    Fantastic, well thought-out tour
I bought the self-guided tour for my husband and I to complete on his birthday. As we’ve got young kids we very rarely get to go out and experience Leeds, so this was the perfect way to experience so much of what the city has to offer in a short amount of time. The tour was very well thought out (I recommend following the tour in order) and pretty much the perfect amount of food if you start at 1pm and finish at 6pm. It was the most memorable birthday we’ve had in a long time, thank you!

    Fantastic tour!
Fantastic experience! Highly recommended Bought this for my girlfriend, such a fantastic tour around leeds, places are not too far apart and the info pack makes them really easy to find introdduced us to so many new places i would have not thought about going in before but will deffinately return too. The only thing that would make this better but is in no way a criticism, is maybe a card stating whats on offer for you at each venue, we found some places the staff where a little unsure on what you get unless of course the manager was on shift. For example the burger (by the way the best burger i had eaten) the guy was unsure but offered us a burger each wich was amazing! But as people have said on here different to their experience. The portions where fine as you are eating all day and are really tastey and we litrelly could not finish our order from the falafal guys. Thank you for this experience Fantastic very well organised and really good information.

Extortionate prices for what you get!
I was bought a self guided tour for Christmas and decided to take a friend for a day out around Leeds last month. At £85 (including postage) for 5 venues (plus a "sample pot" at Rola Wala) we weren't sure what to expect (the website did not specify, nor do the vouchers) food wise but assumed for the equivalent of around £17 per venue (minus Leeds Food Tours running costs) we would get a reasonable amount / choice of food - how wrong were we?? At the first venue we were offered 2 options of fries (great choice)?? We choose Big Mick Fries which turned out to be a very small tray of chips (no more than about 14 or 15 chips) with a crumbled burger and sauce on top. Whilst it was tasty I have to ask - really?? 7 or 8 fries each, with a bit of mince and sauce sprinkled on the top? We decided to use another voucher and was told the next voucher entitled us to a side order of a Hummus bowl, sweet potato fries or halloumi fries - one side to share? The next choice was one burger, cut in half, to share!! This was followed by a 6" pizza - again to share! And finally a small Bao bun each! We worked out that the total cost of this food, had we gone to the venues independently, would be no more than around £32 giving Leeds Food Tours at mark up of over 150% - wow!! Whilst I appreciate companies have to make a profit this is just extortionate!!. I emailed Leeds Food Tours and was advised by Ellen that the cost included the printing of the tour packs / vouchers (I think you need to find a new printer if they are charging you this sort of price!) plus the "running costs such as ongoing liaison with the venues and marketing"? I'm not sure exactly what liaison is needed to arrange a tray of chips? As I told Ellen, the concept is a great idea but the pricing is way out of line, and a complete rip off, on a food to cost ratio (even taking into account "running costs"). I have thrown the rest of the vouchers in the bin (only used 2) as I find it a complete embarrassment to ask a company for a 6" pizza to share, or half a burger!

    Brilliant
This street food tour that had been bought for me as a gift 15 month ago but delayed due to COVID. it was worth waiting for! Our host, Ellen, was friendly and knowledgeable. We tried 6 types of food in 4 different locations. All were very tasty. Overall a really enjoyable evening.

Discover the best eats of Leeds through the lens of a local, considering booking- I would!!
Local Leeds food tour is a great afternoon. Nell has crafted a fab tour. It was a relaxed and friendly tour, it felt like a friend showing me around town. Nell leads you to all of the best eats, supporting indie restaurants and picking food items that are interesting and have a story to share. The tour also combines history of the food and Leeds. After living in Leeds for a year the tour took to me to venues I'd walked past but never tried. And places I'd walked by but never noticed. I loved these venues so much so I went to them again on my own. Highly recommend these tours for locals and tourists alike.

Great food and so much fun!
I’m local and I eat mostly vegan but I’m a creature of habit, I eat the same meals at the same places and it was time to mix it up! I’d eaten at one of the places on the tour before but at all the stops (5 in total) I tried dishes I’d never had and they were all amazing! Ellen’s knowledge of the venues, the dishes and the city was great, her enthusiasm for good food is second to none and she knows where to find it. I would highly recommend any of her tours whether you’re new to the city or just want to find some new places. Can’t wait to go on my next one!

    Excellent food and friendly guide
We had the pleasure of being the first people to go on the Leeds Vegan Food Tour, and we certainly will not be the last. We met easily at the Queen's Hotel and the tour was a great duration, at around 3.5 hours. The tour was thoroughly enjoyable: the food was fantastic and the tour of the city was insightful and fun too! The variety of food that we tried was a great blend of both junk and healthy food. We are a couple who are trying to adopt the vegan diet, so it was great to see how many great places there are for vegans to go to. Ellen is a great tour guide, she knew a lot about all five venues we visited and the city as a whole. Whether you live in Leeds or are visiting for the first time, you will learn a lot on this tour. Her passion for what she does made the experience very enjoyable. If you are a vegan, or just want to try it, I could not recommend this tour enough. Five venues of good food, and a drink included in a few of the venues. What more do you want?

