Overview

Ideal for those fascinated by the supernatural, this 1.5-hour tour of Edinburgh’s underground vaults is sure to make your spine tingle. With a ghoulish guide, you’ll descend into the darkened depths of the Blair Street Vaults and hear vivid retellings of torture, murder and body snatching. Abandon thoughts of manufactured frights and prepare to experience the sinister side of Edinburgh on this small-group tour.

What to Expect

At an afternoon departure time to suit your schedule, you’ll greet your guide on the High Street, beside St. Giles High Kirk. Following your cloaked guide, you’ll weave your wicked way through the shadow-shrouded streets of Edinburgh’s Old Tower and gain insight into Edinburgh’s dark history.

After the spooky scene has been established, descend to the vaults beneath Blair Street and feel a morbid chill permeate the air. Tentatively wander through darkened passages and hear gruesome tales of torture, murder and bodysnatching.

Ghost stories galore, you’ll be sensitive to a cold breath on the back of your neck and the flicker of a candle in the distance. After 1.5 hours of exploration, return to daylight and bid your guide farewell.

Brilliant!

Funny, informative, scary and overall very entertaining! Tour guide, Lara, was excellent at her animated storytelling as we journeyed through the hidden vaults of Edinburgh that otherwise we wouldn’t have even known about. A brilliant and worthwhile thing to do when visiting the city.

Fantastic

My husband and I decided to go on this tour to find out more about Edinburgh. We were not disappointed. Jenny told us some interesting facts along with ghostly story telling. Definitely recommend the evening tour.

Our guide Fred was brilliant. Her stories were very gripping and interesting. The tour was well organised and the drink at the end was great.

There is historical background given to the stories showing aspects of life at the time. Mostly it is about the vaults but there are some stories and facts above ground.
