- chrissym8530 contributionsStraight to silver NNASI went on the ‘straight to silver NNAS’ in Edale. Simon was the trainer. This was the most amazing course I have ever attended. I read about hiking navigation skills, but could not really use them. On the course Simon explained and demonstrated everything with patience and enthusiasm. He was very encouraging throughout the course and kept our attention bound to each step. I feel so much more confident now in planning a route and reading a map and walking on a compass bearing. The best of all being send off in the middle of a mountain covered in mist, with very low visibility, finding the target by relying on your just learned compass bearing! Fantastic!! I am looking forward to more courses.Written 6 November 2024
- beehivemama0 contributionsGreat instructor.Simon was an excellent teacher for the NNAS straight to silver award. We had a fun weekend too. Not sure his filming skills are the same standard as his instructing 🤣. Highly recommend him. He’s patient, fun and informative.Written 3 November 2024
- davidhR28NI0 contributionsFun and engaging courses delivered by Simon.Have just attended an Outdoor First Aid award, which is the second course I have attended with Simon instructing, the previous one being a navigation course. Simon’s enthusiasm, energy and passion for what he does is infectious. Simon has an incredible ability to turn what could otherwise be a very dry subject (first aid) into something fun and engaging, by choosing a variety of teaching methods which take you out of the classroom and get you learning in a practical, hands on way. I have thoroughly enjoyed both courses I have attended with Simon, and I hope to attend more in the future. I would highly recommend attending one of Simon’s courses to anyone looking to expand their outdoor skills, whether it be navigation, first aid or any of the many courses that Mountain Xperience have to offer. Great work Simon! :)Written 27 October 2024
- Len1050 contributionsGreat experience with a really supportive and engaging group.Inspirational guide (Simon) ensured that I got to the top in horrible conditions and didn’t give up. My companions supported me too.Written 26 October 2024
- JoySheekey810 contributionsMuch more fun than tackling Snowdon alone!A really enjoyable day hiking up Snowdon and back. I’ve never done any hiking quite as taxing as this and so decided that I’d be much better off going up with a guided group than trying to tackle it on my own, and I’m really pleased that I made this decision. Simon knows exactly how to keep the group motivated, how much to tell us about what’s coming up next and how much longer there is left. He also knew when it was best for us to tackle part of the hike at our own pace and when to keep us all together. Despite not being lucky enough to catch a view from the top, we all had lots of fun taking in the experience in the cloud, wind and rain and, of course, then really appreciated the views when the clouds parted. Thanks Simon (and the rest of the group) for making the day feel so ‘do-able’ and enjoyable.Written 23 October 2024
- Grangetime0 contributionsNNAS Bronze Navigation Course October 2024Just completed my NNAS Bronze Navigation Course with MountainXperience. The instructor Simon was brilliant very enraging and clearly has detailed knowledge of both Navigation and the Peak district. Simon delivered the course in a relaxed and informative manner which in turn made the weekend highly enjoyable despite the adverse weather conditions on day 2. I left the course feeling that my navigation skills and knowledge had been enhanced and developed which gives me confidence for future outdoor experiences. If you are looking to boost your knowledge of Navigation and the countryside look no further than MountainXperience and Simon can't recommend highly enough I will definitely be back.Written 22 October 2024

- mishmayer0 contributionsGuided Hike on SnowdonSimon was an excellent guide; he was the perfect balance of responsible, knowledgable and fun and easy going. We absolutely loved our trip with Simon, he knew the area well and was also able to help and advise us throughout. For a lot of us it was the first time doing something like this and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Simon has excellent communication throughout and was able to offer incredibly helpful advice before the trip. I would recommend Simon and his team to anyone!Written 14 October 2024

His knowledge of the mountain and surrounding area was outstanding, and his passion for sharing stories and information made the journey both fascinating and fun. We talked the entire way up and down, it felt like we’d known him forever. Having a guide made such a difference; Tom ensured the pace was comfortable for us, providing rest points and gentle encouragement when needed. His tales and personal experiences added so much to the hike. Knowing that Tom is part of the mountain rescue team gave us even more confidence, he truly had everything covered, and we felt safe in great hands. A big thank you for letting the trip go ahead with just the two of us, as it was a special anniversary gift for my wife. We’ll definitely be back to try another route! Also, thank you for the photos you took and shared, they’re a wonderful keepsake from an unforgettable day. Warm regards to Simon and Tom!Written 8 October 2024
- harrisjeremy0 contributionsMoney Well Spent.Just attended the NNAS straight to Silver weekend with Simon as our tutor/coach. Fantastic time in the hills in the Peak District with a great group of like minded people. Simon progressively tutored and tested us over the weekend, delivering the course in a relaxed manor with plenty of good humour. You could quite clearly see the group grow in confidence over the period of three days. I now feel inspired to head back out on to the hills with a fresh set of skills. Looking forward to the Gold course. Thanks Simon.Written 7 October 2024

