      Well organised & worth it.
Well organised. Very nice & helpful tour guide Kevin. Loved the experience specially the commentaries my Maddie. Suggestion: Could have avoided Tetbury as we just stayed there for 40 mins which is insufficient to do anything. Stow on the wold was again boring, would have spent more time in Burton on the water and used it to have lunch their and just stroll around.

Perfect tour to sample the Cotswolds in one day
This is a perfect way to see the beauty of the Cotswolds in one day. Kevin was our driver and tour guide and was knowledgeable and engaging. Mad Max Tours also worked with us after we had to cancel during the pandemic made every effort to accommodate us. If you are looking for a company to do tours, Mad Max was top notch for us.

A must if you are in Bath without a car and want to see Stonehenge
This tour exceeded my expectations. Richard, the tour guide, was exceptional: knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and helpful. I was on the tour to Stonehenge, Avery stone circle, and a couple of Cotswold villages. It could not have been more convenient. Why anyone would want to drive rather than sit in the modern, air conditioned mini-bus is beyond me. It's a comprehensive tour: leaves Bath at 8:30 and returns at 17:30. Plenty of time to eat breakfast at the Stonehenge Visitor Center and lunch at Lacock. A real plus is that the tour arrives just as Stonehenge opens, so you beat the massive hordes that arrive by bus . It makes a huge difference and lets you have a less crowded experience. Avery Stone Circle is just as impressive as Stonehenge and more intimate. Leave your car in the parking lot if you have one and take this tour instead. You will be so glad you did!

      Beautiful Places
This was our second tour with MadMax in a week. We were MOST fortunate to have Gerry as our driver-guide for this trip. We found him equally enthusiastic and knowledgeable at the end of the week as at the beginning. His driving skills are superb. We arrived at Castle Coombe early and first. It was delightful to experience it tourist free! We totally enjoyed the tour but felt there was too much to see in one day. Not Gerry's fault at all as he stuck to the schedule. We did have a detour that ate up about 20 minutes, which is likely the reason we only had 20 minutes in Tetbury! We would have liked less time in Bourton-on-Water and more in Stow on the Wold and Malmesbury. Stow was our lunch stop. We were lucky, and quickly got into The Old Bakery Tea Room, having done research at home in preparation. The owners very nicely accommodated us prior to another table when we explained we were on a tour and had a bus to catch. Even so, we had no time to do anything else. The time in Castle Coombe and at Arlington Row were perfect. We would highly recommend Mad Max tours based on our two experiences.....and suggest you request Gerry, if available!!!! No driving required
I have always wanted to visit the Cotswolds but being from the US I was nervous about driving. This tour eliminated that problem and made for a completely enjoyable day. Richard was knowledgeable and it was a joy to spend the day touring with him. I appreciated with each stop he would make sure that facilities were easily accessible. If you want to visit the area and don’t want to drive I highly recommend this day long tour.

      Experiencing A National Treasure
We were happily introduced to the part of England I had most dreamed of visiting on this intimate and informative afternoon tour. We explored as many as five different villages with opportunities to stop into churches, shops, and even a local pub to enjoy a delicious lunch! Our genial guide Gerry delightfully conveyed history, stories, and lore from each place and was incredibly patient with the occasional redirect due to unexpected tree-trimming crews who were out and about—highly recommended as the best way to visit this stunning part of the country!

      Great Cotswold Experience
We booked this tour to the Cotswolds as part of our visit to Bath. It was tremendous. Gave us a feeling of the Cotswold villages in a day without the need to drive. Very special thanks to Kevin who provided great narration and a wonderful driving experience even with the road closures. Joanne & Richard (Canada)

      A wonderful experience
My day touring the Cotswolds with Daniel as my driver/guide was wonderful. Daniel is a very good driver which added to my comfort on those narrow roads but more than that he was great at pointing out interesting sites and beautiful views. I would definitely recommend Celtic Horizon tours and Daniel as your driver/guide!!!

      Great Cotswolds experience!
Jerry was a great tour guide, and we had a wonderful time. We’d never been on a bus tour before and didn’t know what to expect but we loved it. We saw soooooo much and a few little extras that were so worth it! You need to do this!

Perfect day in the English Countryside
We rarely go on tours, but I really wanted to see the Cotswolds. Given all the great reviews, we decided to give this a try. We are are so glad we did! The Cotswold region is spectacularly beautiful. Definitely a must see if you are in this area of England. Richard our driver/tour guide was fantastic — friendly, knowledgeable & professional. He provided the perfect balance of guidance and information with good humor and a relaxed attitude. Considering all the towns we saw, we thought the tour was an excellent value and the perfect way to start our trip.

      5 Stars for Andy!
Andy was our driver and guide. The vehicle was super comfortable for a small group of 14. The places we visited were ideal and quaint. Andy was very personable and was attentive enough to remember his customers' names. Truly a nice touch! He was even kind enough to take a few people to the train station after the tour. I would highly recommend this not just for the guide, but as an easy way to see some of the spectacular little villages outside of Bath.

