    Great tour
Lots of interesting places to see and the tour guide, Jonathan was very informative. He also was very conscious that it was cold so thoughtfully adjusted the tour to go somewhere warm inside.

    Perfect!
He's witty, so knowledgeable, funny and passionate. Jonathan is definitely THE guy you'd like to have in your backpack while exploring any city in the world. Unfortunately he only exists in Birmingham... so folks better not miss out! And thank you Mr Berg for making us so passionate about the history of the industrial revolution in our old Europe that spread from the Midlands all over the planet (plastic included - sorry - but that's just a detail largely balanced by the amazing "toys" and jewellery you Brummies have been able to invent and produce over the glorious centuries). Thank you again!

A great walking tour that brought Birmingham to life. Fun, informative and accessible.
Jonathan’s tour was fun, really informative and just the right length. We learnt all sorts of interesting facts and would absolutely recommend it to others. The audio system he used was very helpful when we were walking through noisy areas, as we could all hear his commentary on headphones.

Best tour of a brilliant City!
Engaging, interactive, fascinating, informative, fun, this was by far and away the best walking tour I've done. Jon the tour guide came prepared with audio equipment so you don't miss anything, came equipped with visual aids to illustrate key points, really knew his stuff, engaged with the tour members in a very personable way, and did a really excellent job. As someone who has lived in Brum for over a decade, I found out so many fascinating details of this great city. Highly recommended and not to be missed!!

    Informative and absolutely fun tour
We absolutely enjoyed this tour on a rainy day! Our guide Jonathan had a great interaction with everyone in the group and he managed to combine a couple of centuries of history into an exciting narrative! He is also knowledgeable in terms of street art and overall a great story teller! We had a great time and got introduced to Brummie in the best possible way :) Would definitely recommend!

Secret Canal /Jewellery Quarter Walking Tour
I went on The Secret Canal /Jewellery Quarter Walking Tour, as part of the Heritage Weekend on Sunday 15th September, eventhough it is a regular walking tour for this company. Johnathan Berg led the tour, and although it rained, his enthusiasm and knowledge for the subject shone through! He was engaging, amusing, and full of anecdotes, and I would highly recommend this 2 hour tour.

A great and enjoyable way to learn about Birmingham.
My family of four took this tour on 14 September with Jonathan Berg as our Tour Guide. Rather than just being about Canals and Victorians in covered a whole range of issues which have shaped Birmingham over the last 250 years. Birmingham is a large city with large areas being redeveloped. As such it is difficult to get to know. Jonathan's humorous, exceptionally knowledgeable talk provided a great introduction to the City. This covered: - Its history of industrialisation and deindustrailisation. - The impact of its Canals. - How the urban problems of the 1800s were solved. - Many of the most significant buildings and examples of its street art. The commentary provided through wireless headsets was great at allowing one to hear Jonathan clearly regardless of background noise. Also (a) one could walk some distance from him to get a different view; and, (b) at one point he took us into a University Reading Room where the headsets allowed him to talk to us without disturbing the people in the room. Overall a great introduction to the City.

    Highly recommended tour
Very interesting and enjoyable walking tour around the jewellery quarter. Jonathan brings the history alive with anecdotes and references to what you see you around you as you walk. He is steeped in the history of Birmingham and has a passion to share it. The live audio system means you catch every word. Highly recommend it.

Blessed by excellent weather, we embarked upon our fourth Birmingham tour with Jonathan Berg to explore Digbeth, it’s history, culture and development as a vibrant region of the city. Our previous tours embracing the city centre, jewellery quarter and the association with the arts and crafts movement had all been really excellent and we were looking forward to exploring a region that we had really only known some forty years ago for its coach station.

We were in for a real treat, beginning with a look at some contemporary sculptures near to St Martin’s not far from the river Rea upon which the city of Birmingham was formed initially. We then passed to the gigantic Bordesley viaduct and the areas disputed by rival street gangs (including the original Peaky Blinders). Jonathan’s easy manner was informative and entertaining and the two hour walk over four kilometres was pacy and varied.

Of exceptional value to us was an introduction to the legalised street art in the area. This was a real education in itself and Jonathan’s recently self acquired appreciation of the murals and their creators was outstanding. Many of our photographs show Jonathan enthusiastically addressing his audience which, on this occasion, had locals and people from across the world.

We have always loved the city of Birmingham even though we lived there for just four years when first married. It is a dynamic place which is being developed in exciting ways. Jonathan’s tours embrace these developments at every opportunity. For example, Jonathan introduced us to the new venue for the BBC Midlands studio when it leaves the Mailbox and the huge studio which will host the filming of the forthcoming Peaky Blinders film.

We look forward to taking part in more walks as they are created. We are already booked on to one looking at the university next month.

I really cannot recommend these tours too highly for anyone who either is a Brummie through and through or who may be visiting the city for the first time. They are in a league of their own. A real bonus is that they are offered altruistically in order to support local charities.

Fantastic Jonathan. Thank you again. Very much looking forward to the next one.

Wow! Thanks so much for coming on our tours and also writing such amazing and detailed feedback. I guess the reason for people liking our tours is actually that they are not just full of facts about our city put over in a dynamism and humour. They are also about a way of living in a city - that you get much more out if you take the time to look around and understand things. Looking forward to seeing you on our next tour. We have a brand new one; Birmingham's Public Art starting during Birmingham Heritage Week and then potentially running through the year on a weekday - see our Posiitively Birmingham Walking Tour website for details.

