- 752remcos0 contributionsUnforgettable Highland/Loch Ness TourHerewith we would like to thank Heart of Scotland Tours for the unforgettable tour we made with our family with you through the Highlands and Loch Ness last Sunday 22nd of December where Rodey was driving. We have really enjoyed the trip and saw how beautifull Scotland is and of course with the unlimited knowledge of your guide about the tales from the past (sorry I forgot his name).Written 29 December 2024
- mariabP2098ZV0 contributions3 Day Isle of Skye and the Highlands TourFirst and foremost, DO NOT HESITATE to book a tour with this fabulous company. My husband and I think it was the best we have ever been on and are already planning a return trip. Second and equally as important, try to get Calum as your guide. I do not have enough English or Gaelic or Scottish words to describe how amazing and lovely this man is. He navigated us like a pro through the twisty, rainy, windy magnificent highlands while captivating us with historical facts, folklore, funny stories and his love of hiking and whisky...all the while taking time to get to know each of us and make sure we were happy with the days itinerary. We had a small group and we all got along famously and met up at night for drinks and dinner. Truly a memory that we will cherish. We saw many incredible places, some expected and some a wonderful surprise, like the wee Chocolates of Glenshiel shop on the way to Skye.Written 25 December 2024
- 502aisyahl0 contributionsNo regrets with this one!So glad we chose this tour! Calum, our guide, was friendly, engaging and informative, and he shared so many stories throughout the tour. The places he brought us to were beautiful, of course. The bus itself was clean and comfortable and I loved that there were only a few of us so the entire tour felt intimate and cosy. We had snowfall on the way back and Calum navigated the roads so well and safely. There were enough stops along the way for rest and phototaking. We enjoyed the boat ride on Loch Ness too and the pretty views there too.Written 10 December 2024
- so_SHE_goes0 contributionsCallum captures allCallum is a remarkable storyteller, is just brilliant. He’s insightful, knowledgeable and passionate about his beautiful country, Scotland. 🏴 He was a wonderful guide, making frequent photo stops and pointing out all of the essentials and highlights with rich histories all along the way. This Lock Ness tour was my final tour of my holiday and it was a wonderful way to round it out. On the return back to Edinburgh we encountered significant weather changes and a fair bit of snow! Again, demonstrating his expertise and knowledge of the roads, he drove with caution and consideration, and got us back to Edinburgh safe and sound. This was my second tour with Heart of Scotland, the first being the 5-Day tour (which I highly recommend as well), and it will not be my last!Written 5 December 2024
- Q7246KTelizabetht0 contributionsExcellent experience, highly recommended!Absolutely excellent! We had two business visitors from China, and they both absolutely loved the tour! The company was very easy to organise through, and their administrative staff over the phone were incredibly helpful as well and helped us with making sure our guests didn't get lost in Edinburgh. We had an excellent experience, and I would highly recommend! Thank you very much!Written 24 November 2024
- markpQ3458DT0 contributionsMy husband and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Keith was a wealth of information. Perfect trip!We took a private tour to Isle of Skye and the Scottish Highlands with Keith. It was perfect in every way! Five plus stars!Written 21 November 2024
- kowodo0 contributionsGreat views, rushed tour, driver drove too fastThe views were awesome, classic locations. The tour felt quite rushed which given the distance covered was not too surprising. But the driver tended to drive quite fast and at times we felt unsafe especially when in heavy rain. We also had a large group of 12 other people on the tour leaving only the 2 of us and one other single person as the remaining passengers. Perhaps this group should have been allocated their own separate tour.Written 17 November 2024
- 115shereel0 contributionsOutstanding Tour!Outstanding tour! Our guide, Calum, was very pleasant and very knowledgable. This was our third trip with the Wee Red Bus and will not be the last. They have our highest possible recommendation!Written 28 October 2024
- W6415QMjonathanw0 contributionsA unforgettable experience travelling around Loch Ness and the Highlands with Euan from the Heart of scotland toursFor my first ever visit to Scotland I decided I wanted to explore as much of scotland as I could during my week visit that ended up being six truly breathtaking and fantastic days. I booked the heart of scotland tour day originally for a different day but got emailed asking if I could change the day and I'm so glad I did as not only did I have a fantastic and amazing tour guide as Euan, but he made my last full day in scotland one that I will always cherish and I'm already planning my next visit to Scotland. For those who are instrested I did the day tour of Loch Ness and the Highlands which were truly breathtaking and spectacular. Euan made everyone comfortable and nothing was too much trouble, he made sure we all were comfortable and saw as much of the different lochs and mountains as we could and explained all the history of every place we visited. I would whole heartily recommend Euan and the heart of scotland tour company as nothing was too much trouble and you get a real experience that you couldn't find anywhere else. Thank you again the heart of scotland tours and especially Euan you have definitely made this solo trip to Scotland one I will never forgetWritten 28 October 2024
- trishar5250 contributions5 day tour A MUST!This was the experience and trip of a lifetime! It was my first trip using a scheduled tour. It’s always scary because it’s a lot of money up front but it was SO WORTH IT I can’t stress that enough. We did the 5 day tour. Our tour guide was Euan Alexander. He was so knowledgeable in his storytelling and teaching but never shoved it down your throat, you know? He made us feel comfortable and it’s obvious how much he loves his country and its rich history. The tour was magnificent and, again, so worth it. If you can do it, do it! We haven’t stopped talking about it and we got home months ago. The history is so rich, the people are SO kind, and the landscapes are breathtaking. Pictures don’t do it justice! We loved the tour and it’s definitely the best trip I’ve ever been on.Written 27 October 2024

