Best way to see Stonehenge, countryside, and authentic village!
We loved this tour! Our guide, Richard, was a delight and very knowledgeable about the area. He provided interesting commentary throughout the tour to help us understand more about the area. It was great to see Stonehenge without any crowds in the off season. We also enjoyed the stop in Lacock. It was fun to see where popular movies and tv shows were filmed and to get a pint. Would recommend this tour to see Stonehenge, a nice view of English countryside and to see an untouched authentic village. A lot packed in for a half day tour!

      underwhelming
underwhelming. the places were nice but the trip wasn't very informative. when you're visiting new places, I'd like to learn about their history, significance for the UK, etc. however, the guide said that he is sitting in for someone and didn't offer much information about the areas we're visiting. He merely played the recording of the owner's voice!! I really feel that the trip was not worth the money. Had I known how disappointing it would be, I would have looked for some other company for this trip.

      10 Stars if we could
Absolutely the one of the best tors and tor guides I've ever experienced. We loved the tour, the special things we go to see because the guide has the inside scoop, and the perfectly timed information and spacious opportunities to experiences what we heard about, all in a day. A perfect tour, no hesitations to recommend - 10 stars!

Enjoyable day of Exploration and sightseeing
We spent the day with Gerry on the full day tour to Stonehenge, Avebury, Cotswold Villages and we had an awesome experience. Seeing Stonehenge was breathtaking and traveling around in the Cotswolds was amazing. Gerry was a great tour director and added in his commentary to give us a more in-depth understanding of the rich heritage of the area. We also loved the stop off for lunch in Lacock National Trust Village. It was definitely a quaint village from centuries past.

      Beautiful and Picturesque Cotswold
We toured the beautiful Cotswold with Mad Max. Our guide Kevin was friendly and helpful. He has a wonderful sense of humour which made our trip more fun. He also gave us little bits of information about the Cotswold and tips on how to see the villages we visited. And how can we forget Maddie's commentaries which helped us see the Cotswolds in the days gone by. The time spent at each of the villages was sufficient and the itinerary well planned. We thoroughly enjoyed our day in the Cotswolds. Thank you Kevin and Mad Max

Best way to see Stonehenge and other destinations in the English countryside!!
Our driver and tour guide Jerry met us promptly and early as promised and whisked us off to Stonehenge, our first destination. He knew all the tricks to get us there early before the crowds. We had a relaxed and moving experience there, but weren’t even close to being done. Our additional three destinations were each remarkable to see and experience. Also, along the way, Jerry had much to tell us about sites we would see as we passed along the narrow country roads that a regular sized tour bus cannot take. (I feel like I now possess world class knowledge about thatched roofs!) If you’re in Bath, don’t miss going to see Stonehenge and don’t miss the Mad Max experience.

      Cotswolds Visit Tour 2
Fabulous day out on our small group Tour of the Cotswolds today. Tim was an excellent driver, historian, story teller and guide on our trip from Bath, through & at the villages. Money very well spent! I can’t recommend this tour highly enough.

      Wonderful Cotswolds Tour with Tim!
We had a wonderful and fun time with Tim on our tour! He gave a very interesting overview of Bath and the Cotswolds. The tour was smartly organized with 6 stops in the Cotswolds each with special sites to explore! Tim is an excellent speaker and we learned so much about this special area!

      Highly Recommend Mad Max!
We did the Cotswolds Tour as a private group and also the Stonehenge Tour with a full group over a weekend in Bath. Andy was our guide for both and was fantastic! In addition to being very knowledegable about the many sites we visited, he kept us entertained with great stories and charming conversations along the way. He also went above and beyond in helping us sort out our train logistics which made our trip much easier. The entire team at Mad Max was wonderful to work with from our first interaction - very accommodating and had great recommendations. Highly recommend!

      Great tour. Thanks Gerry!
Best tour ever! The tour was well planned with enough time at each stop. Our guide even stopped at an old Saxon church that he found when biking, which was a great bonus. Gerry was our guide and he was AMAZING! Wonderful storyteller with the perfect amount of information. Well worth the time and money.

      Great day out...
We recently had the best day out exploring the villages of the world renowned Cotswolds. Our driver and guide, Richard, was friendly and knowledgeable as well as being humorous with little anecdotes and tidbits about the area. We definitely got the "feeling" of the Cotswolds with visits to Castle Combe, Burton on the Water, Stow on the Wold and Bibury. It was a August bank holiday Monday so each place was a little more crowded than usual but did not deter from the fun we had. This tour comes highly recommended and if you are lucky enough to have Richard looking after proceedings, you will not be disappointed.

