About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Seaside209984391280 contributionsDay tourThe driver was very knowledgeable and made the experience remarkable! It's a long day but it was definitely worth it !!!Written 16 September 2024
- O5260VEheidim0 contributionsPrivate tour of Royal MileMy first impression when meeting our guide was unpleasant. Sam was quite abrasive and not welcoming and it felt like we got off on a bad start. A pleasant welcome would have been appreciated. But, we enjoyed our tour of the Royal Mile with our very knowledgeable tour guide, Sam.Written 9 September 2024
- jessicapW8897PS0 contributionsAmazing Outlander Tour with SteveThough my husband isn’t an Outlander “fan” and I’m not one of those obsessed ladies who watches it — he’s enjoyed what he’s watched and I love the show so I splurged on a private tour which was fantastic — Steve was an awesome guide, had a tablet with screenshots from the show which helped visualize scenes with the places we saw — and took us on a route so we missed most (if not all) crowds which was awesome — highly recommend !!Written 8 August 2024
- 297valariez0 contributionsWonderful Outlander ExperienceSteven was an excellent tour guide. My daughter and I did the private tour. He was very knowledgeable about the locations and Outlander filming. The tour was not rushed and Steven was very patient with mobility challenges touring the castles. I highly recommend!!Written 2 July 2024
- AnonATL0 contributionsGood experience for family that loves historyOur family had a great time on this tour. We had a short time in Edinburgh, and Sam provided us with a great overview of the history of the city. She clearly loves her home and was able to answer all of our questions. Time well spent!Written 28 May 2024
- MikeA9870 contributionsWonderful Experience. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our full day private tour of Edinburgh with Sam and Steven. They were both amazing, professional and knowledgeable. We had many opportunities to take lots of amazing photos. Edinburgh should be a must visit on anyone's travel list. We hope to return with our best friends in 2025 and I will certainly recommend that we book Edinburgh Tour Guides.Written 8 January 2024
- LMK010 contributionsFamily adventureWe love doing private tours when we travel. Especially because my husband is a history buff and loves to ask questions. He hates feeling like he’s monopolizing a group tour. This was an absolute perfect day with Sam!! She was funny, and so knowledgeable. Loved all the places she took us, the time she spent answering questions and the fact that she threw in a few Outlander filming spots for me along the way!! Plus she whipped up a perfect weather day for us after Storm Gerrit came through the day prior. =) Thank you Sam! We will back and book with you again….for a longer tour out of the city next time.Written 30 December 2023
- Nomad490180264680 contributionsOutlander Day!We originally booked a private one-day tour with another company. They had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances and handed us off to Edinburgh Tour Guides. They placed us in good hands because we had the best day with our tour guide Steve. He was already waiting outside our hotel to pick us up. He was professional, knowledgeable, gracious, fun and just a down to earth good guy. Was able to see scene locations such as Midhope, Falkland, Culcross, etc. Tour was everything that we hoped it would be. Would use this tour company again!Written 24 September 2023
- amandafK3891PG0 contributionsOutlander And Skye TourFour days with our wonderful guide Sam. Started Edinburgh, around the Highlands, to Skye and back. Catered to our groups needs, nothing was a problem. We were delayed and Sam organised Steve to finish our tour, the next day. They were both very knowledgable and we loved listening to their stories. It was the highlight of our trip of a lifetime. So much so, we are all planning to return to Scotland in the future. Thankyou, Sam and Steve. AmandaWritten 23 September 2023
- swimmyne0 contributionsGreat Introduction to EdinburghWe really enjoyed our walking tour with our guide, Fran. Her stories brought the city alive for us plus we really got our bearings on our short trip to Edinburgh. Thank you, Fran!Written 6 September 2023
- Julie G0 contributionsLovely people and so knowledgeableWe discovered Edinburgh Tour Guides during lockdown via the now defunct online platform Heygo. Sam and Martin kept us entertained and sane with their wonderful online tours of Edinburgh and further afield places such as Inverness, Melrose, Dunbar, Falkland (setting for Outlander) etc. They are now streaming tours on YouTube and can be found on Facebook. They also run wonderful in-person tours.Written 30 June 2023
