      Great tour!
Tour was just what I expected. It was well arranged and the guides were great. It was nice to have shorter stops during the bus drie for a little walks and toilet breaks. I highly recommend even though we didn't see Nessie.

John was my guide, very nice guy and knowledgable about Scottish history. I did the Outlander tour and he even surprised us with a Jamie cut off. Over all extremely pleasant and dun day.

Best first time tour of the Highlands!
As someone unfamiliar with Scotland and its unique culture / topography, the Highland Explorer tours was perfect and the stops were also well-paced. Our guide Tiegan was absolutely delightful and kind - making sure we were all doing well throughout the tour and made an extra effort to take our wishes into consideration and see some extra sites we got to see due to the good weather. Would highly recommend doing this if you (like me) are unsure about traversing the highlands on your own for the first time!

      Friendly and active tour!
Tiegen was such a good tour guide. Everyone was so friendly and it was crazy how many stops and views we crammed into a three day tour. We drove for 6+ hours and Tiegen's stories made it go by so easily and smoothly. I could tell she really cared that we had a good time and a good introduction to Scotland. Also, we got super lucky but the weather was amazing and we had blue skies every day.

      Money well spent!
Had an absolutely fantastic 5-day tour around Scotland. There really is something for everyone on this tour- beautiful scenery, castles, boat tour, historic museums, cute towns to walk around in, delicious food, friendly people, whisky. Our tour guide, Dusty, really made our entire trip. He really knows the history of Scotland and is able to deliver it in a way that keeps you engaged- and laughing. I am so glad we chose to do this bus tour and I would 100% recommend it to anyone who asks. Our tour was the 3rd week in February, which we were nervous was going to be cold and yucky the whole time. We ended up really having only 1 full day of rain and wind and the rest of the week was pretty beautiful with occasional showers. All of our stops were quiet and not a single line for food/toilets/exhibits- which I hear is very different in the summer months. Highly, highly, highly recommend. And thanks Dusty for making an extra stop so we could see some wee highland coos before the tour ended!

Great day trip to Stirling Castle.
Outstanding tour! Really enjoyed Paul's friendly banter. We really enjoyed all the stories of Scottish history and how he pointed out different views of monuments such as The Kelpies. Paul let us on a walk up a hill for a good view of the lake as well.

Went on the one-day Loch Ness tour from Edinburgh to Fort Augustus. My first steps in the Highlands, and it was stunning. Beautiful landscapes seen from the road - and for once, you prefer to admire them from inside the bus rather than outside, as it is freezing in January.
It was a long day with a lot of miles to cover, but our driver Gill made sure it would not be too tiresome with her great knowledge of the history of the places we were driving through, with some stops in a few places on our way to and back from Loch Ness. She also played very good Scottish songs, and not just pipes and fiddles, don't worry! So that the time on the bus was well balanced between listening to Gill giving us information and sharing about the history, and quieter moments gazing outside and listening to Amy McDonald or The Proclaimers.
Amazing cruise on Loch Ness when we arrived at Fort Augustus with very funny and interesting guide James, and we were in the warmth which definitely was a valued asset.
So a long day, yes, but a great day!

We went on the Loch Ness Explorer Day Tour from Edinburgh and our guide was Caitlin. As a guide, Caitlin was phenomenal. We were greeted with her warm smile on a bit cloudy summer morning in August and her energy is delightful. Her knowledge of Scottish history, Geography, and culture is brilliant and Amazing.
We are constantly amazed at how she managed to keep up that energy throughout the whole 12 hours the tour took. She mingled her stories with nice music which is pretty much apt to the story. I will definitely recommend Caitlin and it was through her that we fell in love with Scotland, the country that she obviously have a deep love affair with. Well done and hope to go on other tours lead by you again! Kudos to her.

A wonderful day trip provided by Scot with a great array of stops, information, cultural insights and musical interludes(led by Scot of course). Even having to hand sanitize regularly and to wear a mask did not detract from the enjoyment and feeling of safety on this full day tour. I would thoroughly recommend Scottish Explorers and plan to return again and use them for trips in the future.

Our driver Scot was absolutely fantastic, be warned that 12 hours is a loooong time on a bus, but Scot was very entertaining. He also enjoys to sing, which is fab when the bus has been silent for a few minutes.

Highlight of the trip was finding out that Scot knew all of the words to the famous Monty Python scene at Doune Castle.

The views were incredible, Loch Ness was just a dream to see.
I would recommend doing the boat tour as well.

I would definitely do this trip again! Thanks!!

