Worth Every Penny, Worth Every Minute
The tour was amazing, hitting so many awesome places and sites. The days were long due to the required travel and all of the sites to be seen, but that never lessened the experience. Our tour guide, Fraser, did a fantastic job balancing his responsibilities and keeping us entertained by regaling us with educational stories (told in the way only the best story tellers can tell, with the proper level of embellishment and enthusiasm) and playing his awesome playlist of Scottish music. Definitely request him by name if possible!

      Highly Recommend!!!
My husband and I have done countless tours over the years all over the world & we’ve never had a guide come even close to Fraser. From the second we got picked up he made everyone feel comfortable & in the best hands. I generally have the attention span of a gnat & his story telling kept me completely captivated for 3 solid days. He was extremely entertaining, kind & just downright funny. It’s rare to see someone love what they do as much as he does and that’s so special. I also appreciate an amazing playlist and his choice of tunes were excellent. The tour overall ran very smoothly and the sights were spectacular. The days are long but if you’re lucky enough to get a guide as great as Fraser they fly by. Would highly recommend booking the 3 day tour and experiencing the beauty of the Highlands and Skye!

      Great Three Day Tour
We had a wonderful time on the three day tour, our tour Guide "Wee Stevie" was exceptional. Not only, he provided a commentary of the places visited with a lot of historical information, Stevie was humorous, kept the group entertained from start to finish.

      An awesome adventure
William, our guide, was so very informative and thorough with the historical information he provided. He interspersed his narrative with relevant music, which made the driving portions quite enjoyable. He always made sure to stop enough times for bathroom breaks and refreshments. We never could have seen as many sights if we had gone on our own, so this tour was well worth it. The scenery in the highlands was awesome, and we especially loved the Loch Ness cruise—the water was so still it looked like glass. All in all, we felt this tour was an amazing part of our overall trip to Scotland.

The driver made the tour 5 stars 🌟
The tour was everything we hoped for and more. Our guide and driver Pete was the best, he told us all the stories and had even made a playlist to make a great atmosphere on the bus. Making fun, showing us all the best spots and driving safe and comfortable. Scotland is truly amazing 😻

      Try and see.
I was not very fond of a bossy military tone of the guide. And ABBA remix on highlands tour truly blew the brains out. But apart from than the tour was gretat. We managed to see, admire and experience historical places, beautiful landscapes and unforgetable memories of Scotland. Great option if you are not willing to plan and explore all by yourself.

      Great your bad guide
It was a great tour, in 3 days we saw a lot. The driver was a great driver and also was our guide. His name was Rod, be liked to intimidate everyone and would stand and be very aggressive with people. He thought it was funny to crank up the music and make noises with his mic. He did have great knowledge but also liked to ramble on about nothing. He should stick to driving and let someone else be the guide. If it was for him I would say the tour was 10. Avoid Rod

Fond memories of a Bonnie Lassie
What an incredible three days with Brian Smith, our Scottish leader kilt and all , and his co pilot Lynn. Each day was filled to over flowing with fun, laughter, discoveries of the Scottish history and Scotlands beautiful landscape. Brian’s Colourful stories delivered with a deep Scottish Brrr brought the countries “ days gone by “ to life with dynamic clarity and historical cleverness. Over three days we travelled deep into the Highlands , gazed at locs ,glens, castles, a train passing over Finnagans aqueduct, very awesome Hairy Coos , and the fairy magic of Skye. We searched for Nessy on a boat cruise, tasted the Highlands famous Scotch, enjoyed the hospitality of Inverness and stepped into ancient times as we touched standing stones and pondered the clever engineering of the cairns. Our hearts were marching with the Scott’s on Calloden Battle field, such a tremendously emotional and sad bit of history. Music of the pipers blended with a bit of Great Big Sea and other Grand Scot tunes filled our bus cabin and brought our journey into a closer touch with the Scottish folk. There was so much more packed in these very full days. It’s a very grand cross country over view of a country that has a big story to tell. A must do tour with Brian and The Hairy Coo.

A long day but you get plenty of rest stops and photograph opportunities at breathtaking views. Some of the stops are very close together so it’s a lot of getting on the bus to get off again 20 minutes later but it’s worth it for the photographs.

Recommend the boat trip- it’s £16.50 with the tour guide or if you go when you get there I think it’s more expensive. It’s easier to have cash instead of card but there is a cash point just by the meeting place or there are cash points at a few of the stops. A great day out especially if you’re in Edinburgh and you want to see the rural side of Scotland and you only have a day.

The tour guide was great and friendly (Jim) he could tell you the history of each point of interest.

Scott was such a nice man and he always made sure that his passengers were well taken care of. I was travelling alone and he let me sit at the co-pilot seat, and lent me his portable charger as well. Very competent drivers who were clearly very familiar with the roads, managed to entertain us while driving. The locations were beautiful as well. However, i honestly would not recommend the boat tour on the Loch Ness as everything that you can see on the boat is what you can see from land- 16.50 pounds is pretty expensive for a mid boat experience. Towards the end there was this weird stop in a village (where everything was closed except for 1 ice cream shop) which felt pretty unnecessary and dragged the tour out longer than it needed to be. Overall a great experience though, except for the boat tour of course (not included in the package but everyone went anyway)

Very good trip and great value for money. The tour involves a lot of bus travel, but since the scenery is so great, time really flies! The tour passes lots of places famous from history or known from movie productions. My favorite spots were the amazing mountan range called The Three Sisters, just before Glencoe, and the stark desolation of Rannoch Moor. The boat trip on Loch Ness costs extra but is a must, and is carried out on a ship full of sonars and sonar screens, and a good guide.

