    Belfast -- a divided city
Our guide, Paul was very knowledgeable, not just about the history in books, but the lived experience of the times. The tour was well organized, and the headsets came in very handy on the noisy, crowded city streets. This was a walking tour covering a small area, not a tour going out into different neighborhood blocks, so there are different tours for that, but we learned an incredible amount about what the city was like during the troubles, and how this impacts life even a quarter of a century later.

    Excellent tour
Such an incredibly interesting and fascinating historical walking tour. Our guide was amazing and had first hand knowledge of what he was talking about. I cannot recommend this tour enough! I believe our guide’s name was David, sorry it’s been a while, but he was the best!

    Best tour ever
Amazing tour with Finn as our guide, so knowledgeable and polite. He got our total attention from the first minute he started talking. We learned so much about the city and "The troubles" and I think that for those who want to know more about the history of Belfast, they cannot miss this tour. It was the best 2.5 hours of our weekend, I will come back and do it again! Thank you so much.

This tour is really important and fun!
This tour makes sure that details, spots, names and faces surrounding the Troubles are not forgotten while simultaneously not picking a side. When visiting Belfast this is an essential part of understanding some of the city’s and Northern Irelands history. Our guide Steve answered every question patiently and made sure everyone was comfortable. Even though he talked for over 2 hours he never seemed tired and delivered every information with precision. Feel free to pick his brain he’s got so many valuable insights! Thank you for the amazing tour and for keeping history alive! Definitely will do more research on the topic in the future!

    A sensitive subject handled brilliantly
This is a fantastic tour. The local guide was very be knowledgeable and brought great insight into Belfast's old and recent history. The tour guide naming the victims caught in the crossfire of the troubles made this about people - not statistics - and the impact this had on an entire population. A very informative and empathetic tour, that handles a difficult subject with sensitivity and dignity. I would highly recommend for anyone who was wants to know that there is light at the end of the dark tunnels in this world.

Informative, balanced, and above all - moving
This was one of the best walking guides I’ve been on in any city I’ve visited (and there have been many). Steve, the guide, was nothing short of brilliant. Facing up to a subject matter that has ample potential for conflict - and where emotions could have run high - was never going to be easy but Steve struck a balance worthy of a high wire trapeze artist This was a balanced, informative and fascinating history of the causes of the “conflict” in the 12 century to modern day Belfast and the hopes and aspirations for future peace. At times I was moved to near tears when hearing of individual victims of atrocities - on both sides - This tour should be at the top of the “to do” list for anyone who has the faintest interest in the history of this beautiful city and its marvellous peoples

Excellent tour which should not be missed if you want to understand Belfast.
This was an excellent tour. It was a short walk around the city centre, starting with an TED Talk level overview of the history of Ireland, then a tour around some very nondescript locations in Belfast City Centre where incidents happened, with our guide painting a detailed and fascinating picture of each event, including names and timelines and interesting details, photographic material and a seemingly infinite patience for questions. Most of the stories were brutal and shocking, but if you're signing up for a "terror tour" you're already expecting that. What really made it stand out was our guide, Paul Donnelly, who has a wonderful way of breaking your natural sense of horror at the stories with a perfectly-timed joke or distraction. Paul really made the tour for us, and if you're lucky enough to get him as a guide you'll see why. His life history and community/civil involvement make him really the perfect person to give you this tour. If you're looking to understand the history of this town, I could not recommend it more.

A History of Terror Belfast Tour
It was a fascinating tour, led by James. He studied politics and was brought up in Belfast during the Troubles, so really knew his stuff!!! Definitely something to do to understand these troubled times. Northern Ireland has much to educate the world with how to attain peace when it feels impossible to achieve, as experienced in many parts of the world today.

Good experience, but more walking would help to keep out the cold
Booked based on TA reviews and enjoyed the tour with lots of information. Weather was cold which whilst the tour company can do nothing about and warns you to wrap up, for a walking tour there was lots of standing around for long periods which was not conducive for the weather and more movement would have helped. Felt a little pressure into giving a review as understand it generates income but felt unless giving 5* don’t do it! Would recommend as it gave a lot of information but be prepared to stand around

    Engaging, fun and thoughtful
A vivid, humane and engaging tour. James managed the feat of bringing a difficult recent past to life with humour but also tact, sensitivity and thoughtfulness. A fantastic experience for people familiar with Northern Ireland or passing through. Thanks James

We wanted to do a tour of Belfast as we knew little about the city in advance. We were in a small group which made it easy to see and ask questions. As you would expect our tour guide, Steve, was friendly, knowledgable and witty. The walk was an easy couple of miles around the city centre with a small break roughly halfway through. It is noisy in the city centre and therefore we were given radio ear pieces to hear the guide more clearly. This is not something we were used to but it worked well. The ear pieces allowed us to easily socially distance and meant the guide didn’t have to shout which made the tour quite subtle (the radios and earpieces were completely clean and sealed when we received them). It was a great tour which was interesting from start to finish. An added bonus was having some of the Line of Duty filming locations pointed out to us on the way round.

