was great to learn so much about the wall and the history around that time.

What a wonderful guide to an informative and captivating day! He was attentive and sensitive to the needs of the group as well as having the tour planned and prepared. His knowledge was huge and he made it come alive. I learned so much and enjoyed the walks as well as the history!

A must for visitors to Northumberland
Excellent guide, informative and interesting. A chance to get out on the wall, but pretty easy walking. Made the visit to Vindolanda come alive. Great for lovers of history, but accessible for visitors of all interests.

    A tour to remember.
This was a fascinating tour. We learnt about the Ramans in Britain and how they interacted with the local population. Walking along the wall gave a real insight into the huge effort that went into building the wall and the trenches to keep people in and out of the territory. We also spent time at Vindolanda and could see the lifestyle of the people both Roman and natives. It was a really interesting tour.

    Amazing Experience
We took a half-day guided tour with Kevin as our guide. The tour and Kevin's knowledge exceeded all expectations. The walk along Hadrian's Wall is brief but informative and the time at Vindolanda was great - I was completely unaware these types of ruins existed and was in awe the entire time. We had rain on our tour so ending at the museum was timed well. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in Hadrian's Wall and don't know where to start!

    Excellent!
We live locally and have visited Hadrian’s wall many times and thought we knew a lot of the history and geography. Were given this tour as birthday gift. Our guide Kevin was superb, so knowledgeable on Roman and old British history, military and political issues of those times, every day life. Highly recommended.

    Hadrian's Wall Guided Tour
Last week we went on a half day guided tour of Hadrian’s Wall. We were met by a man dressed as a roman soldier with a sword and shield by his side, this was Kevin our guide. His depth and wealth of knowledge is exceptional. His delivery of facts with context extraordinary, succinct and very articulate. We were enthralled by his storytelling. You will learn more about this part in history than ever before. There is no greater authority on the subject. If you are planning on going to see the wall then you must book this tour. You wont be disappointed, I guarantee.

    Insightful and entertaining. Highly recommended
This tour achieved the perfect balance between informative and entertaining with an incredibly knowledgeable tour guide and a fascinating subject in scenic Northumberland. Kevin offered in depth information during the tour and was able to answer every question with insight and breadth. Overall one of the best history tours we’ve taken. Highly recommended!

Friendly and knowledgeable guide, leisurely stroll
Very picturesque location for a great delve into history, and not just roman. Kevin can elaborate on many interesting details from the daily life of people on and around the wall, to the military intricacies of such a vast frontier. The tour works great for both history nerds and people who are just a bit curious, without any knowledge requirements. The are amazing views around the spot, and the tour gives you the time to soak them in between the informative discussions. Even better, this is not a heavy walking tour, but a nice stroll along a part of the wall. Would recommend it to anyone!

I was so pleased to receive a voucher as a present and take the opportunity to spend such a great day this way. I live locally and have been visiting these sites for 40+ years, but my knowledge and insight has certainly expanded after the guide with Kevin today. The 4 hour guide is so worth it, and the highlight is certainly visiting Vindolanda and gaining such an extensive understanding of life on the Hadrian Wall frontier through Kevin's insight and knowledge. It's one of the best museums and sites about the Roman Occupation in England and Kevin's explanations make it 'come alive'. The start at Cawfields, one of my favourite picnic spots, 'sets the scene' and gives an overview of Hadrian's Wall, and it's significance. Opportunities for some great views too!
Going by myself, with some local knowledge to places I know well, I beforehand wondered how cheesy this might be, but it's absolutely NOT! What I came away with is an admiration for my heritage, my continued love of Northumberland and Tynedale, deep appreciation for Kevin's insight and a day (one of my favourites this year so far) well spent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our guided walk with Kevin who provided us with lots of information, but it never felt like a lecture, more like a conversation. The Vindolanda Museum was impressive and made all the better for Kevin pointing out the most fascinating finds. It was also interesting to see conservation in action at this site. Kevin brought alive the stories of Roman Britain and even got into character to make it an unforgettable day.

The tour was great. Our tour guide (didn't get his name) was so knowledgeable and attentive. My friend has dementia and he was very accepting of her non-sequetors. We had to leave half way through but I would definitely recommend this for people who want to learn a lot in a short space of time.

Excellent guided tour. Kevin is well informed, enthusiastic and approachable. Plenty of time to ask questions. Weather can be dodgy (cold & wet) in that part of the world so dress appropriately. Then you will enjoy every minute.

Kevin is a great guide. My wife & I have visited Northumberland & Hadrian’s Wall off and on for 20 years, he’s not only the most informed & informative guide but also personable and easy to engage. His knowledge and understanding of British Roman history is deep and nuanced, and he was great at fielding our American questions. I have no reservations recommending him to someone visiting Northumberland for the first time or for the 15th.

We had a fantastic whole day tour featuring the Hadrian’s Wall with Kevin. He was very friendly and we were impressed by his knowledge in Hadrian’s Wall and relevant history. The costume he wore on the day showing how British people looked like in the ancient Roman time was also very informative and made the whole experience even more interesting. We would happily recommend Kevin’s tour to anyone who is interested.

A great day! After an introductory talk, Kevin took us along stretches of the Wall, explaining the history, geography and politics of the time as we went, and then took us round the forts and surroundings of Vindulanda and Housesteads, again bringing the place to life with his knowledge and explanations. Excellent value for money.
