- Vjkane7200Fascinating Walking Tour of BelfastWe enjoyed this walking tour so much and hate to say it, but it was more interesting than the Dublin one. Steve gave a fascinating insight into Belfast's history without spending too much time about the 'troubles'. Overall, Steve sold us Belfast, which will hopefully learn from sad events in the past that tore apart families, communities and the city as a whole. Due to the friendly people of Belfast, we feel it has a bright future and Steve's walking tour explains how we shouldn't forget the past but learn important lessons to achieve peace, equality and prosperity for all. Thank you Steve!
- 667triciac00Belfast City Walking TourBrilliant tour, well worth it. Tour guide was very informative, a great mix of old and new knowledge and information.
- aryan a00A fascinating tour packed with hidden gems and historyThe tour gives a very balanced history of Belfast and is packed full of fascinating anecdotes of how connected events has shaped the city to what it is today. I was lucky enough to have Steve as my tour guide who was very knowledgeable and engaging - I highly recommend ! Cheers Steve.
- diane s00We really enjoyed this tour. It’s was great to learn about the birth of Belfast and how it’s evolved and is amazing now.Fantastic tour. Cannot recommend enough. Was great learning about the birth and ever changing city that we felt so welcome in.
- tonymilburn300A very interesting and informative tourA warm welcome from Paul who handed us over to Fin who was a great tour guide and was very knowledgeable, welcomed questions and provided answers to all questions raised. Very interesting and formative tour Well done Fin
- 827cathryng00Very enjoyable and informativeThanks to Steve for a very enjoyable & informative talk on our Best of Belfast tour . The radio was a great help as my hearing isn’t the best ! Some excellent stories and even time for a coffee break
- ted10600We had a great tour with any amount of sights to see great value for moneySteven was very informative and made the walk very enjoyable and interesting and he was ready to answer any questions we had and took time
- gillydUk00An Excellent TourA very good way to learn more about Belfast. Our guide James was very welcoming and friendly and certainly informative; the pace was doable and we were able to get coffee along the way. A very enjoyable way of seeing the City!
- J408SSsuec00Walking Tour of BelfastStevan was a great guide very knowledgeable and clear to hear and understand. Tour was kept to centre of Belfast so not miles and Mike's to walk.
- R9958UTjerrym00Hand warmers, history and hidden gemsOur guide, Steve, painted a vivid picture of the city with an informative and humorous talk on its history and architecture. He revealed hidden corners and brought out colourful figures from the city’s past. Nothing was too much trouble - on a chilly damp morning he even had hand warmers ready to combat the cold!
- bartl27900Belfast walking tourGreat tour. Lots of interesting history. Steve was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed his hidden history stories. A must do in Belfast.
- GrandTour14547900Gang on Tour 2023Steve Malone gave us a fabulous tour of Belfast City, we would thoroughly recommend this tour! Full of fascinating history and facts.
- OldeWorldGirl00Woven with so many good yarns, this “Best of” tour is tops!Book this trip to help spin together the many personal connections and historical places that make Belfast such a fascinating place to visit! A hearty shout out for DC tours, and my superb guide, Steve, a guy who’s not only passionate about local history but the people who made it here. Steve has a talent for making history come to life as a story worth pulling up a chair to take in and savor. Slowly. Most visitors to Belfast likely arrive here with plans to learn more about the two Ts: its Titanic history and “Trouble”d past. There’s so much more here worth discovering which would otherwise be lost without a good guide. Steve exceeded my expectations, connecting a smattering of small dots laid over the city, from its geological significance and favorability for trade to the ethnic groups that have called Northern Ireland home and how historical events across the Channel impacted life here for so many generations in so many many different ways. I found particularly interesting his correlations to American history, being a Yank myself, and realized how intimately our histories, and that of this particular region, are tied together as well. My favorite part of the tour was seeing Steve interweave current day life in Belfast for young people with historic events in a matter of fact way, for everyone has a story worth telling. I can only imagine, for a long time local, how much fun it is to bring these stories to new visitors with few expectations like myself and watch our eyes open wide as we realize how much is here to discover, if only you have some threads and knowledgeable hands to weave it all together. Outstanding job!!
- SimoneO_1100Don’t miss this tour with Stevan!Stevan was brilliant. His knowledge was phenomenal and delivered in an unbiased way. He gladly took our many questions
- sjk47000Tour of BelfastSteve gave us a wonderful tour and historical overview of Belfast. He was so informative and welcoming of all questions. As it was my first day in Belfast, it gave me a good overview of the layout of the city and places I wanted to go back to and see in depth. It was such a worthwhile tour.