Having done quite a number of different tours in Belfast over the years, this was by far the best tour I've been on. Our guide Steve was well informed, interesting and full of witty insights and stories. We got to discover many new parts of the city. Steve's accounts of Belfast's history were very interesting to listen to during the 2-2.5 hour walk around the city centre. This was a local's story of the city and its past.
Highly recommended!

I signed up for a 10 am Sunday morning tour with DC Tours in Belfast. My guide was Steve and he was incredible. When the rest of my party decided to sleep in, I had the pleasure of walking through Dublin with Steve watching the City wake up, while listening to stories that included facts, data. and quotes, but were notable for the way Steve brought the history of the city and its people to life. At my request, the tour focused on the "troubles." Steve's flexibility and knowledge made clear that he was not "performing" a canned tour. Steve's depth of knowledge and the addition of some personal anecdotes made the time fly by. The information was fascinating and well delivered. Next time I am in Belfast, I will definitely sign up for another of this company's tours.

We had an absolutely fantastic time on the Best of Belfast Walking Tour. As this was our first visit to Belfast the tour was invaluable in helping us to understand the history of the city, which really enriched our whole stay. One of our party had been living in Belfast for the past few years and even he learnt so much about where he lived in. Our guide Steve was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. He could answer every question we could think to ask and more, and his witty commentary made the tour even more fun. A top guy! I would definitely recommend the Dead Centre walking tours to anyone visiting Belfast.

Although we had previously spent a half day by ourselves in the Cathedral Quarter of the City, this tour added so much more in the way of history, information and understanding and is thoroughly recommended. Our guide, Steve, drew our attention to things we had not previously noticed or understood and provided a fascinating commentary on the history of Belfast from its very beginnings, up to and including recent TV filming locations, whilst weaving in aspects of social history and individual people whose beliefs and actions had big impacts. There was also some insight into lesser-known circumstances surrounding the Titanic disaster. As a group of people from England, we had certainly never been taught much of this history in school! Finding a couple of hours in your schedule to join this tour is one of the top things to do in Belfast.

Did a Belfast walking tour with James this month, really excellent few hours. Lived in Belfast all my life and didn't expect to learn anything but was amazed to find out I was wrong - I've been walking past things for years without actually seeing them! James provided a really excellent, perfectly balanced summary of the earliest history of the city, up to the present day, and all delivered with an easy manner and a generous sense of humour! The earpieces provided were a boon, as you didn't have to keep right behind him to hear what he was saying. Covid precautions were excellent, and we finished off with lunch in a city centre pub. A very relaxing and informative morning... considering doing another tour with these guys now, since they do seem to know what they're talking about!

I felt guilty about dragging the guide away from his family on a chilly Sunday morning when I realised it was just for. However, if there was any resentment he certainly didn't show it as his passion and pride for his home city of Belfast shone through and became infectious and greatly exceeded the allotted time. Thank you Steve Malone for your knowledge and patience. A great tour that I can recommend unreservedly.

Extremely informative and engaging tour led by the wonderful James. I’m not sure how he keeps all of the information in his brain, but having lived here all my life I learned so much about my home city that I didn’t know, from its foundation to how it is still changing today. James is clearly passionate about his subject and I suspect he could fill much longer than two and a half hours with his entertaining facts and anecdotes. I might have to go back and take notes next time! And I’ll remember to look up!

We had the luxury of a small group with an amazing guide Steve. I have been on many tours during my current vacation & I liked that they offered an ear piece to hear Steve as we walked through the town.
He explained the history of Belfast & the struggles that faced this beautiful city. He showed us some important buildings for the struggles that faced Belfast. Within the tour we are able to see some amazing murals painted by talented artists.
If you are in Belfast, I would highly recommend this tour & hopefully you are as lucky as we were to get Steve as your guide.