Another excellent walking tour of Birmingham’s Digbeth by Jonathan Berg of Positively Birmingham including views of the BBC's new Birmingham HQ at the Typhoo Tea Factory. Wecalso saw some fantastic examples of Birmingham’s great graffiti art by artists such as Anatomix, Lucy McLoughlin and others too numerous to mention! I can safely say it was the MOST colourful walking tour of Birmingham I have ever been on. The tour was 4 kilometres long and took just over two hours and I can heartily recommend it. We met at the Birmingham Bullring bull and then walked past Nelson's statue (one of the oldest in the country) and Lorenzo Quinn's Hand outside The Church of St Martin's to remember those that perished in the Birmingham Blitz. A fantastic two hour tour of Digbeth. I will share some of the most colourful photos from the tour

Thanks for coming along again to our Digbeth walking tour. Yes, the Saturday morning tour of Digbeth is great fun. We do see some amazing street art by some of the best known contemporarty artists from our city. We also get to understand the ever changing Digbeth/Deritend part of the city and of course get a feel for the home of the Peaky Blinders story. You can see dates for the Digbeth, Public Art and Peaky Film tour on the Positively Birmingham website.

What Jonathan doesn't know about Birmingham street art isn't worth knowing. We had an excellent walk and talk, made so easy to hear with earphones (take your hearing aids out first). He has such an easy, fluent delivery, full of interesting facts about the street art and the artists responsible. The skill which goes into these large works of art is unbelievable. Well done, Jonathan.

Well.... Jonathan has recently published his book Birmingham's Public Art which gives an insight into the public art of Birmingham. Our public tour of Digbeth runs several Saturday mornings each month and gets to understand the history and present day including looking at some of the key Birmingham street artists. You can see full details of all our tours on the Positively Birmingham walking tours.

Signed up to this walking tour as part of the Birmingham Heritage week. We had seen some of the art around the Custard Factory before, but this tour was extensive and covered unknown (to us) corners of Digbeth. Jonathan is a very well informed and witty guide and made this two hour trip very worthwhile, and enjoyable.
It was an added bonus to visit the canal where the new 'Peaky Blinders' Stephen Knight studios, and Masterchef studio are situated.

Highly recommended, as is the Birmingham Heritage week.

Yes, let us hope that the funding is put in place to continue the Birmingham Heritage Week in future years. It brings so many local people out to learn more about their amazing city. The street art of Digbeth is diverse, edgy and well worth exploring. Your guide has written the book: Birmingham's Public Art and so has an in depth knowledge of all things public art in Birmingham. The trick though is in putting this knowledge over in a fun and vibrant way - and from what you have written we ticked that box. Do check out all our tours on the Positively Birmingham Walking Tours website where you can get great prices on our tickets all year round.

As always with Positively Birmingham Tours, our guide Jonathan was well-researched, professional and enthusiastic. A cut above other guided tours of the city, I would recommend this tour to new visitors to Birmingham as well as to other fellow Brummies who think they know everything about the city. Always something to learn on these tours!

Thanks for feeding back. Digbeth is an amazing area and has so much to talk about. However, you can overload people with facts - and we work hard to ensure we do not do that. There are simple and important stories that Digbeth brings out. The move from Deer Park> Built up residential & factory>loss of redidential>loss of factory>rebirth of residential is an amazing circular story. The new Digbeth tour will run most Saturday mornings in 2023 - do check out the Positively Birmingham walking tour website for all tickets and times.

I really enjoyed this tour. It was a type of tour and in an area that I would not typically do, and found it very interesting and enjoyable and discovered an area that I would not have seen if I just followed the typical recommendations. The guide is very knowledgeable and passionate about the area and the public street art and artists which contributed to the outcomes of the tour. I lalso did the other tour of the city and combined it provided a very good overview of the city. Will definitely recommend these walking tours of Birmingham.

Thanks for feeding back. Yes, the Digbeth and Deritend area of the city has so much to see but it is a very different experience than the more touristy parts (if there are such a thing in Birmingham) of the city. Your tour guide, Jonathan Berg has just had the book: Birmingham's Public Art published - it includes a lot of the street art that you saw on the walk. Do look on the Positively Birmingham website for a list of all our upcoming tours.

A really eye opening tour of the Digbeth area .
Starting by the bull at the Bull Ring, we were given a fascinating glimpse of the history of Digbeth - finding out part of the area used to be a deer park for instance!

Jonathan showed us the full range of public art, mainly focused on street artists. Their work is exciting, and Jonathan's enthusiasm brought the artists and their work to life.

An outstanding 2 hours. The technology of headphones worked perfectly - we could hear everything Jonathan said.

Thanks - yes the headphones are essential for this tour as we discover the street art of Digbeth, see the Peaky Blinder style of streets and understand how Birmingham started above the banks of the little River Rea. Do book again when you can - see all our tours and book tickets on the Positively Birmingham walking tour website.

A great way to learn much more about Birmingham, a city I thought I knew fairly well. The tour is about the right length with pauses in places to discuss the 'art'. Good technology to be able to listen to the guide with your own earphones (or cheap ones available from the guide). Casual, chatty style of the tour leader added to the comfortable atmosphere of the tour. I enjoyed the tour, the others in the group appeared to also enjoy it.

As a Brummie, I learnt a great deal about Digbeth's history that I never knew and discovered artwork and businesses I never knew existed. I'll be heading down to Digbeth with renewed interest. The street art in the area is great and learning a little bit about the artists was interesting.

The guide was very knowledgeable with a great sense of humour and a love of Birmingham. I'll be booking a walking tour for friends or family when they visit.

Thanks. Yes the audio system is essential for the exploratory tours we do of Birmingham. Even in a large group you can hear every word. You can also be away from the group a bit and perhaps take some photos and still stay totally connected. The Saturday morning Digbeth tour has so much in it - from the origins of our city to the most recent street art - and even the UN40 recording studio site! Tour guide Jonathan has recently completed the book: Birmingham's Public Art which is available in Birmingham bookshops and online.