A day of exploring quintessential English villages.
An extremely well organised and enjoyable day. The mini van was the perfect way of travelling through the Cotswolds and stopping at many of the lovely towns/villages. Gerry was friendly and very knowledgeable, providing interesting commentary that was complimented by the pre-recorded information.

      Scenic day in the Cotswolds
This is a great tour from Bath. Our tour guide, Andy, was very knowledgeable of the area of Bath and the Cotswolds. He provided great and interesting information throughout the day. The tour covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time and the beauty of the small Cotswolds villages is breathtaking. Great way to spend a day!

This was hands down the best tour I have joined in my life. Before we booked this tour we looked at other tours going to Stonenhenge and we quickly discovered that this particular tour was probably going to be the most bang for our buck. And we were absolutely right. First we arrived at Stonehenge very early. This was fantastic because we got there before the massive crowd that came after we left. After this we went to the Avesbury stones which were equally stunning. Next we went to Lacock village and we finished the tour at Castle Comb. Both of these villages were absolutely stunning as they appeared to be stuck in time. Our tour guide, Andy, was incredibly knowledegable about all of the sights. Along the way he also explained a lot about the sights which we were passing by such as Sillsbury hill and a beautiful white horse carved on a mountain side. So not only did we receive a lot of historical and cultural information about our destinations, but along the way we also learned a lot of fascinating details about the countryside. Andy was professional, passionate, and showed interest in his tour guests as he made sure to have a small chat with each and every one of them. Another great point about this tour is that the size of the tour groups was nicely contained, around 10-15 people. We had plenty of time to roam freely through each of the destinations. My partner and I visited a pub in both Lacock and near the Avesbury stones and we still had plenty of time to discover the sights. We got lucky with the weather as it was a beautiful summers day which made the tour even better! All in all, I highly recommend this tour. I could not have asked for more and there is not a single negative I could mention. Great job guys!

My wife and I had a great day on this tour. Our guide, Richard, was very entertaining and knowledgeable. We got to Stonehenge right before they opened and the tour handled purchasing the entry and we just reimbursed them when leaving. The timing was perfect and we were able to see the henge without many people there, by the time we left, an hour later, there were about 30 buses in the lot and tonnes of people. We stopped at Avebury and walked around the city and explored the small town, then headed for Lacock for lunch and short optional walking tour with Richard. He identified many shooting locations for Pride & Prejudice and Downton Abbey, and was very knowledgeable since he grew up close to the town. We also stopped at Castle Combe (no actual castle), a quaint little lovely town for a short walk and to grab a pint!

The Stonehenge/Avebury/Cotswold Villages Tour with Tim was the best tour I've ever experienced. This tour has 4 stops with plentiful time to walk around, so the travel is nicely broken up without sitting too long. Tim is an exceptional person who truly enjoys creating an exceptional experience for his guests. He frequently checked in with the group, asking us how we were doing. His openness to questions created great dialogue with the group. In spite of a rainy day and a detour, he managed to cheerfully fit everything in. He gave us an informative guided tour in the two Cotswold villages we stopped in with additional free time to walk around. His warm and friendly makes you feel immediately comfortable, right at home, as if you are with an old friend you have known forever. He went out of his way to point out and provide background on interesting things during the drive, like a red kite flying over the fields, a town's medieval lockup, and multiple white horse hill figures. The tour was well worth the money and a highlight of my husband's and my trip to Europe. Book directly with Mad Max for the best prices.

We were on Mad Max Tours' trip to Stonehenge, Avebury, Lacock and Castle Combe on Friday 21st July and enjoyed the day trip to the fullest.

We mainly chose the trip as we had never visited Cotswolds and Avebury before but enjoyed the stop at Stonehenge too.

We were very happy with the information provided in advance as regards the time spent on different places, what we were going to see and what to take into consideration like taking a packed lunch with us instead of spending any time in a cafe or a pub during the trip to give us plenty of time to look around the four places we stopped at.

Our driver/guide Tim was excellent. He was such a reliable driver and very knowledgeable on so many things we saw along the way. The walk we did together in Lacock was great and very informative.

The stops were well planned and gave you time to look around the different places. Ideally we would have wanted to visit the Abbey at Lacock but other than that we had no complaints to the schedule of the trip. If we were confident enough to drive in the UK we would have made our own trip to Cotswolds but this tour was an excellent introduction and a safe way to travel there.

There were so many opportunities to great photos during the day and we were really lucky even with the weather. Tim pointed out so many interesting things along the way and that made the bus journeys really pleasant.

