- CVKnowles0 contributionsPerfect way to keep teens and tweens entertained!A fantastic couple of hours in Oxford. Perfect for teens and tweens because they get to lead the team solving the clues, and an ideal way to explore the hidden treasures of Oxford! Definitely recommend.Written 30 April 2023
- Lardo19750 contributionsWell designed and great funThe treasure hunt was very well designed and offered opportunities to see parts of the city that we might not have found by ourselves. It’s great to run through it at your own pace and take breaks as a when needed. Also offered up some very interesting bits of history as you are going around as well. Would recommend anyone to give this a go.Written 18 October 2020
- catherinewJ3361AR0 contributionsGreat addition to a day outI would definitely rate the tour a 5 I really enjoyed it as it was a fun way to explore Cambridge especially in the time of corona. The clues were a little challenging but a lot of fun to solve and it was a great addition to the day out.Written 27 August 2020
- jof7240 contributionsGet to know Oxford the fun way!One of the best things was that you could go at your own pace and stop for a pint as you went if you felt like it or found an interesting pub (of which there are many). Really great to see some of the quieter less known parts of the city as well as the famous ones. The clues were unusual and not too easy and you could find out more if you wanted to. I loved the map at the end which took you through the route with pictures to remind you.Written 27 July 2020

Our family (2 adults, 2 kids 7 & 9) thoroughly enjoyed the treasure hunt and had a great time exploring the city.
We could all get involved as the clues and their answers were targeted at all ages. We enjoyed talking them through and hunting for the answers. It took us 2hrs 15mins, we didn't stop at the pub, or climb the spires, but did stop for milkshakes :)
£20 seemed appropriate to keep 4 of us entered for the afternoon.

We carried out the treasure hunt in Oxford after doing the same tour with the same company in Cambridge.
Its a fun way to explore the city with some tricky clues and added history information provided.
I would highly recommend the experience as its very intuitive to follow the clues in a WhatsApp type interface.

If you are thinking on booking this experience, don't think it more and do it. This treasure hunt was super fun to do. It will show you the city and will give you fun facts (in a really fun way), all while you play as a pirate.
The riddles are not too hard and if you can't get one, just ask for a hint and the Captain will help out a little (watch out if you give the wrong answer... you might end up walking the plank ;) )
You can do check-in whenever you like as long as it is near the date you chose and you can go around solving the riddles at your own pace so you can literally spend all day or a couple of hours. Still I would advise you to plan at least 4 or 5 hours so you can walk slow and even drink some beer.
In terms of time we took a train from London at 9:21 and got to Oxford at 10:13. From 10:13 am to 16:41 (4:41 pm) we did this treasure hunt with a slow pace, taking pictures and visiting the church tower (which you can opt to visit too although you'll have to pay the entry which is not included but also not necessary as there are no clues or riddles up there. Just a beautiful sight).
During this time we also drank and ate at Oxford oldest tabern. However I'll let you discover the menu and location through this treasure hunt.
A pro tip I can give you is to have an umbrella with you in case of rain. We decided to buy one at the start in the Castle gift shop because it started to to drizzle. A little overpriced umbrella but that is another review.
Best of luck!!!!

Anto - I'm so glad you you had such fun exploring Oxford! You played it exactly how we intended it: taking your time and popping in to some of the sights along the way. There's so much to take in, in Oxford!
There's only 2 of us, we don't have a marketing team, so your review is really important. Thank you!

The treasure hunt tour around Oxford was great fun! A very unique way to explore the city and it allowed you to spend as little or as much time on the tour as you wished. The facts and riddles you received throughout the tour were really interesting and fun to solve. Although I've lived in Oxford for a while, the treasure hunt clues encouraged me to look at things more closely and discover details I otherwise wouldn't have noticed. I really recommend this to anyone wanting to try something fun and a little different!

This was such a great activity for my friends hen party. I wanted a second activity for the day that wasn’t too expensive but was really good fun. The hen loved puzzle games but I didn’t want us all to be stuck inside doing an escape room and this was a perfect alternative. It’s a great way to see the city with lots of fun puzzles to unlock and some great opportunities to sample the pubs on the way round. The organisers were exceptionally helpful and it’s really good value for money. There was a large group of us and we split into teams which made it all the more fun as it added a competitive edge. Would throughly recommend this activity for anyone. There is lots of walking involved so wear comfy shoes but you have as much time to complete it as you want.

We did this as part of a work away day. Great way to get round and see the city, including learning some cool facts along the way. Good value for money too, and very flexible - you can start / stop when you want, call into a pub / cafe on the way etc.

Ollie - I'm delighted you and the company had a good away day on Treasure Hunt Oxford :)
Maybe the company will fancy another go at some point? We're in other cities across the UK :)
I really appreciate you writing a review, it's so important for small independent businesses like us.

Great way of getting round town, seeing & finding out about interesting sights which you would not necessarily come across on your own.
Negative was the price, the app won’t allow single participants so you have to pay £20 for two. As a couple we only needed one phone access and at £10 per person i’d say the price is a little high. Single participants should be allowed or reduce the price. (I’d say most couples doing this only need one phone/device to follow the trail)

A great way to see Oxford, at your own pace. Even having lived in Oxford for 2 years, we still learnt new things, and saw things we wouldn't have otherwise. The text chat format of displaying new clues and instructions was very slick and well done, and the information provided was useful and interesting. We particularly enjoyed the frequent 'type CONTINUE to carry on' breaks, which gave us time to look around without feeling rushed. Several good pubs feature on the walk, so you'll be spoiled for choice if you decide to stop. We're two fairly fast walkers, and it took us just over an hour and a half to complete the tour. The log at the end containing all your stops and a summary was also a welcome surprise.
A very good way to spend an afternoon.

We did the game around mid afternoon and it took just under 2.5 hrs. That was with us stopping for a pint (or three).
It’s a great excuse to see some brilliant old pubs, and tour the city on your own whilst finding some great buildings and knowledge.
I would absolutely recommend for any type of visitor.
A great value activity!

It was a really great couple of hours. The hunt took us all around the beautiful city of Oxford, with little historical facts thrown in for good measure. As a family of 5 with kids ranging from 16 to 22 it was just perfect. Especially as we split into 2 teams ... Great fun.

Yes, it’s just a phone game really so you can book it and start straight away. They can’t sell out so will always be available.

If doing this as a group does everyone need to book? I thought we could split into pairs of threes how would this best be done? Also where does this finish so I know where to book lunch after, thanks 😁
Written 20 June 2021
Minimum is 2 ppl..
If you want to do it as different groups I would suggest separate booking. As the booking has access to the same info so will be able to see which clues you have found etc..
So if you did as separate bookings you would be in different teams.
Would recommend booking lunch at one of the restaurants on top of the shopping centre.
Finished near st ebbed street.