- leerstevens0 contributionsAn unforgettable, eyeopening and heart rendering tour.Having spent three days in Edinburgh my wife, her sister and I were very excited to be enjoying your beautiful country and what we have learned more importantly is your beautiful people. We then boarded our Wee Red Bus and under the guidance of Callum McGee began what turned out to be the best tour we've ever experienced in any country. Callum shared his love and history for and of his country using wonderful humor and incredible knowledge. His attention to every possible detail for our safety, comfort and enjoyment was deeply appreciated by all. Thank you Wee Red Bus Co. for providing us an experience we will never forget.Written 21 October 2024
- linka450 contributionsGreat well paced tour and a wonderful guide! This was a PHENOMENAL tour to go on- fairly small scale which is nice but still had ample time to see what we wanted to. Angela was our guide and not only was she very warm and friendly, but she played lots of great music and had lots of wonderful stories to tell about the history of the areas we visited. She also provided an alternative location to see the wall which we took, and it was *breathtaking*. She went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great time, and I greatly appreciated it. Don't hesitate to book with Heart of Scotland, you won't be disappointed!Written 16 October 2024

- drteresamariep0 contributionsAngela is amazing!!!This was a fabulous tour thanks to our amazing guide, Angela! Her commentary was so interesting. She clearly knows her stuff. She was warm, witty and really cared for us. She didn't have a " canned" script and she had so many nuggets of fab information. She even had a custom playlist to set the mood. She was kind enough to email me the list once I got home so I could relive the trip again and again. We agreed Angela was the highlighg of our trip. We hated to say goodbye, it was like leaving a friend. Book this tour!!!Written 12 October 2024

Fantastic tour with a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. I booked this trip for my second day in Scotland during a 2-week stay and it gave me a wonderful overview of the landscape and history. The whole experience was professional without being stuffy - this isn't a big corporate tour but a well-run local operation. We started off at Stirling Castle and I opted to follow the castle's tour guide, which didn't leave a lot of time to explore myself (the castle tour was great, but maybe just poke around on your own if you want to really see it). Then we saw some Highland Cows for a few minutes and then headed to the beautiful Loch Lomond and did a little hike around the paths and up the hill to a beautiful view of everything. We ended at the Glengoyne Distillery and got a full history and tour of their whisky making and a lovely tasting. An all around fun day.
Also, I was super-early to the pickup location and ended up chatting with another Heart of Scotland tour guide who was doing a bus to Hadrian's Wall, and she was as delightful as our tour guide was.

I was skeptical about spending a full day on the "wee red bus," but it was a great experience! Howard was a knowledgeable and funny guide; I'm sure his patter is well rehearsed, but it always sounded fresh. The tour went to Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, and toward the highlands to Loch Lomond and the Glengoyne Distillery, with sufficient time at each. Lunch was on your own in Drymen. It didn't hurt that it was a lovely sunny day. Alas, the highland cows never made an appearance, but plenty of other fauna and flora did, and the views were lovely. This was definitely worth the time and was a good value!!