      Excellent Cotswolds Experience
Our expectations were exceeded on our tour through the narrow roads and charming towns and villages. We wouldn't have wanted to negotiate those roads in a hire car, nor would we have wanted to miss the entertaining and interesting information given. Tim was an excellent driver and guide. We asked him for a dinner recommendation when we returned to Bath and it was one of the best meals of our entire trip. Thanks Tim.

A perfect way to see the Cotswolds with just 1 day.
Our day tour of the Cotswolds from Bath was perfect. It was an all day tour in a small group of 14. Our tour guide Kevin was knowledgeable and helpful at each village so we could see and find the most interesting and beautiful places within each location. We also enjoyed the audio commentaries by the owner Maddie played on the bus between towns. Each stop in a village provided adequate time for self directed touring or if you preferred, Kevin was available to assist in locating must-see areas.

Our guide was Tim, very pleasant and had a great knowledge about all the sites. We spent a great day outside Bath, I recommend it for those who are interested in ancient history and also in film shooting locations. The Stonehenge experience is unique and there’s a very good audio guide that elaborates the highlights. After that we visited small villages that were so picturesque and looked like time stopped many centuries ago. It’s amazing that people live in those houses and they preserve their original appearance. Tim also talked to us about scenes from films and periodic series that were shot in those villages. It was a very educational, interesting and pleasant day, i highly recommend!

Where to begin! My husband surprised me with a Stonehenge/Avebury/Lacock/Castle Combe + Movie Locations tour for my 50th birthday on March 13th, 2023 via Bath after taking a train in from London the night before (I highly recommend doing this). Just before boarding the clean and spacious bus, we were warmly greeted by our tour guide and driver Richard. Being from the States, the small, winding and sometimes wet roads were intimidating, but we felt totally safe with Richard behind the wheel. The legendary Cotswolds countryside was absolutely beautiful, and it took no time at all to get to Stonehenge. What a rush to see the famous stones in all their glory! Felt bad for the 3 giant tour buses parked nearby as those folks seems rushed and crammed in while we were anything but! Had more than enough time at this location and we were soon ready for the next, beating the aforementioned tour buses. Along the way Richard would chime in with facts, jokes, and interesting tidbits that had us excited for the next stop in Avebury. We loved the even older stones and the space we had to walk around minus the crowd, not to mention the authentic pubs we had time to enjoy - felt like we had the town to ourselves. Next up was the National Trust village of Lacock, with similar charm, shops, Lacock Abbey & gardens and more pubs (we loved Sign of the Angel!) and a walking tour of movie spots. Again, loads of time to wander around, eat and take photos. Then onto the picturesque Castle Combe! My goodness! So many movies have used the area and Richard took us on a walking tour that had us expecting to bump into Harry Potter or the cast of Downton Abbey! So beautiful and so memorable! This was a special birthday and one I will never forget thanks to Richard and Mad Max Tours! A++++++++++++++++

I am so pleased you had such a memorable day on your birthday. I can feel all your positivity and enthusiasm - it's infectious! Travelling in the early Spring gives you the added luxury of peaceful vistas (and photos devoid of too many people). I do hope you have some lovely pictures of your special day. Now start planning your next birthday adventure! Many Congratulations and all Good Wishes Maddy

We were on Mad Max Tours' trip to Stonehenge, Avebury, Lacock and Castle Combe on Friday 21st July and enjoyed the day trip to the fullest.

We mainly chose the trip as we had never visited Cotswolds and Avebury before but enjoyed the stop at Stonehenge too.

We were very happy with the information provided in advance as regards the time spent on different places, what we were going to see and what to take into consideration like taking a packed lunch with us instead of spending any time in a cafe or a pub during the trip to give us plenty of time to look around the four places we stopped at.

Our driver/guide Tim was excellent. He was such a reliable driver and very knowledgeable on so many things we saw along the way. The walk we did together in Lacock was great and very informative.

The stops were well planned and gave you time to look around the different places. Ideally we would have wanted to visit the Abbey at Lacock but other than that we had no complaints to the schedule of the trip. If we were confident enough to drive in the UK we would have made our own trip to Cotswolds but this tour was an excellent introduction and a safe way to travel there.

There were so many opportunities to great photos during the day and we were really lucky even with the weather. Tim pointed out so many interesting things along the way and that made the bus journeys really pleasant.