The group was made up of 6 ladies all keen to conquer the epic mountain. Simon was a brilliant guide, he kept us all motivated & was able to accommodate all our walking efforts. He was knowledgeable & even took us a little off the beaten track to appreciate the beauty of this amazing mountain. What a brilliant experience. Set myself a challenge to climb Snowdon and so glad I decided to join Mountain Experience for a sunrise walk. I was a solo walker and was made to feel very welcome by the great guide, Tom and the other walkers. The weather was perfect and we witnessed THE most beautiful sunrise with time at the top to take it all in and take plenty of pics. I enjoyed this walk so much and learnt so much, especially as a newbie to mountain walking. I'm already looking at booking onto their Mountain Skills course to gain more experience on the mountains! If you're thinking of booking but not too sure, do it, you won't regret it! And don't worry if you're a solo walker, you'll be made to feel very welcome from the second you arrive.

This morning we embarked on an adventure of a life time 🌄
We started by meeting complete strangers at a train station at 1 o’clock in the morning 😂
This is were we meet the incredible Tom he absolutely and completely made our sunrises hike so special 👌 ( we didn’t want to leave him when we were finished ) 🥺
Even if you think you can take on snowdon at stupid o’clock in the morning yourself then DONT! You can’t put a price on Toms knowledge, experience and humour to get you to the top.
If you’re hesitant to book this activity the think again !!!! It was indescribably perfect and one you will never forget 🤯
We will be back just for Tom! And his banana sandwiches 😂
Top stars for Tom and Snowdonia Sunrise Hike ❤️

If you’re thinking of climbing Snowdon, I cannot recommend this company enough. Doing it at sunrise makes this experience 10 times better. Our guide Tom was outstanding from start to finish. Cannot fault a thing, he was caring, compassionate, kind and so friendly. He went above and beyond for me during our walk, genuinely a fantastic soul who is clearly so passionate about what he does and strives to make the experience as easy and comfortable as possible. Our walk would not have been the same without him. Thank you Tom!

We met our guide Hywyn at the Llanberis Snowdon Mountain Railway station early on Saturday morning, where from the outset he was friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and professional. His wealth of knowledge, fun q&a’s, and tales of events on and around the mountains made the ascent a pleasure. Unfortunately I myself did not make it up to the summit- which was no fault of Hywyn’s- but the rest of the group including my wife did, and were rewarded with a wonderful sight as the sun rose, a rare and no doubt wonderful experience. After meeting the group at the Halfway House on the way down, we made our way back down to Llanberis in the early morning sunshine. I would have no hesitation recommending this hike to anyone capable of making the ascent.

We did a sunrise walk up Snowdon for our friends 40th birthday. We had a fantastic time with Hywyn as our guide. He kept us entertained with his stories and despite the weather not allowing a clear sunrise that day and strong winds and rain we had an amazing experience. Would highly recommend

We recently booked this trip to watch the sunrise on Saturday 15th June. It was me my friend and my nephew. Our guide was so organised and well prepared and so attentive to everyone. When we got to the summit I did not eat anything and then felt a little light headed and he came over and gave me sweets and explained how to get my energy up. He then gave me his extra fleece and coat to put on top of my clothes as he noticed my temperature drop on the decline. He was so knowledgeable and attentive during the whole trip. I cant remember his name, but our mountain ranger was a life saver. Thank you for the wonderful experience 😊 xx

With 45 mph winds and an 800m cloud base the views were in short supply but with the experience and encouragement of Hywyn I had the best time. A small group working together, we paced the walk with plenty of stops and lots of support. With the preadvice from Simon I was well prepared and felt safe from start to finish: a fabulous experience and one I fully recommend even in poor weather conditions!

I had the most incredible birthday experience with Mountain Xperience! I decided to go on a sunrise hike, and I was lucky enough to have Simon as my guide. I had never hiked in the dark before, and I was a bit nervous, but Simon immediately put me at ease.
Simon's expertise and passion were evident right from the moment we met him. He skillfully led us through the Llanberis Path with unwavering confidence, ensuring our safety at every step.
Thanks to Simon's guidance and encouragement, I gained the confidence to tackle a hike in the dark, something I had never considered before.
I recommend Mountain Xperience and Simon. If you're in search of an unforgettable outdoor adventure with a knowledgeable and fun guide, this is the way to go. To Simon and Mountain Xperience, thank you for making my birthday one for the books!

Having just completed my first mountain climb, with my eldest son, I can’t recommend MountainXperience enough. Tom the guide was fantastic, and very supportive when I started to struggle with the ascent. He encouraged me through it and I reached the top with 5 minutes to spare to witness a beautiful sunrise. A truly unforgettable experience. Thank you so much
