- janamS7604KL0 contributionsGreat Experience touring part of Oxford UniversityWe loved hearing about the history of Oxford University from an actual student who attended. Our guide was very informative and answered any questions our group had. My whole group quite enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend. I did this tour with my family and I carried my toddler on my back with a carrier. Considering some of the path you take is cobblestone, it is not a difficult walk, but I would not advise using a stroller if you are bringing a small child. There are sidewalks, but it was just much easier to carry the toddler.Written 18 March 2025
- dawnwC5164WO0 contributionsAn informative and humorous tour of OxfordHolly was a fantastic guide. She mixed facts about the history of Oxford with humorous anecdotes about the quirky traditions of the different colleges. Getting to see inside one of the colleges was great and the Divinity School (as seen in Harry Potter) was very interesting. All the entry tickets were included in the price which was an added bonus.Written 18 March 2025
- 563nataszam0 contributionsOxford TourI've had a truly wonderful afternoon and gained a lot of insights from an extremely knowledgable and eloquent guide (I can't recall his name, but he's an Exeter College second year history student). I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone!Written 18 March 2025

- Vacation3806010 contributionsWonderful way to see University of OxfordDay trip to Oxford with our kids 16 & 18 to visit the oldest University in the UK. Our guide Savannah was amazing with her knowledge of the history of the uni, info on the various colleges and kept us entertained for the tour. We were also able to see University College to get a sense of what the public spaces looked like (dining hall and chapel). We had a wonderful time and highly recommend the tour!Written 17 March 2025

- 34sandraw0 contributionsInteresting and informativeInteresting and informative. Our guide could have engaged with the group better. She was friendly enough but avoided eye contact and had a habit of peppering every sentence with 'um' which was a little distracting. However it was very well organized and we would recommend.Written 16 March 2025
- howardr9840 contributionsGreat way to learn a lot about OxfordMy daughter and I took the tour together. Our guide, Ollie, was entertaining and knowledgeable. You spend most of the time outside the sights being told about what is inside which is a bit disappointing but overall the tour is a good length and very informative.Written 16 March 2025
- Jojo W0 contributionsA marvellous, two hour turn about Oxford.Hands down one of the best ways to get to know Oxford! Ollie, our alum guide, was very jovial for a Sunday morning. I highly suggest this a a must do experience for your visit, well worth the cost.Written 16 March 2025

Great tour around the colleges of Oxford with Mary. She was vivacious, highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history and scandal's of Oxford. I was part of a group of 20 people from all over Europe and Mary kept everyone entertained and captivated for the whole 2 hours. High recommended!

There is a reason these tours have a 5-star average with over 8000 reviews. We toured Oxford with Max. Loved it! This was the 2-hour tour. Max was knowledgeable and responsive to our questions. One of the longer tours would have been even better.

This tour was an excellent way to see the city centre and to get an overview of the main university colleges and their history. Tim, our guide, was fantastic. Knowledgeable and super entertaining, he managed to keep us well distracted from the freezing weather with his enthusiastic delivery. Highly recommend this tour and our guide, Tim.

We booked this tour at the last minute as we were only in Oxford for one night. We definitely struck lucky and would not have managed to learn as much without this tour. We were ‘assigned’ to Trevor and from the moment we started we knew we would be in for a treat. Trevor was very warm and engaging, he was extremely knowledgable and certainly helped to bring some of the stories to life. He was clearly passionate about the city and was open to questions. Whilst the current covid restrictions meant that the usual tour had to be amended as we were unable to actually enter into any of the colleges, it meant that we got to see and hear more about other amazing university buildings around the city.

Very informative tour of several colleges with Jack which was a fantastic guide and provided lots of insights into university life in Oxford. He was also very engaging and entertaining for the full 2 hours which made for a fun walking tour despite the Covid restrictions in entering buildings. He covered the history of Tolkein and CS Lewis' time at the university, some of the key buildings and colleges as well as some stories of the Harry Potter filming that took place there.

We did a 3-hour private walking tour with Daniel. Our group included 5 teenagers aged 12-17 and we all thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Daniel is very knowledgeable and was also able to share with us his first hand experience of studying at Oxford University. We visited the inside of a beautiful college, Divinity School and walked by many other significant buildings, libraries and colleges. We could not have wished for a better guide. We followed the tour by punting - a great day in Oxford!

We had rotten weather for our tour of Oxford but it was still absolutely fantastic. Our guide Michael had tremendous knowledge of the city and all the colleges, his enthusiasm and sense of humour helped to make a dull day so much brighter. It really was a wonderful insight into the amazing history of Oxford. We would highly recommended this tour for anyone visiting this historic city.

Kira was absolutely brilliant- very personable and knowledgeable. Her enthusiasm brought the history of the university and its many famous students to life. She didn’t talk down to us and was happy to answer any questions we had. The tour itself was a great overview of some the main buildings- which was useful if you had limited time in Oxford or wanted to see which parts of the university you may want to revisit later.

Is it possible to meet us at our hotel in the centre of Oxford to begin the tour?
Written 26 June 2019
As far as I know, you must meet the guide at their place of business. The tour begins immediately from that location and they have a set route and a limited amount of time, so I doubt it can be varied. However, best to contact the Private Oxford Walking Tour staff to see if meeting at your hotel is an option.

I am interested in a quote for Wednesday, Sept 12, 2018, walking tour for four that would include city and campus, Bodleian library, divinity school, Christ church college & evensong, city Ashmolean museum. While in town we are also interested in punting, pubs: The Eagle & child; The Bear or the White Rabbit. maybe all these would not be on the tour but could be offered as a suggested itinerary. Thank you for your suggestions on how to manage our day in Oxford.
Written 7 August 2018
Can we have the private tour at a different time like 4 pm instead ?
Written 2 August 2018
They were flexible about tour durations so since it is a private tour, I would recommend asking them if you could start at 4pm.