So much of Belfast is wrapped up in its history. I knew very little about The Troubles in Northern Ireland and felt that it would be important to understand this period of time while visiting the city. I signed up for a group tour but had the good luck to be the only person on the tour that day in late January. So I had a personal tour from Paul. His knowledge of The Troubles was outstanding and he took me through historic points throughout the city center. Paul was very patient with all of my questions and went out of his way to make sure that I had a feel for what the city and its people had gone through for such a long period of time. I highly recommend that any visitor to Belfast sign up with DC Tours to learn the background of the present city today.

This guided walk was actually called 'A History of Terror' and it involved walking to a number of places in Belfast city centre which all contributed to the tapestry of 'The Troubles'.
Our guide was Paul who was extremely engaging and had an encyclopaedic knowledge of events during that troubled time.
I was last in Belfast in 1986 as a member of the British Army so coming back was both strange and comforting. Strange because I can now go anywhere without looking over my shoulder and comforting because the dark days of bombings and shootings are now largely consigned to the history books. It's also good to see that the incredibly warm and friendly people of this province now have the opportunity to just get on with their lives and leave the hate behind. That's what I hope anyway.
I thought I knew quite a bit about The Troubles but Paul filled in many gaps in my knowledge. I was also struck by how intimate The Troubles were with so much going on in such a small area. It seemed every street, every corner, every cut through has a tale to tell and not always a good one. Paul brought it all to life which only someone who lived through it all probably could.
Thank you Paul for helping make my return to this great city such a memorable one.

Were fortunate to have a guided walk with Paul. He provided deep insight, clear explanations of the initial period of "the Troubles" without oversimplification or bias. I had read a little to prepare but his , sometimes very personal , experiences gave an element of clarity to a very complex environment and period. 3 hours flew by as we hung on to every word. Paul was not just knowledgeable, his personal experiences together with his work as a reconciler and mediator brought another dimension to our understanding. I read continuously on the journey home from the book list DC Tours recommended. What had previously been a confusing blend of dates, names and tragedies became much clearer. Thank you.
We have travelled widely over the past 30+ years and have a very high personal bar for our guides that is rarely met. Its difficult chosing a tour company and the individual guide is usually a matter of good fortune . I researched companies as carefully as I could on-line and DC were an excellent choice which I do not hesitate to recommend. Then we hit the jackpot with Paul. He joins a small and elite pantheon of guides who have made our lives richer and helped us understand just a little bit more.
Thanks and all the best

Our guide Paul was super friendly and helpful. He clearly had an in depth knowledge of the history around the troubles and spoke about it in a way which was non-biased and easy to understand. He also welcomed questions and answered them all well.
Would definitely recommend this tour as a way of exploring the city and learning about some of its history.

I have been visiting my family just outside of Belfast and have never really explored Belfast until my family and I had some free time. We decided to book the tour as we wanted to learn more about the troubles and explore Belfast City Centre. I was a little apprehensive as I know from experience some tours can be quite boring and the weather wasn’t great. However, this tour completely exceeded my expectations. Mark was amazing, his passion and knowledge left my family and I captivated. As a budding historian, I was absolutely in awe of what occurred during the troubles and I found it so harrowing but fascinating to be walking in the footsteps of the tragedies that befell the people of Belfast. Even despite being absolutely freezing I was still mind blown and kept so engaged by this tour and Mark’s knowledge. Even my Mum who isn’t a big history fan found the tour so interesting. Honestly could not recommend this tour enough and of course Mark and his passion for what he does. Thank you so very much for a great couple of hours and an incredible but of course shocking insight into beautiful and historic Belfast. I will be coming in the Summer and doing this tour again, it was that interesting for me! I’ve been reading about the troubles as soon as got home and can’t wait to continue learning more. It was great that Mark gave us cards to gather more information and the ‘gift’ at the end was a nice touch (don’t want to spoil the surprise)! Thank you again for such an awesome experience.

Really enjoyed this informative tour with Paul and James. They were so knowledgeable about Belfast’s troubled past, both retelling the history in a balanced and engaging way. The walk was very easy going, so suitable for all. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get an insight into this lovely city’s past divisions. The horrors are brought to life, but you are left with a feeling of hope for the future.
Thank you Paul and James, it was a morning well spent.