Fantastic social distancing and felt very covid secure

My friend and I had an excellent experience on our tour of the Highlands. Steve P was a very knowledgeable guide who, although both my friend and I are Scottish, managed to teach us a few new things! Steve pointed out filming locations, and shared lots about Scottish History and how it relates to the landscape we drove through.

Scotland is beautiful in the sun, snow and rain so don't let the weather put you off. We were exceptionally lucky and had some great photo opportunities, particularly at Glencoe.

The tour itself is predominantly spent on the bus but there are enough rest breaks to make it comfortable. The highlight for me was the stop in Fort Augustus and the boat trip on Loch Ness (which cost extra). There was plenty of interesting insight into facts about the loch and how they use sonar.

Steve P also made some excellent breakfast and ice cream recommendations, Thank you!

Tip: there is not enough time for fish and chips in pitlochry in July (we ended up with 6 minutes to eat). The lunch provided is basic, but if you get a breakfast croissant at Mhor Bread in Callander you won't mind!

The driver, Rich, was extremely patient, charasmatic, and informative. The bus was well kept and regularly sanatized in line with COVID protocols. The driver did everything in his power to make a long trip confortable and enjoyable, and provided exceptional insight into the rich history of the Highlands.

Scot was a fantastic guide/driver/story teller (and Covid-19 compliant!). Our whole family really enjoyed the day. Scot provided a wonderful array of factual and funny stories to keep us entertained and informed on the diverse array of things, from City to Countryside, that we stopped at or drove past. This day trip is a brilliant taster trip to help provide ideas for future adventures. Thanks for a great day out.

Great tour of the Highlands with Calum. So so nice to have someone native to the area talking all about it with passion and loads of interest. He was brilliant banter, and we absolutely loved the atmosphere he created as well as his dedicated Scottish Spotify playlist for the journey.

We didn’t know in advance, but it was a smaller blue mini bus rather than one of those big touring buses and we had a small intimate group with lots of room on the bus too.

The lunch in a packed brown bag was a lovely touch, we had cheese and pickle! I brought a banana and apple for fruit, and you need to bring your own bottle of water but that’s good as there’s less plastic.

You don’t feel like a number on this tour, there’s an excellent personal touch throughout.

There’s no bathroom on the bus but that was ok because we took good stops and rest breaks for sightseeing and to stretch the legs. 30 minute stops sound way longer until you’re on them, believe me! So our advice would be head straight for the toilet and then do your other bits and if ordering food, get it to go! We went for dinner when we came back from the tour, which we would also recommend, no time for dinner.

Note: The company ‘Highland explorer tours’ really have it sown up because they also run ‘Haggis’ tours. We booked via phone with Highland explorer tours (customer service was really lovely because the website didn’t accommodate our nationality as Irish or the +353 on the phone section but they are updating they said) but the tour seemed to go as Haggis for the trip despite the name on the bus. There was no issue with this, just flagging it as I was a little confused!

Calum was our guide and he was awesome and made the trip more joyful. It was a nice way to have the taste of the Highlands if you don't have much time. but most of the time is spent on the bus sit (what I expected) and the one thing made me disappointed is that I didn't see the hairy cows that are pictured on the attraction and gave me expectations of seeing them. I would recommend the company overall, but would try and choose a 2 or 3 days trip to appreciate the beautiful scenaries calmly.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to review your recent tour with us. It's great to hear that you appreciated Calum as a guide and were able to see a snippet of the beautiful Scottish highlands! I'm sorry that you feel let down by some aspects, for example the hairy cows. The guides always do their best to include this in tours when possible, so I'm sorry that you didn't get the chance. Hopefully we can see you again another time and we will show you the hairy cows :) Best, Paula

The driver (Conner) was very good. He helped pass the time to and from Loch Ness. The sights were great along the way. The actual “cruise” on the boat wasn’t very long, about 45 minutes maybe. You have the option to not get on the boat, but either way you have about 1.5 hours before it’s time to leave. The only drawback was the length of time in the bus to and from the Highlands. We knew it was going to be long, and accepted the trip anyway. This should be a concern for those who need to stop often. The bus driver did his best to keep the normal length of time between bathroom breaks to 1.5 hours. The tip I can provide is to bring change, as in loose change. Several stops had a charge for the bathroom, 30-50 pence. Now, if you stop in a cafe to purchase coffee then you are allowed to use the bathroom, but then you set up the need to stop again! Also, smaller cafes’ had 1 bathroom to share, so now your time is even more restrictive.
