- hc6840 contributionsBarrels of fun!!We had a great time doing Treasure Hunt Newcastle! It was a really good length and took us all round the city, so it was a perfect way to orientate ourselves for the rest of the weekend. The clues were a good level of challenge, and there was always a helpful hint if we needed it! Plus plenty of great recommendations for places to stop for a well earned pint. Would highly recommend to anyone!Written 11 March 2022

We had such a good time on the Treasure Hunt, we did this as a work activity and split up into various groups. Some of the teams were from Newcastle others not but we all learned something new about the city and had a proper laugh on the way around. We started at the Grainger Market for a bite to eat first as there are so many options for food for everyone, then we all had a short walk to the monument for the first clue. We stopped at a couple of decent pubs on the way round so took us a bit longer to get around but we really enjoyed it - would definitely recommend this for something different to do with friends/family/work.

I'm delighted you had fun - great tip to give yourselves plenty of time to really enjoy Newcastle. It's such a great place!
Fancy another go? We're in more cities!
There's only 2 of us, we don't have a marketing team, so your review is really important. Thank you!

Booking was easy and instructions were clear to start. It was raining heavily in Newcastle that day and we asked to continue next day. Paul and Ian Were fantastic and replied to emails quickly, we were able to continue the next day and had a great adventure. We lived in the city for over 5 years and never noticed some of the bits we saw on the hunt. Interface was easy to use and we had no issues at all. Wish there were more trails so we can play again.

We found ourselves in Newcastle looking for something to do for the day and came across this online. We signed up and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We actually learnt a lot about the city doing it too. I had a call from Ian who created the treasure hunt a couple of days after, he wanted to see if we enjoyed it and asked if there would be anything he could do to make the experience better. My only suggestion really, was to update the amount of time it actually takes to complete. We had read it would take between 1.5 and 2.5hours. It took us 4 hours to complete and due to another booked event we found ourselves rushing in the end and having to ask for 'hints'. There were suggestions along the way to stop off for drinks and food, we simply stopped for one quick drink because it was quite obvious that if we stopped for any more we wouldn't have completed it at all. So, my advice would be, definitely give this a go, it's really quite good fun, just allow yourself a lot longer than 2.5hours to do it. Perhaps start in the morning and then you really can take the suggested breaks at a steady pace if you'd like to.

Karen - great to hear you had such a fun time.
It's a great point about the timing. We'll lengthen the upper duration and make it clearer that these are suggestions (as opposed to predictions). You're right, it works best when it can be completed at a relaxed pace, rather than feeling rushed.
I really appreciate you writing a review, it's so important for small independent businesses like us.

Wanted to try something different for a date day with my wife. I wasn’t sure what to expect but we had a fantastic time. The clues were challenging enough to make us think (we did need hints on a few occasions) However, they were really clever mixed with interesting facts about the city. My wife and I both learnt a lot and we noticed so many things that we hadn’t before. The format of the treasure hunt was great and we could take it at a relaxed pace which included the opportunity to stop for lunch and coffee breaks. I would highly recommend and have already recommended it to some family members.
Thank you again. 😊

Amazing way of exploring a city, it was so fun to work out all the clues whilst exploring and also getting history information at the same time. The tour took us in places that we will for sure have missed otherwise. Recommended!

A fun way of exploring the city, with cryptic (ish - not too hard) clues and information about the various locations.
A big advantage is that you take this at your own pace, including a couple of locations where you’re able to take breaks for lunch, etc before resuming when desired.
Will be looking out to see what other cities these cover.

This is really easy to use via WhatsApp. It was great fun, gives you hints and clues when needed. We saw loads of Newcastle city centre and the Quayside whilst learning about the history. We walked at our own pace, stopped a couple of times for coffee. Without giving too much away, when we reached the Literary clue we popped into the building mentioned. We had an impromptu little tour of it which just added to the whole experience. We highly recommend this activity

Absolutely brilliant, no waiting around or relying on anyone else, just booked our hunt and tapped the button when we were ready to go, hardest part was choosing our team name!
Clues were really well written not too easy and not too hard. We took a break for tea halfway and picked again. No problems at all with the site and it was all done at a good pace. Really interesting facts and took us to some places we’d never seen before. Would definitely recommend!

My husband and I wanted to get to know the city better, but also wanted to be able to shop and go at our own pace. This tour was brilliant for that! It takes you through key locations, gives you the contextual history and the clues were a good challenge (we were racing to solve them first and got pretty good by the end). I'm definitely going to do another one of these tours. It helped us get our bearings whilst appreciating what was around us (and we found an amazing place for lunch thanks to it). Great fun!

Absolutely brilliant fun. I was a bit dubious about doing this in my own city, as I thought I knew everywhere but this was so much fun.
Went with my partner and 15 year old son. I thought the young un would find it a bit boring but we stopped off for food and drinks along the way.
Perfect level of difficulty and had me paying attention to things I’d walked past 100 times.
We are now looking at day trips to other cities to do this again.
Can’t rate it highly enough!
