About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- ClaireB54420 contributionsHighly recommendI highly recommend taking this black cab tour. Our driver and tour guide Billy gave us a detailed history account through his own experience having grown up in Belfast. Billy was an absolute gent and we would highly recommend taking a tour with him. The tour was so informative and very interesting and it is a must for anyone visiting Belfast.Written 19 February 2025
- jamesmD8063UM0 contributionsA must for any traveler to IrelandHighly recommend! Barry, our driver/guide was awesome, a walking passionate encyclopedia of Irish history. We got a full 2 hours worth of college lecture. As an American, I only knew a little about the Troubles and was way short on the history, background and gritty details. (Americans don't know much about Cromwell - I do now!). The whole thing is complex and confusing. Seeing the murals, gates and walls is an eyeopener. - Yorkieian0 contributionsA must do trip to gain an insight into a disturbing part of our history. The tour was fantastic. Knowledgeable and non biased and gave the full background on the various places we visited. A harrowing and at times disturbing experience that I couldn't believe happened on our doorstep. Paula was a fantastic guide and I would highly recommend.Written 12 November 2024
- bausbb0 contributionsNot worth the moneyCertainly this tour will give you a very one-sided view and opinion of the conflict in Belfast as Barry obviously sympathizes with the IRA. Nevertheless we missed a self-reflected point of view as well as answers to our questions (e.g. reconciliation process, ehy are the walls still up etc.). I can not agree with all the five star ratings. You pay a lot of money to hear that British soldiers killed unarmed people…… sorry, but not worth it.Written 12 October 2024
- 706candacew0 contributionsExcellent guide. Thorough overview.Paula was an excellent guide. This is a well curated tour with a lot of information both inside and outside the car with graphics and a thorough review of the history of The Troubles.Written 6 October 2024
- David C0 contributionsTaxi Tour West Belfast with PaulaThis was one of the best tourist experiences ever. We were welcomed by Paula, who took us to our comfortable vehicle. We then had a 2 hour journey supported by the most informative tour of West Belfast . We would highly recommendWritten 21 September 2024
- yfbable0 contributionsAn important part of visiting BelfastOur guide was Paula. She is a gracious , friendly articulate and informative guide. We felt immediately comfortable. She took the time to give us a concise history of the English Irish conflict going back centuries. That helped give us a far clearer understanding of the recent history of “the troubles” . Be prepared ; it is an emotional tour but so worth your time . We recommend Paula highly ; she’s goes above and beyond!Written 20 September 2024
- ericaf4060 contributionsAmazing private tour of beautiful Causeway Coastal Route from Belfast!Amazing private tour with Barry! He catered the tour to our needs and wants and was very funny and informative along the way! Highly recommend.Written 20 September 2024
- mjamensky0 contributionsAmazing Tour with JoelWe took the political tour with Joe, who was amazingly honest, extremely informative, and provided a very balanced perspective. He shared his family experiences, answered all of our questions, and we had an absolutely lovely time. Thank you so much Joe!Written 15 September 2024
- 362jacec0 contributionsAn essential for those wanting to more deeply understand the history of the troubles in BelfastWhat a fascinating tour - Barry is a hoot! He has a wealth of knowledge and answers all questions that we posed. The morning flew by and Barry generously extended our time as the conversation kept flowing. We thoroughly recommend this tour as a must do when in Belfast.Written 5 September 2024
- CatWorth198380 contributionsA must for those seeking a real deep dive into history. This tour is a must for those seeking a real deep dive into the complex and nuanced history that surrounds Belfast & Northern Ireland. Barry (our tour guide) was a font of both academic knowledge and lived experience. For those with a continuing interest he is also able to recommend a number of books , films and documentaries on the subject. Five stars!Written 1 September 2024
- RobertI370 contributionsThorough, interesting history of the conflict. If you are looking to learn and gain some insight into the history of the conflict in Northern Ireland, this is definitely a tour you must take. Barry gives an interesting and thorough history going back to the 1600s that explains the roots of the period we know as The Troubles. This is presented from both sides of the wall. I’ve taken other tours of this area and Barry’s is by far the most in depth. In going back as far as he did, Barry gave me insights into my own family history and possible reasons for their emigration to America.Written 29 August 2024
- CraigRPearson0 contributionsEye-opening insights into England’s troubled story in IrelandWhere to start? I won’t rehash a list of the sites visited. I will say, the three hours absolutely flew by. Centuries before the United Kingdom was created, England’s Anglo-Norman rulers made Ireland their first colony. That began a struggle for independence and freedom that lasts to this day. Weaving such a vast, abstract history into a relatable and often harrowing narrative of a community under siege takes an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject, a talent for storytelling and above all a passion that these histories be preserved for future generations. Barry has all of this in spades and navigated me around sites familiar perhaps in name but nothing beats hearing accounts first-hand and standing where so much of the fight for rights and freedom unfolded. Thank you for helping me to understand better.Written 12 August 2024
- nicolevO8041QR0 contributionsBelfast Taxi TourExceptional tour! Our Tour Guide, Barry, was very knowledgeable, interesting to hear his experiences. He did go out of his way to share, after the tour, a list of Movies to watch. I had not been aware of a few of them and looking forward to watching. Definitely would recommend this tour if in Belfast.Written 23 July 2024

The places we visited in our six-day trip to Northern Ireland exceeded our expectations, beginning with the Giant's Causeway. The weather in early October was perfect, and we were awestruck by the landscape and the natural rock formations. We spent a few hours outdoors taking photos of the vistas, taking photos for other tourists, and exploring the interior building. The gift shop is delightful, with cards, shirts, upscale apparel items and a wide variety of books for all ages. I bought a beautiful silk tie for my husband, two books for grandkids, and an assortment of postcards that I framed when we got home.
My son enjoyed walking along the oceanside pillars, while I hiked path along the bottom of the mountainside. Many tourists spent their time climbing the pathway that leads from the beach all the way to the mountain top. Again, the weather was just perfect. This was our number 1 choice to visit in Ulster, and it didn't disappoint. I'm going to write about a few other sites in another review, "Autumn at Dunluce Castle".

We were so lucky to have an amazing guide Barry to show my son and I the wonders and share his passion of the history of his beautiful country.
He took us to both the usual tourist hot spots of the Giants Causeway, the rope bridge and Dunluce Castle but we also got treated to some of the less visited sites.
We had a magical, funny and amazing day.

Be aware that the Coach operators at no notice changes the itinerary and does not include the items advertised . They have known for some time that busses would not be allowed in to some of the sites and still they have not removed it from their advertising .
Definitely not living up to expectations and surprised if the false adverts .

I found this tour option in TripAdvisor for $71 and change. When I went to book it, it said $426 and change. What's the deal?

We will be flying in to Belfast municipal airport at 9:15 a.m.we are planning to check our luggage at the Hilton and then will be ready to go. Our primary interest is Giants Causeway. Hiking and spending time looking at at this wonder. Game of Thrones is ok if time permits. But we do not want to waste time at Bushnells whiskey. Is this possible for the private tour. Otherwise, we should find other transport to the Causeway. Please advise.

Hello, I understand that if my husband and I book this tour, we will be the only customers and that we can customize the tour. How would we go about doing that? Also, is the time limit fixed at 7 hours or might it run a bit longer? Thank you.