    Food Tour II: Electric Buggaloo
Having experienced the local Leeds tour, Nell, the guide, had mentioned she had several other ideas up her sleeve including a 'Street Food' tour. Given the local tour ticked so many boxes, I thought I'd give this one a go and I'm glad I did. Leeds has a thriving street food scene and the tour was broken up across several of the 'hubs' around the city. I can't give too much away for obvious reasons but wow! Burgers, chicken, falafel and some of the best wurst I've ever had, all washed down with a few beers and more foodie facts. I don't know how she does it but Nell has clearly done her homework and also developed a great relationship with the vendors. You won't leave hungry and you'll definitely want more... Apparently there's a Leeds market tour on the horizon. I'll be front of the queue for that!!

Leeds Hard To Beat For Meat-Free Treats
There's so much choice in this city and so little time to do it all. When will someone come along to do the hard work for me and say 'go here, here and here and eat this, that and these'? Well at last it's happened. I'm not a vegan but I rarely turn down the opportunity to eat food. It always helps if the food is delicious and I'm sure it would be given my prior experience on Leeds Food Tours. I was right. We were treated to a wide variety of vegan fair, from burger to nuggets to curries and all the accompaniments you would expect. Alongside facts about the city and the food, the Vegan Food tour is another delightful learning experience in terms of both food and the city itself. I'm looking forward to my next outing and I await new delicious items for consumption and horizon-broadening.

So much fun, delicious indie food and really interesting too
My friend and I had such a lovely time on Nell's tour and not only did we enjoy all the food, we found it really interesting and insightful too. Nell is friendly, enthusiastic and really knows her 'stuff' on Leeds! Being vegetarian meant Nell made sure every stop had something suitable and we found all of it to be so delicious! I loved that we only stopped at independent places and I liked that there wasn't actually too much walking (it was raining on our tour). I've done food tours in the past which felt quite rushed but this one wasn't rushed in the slightest. We got to chat, laugh and despite being on a timetable felt like we were going at our own pace. I can't wait to do another one!

I was bought the tour as a Christmas present and didn’t really know what to expect so was a little apprehensive when I turned up at the meeting point. I shouldn’t have worried as I was about to be taken on a food adventure through Leeds with Nell as our confident, chatty and Informative guide. Me and my wife have lived in Leeds for well over 15 years and we both thought I knew it but with Nell as our guide we got to visit some great new places and look at the city with fresh eyes. My particular highlight was the visit to Leeds market which I hadn’t been to in years and where we were introduced to great stalls and some fantastic food and it was a bit of eye opener as to how much the market has improved and I will definitely be going back there. As well as the market we visited fantastic restaurants and pubs in Leeds that I will be visiting again at the first chance I get. A genuinely fun and interesting way to explore the city and it’s excellent independent food scene. I would highly recommend it.

OK, if you would like to be entertained, informed and fed by Ellen on her trip around the center of Leeds this is the one for you. We were taken to 6 different food/drink venues to sample lots of eclectic food styles and the 4 to 5 hours slipped by very quickly. So much so that we will be giving a friend a voucher to go on the same food tour and also go back again ourselves to accompany Ellen on one of her street food tours.

I attended the local Leeds good tour with my colleagues. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and easy to be around. We visited a large variety of venues and each offered something slightly different but were still able to cater for vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians (as well as those without dietary requirements) which meant that we all got value for money. I was introduced to many places that I will definitely be visiting again. An excellent afternoon - would highly recommend!

This was a great trip. Wonderful food at several interesting venues. It was nice to see a bit of historic Leeds and we felt the tour also a good showcase for Leeds, illustrating what a special place the city is. Ideal for tourists and locals seeking to broaden their knowledge. Many thanks!

We have just returned from a lovely afternoon exploring some food places in Leeds. We live locally and apart from one venue we had not been to any of the others. With the lovely Ellen guiding us through the tour we ate in 6 different places all very unique and quirky in their own way. Book this tour if you’re from Leeds to find new places to try and if you’re not from Leeds do this tour as a sample of where you can go for something different. A summer afternoon we spent in good company and lots of delicious food. Thank you Ellen.

We came onto the food tour for our work wellbeing day!
Ellen was amazing throughout. We sampled food at various restaurants, learnt the history and where the products were locally sourced from.

Even though our trip was for educational purposes I would definitely recommend to friends or foodies who just dont no what food to try next!

The food choices were amazing, Ellen did an amazing job explaining everything too us.

Great day out!

Had a great time with our lovely guide Lynda who was full of interesting facts and well organised. Come to Leeds often but discovered lots of new places, most of which we will revisit. Sampled some great food, drinks can be bought extra, though be aware you may have to drink them quickly!
Loved it when the staff were enthusiastic and interested, they’re the ones you want to revisit. Got to say a couple of places didn’t really show us much interest, just produced the food with little explanation.
Lucky to have good weather and another lovely couple to experience this with which made it brilliant.
Would recommend as a great day and for a gift.

My husband and I have just finished this amazing tour by Ellen. Throughly enjoyed the whole experience, we tried food and visited 6 fantastic places, from the oldest pub in Leeds, too some independent establishments and the famous Leeds market. We tried a variety of food and drinks throughout the day whilst visiting some truly historic places. I would highly recommend for a very enjoyable and informative day.