We have been a bit hesitant to go on a minibus tour as the tours from London are mainly spent on the bus and you have very little time at each location. Mad Max Tours day trip departs conveniently from Bath and the bus journeys are short and pleasant. We will definitely try another Mad Max Tour on our next visit to Bath as this was excellent from booking to the end. Thank you for a great day trip!

Our guide was Tim, very pleasant and had a great knowledge about all the sites. We spent a great day outside Bath, I recommend it for those who are interested in ancient history and also in film shooting locations. The Stonehenge experience is unique and there’s a very good audio guide that elaborates the highlights. After that we visited small villages that were so picturesque and looked like time stopped many centuries ago. It’s amazing that people live in those houses and they preserve their original appearance. Tim also talked to us about scenes from films and periodic series that were shot in those villages. It was a very educational, interesting and pleasant day, i highly recommend!

The tour was amazing and Richard was the perfect guide! We felt we received great insight from someone who understood both the tour locations and his audience. Stonehenge was complimented with a very well done audio tour you can download. I personally wasn’t overly excited about going there but the audio made it very informative. And the rest was all Richard! Great anecdotes, interesting hands on props, and photos of movie sets from the exact location. Highly recommend!

Kudos to Gerry, best driver ever! He is also a sagacious & knowledgable guide. The torrential rain, off and on all day, and chilly besides, were extremely dampening to one's spirit and body. He made the most atrocious weather day bearable with his high spirits and enthusiasm. The tour was excellent. Maddy's recordings about each area given in the van prior to each arrival were extremely informative. Gerry delivered us to Stonehenge in a most timely manor, beating the throngs we encountered when exiting.....and we mean THRONGS as in maybe waiting an hour or more to get in! Mad Max will be our number 1 recommendation to family & friends when in the Bath area. THANK YOU GERRY for getting us through the flooded roads and delivering us safely to each stop. Ex-pats and friends, Christine and Denise

Wow! Thank you, Christine and Dennis, Gerry will be thrilled to hear how much you appreciate your rather wet weather day with him. It obviously did not dampen your spirits. I am sure Gerry will have had as much fun as you by sharing the lovely historic and beautiful area with you. Maddy will also be pleased to hear that the pre-recorded information also helped with discovering places and information on the journeys between the stops, as well as all the additional information from Gerry. Arriving as part of our group with the timings we book at Stonehenge, does make all the difference to avoid the crowds and make the most of this incredible place, without having to wait hours to get in. We do hope that if you return to the area, you will join Mad Max Tours and possibly Gerry for exploring the Cotswolds, which is one of our other award winning tours. Perhaps the weather will be a little kinder to you. Happy Travels and see you again.

Where to begin! My husband surprised me with a Stonehenge/Avebury/Lacock/Castle Combe + Movie Locations tour for my 50th birthday on March 13th, 2023 via Bath after taking a train in from London the night before (I highly recommend doing this). Just before boarding the clean and spacious bus, we were warmly greeted by our tour guide and driver Richard. Being from the States, the small, winding and sometimes wet roads were intimidating, but we felt totally safe with Richard behind the wheel. The legendary Cotswolds countryside was absolutely beautiful, and it took no time at all to get to Stonehenge. What a rush to see the famous stones in all their glory! Felt bad for the 3 giant tour buses parked nearby as those folks seems rushed and crammed in while we were anything but! Had more than enough time at this location and we were soon ready for the next, beating the aforementioned tour buses. Along the way Richard would chime in with facts, jokes, and interesting tidbits that had us excited for the next stop in Avebury. We loved the even older stones and the space we had to walk around minus the crowd, not to mention the authentic pubs we had time to enjoy - felt like we had the town to ourselves. Next up was the National Trust village of Lacock, with similar charm, shops, Lacock Abbey & gardens and more pubs (we loved Sign of the Angel!) and a walking tour of movie spots. Again, loads of time to wander around, eat and take photos. Then onto the picturesque Castle Combe! My goodness! So many movies have used the area and Richard took us on a walking tour that had us expecting to bump into Harry Potter or the cast of Downton Abbey! So beautiful and so memorable! This was a special birthday and one I will never forget thanks to Richard and Mad Max Tours! A++++++++++++++++

I am so pleased you had such a memorable day on your birthday. I can feel all your positivity and enthusiasm - it's infectious! Travelling in the early Spring gives you the added luxury of peaceful vistas (and photos devoid of too many people). I do hope you have some lovely pictures of your special day. Now start planning your next birthday adventure! Many Congratulations and all Good Wishes Maddy

We had an outstanding tour with Richard, who was undaunted by the rain or the unexpected road closures. The time allowed for each stop was excellent, and Richard kept us interested and amused on the drives between stops with stories and information, much of which may even be true! We packed a picnic lunch, as suggested on the website, which gave us extra time in Lacock to explore on our own before Richard’s walking tour - complete with photos of various TV shows and movies that were filmed there. This was my second Mad Max tour, and I look forward to another one on my next trip to Bath.