Our guide for the day on The Wee Red Bus was Graham who was a wealth of information on the history of Scotland and pointed out important locations during the drive. Only a small group on the tour meant that there was plenty of room on the bus and we didn’t have to continually wait for people at each of the stops.
First stop of the tour out of Edinburgh was the stunning Stirling Castle. You have the option of paying to tour the castle or wander in the nearby town. We chose the castle. It’s amazing how old the castle is, yet how well it is preserved. We were given plenty of time to wander around and grab a coffee from the cafe before the scheduled bus departure time. The views were fantastic.
Continued on the bus and had the opportunity to take in the scenery and stop at a number of locations to take photos. Got some up close pictures of the local hairy coos and got to pat/feed one. Just had to remember to watch out for the horns!
Aberfoyle for lunch at the Scottish Wool Centre located just off the main street of the town. No animals to look at in the cooler seasons, but there is an impressive shop and a good place to look for souvenirs.
Loch Lomond was stunning and I recommend taking the option to get off the bus and walk the trail along the edge of the loch back towards the visitor center which takes about 40 minutes at a very leisurely pace. The scenery is worth the stroll.
Julie at Glencoyne distillery provided a comprehensive tour and led the whiskey taking throughout. Perfect end to a great day.
Recommend you consider this company for your tours rather than one of the larger operators. Well worth it.

My partner and I attended this tour on January 11th, 2020. Although the weather was quite bad, our tour guide, Paul, made sure everyone had an excellent day trip. Paul was very knowledgeable about all things Scottish and provided us with information throughout the trip. I especially appreciated that Paul included information about daily Scottish life. He was also available to provide recommendations at each location, and would pull over to offer us several photo opportunities while driving in the highlands. Paul was a very kind and accommodating tour guide, and included the perfect Scottish songs to play during the drive. Stirling castle was marvelous (free guided walking tour!) and the royal apartments at Stirling were especially fun to see. The restaurant/cafe at which we stopped during midday had delicious food and coffee, both of which were extremely well-priced. We didn’t get much time to walk around outside at Loch Lomond due to the weather, but we were still able to appreciate its beauty and take some good photos. Because our time outside was shortened due to rain, Paul took us to some extra stops, which was so appreciated! We were actually able to see more than we had expected (for example, a photo op at the castle used for Winterfell in GOT and at the bridge). Paul’s ability to adapt the tour to the weather conditions is the markings of a quality tour guide! We also stopped by a very cute little area of the highland town where we could grab a drink at a cafe or pub.
Although the weather was harsh, this tour was one of the highlights of our UK trip! (This is quite the statement, considering my partner and I are both from the very dry, warm southwestern USA...so we normally handle cold and rainy weather quite poorly!) Thanks so much to the tour company and Paul for being awesome and providing us with a fun and memorable day, which we remember very fondly!

The trip was awesome, our tour guide Angela showed us many extra venues and gave a lot of extra information. We would certainly recommend this tour when you would like to explore the Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond. The bus tour was also very comfortable. We had a very nice day and saw a lot of magnificent historical venues! Thanks for the very enjoyable day!

We were beginning to think we’d made a mistake. We arrived in London at midnight on the 13th, spent the next two days walking around London and calling airlines panicked that we’d not be able to get back to Dallas, and then took a 9 hour Megabus trip (where these two guys kept getting into actual fist fights, making it difficult to relax and catch some sleep) to Edinburgh. We were absolutely exhausted and the last thing I wanted was to get on another bus and have someone drone on and on!!
Graham proved us wrong!!! He was a true professional, had the most pleasant voice and was absolutely enthralling. He was extremely knowledgeable, but not “boring teacher” way. He was excited and proud of everything he showed us. He played music throughout and I could swear I saw a wee tear when he played The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. Honestly, I could tell you about what to see, but it’s really Graham that makes the trip. We had ample time to see the sights, eat lunch, and take tours. Seeing Stirling Castle and being told about it’s connection to Braveheart was magic, Loch Lomond was Bonnie even in the rain (or as Graham called it “liquid sunshine”). We ate in Aberfoyle at the Scottish Wool Company - get the tea for two and Lentil soup. The Glengoyne Distillery was so informative and took us from water to whisky - I wish I could describe the smell!! On the way back, Graham played ya some relaxing Scottish music and we all fell asleep. He woke us up with a special song (no spoilers)! Thank you, Graham for making our day so very special!!

