Despite it being a chilly grey day Lesley made it an enjoyable tour with plenty of interesting tales and facts about the beautiful city of Oxford. It was great to hear some of the history behind the buildings and places with enough humour to stop it being too dry or a list of dates and names. Thank you LesleyWritten 3 November 2024

- MairyRuth0 contributionsExcellent package but check walking tour times and if you are happy to climb the tower's steep and narrow spiral stairsExcellent way to discover Oxford and thoroughly recommended. You are issued with earphones with your ticket to listen to the audio tour on the bus which worked really well. The content was interesting and wide-ranging and you get a leaflet with a clear map so you can decide where to get on/off. The walking tour of the central area was excellent with a knowledgeable guide (Pete) who tailored elements to suit people's interests, but make sure you check the times - we almost missed it as the last one departed at 2.30pm (it would be helpful if they advised you of the times on booking). The views from the top of Carfax Tower are fantastic but the staircase to the top is very narrow and spiral - one of our group decided not to attempt it. If you're not sure, I'd advise a quick look at the staircase before buying the tout ticket that includes the tower tour.Written 13 October 2024

Very good and fun tour through the city in semi-open double decker. With a 24/48 hour ticket also a convenient and fast means of transport to get through Oxford. The bus goes to places where you cannot or should not go by car.
Some buses have a live guide on the bus, which is 10x more fun than a hand. Check when someone is riding. Even then, you can put on headphones (English only). Compliments of Martin taking you through Oxford with lots of facts about who-where-what-lecture went to.
Round trip is an hour. Due to many road diversions it takes longer (summer 2024). And sometimes you wait a long time. With a live guide that time is full 😂...
If you come by car, choose a P+R from the municipality (check website Oxford) and buy the same bus ticket to the city centre with a parking ticket. You stop at Randolph hotel/Ashmolean and the sightseeing bus point 20 also stops there, or walk around the corner to boarding point 15 (opposite Sheldonian Theatre).
Please note:
1. student card for discount (all programmes not only university).
2 no English audio! But English is easy to follow.
3. You can buy tickets on the bus, but at some points there is a sales point (stall). Price is the same everywhere. You can use an ATM.
4. Ticket is printed with barcode.
5. In sun you are baking at the top / back, there are about 14 places covered at the top. No air conditioning downstairs.

Wow, thank you so much for your incredibly detailed and thoughtful feedback about your experience with our City Sightseeing Oxford Bus Tours! Your comments are incredibly valuable in helping us enhance the experience for other visitors and future tourists. The bus tour ticket is designed to be super convenient, allowing you to hop on and off while exploring the many amazing sights of Oxford. While we always aim to stick to our bus timetable, as you rightly pointed out, summer traffic can sometimes throw a wrench in our plans, but we promise we're doing our best! We're thrilled that Martin made your visit special and kept you entertained while you waited for the bus. Our tour buses come with recorded commentary in 14 languages, and I'll be sure to pass on your feedback about the Dutch language. Our live guides are fluent in English. Thanks a million once again, and I hope the rest of your day is absolutely fantastic!

The ticket seller in the rail station parking lot was so helpful with directions and walking information, we decided to sign-up for the bus tour. We were not disappointed. After a week walking around London, it was nice to do our sightseeing from the comfort of a padded bus seat. The stops are clearly marked and we had no difficulties locating them. The drivers were all friendly and helpful.
We toured the Oxford grounds with Penny, a wonderful guide who was very knowledgeable of the campus history. Penny answered all of our silly American questions and was a friendly, pleasant person to tour with. Overall, an excellent experience!

It’s great to know that our ticket seller at the rail station provided helpful directions and information that led you to join the tour. We chose a 2 day senior pass and on day 1 we stayed on the bus twice to get a feel for Oxford and the guide upstairs gave a great commentary. Then we got off for a walk and a meal before heading back on to go to bus stop 17 for the walk back to the hotel.
All the staff we met were exceptional and accomodating unlike some places we have visited in the past and abroad with this company. The 2nd day we did not use it so much as we knew where to go/see from street level. Luckily that day was sunny but still cold. We used it again in the afternoon to go see the Natural History museum (stop 16) before getting on again to go to stop 17 and back to the hotel. A 2 day pass is only £2 extra and well worth the money. We did not have the time to join the free walking tour and we will do that the next time we visit Oxford

Took the 48hr bus tour which was great with 20 stops. The 45 min walking tour included was especially good. Our guide was "Policeman Pete" who was very knowledgeable and amusing with his delivery too. Walking around the back streets you see so much more history and I would thoroughly recommend everyone to include this part of the tour.