We have been a bit hesitant to go on a minibus tour as the tours from London are mainly spent on the bus and you have very little time at each location. Mad Max Tours day trip departs conveniently from Bath and the bus journeys are short and pleasant. We will definitely try another Mad Max Tour on our next visit to Bath as this was excellent from booking to the end. Thank you for a great day trip!

I had a such good experience on this tour with Barry as our tour guide. He was very knowledgable about the surrounding area and sites along the tour. He was also very funny. I thought the books and recordings were very informative and added a lot of value to the tour. I loved how the tour was laid out with Stonehenge being first to avoid the larger crowds. It was nice that we were also able to walk back to the visitor center rather than take the shuttle. We stopped at Avesbury, for more monuments, Laycock and Castle Comb, my favorite. I loved that we were given time to explore each of places at our leisure, stopping for food, drinks or shops throughout. Barry pointed out all the places where shows /movies were filmed which was great as well. I wish I had bought tickets to the Laycock Manor. There were so many small roads, gardens and parks throughout. I couldn't recommend this tour enough for someone who is looking to explore the British countryside without the hassle of renting a car and navigating the narrow roads.

We are very grateful that we booked our MadMax tour of Stonehenge, Avebury & the villages in the Cotswolds with MadMax. We really enjoyed the tour... and our driver/guide, Colin was charming! When we took our tour, Bath was experiencing extremely wet & drenching rains. The day we chose was not only rainy, but extremely windy (unable to use umbrella at Stonehenge - haha!) Despite the weather, we enjoyed the commentary from our driver as well as recorded comments from the owner, Maddy, as we approached the sites. Maddy runs a very organized, informative, comfortable & fun tour group… If in the area we highly, highly recommend this tour. And if we get the chance to visit England again, we would definitely book the tour of the Cotswold villages through MadMax!

The day began at around 8:20 a.m. and we did not return until roughly 5:30, so this was a day packed with lots of things to see. We had a great driver/tour guide who skillfully navigated us to all of the sights and towns. We learned a lot but also had ample time to explore on our own which we appreciated.

Well organised for the full day's programme. Arrived in Stonehenge early so avoided the long queue allowing more time to enjoy the place better. The day just got better with Avebury stone circle and the quaint villages of Lacock and Castle Combe. Magnificent!

We had a delightful day exploring Stonehenge and a number of small villages with our guide, Barry. He was enthusiastic about the history of the sights and a fun, humorous storyteller. The half-day tour was just right and Barry had us at Stonehenge before the crowds; in fact, our group of 12 were the first to the sight! The charming village tours were really lovely. In addition, the van was clean, cool and comfortable. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in a bit of history and numerous photo opportunities.

What a lovely review - very much appreciated, Thank You! Getting to Stonehenge before others arrive makes such a huge difference to your experience. And thank you for mentioning the comfort of our minicoaches - being that bit higher, but still in a small group means the journey between the places is so much more interesting - such a lot to see! All the Best. Maddy

So we were in England for almost two weeks. We took many tours, saw many sites and had a wonderful time. BUT, this tour was hands down the BEST thing from our whole trip! I’m not exaggerating when I say this. My daughter and I both agreed we would treasure the memories made on this day for the rest of our lives. Our guide, Kevin, was so much fun! He made us laugh and laugh all day. By the end of the day, I really think everyone on our tour bus felt almost euphoric from laughing and having so much fun. As for the sites included - arriving at Stonehenge early in the morning really is very handy. We were literally the first people out around the stones and I think it definitely was a more meaningful and spiritual, if you will, experience without all the crowds. The two Cotswold villages were so quaint and a delight. But the real highlight for me was Avebury. The Avebury stones were on my bucket list and let’s just say, they did not disappoint. Walking amongst the stones, able to touch them while surrounded by grazing sheep was just surreal and amazing. Besides the main sites on the tour, Kevin made sure to point out other ancient features in the landscape and gave us opportunities to pull over and take pics. He also was great with restaurant, pub and other activity recommendations and was extremely well versed in the history (both modern and ancient) of the area. On my next trip to the Bath (and there will be a next), even though I’ve already done this tour, I would not hesitate to go on it again.

The seven Pennsylvania friends who traveled to a stormy Stonehenge, a muddy Avebury with a final stop in fairy tale Castle Combe under the excellent leadership of Kevin all know that today will be remembered as a true highlight of our holiday. Great sense of humor, expert knowledge of the areas visited and an enthusiasm that lasted throughout the day are all marks of an A+ experience. We loved our day out with Kevin and would recommend this tour with MadMax to anyone visiting the area.
