Highlights
  • Get off the beaten path on a day trip from Edinburgh
  • Visit sights where fewer crowds are guaranteed
  • Enjoy both guided sightseeing and free time to explore
  • Avoid the stress of car hire and navigation
What to expect
  • Meet your guide in central Edinburgh and travel in a top of the range, 16-seat Mercedes mini-coach to the Kelpies, passing Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, on the way. Stop at the Kelpies monument for an up-close look at the 30-meter high horse heads. The sculptures stand as a testament to the horsepower that drove the industrial development of central Scotland. Afterward, take a back road to Loch Lomond, traveling through the protected lands of Scotland’s first national park: Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Follow a scenic route along the 22-mile-long (35-km) loch’s eastern shore, which is dominated by the oft-climbed Ben Lomond. Then travel to where the Lowlands meet the Highlands, into the Trossachs or ‘The Highlands in Miniature’. Take in a stunning landscape of steep mountains, shimmering lochs, and thick forests on a nature walk with your guide. Break for lunch (own expense) in the village of Aberfoyle, located within the National Park, before continuing to the city of Stirling, where you can visit one of Scotland’s most magnificent castles. Opt to take an interior tour independently (own expense) to learn about the castle's history. Your small-group day trip concludes with the return drive to Edinburgh.

Very enjoyable
Really enjoyed this tour and had a very nice day. Our driver, Barney, made it extra enjoyable with his interesting stories and sense of humour. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see a bit of the beautiful country.

Our guide Charly was really knowledgable and passionate about everything scottish and he also played us very relevant music to the places (still having Loch Lomond in my head, great song!) Tour was really beautiful, even if the rain was in Loch Lomond

Good tour with lots of stops
I really enjoyed this tour. The time given to explore was generous, so I didn't feel hurried along and felt I could really take in the beauty of the Kelpies, Loch Lomond and Stirling Castle. Charlie, our driver and guide, was outstanding: full of knowledge and very passionate about Scottish history. The day flew by.

Lochs and Castles Best Tour 1-Day
Sep 2021 • Family
My daughter and I took this one-day tour of castles and lochs and it was very wonderful and we would highly recommend! Jim Scot was our guide and he was very entertaining and provided lots of background details and made stops for us to take pictures and your small towns. Booking was easy and the tour meeting site was easy to find. Do it!

Rabbie's Tours
Sep 2021
Rabbie's was recommended in "Rick Steves Scotland" book, so we booked it.

It was a wonderful day, but made even more wonderful because Fiona was our driver/guide.

Fiona was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. She even gave us some recommendations for the rest of our stay in Edinburgh which turned out to be excellent.

It is without hesitation that we recommend Rabbie's, and if you're lucky enough to have Fiona as your guide, you're in for a fantastic day.

Excellent trip
Sep 2021 • Couples
My partner and I went on this trip on Saturday and loved it. Each part of the day was different and enjoyable with a good amount of time at each location. Our guide Jim provided great detail about various aspects of Scottish history. It was clear he was very passionate about Scotland and wanted to share this with the group. Excellent trip made even better by Jim.