Thank you for the fantastic 5-star review! We're thrilled to hear that Policeman Pete's entertaining and pleasant commentary made your experience enjoyable. Our walking tour is specifically designed to complement the bus tour by taking you through the narrow streets of Oxford City that the bus tour can't reach. Pete is an outstanding guide, and we're glad you had the chance to join his tour.
We look forward to welcoming you to Oxford again in the future.

The hop on hop off bus tour is very convenient and a great way to see a lot of the city, especially as you can get a better idea of where you may like to go and visit. Our guide Greg was great, and gave a lot of interesting information about some of the sights and buildings. It is quite pricey, however, if you make use of the hop on hop off facility for the whole day or more, it makes it more worthwhile.

I booked online on the official Oxford tourism site and this was an easy process. I also sent an email for gain further information about the tour and relevant information came back to me promptly.
I did the bus tour in the morning and a separate college walking tour in the afternoon. The bus tour gave a good overview of the city and its history as well as pointing out the different colleges. The earphones given gave a clear guide and information throughout this tour and is available in different languages. You can hop on and off all day. As it was very hot when we visited being on the open top deck was lovely. I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend to visitors of all ages accompanied by an adult.

I am glad we were able to provide information to you when you emailed in, and it is lovely to hear you enjoyed the accompanying walking tour included with your ticket. I agree on hot days it is lovely to sit on the top-deck and get a lovely breeze when the tour bus moves.

Very poor experience. We booked tickets online, but there was confusion from the driver who then told us to go speak to the man on the pavement to get tickets. The audio on the headsets only played through one ear and the max volume is so low it can barely be heard. The stops numbers are not announced by the driver/guide/audio so it can be confusing which stop you are at. The bus would stop for over 10 mins at a time for the driver to generate tickets or take payments for people just getting on - very frustrating - this should only be done at the train station and not hold up an entire bus of people waiting to get to a specific stop.
The normal bus charge from High Street to the train station was £0.10, which is what we will be using on our next visit. Very disappointed at having spent £34 for such a poor experience.

We would highly recommend this tour. We got a 48 hour ticket, we did the first tour with the recorded audio and the second day we did the tour with the live guide. She was amazing! We also hopped on and off the bus to get around Oxford with ease. All the drivers were so helpful and friendly, they are a credit to the organisation.

It was a miserable day when we boarded the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour of Oxford and were joined by Poet Andrew on the upper deck. Andrew is one of life’s eccentrics but in the best possible way. He was full of information about the colleges we passed and had lots of amusing poems about their alumni. He made our visit to Oxford, a city we’d visited many times before, memorable in a way we hadn’t expected when we boarded the bus. The guide who replaced Andrew, although not eccentric nor a poet, did suggest that we visit New College if we were time limited. What a find! The Chapel alone was worth the entrance fee!

Thank you for sharing your experience on the City Sightseeing Oxford bus tour. We’re thrilled to hear that Poet Andrew made your day so memorable, even on a gloomy day. His unique style and wealth of knowledge, combined with his entertaining poetry, truly make him one of a kind. We're glad that he was able to enhance your visit to Oxford in such a special way.
We’re also pleased that the recommendation to visit New College turned out to be a highlight of your trip. The Chapel is indeed a hidden gem, and we’re delighted you enjoyed it.
Your feedback is invaluable, and we’ll make sure to pass on your kind words to Andrew and his Manager. We hope to welcome you back on another tour in the future.

As advertised on their leaflets we went to buy a ticket at the park and ride as part of our travel into the city. The bus driver was quite rude and couldn’t work out how to give us student fares we ended up paying full price as to not hold up the bus any longer. Maybe some more information is needed here. The leaflets also say there is a live guide but we’re disappointed to find it was a prerecorded audio guide. I always find these to only tell you a wee bit of a story and found myself googling quite a bit.
The buses were regular and great to see the city.
I highly recommend the walking tour that is included in your ticket; It was only us on the tour and Graeme our tour guide was great at showing us the bits that the bus can’t go to.