Honestly, this was so enjoyable. As someone who grew up in Belfast towards the end of the troubles there was so much I didn't know happened and learnt about today.
The fact that you walked to the actual places made each piece of information stand out and more memorable. I was able to go home to my parents and talk to them about places and pieces the history that they lived through in the 70's.
James, our tour guide was very well spoken, incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and really took the time to show and summarise this cities vast history remarkably well in just over 2.5 hours. Thank you!!!
Extra fun fact: The headsets provided to amplify the tour guides voice was genius! I will be booking more tours with D.C tours. Great value for money. I highly recommend to people visiting the city and people who want to know a bit more about the place they grew up in.
Thanks again!

Brilliant guide (Mark) took us on a tour of Belfast's troubled past, beginning at City Hall, into the commercial area via Royal Avenue and over to the Cathedral Quarter, then finishing on the banks of the Lagan, stopping at seemingly innocuous locations that turn out to be drenched in the history of the place, as well as some relevant examples of street art. You don't go in anywhere, there are no memorials to view (and the reason for that is explained). However this is not a criticism: apart from a few well-chosen photographic props, the tour's success rests solely on the impressive expertise and experience of the guide, who, it should be said, strives for neutrality in this account of 'The Troubles'. The story is told from the point of view of us ordinary civilians – with a bit of healthy humorous cynicism thrown in for good measure. Highly recommended.

Torrential rain on a Sunday greeted my friend and I as we went for the DC Tour of Belfast. Most would have called the whole thing off, but we decided that we should persevere despite the weather.
Our concern about the weather did not however dampen the spirit of our tour guide, James. A guy filled with great enthusiasm and who gave us the sense that we were about to embark on an adventure! Little did we know this is exactly what we would get. A portrait of the Troubles of Belfast was intermingled with history and local stories. A knowledge that would have been otherwise hidden was uncovered for us, adding to the rich tapestry of the storyline as we wandered the streets of this city.
History that stretched back to the 1600s gave us a complete overview and better understanding of things as they occurred during the modern day problems.
Each street and alley way led you to a new understanding of the reasoning behind some of the atrocities and the resulting impact for the people caught up in it.
DO NOT be put off by that thought. All of this is delivered in a very professional manner. Serious when called for but witty when the time was right.
You really must experience this tour. It is certainly one of the most informative I have ever been on and is worth every penny. Quite, quite wonderful.

Despite travelling to Belfast several times over the last few years, there are always new things to see and learn. We booked the History of Terror tour with DC Tours after finding them through google to finish our latest trip. James was our guide and he was friendly, down to earth and very knowledgeable. The knowledge of the people who lived through The Troubles is obviously second to none and it is delivered in an impartial way despite the guide's own personal beliefs and experiences. We learned and saw things that you wouldn't if you were just walking round the city yourself, and this tour focuses specifically on things that happened in the city centre during the Troubles.
We'll be returning to Belfast in the future and would definitely use DC Tours again for another one of their tours. Thanks for a very interesting morning in your wonderful city.

Hi there. Yes you can pay cash on the day of the tour. However you need to ring in advance t give details of the number in your party and what date you wish to take the tour. You can then arrange to meet the Tour guide in Belfast and pay him/her just before the tour begins. Hope that helps.

Hi all, I plan to visit Belfast in July and I want to join a historical tour to learn more about the Troubles. I read some really good reviews about Dead Centre but for some reason I can't access their website to read about the details of the tour. I presume Dead Centre is still in business as there are reviews as recent as a few days ago? If so, can the staff check if the website is functional? Many thanks.

Hi jmtyu, Thanks for getting in touch, we are indeed still in business, and I've just checked our website and it's up and working. If you try searching for 'DC Tours Belfast' that should normally work. I don't think we are allowed to give direct links on TripAdvisor booking pages unfortunately.

Hi, the tour lasts around 2 hours but you actually don’t walk that far. It’s a slow amble, with lots of stops at important sites (with places to sit). Have a look at the ‘What to expect’ section on here. It’s not a taxing walk at all. In our experience the two hours just flew!
Hi there,
A friend and I were thinking of partaking in this walking tour on Sunday 21 April. We see that it has received very positive reviews and quite keen on it. We just wanted to ensure that it is taking place on this day at the same time as always!

Aidan

Just check the website, very user friendly and you will need to book in advance anyway.