- Rinae H0 contributionsLoved our tour!We couldn’t have been happier with our tour! Steve was quite knowledgeable and added many personal stories and experiences throughout the day which added to our enjoyment. We were picked up and dropped off at our place of lodging -so convenient! Adequate time was provided at each stop and we never felt rushed even though we saw so many different sites. We definitely recommend using this tour company, and be sure to ask for Steve!Written 23 May 2023
- waterlogged650 contributionsEdinburgh tour guides best in their classWe had the pleasure of meeting Steve, our guide, who took us first to the Glencoyne distillery for a tour scotch tasting and then on a tour of sites where Outlander is filmed. He has great knowledge about the series and provided often surprising information about how it is produced. He then took us through the Trossachs for amazing natural scenery. The highlight of our day a visit to Hopetoun House the finest estate house in Scotland and the UK. Touring with Steve is a seamless experience. He kept us on an easy schedule and made the day enjoyable informative and memorable. Hopetoun House is a lavish estate house lovingly kept up by its live-in family, an astounding art collection and wonderful period restoration, Steve was a knowledgeable, pleasant and expert guide. Edinburghtourguides.com provides a professional and pleasant experience.Written 13 May 2023
- L9417ULannk0 contributionsTake me home to LallybrochMy two Sisters and I were collected from our Hotel at 9.30 by Sam and Steve and off we went to Lallybroch. I can’t tell you how excited I was to go on this Trip. Sam and Steve are fabulous tour guides and lovely people, very knowledgeable and informative. We had an amazing day also visiting Doune Castle, the Kelpies, Blackness Castle and beautiful Culross. We stayed so long in each location as we were really enjoying the tour (not just visiting for the photo opportunity) of which there are so many, but being guided by Sam and Steve and their wealth of knowledge for each location, we ran out of time. Sam and Steve were also pointing out the various landmarks as we were driving along. We loved our Ultimate Outlander Day Tour and will definitely be back to visit some other locations and will be booking Edinburgh Tour Guides to take us. Thank you. - Compass8158710 contributionsThe CastleYou wouldn't know that this castle was an awesome tour just by looking at the outside of it, but when we arrived for our tour, the castle came alive and was like a mini city in itself. The tours throughout the castle itself were fantastic and the various shops were bustling as if it you were back in the time of the castle at the height of early times in Scotland. And if you don't see all of it, it makes you want to come back to catch everything you may have missed. Spectacular is all I can say about this place. SpectacularWritten 29 October 2022

We had a lovely personalized three day tour with Sam that consisted of trips to Glasgow, St. Andrews, Sterling Castle and Edinburgh. She was knowledgeable, friendly and customized the trip per our interests. Scheduling and communications were easy and clear. I will definitely book another tour and recommend the group to others.

I had followed Sam’s Virtual tours during Covid and I had just stumbled on it ! . Boy was I lucky her tours and personality was some light and fun during an Isolating time. I thought how neat would it be to have an in person tour and spend some time .. So when I knew I was going to visit with friends in Inverness I contacted Sam to see Edinburgh once again ( had been 5 years before for a day ) first day was the city tour by Van to Deans village , and drive around Arthur’s seat and area then strolled the royal mile ., and Greyfriars to see Bobby and the Cathedral and cemetery ., a relaxing lunch .. she took her time , we foot along fantastically ! She went over the set time it was lovely . She took me to everything I had requested ! .Next day off to the Kingdom of Fife ..St Andrews golf course upon my request .. and parking wasn’t easy there ! She didn't give up ! Lol .. I had wanted to see this small fishing village “Crail” spent a lovely time there exploring oh first we went to Culross and took our time and it was great to see and it helped thot Sam knows so much about the history of everything and knowledgeable about Outlander of course! Added bonus she has such a lovely spirit !!that made this Scotland tour amazing and even though I
Still had 2 weeks to go after ..it was a highlight of my entire trip next to visiting my friends . Thank you Sam and Steve !! So guys book them !!