I took the trip with my 15-year old son, He was also very happy that we took the trip!

Our driver and tour guide was an ex RAF guy named John. He drove safely and gave us many great stories throughout the trip, and delivered with humour - both informative and entertaining.

If you go to Edinburgh, you must really spen a day on a sightseeing tour. Without it, you haven’t reslly seen Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The only extra thing I would have wished for was a slight extension of the trip, so that we could have a short stop with a photo-opportunity at Stirling Castle.

Wow! What a great tour we had today with The Hairy Coo Tour company. We took the Loch Ness, the Highlands, Glencoe & Ben Nevis Tour out of Edinburgh. Brian our driver & tour guide just made it amazing for us. He gave us the detailed history of every area we passed through and stopped at and how it related to the battles, Marys Queen of Scots, King James, Rob Roy, William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and many more, in a really fun way. Learned alot. But most of all Brian is one of the best tour guides in the business. He has an in depth of knowledge of Scottish history down to the finest details. But, the great thing about Brian is that he knows how to keep the momentum of the tour. He did this by explaining the history of what happened (the full gruesome truth), in a very serious where appropriate, but also using humour. He kept the whole tour upbeat and fun, cracking jokes along the way. And the jokes kept coming and we loved it. "Busoke" in the mix too. Not karaoke but bus... You'll know what I mean if you are lucky enough to have Brian as your Hairy Coo Driver/Tour Guide. I especially loved seeing the red and black Hairy coo's and feeding them. They are sooo cute. Tip: The additional cost of the Loch Ness Boat Tour is full of really interesting facts and well worth doing. If we are in Scotland again and wanted to do another bus tour, we would not have to think about it. We would definitely choose The Hairy Coo company again. Hands down. It definitely was BRAW (Fun).

My family and I loved this tour and it was mainly thanks to Stephen and his amazing energy, passion and knowledge he brought to the tour. He even had this amazing music playlist that went along with his stories. So while this is a long day it didn’t feel that long because you are constantly entertained by Stephen’s wealth of knowledge or music. Everyone should book a tour through this company, it was so easy and very reasonably priced. The bus was fantastic, not to big or small and the seats were comfy with lots of storage space above. I recommend you bring snacks and water for the journey due to its length and if you’re going to lochness take the boat tour, it’s well worth the money. Thank you again Stephen you really made this tour special and memorable!

I booked this tour for my partners birthday during a short stay in Edinburgh and it lived up to the positive reviews in every way.

Having never visited Scotland before, John gave us a full introduction to the myths, legends, history and tunes. The scenery was outstanding and each spot we stopped at was another opportunity to see a side of Scotland you wouldn't get staying in the city.

John was a great tour guide who kept the energy at 100 for the full day, rallying everyone and being entertaining throughout.

We had an excellent time and would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone looking to get a taste of the Highlands.

We may not have seen Nessie, but at least we got to feed a hairy Coo!

Had a wonderful time on this tour! Ryan was a great guide. He gave us fun facts during the drive and made stops along the way for us to take pictures. We opted not to do the whiskey tasting because it was only 10 AM but breakfast at the distillery was nice. We took the boat tour and we're astounded at how big Loch Ness was! It even snowed!! Ryan was nice enough to stop the bus to let us look for hairy coo aka play in the snow. I definitely recommend this tour. It is fun, interesting, and offers beautiful sights of the Scottish highlands.

We were lucky enough to have picked one of the sunniest days in August and so got to see the Highlands at its very best. Our driver, Stephen 'read us the riot act' around Covid protocols once we boarded Bella [each bus has its own name!] leaving us to wonder what we had let ourselves in for. We needn't have worried. Stephen turned out to be a bit of a comedian and a Master Storyteller, leaving us to wonder how he manages to do this whilst driving a bus at the same time.

The tour was amusing and highly informative throughout and Stephen had made a clever compilation of music to match the storytelling, ranging from popular tunes through to traditional Scottish and even blends of the two [Red Hot Chilli Pipers]. This certainly kept us awake. One word of advice - Hairy Coo attracts a younger audience and might not be the right tour for your Grannie!

The Highlands sells itself and doesn't need commentary. Stops were adequate but feels a bit claustrophobic when tour buses all follow one another and stop off together at the same points. Drivers do try to leave gaps but inevitably catch up with one another where boat trips are pre-booked e.g. Loch Ness. It was busy enough this year, so certainly wouldn't want to experience this when companies are working at full capacity.

12 hours flew by and we were left feeling invigorated rather than exhausted.
A fabulous day and would highly recommend the Hairy Coo if you're prone to nodding off when travelling!!

I booked this rather impulsively without paying attention to the details. In retrospect I probably would never have booked had I realized it was 12 hours on a bus. That part was difficult. The guide (William Edgar) was amazing though. He filled the 12 hours with entertaining stories of Scottish history and music. He was a well informed, funny, and genuine guy who worked really hard. I felt we could be friends in real life. The trip was ok. I liked seeing the highlands, and of course Loch Ness is a bucket list item, I think I would have rather rented a car and driven myself, and spread it over a couple of days. That way I could have seen some of the small towns we went through without being rushed, and also when things were open (shops etc. closed early in the more rural areas). Bottom line, I definitely recommend the tour operator (Hairy Coo). The trip itself I’d probably give 3 stars. So I averaged it out for this review.