It was a cold snowy day February 11th and I was afraid it might cause our trip to be cancelled, like had happened the day before with another (unrelated) booking. However everybody was right on time and we were welcomed by Iain, our host for the day, in his Wee Red Bus. The weather did not affect his mood and soon after welcoming everybody aboard we were well on our way.
Not long after we left the city we were stuck in traffic on our way to Stirling Castle. Iain tried improving our lost time by taking alternate routes, telling stories to keep us in a good mood. Iain is a wonderful story teller, I really liked his version of Braveheart. Unfortunately we still arrived a wee bit late at Stirling Castle (sorry, not Scottish but really like to use 'wee' whenever I can :) ). It gave us little time to walk the premices but after Iain still managed to squeese in a wee visit to Doune Castle (that I had requested being an Outlander fan). I am really thankful for that moment.
Having had so much bad luck with our time, Iain decided to take us up into the highlands for a little photo op at Milarrochy Bay before having a lovely lunch at the Oak Tree Inn.
After lunch we visited Glengoyne Distillery. I am not a whisky drinker, but really liked this look behind the scènes. After our second glass of whisky we departed the distillery and headed back to Edinburgh. Iain played his playlist of Scottish artists, turns out he's an excellent DJ as well. It made for a pleasant journey back.
I had a wonderfull day and hope to return to Scotland soon. I'll then certainly be booking another tour with Heart of Scotland. I have my eye set on the Best of Scotland tour already.
Thank you Iain for a very good day!

This was a fantastic experience. Our guide, Angela, was a breath of fresh air, exuding charisma and friendly charm from the very first minute until drop off. The trip included interesting stories, anecdotes and themed music relating to whichever area we happened to be in, hand selected by our guide. The actual route consisted of some beautiful roads winding along various lochs, Stirling Castle, and a whisky distillery. A thoroughly enjoyable day out. Thank you Angela !

Andy drove us on our tour and was our tour guide as well. We visited Stirling castle, we saw Highland cattle, we stopped for a casual lunch, we went to Loch Lomond for a short walk and we visited a whiskey distillery.
Andy told us lots about the history of Scotland apart from being a great driver. We started out with lovely sun and mid day the rain came at the end of our Loch Lomond visit.
The scenery is gorgeous. We both enjoyed the tour a lot.

On a snowy, wet and windy day, Iain entertained us on the way to Stirling Castle a lot with good historical and cultural info about our next visits, also mixed up with a good joke. The weather was snowy, wet, windy so there were no good scenery views for picture, so Iain drove especially to Doune Castle as alternative for a goto moment. Loch Lomond walks were also impossible since flooding but that setback was for me totally compensated by the enthusiasm of Iain. Glencoyne distillery was also very interesting. My son and me would like to do the same tour again in Summer when there's more chance for sunny spells. If we do it a second time, we will ask Iain as guide again !!

Hi Flemish Scouser (interesting 'handle' BTW!) and thanks for travelling with Iain on our Stirling Castle, Highland Lochs & Whisky day tour. Pity about the rain but if you're planning to return in the summer months we look forward to seeing you then. We'll make sure the air conditioning is working properly :-)

How much would we need for the extra admissions, the castle and distillery?

Since we are visiting Loch Lomond, will there be time to walk to the town of Luss?
Written 1 October 2019
Not really. Bus stops about 12 miles north and there is only about an hour of free time. Just enough for short walk and lunch.

hello, they stop at the monument and how long it lasts

You have about 1 1/2 hours at the castle. Plenty of time to see everything.

hi this include the wallace monument?

I took many of their tours, but not all of them. This particular one does not go to the Wallace monument, but I believe their loch Ness and Highland tour might. Their tours are on their website.

Good morning: . I have a family of 5 adults and am looking for a tour on Sunday Aug 11.
Will we be at Sterling Castle long enough to see the Castle? And can I buy Sterling Castle tickets from you in advance so we can just go in?
Are there any other required admissions ( the disitillery, etc)
I am staying at an Air BNB in Edinburgh near the Univ of Edinburgh ( ON Lauriston Gardens) Can I arrange pick up or do we need to go our and meet you somewhere?
Thank you.

You can buy the tickets when you arrive and I had enough time to see the castle and grounds.

Is there actually a tour at the distillery showing how scotch is made or is it just a stop for a quick taste of the dram ?
Written 29 September 2018
It is a tour and very informative. Yes you end up in the tasting room for a wee dram of whisky. Well worth the stop.
