Very entertaining! The guide was very appropriately theatrical which made the stories he was telling very engaging. We learned many interesting facts about the “dark side” of Stratford, which made us appreciated the struggles people went through back in the day. The duration was perfect - 1 1/2 h which is just enough as a pre-dinner entertainment.

I had a lovely time on this tour! The guide spoke loud and clear, was funny, receptive to questions, patient and all round just made the tour enjoyable. When someone was missing at the start of the tour, he tried his best to contact them. And after the tour, I stayed around to ask some questions which he answered with enthusiasm.
My only tip is, make sure to pay attention to the pickup spot (you might end up at the wrong end of the street) and maybe reconsider if you’re particularly squeamish.
I would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys ghost stories, especially revolving around plague and witch hunters!

Fantastic tour, highly recommended. Joe is lovely, very funny, theatrical, and entertaining, with lots of ghostly stories to share. He was also very patient, dealing with customers who had obviously had 1 drink too many before joining the tour in a very calm, professional manner, not losing his cool.

We joined Sinister Stratford soon after we arrived, as an introduction to what the town has to offer. We were lucky to end up as a very small group, and getting what can only be described as a private tour. Joe is a knowledgeable and funny guide, as well as a gifted storyteller. He connects the main events from the history of Stratford with what can be found in Shakespeare's work, sprinkling it all with the wicked and scary stories that the town accumulated throughout the ages. A great walk for anyone looking for an exciting introduction to Stratford, we would 100% recommend it!

A fantastic insight into the local history of Stratford. Our tour guide was entertaining with plenty of interesting tales of characters from the area and not just William Shakespeare! A great way to learn more about the town with many interesting buildings and features pointed out during the tour. We would thoroughly recommend this to anyone visiting Stratford

My family and I (kids aged 12 and 10) did the walk today and really enjoyed it. Got to see the sights of Stratford whilst listening to some very entertaining stories which were great for both adults and children. Would highly recommend to any families visiting Stratford who fancy doing something a bit different.

Me and my girlfriend wanted something spooky for Halloween that wasn't your standard "drink alcohol into the early hours of the morning". What an absolute delight it was to find this tour. Our guide was extremely informative, hilarious and engaging throughout. Donning an exquisite top hat and a rather fitting skull tipped cane, he led us through the darker history of Stratford. We were completely entranced for the course of the tour, our guide even kindly disproved a fact about coffins and bells that had popped up in the group.

If you're into history, if you're in to Stratford or even if you're just into walking; this is the tour for you.

Incredible value for money, will be recommending him to friends and family.

Interesting and informative walking tour of
Stratford. The guide was entertaining and knew his stuff.

When I booked it in Feb I wasn’t sure how long we’d last on the tour as I am heavily pregnant and we had our four year old with us too who usually has the attention span of a fly.

However, the guide was engaging enough to keep his attention and walk itself wasn’t strenuous.

Would highly recommend and would even do it again if we come back to Stratford again.
    Thank you

This was a fantastic experience. A truly perfect melding of local history, of which the guide was incredibly knowledgeable, ghost stories, which were fantastically delivered and humour.

The guide was clearly very passionate about the tour and this made for a very enjoyable experience.

We informed the guide at the start that we might need to take some time to translate for a member of our group and he was more than accommodating, making sure to speak slower and checking that we were all following.

Definitely worth a look if you are in Stratford for a visit!

We signed up for the 5pm tour on Sunday 25th feb 2024. The tour guide was fabulous, dressed the part and had a great level of enthusiasm and knowledge. All his stories were entertaining and he was welcoming further questions. The tour itself was a nice round route via the river with lots of stops so not challenging at all. I would recommend this tour it was very interesting and a beautiful stroll around Stratford
